Cralon is an atmospheric indie dungeon crawler that blends classic RPG elements with an old-school design. While exploration and crafting are engaging, combat feels imprecise and sometimes frustrating. Despite its flaws, it’s a charming debut with clear potential.

An atmospheric dungeon crawler for fans of the genre who can overlook the combat system's shortcomings.

Technically shaky, lacking in gameplay and atmosphere. Recommended only for particularly nostalgic gothic veterans with an unconditional longing for more Ruhr Valley fantasy—and with enough patience to make it work, provided you approach it with enough goodwill and sympathy for the small team. Everyone else should be advised against visiting this shaft: the charm of the mine doesn’t bridge every chasm.

Cralon is a truly clunky game, and its few merits will only be appreciated by the most die-hard fans of dungeon crawlers – those who aren’t put off by the clumsy combat, numerous glitches or the very limited variety of enemies. The debut from the new studio founded by the co-creators of Gothic is a disappointment.

A half-baked and unfinished attempt at a game, which has been thrown onto the market here for €20. There is nothing left here of the legacy of the former Gothic studio.
