    The (amazing) artistic choice set aside this is still one of the most memorable games I've played in quite some time.
    The controls. Are. Tight! Thankfully. Because without them this game would have been nothing but a great graphical look. Now however it's a frustrating, pulse raising joy!

    As an old school gamer this title brings back memories of when completing games weren't about who had the most amount of time or money to buy loot crates, but rather who actually learned the game and memorized the patterns. In short: best players win.
    For me it's one of those "just one more try" kind of games.
    Will be looking forward to see what StudioMDHR is going to come up with in the future with great suspense!    … Expand

    In an age where everything is huge CGI worlds with a 120 people team for graphism alone, where the search for the most realistic graphics is the ultimate goal, CupHead come as a refreshing simple 30s' inspired cartoons. The whole game is smooth, colorfull and inspired. The music is on par with a "big band" vibe that fits perfectly    Saying this game is beautiful is an understatement.

    It is hard. I have seen worst but it's hard. You still see progress every run you make and the game is verry generous that you can start a level again right away.

    It's a nice Arcade style throwback experience. I strongly recommend if you like this kind of game, pure, arcade, frustrating, satisfaying, fun.

    El arte caricaturesco antiguo le da un toque de nostalgia y si incluimos lo difícil que es el juego a rasgos generales, ya que no posee punto de control, convierten a este juego en un vicio para cualquier amante de los videojuegos

    Cuphead, I highly recommend this game. If you are frightened by the discussed difficulty, don't be. Because if I can beat it so can you. Cuphead has this wonderful sense of scale, you know you are just a small character going up against these enormous bosses but you still do it anyway. The difficulty provided by the bosses could leave anyone crying, especially that stupid dragon ( I wantCuphead, I highly recommend this game. Cuphead has this wonderful sense of scale, you know you are just a small character going up against these enormous bosses but you still do it anyway. The difficulty provided by the bosses could leave anyone crying, especially that stupid dragon ( I want to kill that dragon), but the sense of achievement given when defeating even the easy bosses is as good as beating some games in there entirety. Overall the game controls greatly which you would hope for in a game as difficult as this, but if you are playing PC I highly recommend a controller. The music is razor tight always providing a great sense of atmosphere and just being generally great on your ears, this game has a soundtrack I would buy. You can tell from the beautiful hand drawn animations that this game had people's heart and souls poured into it which you can see in the final project as the game is so clean an polished. But the game is unforgiving if you aren't that good at the game or don't feel like being challenge there is an easier mode in the game you can pick just before the fight but not only does the game literally laugh at you for doing this but all it does is give you access to the next boss, meaning you have to redo the boss on the harder/normal difficulty to get the item needed to actually finish the game. Not only this but I believe the run and gun levels where unnecessary I won't go into this much because they were a last minute inclusion as people wanted the game to be more than a boss rush game but in my playthrough I did the first four run and gun levels, got the items I thought would be most helpful and just skipped all the others as there are enough hidden coins around the map to afford another item and some of them are harder than some of the bosses which meant they were just unnecessary pain. But to be honest this game is really worth the asking price, its fun to replay the game as things you found so difficult before are now somewhat easy which gives you a sense of accomplishment and the game is just fun which is all you really need in a video game. (well the games fun until you break your controller/keyboard).… Expand

The game was indeed hard, although that wasn't a suprise. the bosses are the main focus of the game and stand out above all else except perhaps the music.     Best game I have ever played. There is soo much to do in this game. I aced all of the achievements in like 25 hours. I completed the game three times (Once on my other account that I have almost 40 hours in the game, and twice on this account). The game is very hard to master but with some time it will get very easy. Controls are perfect. I would love a sequel to this masterpiece. The DLCBest game I have ever played.     Cuphead brings a vision which everyone would like to "review". With their graphics very well designed, your story and gameplay (despite being simpler) also lead the player to want to end the game. Its difficulty, although disturbing, is a challenge that ultimately test the patience of the Viewer. Exactly what we expected.

    Cuphead tem um estilo gráfico impressionante e é desafiador do jeito certo, oferecendo recompensas satisfatórias após cada fase. Apesar de alguns infelizes problemas, ainda é recomendadíssimo, especialmente considerando o seu preço atual.

