It is just proof that some game developers think you are stupid. The only good thing about this is that I did not pay full price for this half finished, unsupported (typical for EA games) game. I would suggest not buying this for any computer beyond Windows Vista as it runs poorly on windows 7 and beyond. Expand

Usually I do not give 6 to this (sold out) genre of games, but Crysis is a very well done game. Graphics are great, probably the best ones (I think they're better than Crysis 2's ones). Multiplayer isn't that great and is not "open", but it's still funny. This is one of the (very) few, well done games of its genre (tactical FPS). Also, this is NOT a console port, but it was originally made for PC, and that's a very positive point. I'm very happy for that. If I had to rate only the graphics, I'd give it a 7, because it's really almost excellent. Expand

The story and the atmosphere is breath-taking that I can feel the wild survival mood and get addicted to it to play it 4 or 5 hours a day. The nanosuit enables the plays to have many alternative ways to complete the mission, if you don't want to have a fight, just switch to cloak mode to sneak, or if you are tired of repetitive shooting, just switch to power mode to beat enemies with your bare hands. If I have to name the cons, it is not optimized well that no PC can run it on maximum settings when the game is released, and my laptop which was bought in 2011 can't do it either. But anyway, it is an amazing game. Expand

Even playing it several years later, the graphics are still gorgeous and the environment is fun to play in--whether it's lush jungles, icy mountain passes, or sprawling military bases. The nanosuit is what really makes this game fun, and it allows for a variety of tactics: you can sneak around making stealth kills with silenced weapons or run in guns blazing--even crush enemies by throwing crates on them. Despite all the great things about this game, it does fall short of being truly sandbox: while you have a fair amount of control over your route to the target (sneaking in the jungle, taking the road, climbing buildings) often you end up only having one way to finish the mission, which is usually just shooting your way past enemy defenses. Also, like its predecessor, Far Cry, the vehicles are awkward to drive and rarely worth the trouble. Overall, however, this game is a must-play for any fan of the FPS genre. Expand

Well honestly, if you are a mindless moron you wouldn't mind shooting at random stuff and humans. This game adds in compelling new gameplay and story. It seemed rather original, yet at the same time familiar. It played off a lot of cool things and most things a common person would think of during an alien attack, they thought of and put it in the game. The game's story was nice, and the voice acting is as expected; professional. If the characters didn't talk, I wouldn't be interested in this game. While the game seems overall good, it isn't the aliens being in the game that made it bad (If you don't want aliens and just want to shoot at other humans play COD and stop trying to play other games.). The real flaw of the game is how certain features are either glitched, broken, or un-balanced. When you play this game (Even on just normal mode) your nano suit is about as good as the Korean's bullet proof vest. 10 shots to their vest and they still stand, 10 shots to yours and you die (assuming you have maximum armor!). The FY71, which looked like an AK47, had next to perfect accuracy despite being a machine gun. And the vehicle controls are just terrible. But the vehicles can get damaged and that is actually shown, which is almost never seen on games these days. Now I'm sure if you've read all the review you have noticed I haven't commented on the graphics yet. That's because... Well graphics don't make the game, so it doesn't effect my rating, whether they are bad or good. Graphics are also pretty biased, the beauty of a game is in the eyes of the player. Anyways, if you don't like the concept of the game, go play something else, if seeing aliens in a game instantly decreases your rating of the game to 1, then stop reviewing games. Overall, it's an alright but VERY frustrating game. Expand

