    Graphics sucks, cheaters dominate. I know that, but i seriously don't give a f&$#.For example, one game is entire 2D, but the gameplay makes you feel that your in the clouds.THIS IS THE PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CS! Telling you not to shoot too much and shoot your gun steadily. You may suck at the first time you play, but it's part of the game, your never good automatically, you have to GET GOOD. The only thing i disliked about Counter Strike are the hackers and cheaters, but it's a rare chance to see them, and the AWP Magnum sniper being so strong but expensive. The game offers a large variety of maps, guns, and if your sick of that, there are tons of Modded maps, Skins, and Mods for the game like Zombie Mod, Surfing, Jail Break, and even Deathmatchs.… Expand

    One of the best first person shooters of all time. This game has survived the ages, despite Condition Zero and Source being released. Competitive and casual play never get old. Easily my most played games ever.

Most of the time teamwork is not needed, but here (1.6) you need to practice strategies etc. Yes, there are hackers but if you think everyone is hacking then you clearly just suck.     Simply incredible. I'm late playing this game (Mar. 2009), but it's still one of the top three games I've played on any of the current systems (and I own all three.) Although if you're playing the game now and you consider yourself any kind of gamer, make sure you download the update and disable the vitachambers so you can actually die. If you don't, any and all challenge is removed from the game because you can never really die. The good news is if you disable the vitachambers, you can still save at any time. So while I died a lot while I figured out how to take down some baddie or group of baddies, I always had a recent save to fall back on so I could try again. Back to the game. Atmosphere. Story. Gameplay. THis game has it all. I so love the crossbow with the bolt trap arrows.. Brilliant! And to Chris R. comment below, yes, you use the wrench a fair bit early on, but as you get the better weapons, the grenade launcher and crossbow, and especially once you find the terminals to upgrade them, I put my wrench away pretty much for good. And the plasmids are great fun too. And the camera, so shooting pictures of your enemies which allows you to learn more about them and kill them better, brilliant. If you haven't played this game, you owe it to yourself to try. I don't truthfully expect the sequel to be this good, especially since it's a different studio doing it, but you never know.     this is the best GAME ever made. I have played every FPS game out, nothing compares to this game. the graphics are still very good for a game that came out in 2000 and the mechanics and gameplay doesn't compare to any other game. all other fps games are a HUGE dissapointment. CS IS THE BEST GAME EVER MADE.

    Been playing Counter-Strike since 2000. The most amazing game I have ever laid my eyes upon. Still to this day, 9 years later, as I have grown up with counter-strike through the years, we continue to live on together. Amazing. My kids will be playing this game in no time. Counter-Strike Source, as new as it is, doesn't even match up to this!

CS is a well balanced game and there are servers out there where admins will take care of the hackers!! The game is well known for leagues and lanning! I been to the majority of the following.     Good weaponry, good maps, bad gameplay. People way to often cheat, not to mention those jerks that Flashbang their entire team at the game start... and Sierra doesn't seem to give a sh*t about the cheating...in fact, the lastest patch actually made it EASIER for people to cheat.

    I have never played a game as good as Counter Strike and I never will (except maybe Counter Strike:Source). The Counter Strike series overall has been the best and will remain the best and most played game in the world.

    Like all games it does have its flaws. The only downside about this game is the people playing it and abusing (being stupid/idiots/annoying to others) a past time that many people enjoy.     Played this game since Beta, still the only game I go back to after every other game, I can never get over the gameplay and league potentials. GG (P.S. 1.6 is alot more realistic then source, no foot-HS's )

    Score says it all. There's another version out called Counter-Strike: Source, but it's nothing compared to how the original Counter-Strike is. Plus, now adays it's really really cheap, like 10 dollars off of steam. As well, it has like the biggest competitive gaming community in the world, with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of tournaments and players etc... good stuff.

    I played this game since one of the BETA's and it still rocks. The most addictive game MP ever. No matter how long you don't play, after 5 minutes playing you're hooked again. If you don't have it yet, buy it. Worth your money!

    I only started since 1.3 but even so, this game is still one of my favorites to play and still continues to entertain me. As for it's update CS: Source, I can't say the same for. CS 1.6 is definatelly a classic.

    The interface is layed out really well and being able to edit them is great. Everyone has their own way of playing. The guns made are very balanced. Each with its own advantage and disadvantages. The HUD are so detailed and perfectly positoned.

Even more so when I went to a lan center and played with 31 others on lan. After playing pubs for a few months I soon learned the teamwork clan aspect of the game (5v5 in CAL) and I was hooked even more. Playing matches in a 5v5 clan vs clan environment I remember playing this for the first time in high school in 2000 on a 56k modem (Pentium 400, Riva TNT) and thinking how awesome it was. Even more so when I went to a lan center and played with 31 others on lan. After playing pubs for a few months I soon learned the teamwork clan aspect of the game (5v5 in CAL) and I was hooked even more. Playing matches in a 5v5 clan vs clan environment at high levels is the best gaming experience you can have right now in my opinion. Now it's 7 years later and I've graduated from college and am about to get married with a new job, upgraded computer (Quad Core 3.4ghz, 8800GTS) on broadband I still enjoy this game as much as I did back in 2000. Of course, I don't have as much time to play and am not in a clan anymore but it's still fun to go in and join pick up games or enter a pub server for gun game deathmatch in your free time. CS: Source was a dissapointment but this is a timeless classic that stands the test of time. Even now it's the most popular FPS game in the world.… Expand

    Dude, this is a game that came out over 10 years ago and is still going strong with the online community. Even with all its newer versions and upgrades, the original still hasn't been beat. Simple shooter action but done with perfection and to the tee precision.

    this is the most popular game in this 'hole' world, that real gamers still playing even they forbidden to touch a pc. i think this game will stay on the market at least 2 years. want explanation? here some: 1)the graphic is good and doesn't stacking comps. 2)it upgrade your reflexes. 3)it can pass 6 hr in 2 min. i think its enough for now.

    This is one of the best multiplayer games created ever! I think it won't be forgotten, because thera're lots of mods, because it's simply edittable and it makes people play it! Let the CS rock!

    IS a really great Game the best for me in first person actually the problem is that valve sux a lot of people use cheats :S so i dont know what to think about it . is valve doing hes job ....     It's the best game I ever have played of FPS games. It also it very hard game in clanwars, and it surprise me it is so old, and so nice game play, i think it never will be replacet.

But this game and many others have always a disadvantage that I hate, are cheating. If it were possible to set up the game and then it would be impossible to use cheats.     I've played this game since 2000, I even still have the retail disk's sitting next to me, i love this game it's one of my favorite games i have ever played in my life time, if your into counter terrorism or just here to have some fun you will love this game as it provides custom mod servers to play on.