The gameplay is impressive, the graphics are outstanding, the bosses are creative, the music fits with the various settings and everything about the game feels like a throwback to old Disney cartoons or Fleischer's works.     Challenging, frustrating but brilliant. When I'm constantly losing from a (predictably) bouncing ball even though the controls are excellent, can't blame the game for my frustration - I just need to find the right way.
    Has anybody here mentioned the excellent audio/visuals? :)

    One of my favorite PC games. Difficult and tedious at times--the Dark Souls of Run and Guns--but well worth the struggle, if you like that sort of thing. I spent countless hours learning the patterns and such of the bosses, and eventually beat the whole game. The achievements are quite easy if you try hard enough to beat the bosses, which is great for achievement hunters like me. The artOne of my favorite PC games.     Great unique style, pretty fun gameplay. It is a hard game but only 2 or 3 of the bosses were frustratingly hard to the point where it's a negative. Pretty great.

    Играл с другом через программу и один тоже. игра затянула интересно проходить её и какой же кайф проходить босса которого 54 минуты не могли осилить именно таких игр не хватало.

    La jugabilidad es simple de entender: disparar a matar y no morir en el intento. Una formula que ha funcionado por décadas y que vuelve a funcionar... ya en el juego es un poco más complicado que eso. Cuphead se basa en peleas contra Bosses con muy muy pocos escenarios de plataforma y, aunque podría sonar aburrido, la verdad es que no lo es. Lo anterior debido, en gran parte, a que nos tomará vaaaarios intentos ganarle a cada Boss.

    Los pocos niveles plataformeros son bastante complicados también, así que no nos darán respiro.

    GRÁFICOS:
    El estilo de arte es precioso. Es todo lo que diré.

    SONIDO:
    Los desarrolladores no lo han descuidado ni un poco, por el contrario, me parece que se han esforzado mucho en que la música compuesta para el juego sea igual de adictiva que el Gameplay mismo. ¡Lo han logrado! Es uno de esos soundtrack que da gusto escuchar aún cuando no se está jugando.

    INNOVACIÓN:
    Un Run-and-Gun con música y estilo de arte inspirado en los años 30, con un 80% de Gameplay siendo Boss fights, con una dificultad para sudar, que se burla en tu cara cada vez que pierdes... no se me ocurre algo parecido.    … Expand

    Cuphead is one of, if not, the most visually charming games ever in addition to being the most fun game I have ever played. Obviously, the graphics are stunning, but they are nothing compared to the gameplay. The boss-rush formula was perfected in Cuphead and each boss not only has its own clear and distinct identity but manges to be extremely fun. The run and gun levels are quite fun, butCuphead is one of, if not, the most visually charming games ever in addition to being the most fun game I have ever played. Obviously, the graphics are stunning, but they are nothing compared to the gameplay. The boss-rush formula was perfected in Cuphead and each boss not only has its own clear and distinct identity but manges to be extremely fun. The run and gun levels are quite fun, but feel more like bonus levels to get coins rather than central to the game. In addition to that, you don't need to beat the run and gun levels to beat the game, but it sure does help as you can unlock coins in these levels which allow you to buy charms and weapons. Overall, I would reccomend this game to anybody who is up for a pretty challenging game and likes boss fights in video games.… Expand

    Whenever I hear someone complaining about Cuphead, the only valid argument they have is that it is the most difficult game of all damn time. Besides that, it's the most fun I've had playing any game of any type. Co-op is especially enjoyable, due to the fact that you are constantly reviving one another, and simultaneously getting your ass handed to you by some bee lady who has police connections.

    Artistically, Cuphead is simply perfect. From character design to animations, environments, the effort to recreate the cartoon world of the 30's pays off and Studio MDHR deliver a coherent colorful, frenzied universe which totally fits the cynical but funny story of the main characters. I can't emphasize enough how great the art is and how well it serves the gameplay and the pleasure of playing.

    Speaking of art, the OST is divine. I had never bought any OST on Steam before, but for Cuphead it seemed like the very least I could do to thank the composer Kris Maddigan of his work, a real piece of art ! The rag-jazz mix is amazing and and fits the frenzy of the gameplay perfectly.

    Using the Remote Play feature, it is now possible to play the whole in coop online with a friend (and also locally). Hours of fun and challenge in perspective.