Anyway, to the game itself: after fixing that issue about 3 days after buying it, I went into Crysis with some worry that it would just be a sightseeing tour with no other purpose than as a hardware benchmark. After getting into however, I found it to have interesting non-linear gameplay and tactical play thanks to your nanosuit. The way the nanosuit works is that you can direct suit power to several different abilities: speed, strength (improves throwing and jumping), armour and an invisibility cloak. These different traits as well as weapon attachments make combat varied and interesting. Bad bits? The story for starters; I know Crysis isn't exactly meant to be a masterful piece of arty writing, but I just find the story and characters to be weak and badly written. Cutscenes. Never have your character do things in cutscenes that you can do in gameplay. Visuals. This isn't really a negative in terms of engine power; because Crysis is a very good looking game, it's just that the art design is a bit bland and unimaginative. So to conclude; if you're looking for something like Far Cry, but with less frustrations and AI that isn't equipped with x-ray vision, then feel free to give Crytek your money, just don't expect much support from them. Stunning graphics and realistic combat are what shine in this game. However, nothing new in terms of gameplay. Fast-paced, but also very linear, therefore little opportunity for exploration. multiplayer: it was actually quite fun, but not executed as well as i had expected, but it was still fun. the mode power struggle was a tad confusing at the start, but you'll get it soon enough (and if you bother to watch the tutorial), and it was very fun. it let you play around with the game's toys, and the game mode resembles kind of more of a "conquest" mode from battlefield, but with added things, like-well, it is hard to explain, but the main objective is to destroy the enemy's base by capturing the capture points, and then (you somehow; i forgot how :/) you get the super weapons which you use to blow up the enemy's base. the other game mode is instant action/team deathmatch/ deathmatch, where you just kill each other, but it still has all of the tactical stuff in there. now, my main complaints for the multiplayer are:
you dont really know if you have shot someone, or if you have been hit; if you are hit, there is only a damage indicator, but no "omph" that you would get from the campaign if you were shot. and also, the only way to tell if you hit someone is if their name appears above their head, but there is no "hit" sound that was present in the campaign. my next complaint about multiplayer is lack of destruction (yes, i think that is a bit much to ask for for a 2007 game, but i think they could have done it anyway). it would have been much more cooler, and more epic, and shooting at a fence (that could have been easily broken down in the campaign) and finding it indestructible just dumbed down my multiplayer experience a little, but all well. also, it would have been cool if you could pick up objects like in multiplayer.... but too bad. awww, i would have liked to throw chickens at people on multiplayer, but all well. my last complaint about multiplayer is the lack of a proper ranking system. now, i dont want it to be like the terrible CoD, but a proper ranking system would have been nice. the ranking system in multiplayer is only available in power struggle mode, in which getting kills/ taking objectives gets you credits, which you can use to buy guns, attachments, add-ons (such as parachutes, and anti-nano things), and special vehicles/ weapons. however, your credits and rank is only on that ROUND on that SERVER, so when you switch rounds or switch servers, all of your hard work goes to waste, and your sense of achievement goes away....

despite it's problems, and its lack of improvements it could have had implemented, crysis is an work of art, and deserves to be in the hall of fame, next to classics such as half-life, and halo.

[Story] Play as a super soldier marine on a search and rescue mission somewhere in the Pacific. Fight against the Koreans and then fight against the Aliens. I love pretending to be a marine - respect. [Challenges] The game play is a series of missions - stealth mixed in with run and gun. Mastering the special abilities provided by your nanosuit is required and will deepen your appreciation of each mission. I looked forward to completing each and every mission - so much fun. Gun choices are limited but there is always a right one for the job. Driving is abysmal and the weakest part of the game so just avoid it whenever possible. Tank sequences conveyed the chaos of war a little too well. Flying sequences with the VTOL were confusing at first because they are time limited adventures and the game crashes your mission when you get out of sync - just reload and enjoy. I especially liked the zero gravity exploration and combat sequences. Variety made this game great ! Playing this game on Normal was straight forward with 90% of the game played without a reload. I am gonna play this again in six months. [Children] This is an adult only title. This game needs a beast of a PC to play this on high settings - in fact my last PC could not cut it so I waited 2 years after purchase to play the game - until I built a new PC ! Even with my new rig I had problems but only in the last boss battles - I had to turn down the graphics to medium to survive without a crash - I am not kidding (and I was not the only one). [Controls score 9] I always play with a Logitech keyboard and a Kensington trackball. Remapping the keys in game was easy, but with minor annoyances like some keys that are common to all transportation - we really should be able to remap all keys for each transport mode. [Sound score 10] I always play with headphones. Voice acting great. 3D sound perfect. SFX awsome. It's pacing was flawed, however it's systems flow with grace. It will always look incredible - however what many fail to recognize is that the actual game underneath - is kind of incredible as well. Just not perfect.