    There's so much more to say about this game, but you need to discover it by yourself. It's one of the best games I played in these last years. And don't wait for discounts, even the full price is cheap considering the quality and the huge work behind this game.    … Expand

    Really good idea the 30' years game graphic. A good run n'gun where you can shoot blue laser by your hand! A good cartoon stile, and also hard. Very hard. I played this with some of my friends, and trust me, it may be really hard and it may explode your head by the rage, but if you complete a boss or a level, you feel the champion of the world. A good experience: 87/100 bits!

    45 hours of the best co-op Ive ever played in my life. I played with my brother, and we both agree, its not just the best co-op game, but the best multi-player game we've played together. Its hard to feel super satisfying when you complete a level, but not impossibly hard. Knockout!

Each boss is unique, and nearly all of them offer fun new attack patterns to learn. I haven't even mentioned the painstakingly authentic Fliescher Studios art style that the game has replicated. I have never seen a game copy this style better than Cuphead. The animation feels upbeat and lively, and so does the amazing soundtrack by Kristofer Maddigan.     Mi mayor detalle es que de eso va todo el juego, los únicos coleccionables que hay son las monedas y en cuanto hacer todos los rangos S o bien los P en los Run & Gun, son una perdida de tiempo, estos no te dan algo tan chido a cambio y yo solo recomendaria hacerlos para restregarselos en la cara de tus amigos.
    En cuanto a visuales el juego es hermoso y en música esta le queda como anillo al dedo.

    Yo recomiendo pasar este juego con un amigo, simplemente es un titulo muy entretenido y si puedes adquierelo en descuento.

    I love this game. It is so much fun and it also is challenging enough. I thought that I would never complete the third area and yet I finished the whole game. Absolutely love the art style, music and animation. Definitely worth your money, time and effort.

    This game is nice but you need to stay calm while playing or else you are probably gonna smash all your controllers or keyboreds. All the bad reviews are probably due to the fact that this game is too hard. (also if you dont have a controller, then dont buy it cuz playing with a keybored is not the best option)

The attacks are simple, so whenever you die it feels like your fault, not the game's. The game throws an assortment of weapons, charms and supers to deal with bosses. And sometimes all you need to do is mix and match to shred a difficult boss to pieces.

    Secondly, the graphics. This is why most people will buy the game. The beautiful 60fps hand drawn animations just pops out instead of some boring real ones. It just is breathtaking and the 50's style is just amazing. It's fluid, bouncy and just charming. No boss feels similar to another, thanks to some huge surprises in later phases.

    Thirdly, the music. This is, singlehandedly, the best soundtrack in all of gaming. Every single track deserves to be listened to and enjoyed. It's grand, it's jazzy, it's bombastic and it's amazing. Karnival Keffule, I love you.

    Lastly, the open world. The design is just wonderful with things you can interact with just popping out of the screen by bouncing and moving. Npc's are funny and usually help you to beat a boss, find something in the world or give you quests to get coins. Also, a death counter is genius.

    Overall, a 10/10 masterpiece. If anything I wrote about appeals to anyone, then try the game. It's often on sale for about 10 euro.    … Expand

    This is one of my favorite games of all time, the main selling point is the art style, but everything about this game is great, the bosses, run n guns, the npc's, every little detail is great, the story FEELS like something out of a 1930's cartoon, and the dev's perfects everything you could ask for, And their story of how the developed the game is crazy.

I've only played the game through once and that was with a friend so I can't really talk that much about the single player difficulty but can say it is not easy no matter which version you decide to play. For example, I went to the frogs boss battle in both single player and CO-OP but the amount of time to beat it was more or less the same no matter what version I played. When I did eventually get to the final boss with said friend, we both felt this massive sense of accomplishment and we still remain proud we finished it. I did have plans on playing through the game again but seeing how some bosses almost me and my friend go insane trying to beat and the game being a bit more difficult on my own, that single player run will probably never happen. However I will say this, I never felt cheated during a particular boss. Everything felt fair and balanced (maybe it's cause I've been cranking up my difficulty settings in games but overall, I think it does it's job). I really loved Cuphead and seeing how the Delicious Last Course (Cuphead DLC) came out not too long ago, I was blown away by how much this game nails what it sets out to do. I even beat it with that same friend not too long ago and we both fell in love with it. An already good game with a little cherry on top to truly make it worth buying and playing. If you need something different from whatever games you've been playing right now, try Cuphead out and see if you like it. I can understand the difficulty being a turn-off for most players but I truly think it's worth it regardless of how much you fail because that eventual victory will feel so good that you feel ready for anything. And if you want, play it with a friend to make the experience more enjoyable and fun (just don't be annoying, revive your friends if they die please). Anyways, thanks for reading. Peace out.… Expand