Throw in a couple of guns, explosions and tanks and a basic poorly thought out plot and call it a game, then hype it up by talking about the graphics.

Never mind the strange bugs that completely ruin immersion (AI floating, spinning around and running into each other - which in itself is quite funny, penetrating walls, disappearing geometry, enemies surviving direct rocket hits and falling from towers unscathed. Not to mention I think the whole entire 1.2 million soldiers from the North Korean army actually seem to be on this island. Countless waves of them appear and are obviously spawned at random without any thought). The story is stock standard, most game elements are taken from from Far Cry and disappointing all of the bad things from Far Cry as well. Onto the gameplay thus far - raiding countless base after base, while your teammates for some reason always hang back and make you go in alone - what is this Crytek? 1995? Perhaps they spent all their time and budget modelling foliage? More bugs I remember, Helicopters that have xray vision through scrub-lands making the environment utterly pointless, enemies who always know where you are but pretend not to.

Luckily I only got this for $7 off steam. Not even worth the download, but then again coming from these developers I knew I'd be in for a graphics tech demo - not a game. Poor game with great potential.

Probably the one of the best shooter experiences out there in terms of singleplayer. It all really comes down to the visuals. Sure the plot wasn't fantastic but when you are marveling at the sheer beauty of the game most of the time. It does have multiplayer but it's not all that worthwhile. The singleplayer is pretty unforgettable so if your machine can handle it get this game.

One of the very pleasant aspects of this game is that it makes you rethink what you just did, even if you succeeded. There are so many ways to attack the problems, that I sometimes just reload from a checkpoint to try it another way, even if I aced it. The best thing about Crysis is the playability. With well mapped keys (I don't like the default layout), you don't even think about it any more. It all just flows naturally and smoothly. The NPC AI is a bit on the stupid side and if you don't just rush into a crowd, it's pretty easy to pick them off one at a time by luring them where you want, but there are enough clusters of enemies to make this occasionally challenging until you find the best path through them. All in all, one of my favorite FPS of all time. I can't wait to try Crysis 2. Expand

I wasn't particularly impressed with the gameplay though. Despite its rather open environment, it felt very linear. All of the weapons in this game were bland, not much recoil and not much damage. I particularly disliked the cloaking function, and in that sense Crysis 0.0 (Far Cry) was better.
This game is pretty much Far Cry with nice graphics without mutants, but you do get some black squid shooting lasers.

Amazing graphics, fantastic physics that actually change gameplay when turned up, acceptable AI at maximum settings. The varied approaches to missions increase the replay value exponentially. I will never get sick of this game. 10/10.

I'm tired of this game getting a bad rap. Despite what some say, this was not just made to be a tech demo. When it was released, it had maybe the best graphics of it's time, but that doesn't take away from the story line, which is also fantastic. I would recommend, if your computer can handle it, to get the photo-realism mod. It looks spectacular.

I bought it for the Nanosuit! It gives the main character, Nomad, the ability to augment his skills in-game to suit the situation. This game is terrible, to sum it up. There are two options in this game:

This game has some good potential, but it fell short. What really breaks it, is the controls and sheer number of things to do with a gun are a bit over the top. Using suit powers is just a frustrating joke, since doing so means stopping mid combat, and in this game you are easily hurt. What also makes it frustrating is that ammo is far too precious. When you have to pick up all the ammo you come across on normal difficulty, you know there is something wrong. In addition, when I did get ammo, you had to pick it up manually, as if you would deny yourself of ammo? Often this caused me the trouble of pick up a weapon I did not want and dropping the old one with all the ammo I had saved up.

Whoever made this game's driving system needs to die. Never have I seen a car drive so poorly. Not only are you forced into 1st person driving, the steering is also rubbish. The steering is unresponsive and sluggish. I commend anyone who can get through anywhere at a decent speed without crashing.

What really ended it, was the way they made the controls work. The way I see it, they could have combined several key strokes in a few places to save the player. In fact, some essential controls, weren't even mapped on the keyboard for default! In the end what ruins the game is the feeling that you are fighting your own body, more than the enemy. This game would be great if EA knew that crouch and crawl don't have to be 2 different buttons.

I did not expect this however, it completely blew me away. I was expecting a Far Cry 2 of sorts but with added Nanosuits, but what I found transcended the aforementioned game and has now become the bar by which I judge other FPS's.

The graphics when played on Very High, or even High are just amazing, the faces are also fantastic, they can provide real competition to Rockstar's newest motion capture camera's and their engine a good 4 years older than it. You can actually see emotion in their faces, anger as they're shooting you, apathy as they just wander about the yard, then fear as you're shooting them or as you grab them by the neck, it's truly amazing.

The physics are also fantastic, you shoot down a tree, the tree falls, it hits an enemy, they die because a tree fell on them, simple enough. You throw a fish at a Korean with Maximum Strength, it stuns him, because as strong as you are, it's a fish.

I was shooting a rocket to take out a helicopter when I noticed that the palm trees it flew by began to sway a little bit due to the heat or wind generated by the rocket brushing past, truly amazing, can really immerse yourself in the game with such a realistically portrayed physics and graphics engine.

The gameplay itself, being the most important part of course, is for lack of words, a blessing. You can play the game literally however you want, take a pacifist approach and not kill a single person (as you don't actually need to), just sneak by them altogether, or just knock everyone out with sleeping darts as you progress. There is an entire island just waiting for you, just run about and find little teams just traversing the land that you can either ignore or toy with, depending on how you want to deal with it.

I once thought of escaping the island, so I grabbed a boat and started to make my escape when the radar indicated that I had been spotted, confused I looked around and saw some smoke appear out of a distant warship, realising what was about to happen I jumped ship and not a moment too soon, 2 torpedo's just dessicated my boat as I was now left to swim back, not wishing to have more rockets fired my way I started my way back to shore when the radar alerted me again, thinking I was about to explode I turned around to at least see the torpedo's before they killed me, instead I was greeted by a nice dorsal fin sticking out of the water, I look under the water praying to God it's just a dolphin, but of course not, a shark quickly swims at me and eats me.

The scenery is stunning, the AI manageable (not the best, but certainly not the worst, they will at least attempt to flank you), the graphics/physics absolutely generations ahead of even current games. The story is basic, but done in a new way, with some nice twists along the way and an absolutely fantastic zero gravity section.

My only con with this game, actually 2, are the clipping errors, where an object will hit you, slow moving or fast, doesn't matter, the game registers that 2 objects are in the same location and decides to stop this problem by killing the 2, and since you're the living one between the two, it's you who die's for what is generally no reason.

The 2nd however? The fact this game has ruined what used to be decent games by making me realise that THIS is out there, and that real life isn't actually shiny and brown, but filled with colour and life.

As my all time favourite FPS, even over HL2 (it's sort of in it's own class, I can only really judge it against other Valve makes as they tend to blow the competition out the water) and other on-line games, I give it 10/10.