    While the game is notorious for being hard (and it is), I don’t think the game is in anyway unbalanced. You don’t lose much progress if you die in a boss and there are different difficulties to suit different skill levels. After getting all achievements in Cuphead, I can say there were very few instances where I found the gameplay boring.

    This is a really good game and the art style and hand drawn art is really good. The gameplay is really hard but thats kinda the point of the game i think. The delicious last course DLC is very pay to win but has enough content and is balanced enough that i can say its good. My overall opinion of this game is that its really good but way to hard.

I platinumed it yesterday after having a hard time putting it down since I picked it up. The thing that drew me to it initially was the art design and nostalgia for that era of cartoon animation. I'm a 32 year old who grew up loving early Disney classics, so the game sort of had an in with me from the get go. Beyond the aesthetics, I found a deeply challenging and sometimes deeply frustrating game. But I found it to be fair, consistent, and learnable. That tipped the scales from frustration to a need to conquer it.

    The game has three modes, all in 2d side scroll: run and gun, air fight, and platforming boss fight. It is essentially a game of roughly 20 boss fights of increasing difficulty (with some exceptions), that requires you to learn the ins and outs of the bosses' behaviors, and adapt. By the time I had beaten the game on normal (let alone expert), I had died or hit the retry button about 230 times. And from what I gather, that's lower than average. However, the boss fights only last about two minutes in most cases. For anyone considering this game, be advised that it will be very frustrating to many gamers. It's brutally challenging and requires quick reflexes and constant reading of loads of information on the screen. To add to the potential frustration, many of the projectiles and hazards launched at you are randomly generated. But with persistence, it is almost a certainty you will learn the general patterns of the bosses and levels, and increase your chances of succeeding.

    The music, sound design and visuals of this game cannot be praised highly enough. There is great care and attention to detail, and a truly memorable and varied score. However, given the hectic nature of the game, it is inherently difficult to enjoy the quality work that went into the visual aspects of the game. One of my favorite aspects of the aesthetic was the ability of the art designers to blend the pleasing and cute with the creepy. Many bosses will present you with downright creepy gestures and shifts in animation, and small audio cues to go along with them. I found this very welcome, and also true to form for animation of the era this game is intended to emulate.

    As far as controls, this game is perfectly playable. The controls are tight and responsive, as they must be. I would strongly advise any player to take some time at the outset of the game to map controls in a manner that makes sense to them. It's extremely important to be able to shoot, jump and dash in simultaneously or in quick succession comfortably. I settled on mapping fire to R1, Jump to X, and Dash to Circle. Movement was set to d-pad. That worked well for me. For the other functions it is not nearly as important how they are mapped, so long as you can remember them and use them on the fly.

    There is one peculiar function in this game that I almost never used. Others will certainly disagree. There is a "lock" function which will hold Cuphead in place, allowing you to aim at angles using the joystick or d-pad. However, it is locked to 8 directions which feels extremely prohibitive in this game. The idea of locking our hero in place to fire at a 45 or 135 degree angle never seemed enticing to me. Cuphead can always shoot up or down without this function, and that ability is crucial.

    Cuphead provides amazing visuals drawing from the earliest in animation, a great big band and jazz score, and extremely fun and challenging gameplay to boot. It will not be everyone's cup of tea, but it was certainly mine and it should be for anyone who enjoys this style of game.    … Expand

    I think that this is truly a unique game and I would recommend that if you are a fan of this type of genre then I think you should give this game a try.

    It is easy to tell that the developers studied the history of the genre through and through, delivering a stellar run and gun experience brought to life with unique old fashioned cartoon graphics. It may have it flaws, but when a game is this appealing it is easy to forgive.