I have played other games released in the last year that don't even come close to the beauty that Crysis displays. The environment is a character itself in this one. The plants move when you walk by, the water makes ripples when you step in it, there are grouse that run in little packs and move out of your way. The sun rises and sets sending rays of light and growing shadows, it FEELS cold when there is frost. It's that good. Visually stunning, still. And that is saying a lot in the world of four year old graphics. It has been a long time since a shooter grabbed my attention and made me not want to stop playing. A LOOONG TIME, like say HALO. Shooters too often are the same game with a different title (pick any war simulation on the market today, doesn't matter who makes it, same game). This one felt different. Because the environment mattered so much it changed the whole game. Plants make cover, walk too far forward and you are seen, too far back and you can't see. Shadows, lighting all affect the AI. These AI enemies actually act with and react to the environment. Need to get past a pack of bad guys but low on ammo? Toss a stick and they'll go see what it was. Crash a truck and they'll check it out and when they don't find you, they will act nervously, searching the area. It is some of the best AI in a shooter, even now four years later. Now, I'm not saying these guys are gonna win any intelligence awards, they're dumb AI. But some of the best dumb AI out there. Weapons are all unique and have their perks. Used properly all weapons are appropriately lethal. In the end this game was the whole package. Good story, great action, jaw dropping graphics, a shooter that actually rewards strategy and an environment that makes formulating one satisfying and fun. If you haven't played Crysis and want a good shooter, get this one. The game played bug free but did display a few graphical glitches that did not affect game play, just looked odd occasionally. EDIT : Game will not play completely on DX10, which it sets by default if your system is capable. It is necessary to force the game to play in DX9 in order to finish the game. 2 points removed from rating for this bug. Expand

One of the worst game i have ever bought. I can't judge the multiplayer but the solo campaign is really short. The ending is bugged even after 3 years. Some vehicles might be bugged or so slow that i almost crushed my keyboard. The graphics are good, the beginning is ok but the rest of the game is just boring and frustrating.
    Don't buy it.

The second half of the game definitely bogs down the first as the gameplay becomes increasingly linear and the plot more ridiculous, but it's still good fun. This game is well worth your time, especially if you have the hardware to run it at max settings.

The gameplay, too, is decent as it allows you to tackle each level and specific problem strategically, rather than the plain linear style of other shooters. This also means that dying is not a frustrating event, as when you respawn you can simply try a different route or tactic, rather than having to keep trying the same thing. The problem with the game is that after you enjoy fighting the Koreans on the surface of the island, you have to move underground and face the aliens that the game is based around in a slightly dull collection of levels. However, despite the fact that this part cannot match the incredible start of the game, it doesn't ruin the game like people say and it does feel necessary for the plot. Expand

I believed that FPS genre has reached a point where there is not much room for innovation, especially after Portal. Crysis for me, took action FPS in a new direction.

Crysis is set in the year 2019. Us scientists have made some significant discoveries on one of Lingshan Islands. The North Korean government then goes on to seal the island and hold several American citizens in custody. Raptor Team, a US Army Special Forces unit is sent to rescue the scientists. This was not a war but a rescue mission. However, things turn nasty when they discover that they are not just fighting the Koreans, but extra terrestrial life as well.

As a part of the special forces unit, the player, i.e. Nomad, gets to use a nano suit. This suit gives the player the ability to use speed, stealth and strength. These functions are seamlessly integrated into the game. After a while, switching between different functions is so natural and intuitive. The suit changes the way the game is played. It can be used to employ different strategies to take out enemies. The semi sandbox nature of the game allows for a lot of freedom in the initial levels.

Combinations of abilities will lead to some very interesting gameplay moments. The same scenario can be played differently depending on the gameplay of choice, either use stealth throughout, or run and gun, or a little bit of both.

I would call a game immersive when I tend to keep playing and forget to quick save. This happened to me a lot in Crysis. I kept going and I never really saved. If I died, I was happy replaying from the last save point, and trying a different approach. Personally, I have not had that kind of immersion in a very long time.

Let me make this very clear, this is not Far Cry with better visuals. Far Cry is a good game, but this is way better. I played this game on hard difficulty, and I found it to be challenging and fun.

Visuals in this game are stunning. They are much talked about, and rightly so. In my opinion, this is the best looking game on the PC yet. I played the game on Core2Quad 2.66GHz, 4GB DDR 800, GeForce 260GTX and Acer 24â

The four suit modes (Armor, Speed, Strength, and Cloak) create new ways to approach a situation. You could either run and gun in armor mode, pick them off one by one with your speed and rocket off before they have a chance to shoot you, beat the living **** out of them, or go for the stealthy approach and sneak around to flank. The game still has a feeling of lineage through the pseudo-sandbox gameplay, but there is enough variation to keep it interesting through the entire game, and even another playthrough. The AI could use some minor work, but there were only a few incidents where it was as bad as many people say. The graphics are amazing, and this goes without saying. Even to today's standards they are slightly above par. Not a game to play on your family Pentium 3 computer, it does require a nice graphics card to get the most out of it. The game is not perfect however. The physics sometimes likes to glitch ie, on a few occasions i will touch a large moving object and be instantly killed. It's a minor problem considering how infrequently it occurs, and since you can quicksave any time, a death won't set you back that far (provided you save). The storyline is solid, and I have no major qualms with it. The characters are likeable, and don't whine too much about your performance. The unveiling of the true enemies is done very well, and creates an air of suspense throughout the first third of the game. The game has no major problems other than the few aforementioned glitches and iffy AI. Personally, I found the game to be quite difficult. I played through on Normal difficulty and found it to be quite a challenge. Something that got quite frustrating was that there is a lot going on at once, and a lot to keep track of which spells frequent deaths. There are a few "Are you f*cking kidding me!?" moments which are frustrating. However, the difficulty does give you a feeling of accomplishment when you do succeed. Crysis is an intriguing masterpiece with only a few minor problems, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the FPS genre. Most decent gaming computers should be able to run the game on at least medium settings. For a reference point I played the game on an i7 720QM (1.6Ghz), 8Gb RAM, Mobility Radeon 5870 1Gb DDR5, and I played on high settings with 2x AA 1650 x 1050 and got very acceptable fps (30 or higher) except during a few graphics intensive scenes of the game. I was however frustrated at the hit detection or lack thereof as well as the huge amount force required to fall ones foe, ammo is scarce, demanding conservation however enemies are indeed very difficult to kill and in some cases seem to offer no resemblance to an actual human body sometimes taking what seems as an entire magazine of ammunition before falling to what seems like bleeding to death or starvation. On the other hand explosives offer what seems as an underpowered effect on enemies and overpowered effect on vehicles, it is reasonable to expect in this title to drop a grenade on a truck with enemy very close and expect a spectacular wreck and all of your enemy standing, multiple grenade types do not alleviate this concern because their very nature is unfitting to the game scheme, a flash bang in an open environment with enemies peppered on the map seems almost pointless other than to simply piss off all of the enemies outside the range of the weapon. As far as game play, I don't understand what people really are talking about. This is what keeps me playing this game over 2 years after I have bought it. I love the fact that having a suit with only 4 options gives me so many ways to approach a situation. The enemy AI seems to act appropriately for most of my actions, but there are a few times I have to scratch my head. The plot was fine with me. Off the wall, yes... But gave the game a creepy feel to it, and kind of made the game two separate experiences with the same multitude of options to solve each. Overall, I just found this game fun. I've become kind of immune to the FPS craze, and while I've played games like Modern Warfare 2, and all the Halo games, Crysis is still the pinnacle of fun to me. Giving me the option to run and gun, or stand in the middle of a Korean Base fully cloaked. My one complaint, and it is a complaint in most games, the vehicles drive like cardboard boxes. In fact, the only fun I had was with the tank level, only because it was the only vehicle in the game that drove like it should. I definitely recommend this game. Once you have completed one mission you have for the most part completed them all. Even with the occasional twist this still leaves the story lacking in luster. Early on the player gets the feeling that this game evolves around this elite soldier and his technologically advanced suit. That sounds exciting until you get further into the story and find out that the common enemy takes as much damage as you do, the only advantage this super suit from the future really gives you is the ability to heal, blend in with the environment, jump higher and run faster. That's fine and dandy but makes no difference when being chased by a gun ship and fighting off enemy's that just don't die. Some readers call that a challenge I call it the theft of re-playability that strangles the life out of the fun factor. Great physics and awesome graphics are the true structural integrity that holds this game together, with out these two crucial parts this game would have fallen apart miserably. You may wonder after bashing this game like I have, why would I give it a 7? Well anyone who knows video games and how much work goes into them would not be so quick to give them a bad rating. This game was well constructed besides the lack of good story not terrible just not good, and after the major hype put out by the publisher, I found that this game was a bit to mediocre. So a 7 I feel is just. Expand

Graphics are 8/10 overall, most realistic looking water I've ever seen in any game, the outdoor lighting is decent as well, but the textures on the environments like a lousy JPEG image pasted over a low polygon 3D mesh, and that is the one thing I cannot see past. I must add that the Cry-engine plays out to me as a long script of dirty-coding with poor optimization and utility of hardware, I am on a performance system(as of 1 Jan 2010) with enthusiast level hardware and overclocking, and the performance hit I get when compared against the graphics I see on screen just doesn't add up. The gameplay is fantastic though, lots of enemies, lots of ammo laying around, open ended approaches to the objectives, and decent vehicles, but the physics for the vehicles really suck - the jeep/humvee vehicle floats about after hitting a hump as if it were made of styrofoam, and so does the boat. On higher difficulties the only approach to a group of enemies is to sneak up all the way, and some enemies can tank way too much damage to be realistic. All in all a Good game, and a good sign of things to come in games, I just REALLY hope they don't water down the graphical standard just to accommodate the console platforms with Crysis 2. Expand

IW. there's no sound in space) and the EMP devices they use? Only EMP we can make is from a nuclear or thermonuclear weapon.] Love how they try to be like L4D :sarcasm:, but don't make enemies look like zombies, just running in and dying constant and do some complete linear run'n'gun where you can't die. Anyone who thinks 4 2, or any cod series is better should be in a metal institution; look at cod2, came out in 2005, how far down is that from Far Cry or Half-Life 1 & 2, which came out in 2004. Crytek games are usually cheaper than other games in the same genre, even though they pwn all of them. Crytek, even though there games look similar, make completely different games (about the tropical enviroments, who doesn't like to fight on a lush jungle island?). Cretek also makes a new engine and takes time developing a game unlike IW who just makes a sequel to a sequel of a sequel, not changing anything, but the sound (and didn't 50 cent voice a marine?). And by the way for all the noobs that cant play Crysis, get a pc that can run it well. Expand

This game is very fun for me to play around in, and there's so much to experiment with and do. The levels feel very wide open and free, with tons of tactics you can use. The gameplay is very bad, just overrated because of the graphics, and thats the only reason why i bought it. The game is bad, the graphic is good. If it had normal graphics it wouldnt have been in top 100

This game would have been great if it came out in say 1999/2000 when Half-Life came out. However just coming out in 2007 already feels dated. The game doesn't seem that well thought out either you have a choice to pick up almost anything thing and use it as a weapon, but why? Wen you have many type of guns. Also I'm not sure why every enemy solider has to be shot so many times before they die. I understand I'm wearing a supersuit and you will fight others in them as well but the regular wimpy koreans? This game is a bit of a sandbox which is nice so there isn't only one way to take care of a problem so it does make you feel like you are in control however overall I do regret buying this game. My real cote is 6.5, Yeah alright, this game has great graphics , i run it on very high with my 5870... For those who say its a revolutionary gameplay i say not at all, for me, the gameplay of crysis is like a random shooter game. The developpers said that they were proud of their deep universe, of course its deep, but too deep, almost like ArmA or battlefield games, and its easy for a beginner on shooter games to get lost in that universe and the difficulty is huge, even if you played at easy, ive played on easy and Delta... Conclusion: This game as nothing special for me, its an random shooter game and very very very repetitive, its boring wen you play more than an hour and this game is more a benchmark for your video card than a game. Destined to be a classic, Crysis is a creative and technological marvel that eclipses every other shooter released this year. [Holiday 2007, p.60]
  2. Crysis thrives on putting the onus on you to create your own brand of action and adventure in its stunningly beautiful locations. You and the game can haphazardly create moments of such gaming brilliance that often you pretty much have to stand up and applaud. [Christmas 2007, p.44]

This is some fast, well designed gameplay with enough options to allow players to use their own style of attack with satisfying suit abilities and weapons. Crytek has upped their attention to detail in presentation and dropped the worst parts of "Far Cry’s" story.
