    One of the best games of all time... Never forget the great times on this game! Miss it so much! If the Aus servers were still up and full, I would still be crankin out this classic. Source was a massive step backwards.

    This was fantastic for its time and was easily the best FPS out there. People still buy it and that's because it is worth buying. (Although, watch out for the pro veterans who have played this game since it came out) 10/10

    Greatest FPS ever made, i still prefer CS Source, but i have to admit, this is THE ONE ! No other online shooter come close today, to find a game, you really have to look back at Quake 3 or Unreal.

    Best MOD for Half-Life. This game has the best multiplayer you have played (the problem is the damn LAG) and a very simple plot that is police and terrorists. Definitely the best game of VALVE

    This game has so many features, To Mods, To gameplay changes, For a game of its time, it has so many great things going for it. The game is still really good and very popular. Ive probably put more hours in this game then any game ive ever played. And thats saying alot as much as i get bored

    If you get past the older graphics. Its actually a very nice starter FPS

    The most influential multiplayer FPS of all time. This game in 2012 was still in the top 3 played games every single week, 12 years after it's release. If that doesn't say something then I don't know what does.

    The best online FPS in gaming history. Other games like this are much worse than this masterpiece. You should absolutely try it out. If you love to shoot people or play in a great community, this is your game. Graphics is pretty old, but who cares about that... The only point in this game is you to be better and have fun. And these are guaranteed.

    A true masterpiece. This game is perfect in pretty much every way unlike the newer CS games. There aren't any silly updates to this game adding un needed guns or un needed nerfs or buffs. This is pure perfection. CSGO may have more features and depth, but that brings a lot of issues with it. Those issues that Counter-Strike 1.6 does not have. 10/10

    When a mod becomes so popular that it outshines the game it was modded off of and spawns 2 sequels, you know it is an excellent mod. This game is fun for hundreds of hours, even in spite of the minor glitches. This game stands the test of time.

    I have been playing this game for 11 years now and still cant get enough of it.
    Everytime I play on a server, I cant help but remember the good old days back in 2006 when there were so many servers/game types to choose from, alongside a huge community with all the fun and laughs involved with people you met in-game.     Even though there arent as many servers around today and people playing this game online have lessened, the game is still equally as fun and competitive.
    People trash talking you just tend to ignore, others become really fun to play against as you will find yourself constantly in sessions with them and bettering your skills against people that are better than you.
    Its one of those games where you will die countless times from people who have had much more experience than you and know everything for each map, but you just cannot hate on it.
    You will rage quit, but jump back on in 5 minutes.
    I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes the fps genre (not including call of duty) as this game is far more competitive than so many shooters today so you probably wont last unless you explore classics.
    This game introduced me to online gaming and it has left so many good memories. I guarantee it will never be forgotten.

    This is my whole childhood. I played more than any other game, and still like to play it sometimes. I watched the competitions, and saw the amazing players (Spawn, cogu, etc) moves. It was amazing.

    I made my first PC because of this game. I made my second PC (2014) because of this game. BEST MP exp out there. cannot say enough about the fun, the mods, the mechanics of this game. It is simply perfect in the sense of getting good at anything [sports - skills otherwise]. I played CS 1.5 and was ADDICTED, and built a PC after xbox 360 got me back into gaming after my old PC failed (henceI made my first PC because of this game.     Still in my memory as the best FPS multiplayer of all time. Hugely skill based. One death per round made it count. Still never experienced anything in any game like going on a real heater kill streak in good ol' CS!

    The next evolution in the first person genre. This game inspired Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and now every game wants to be a first person shooter because of this game's success. Best damn shooter I've ever played in my life.

    Nostalgic, along with Half-Life. Cutting edge for the time tho! Great multiplayer game with other players, first-person shooter, graphically similar to Half-Life with, across the time included assists from bots and scripts. I should repair my mistake, "Cutting edge for that time tho!".

    It is amazing how revolutionary this game was. I feel like it changed whole FPS genre and lot of players love it till this day. Game is still played a lot and I agree it should be that way. А какие были киберспортивные турниры? Легенда Маркелов, Спаун, ГетОпределённо это легенда. Разработка была в 1999 году, конечно ни о какой HD графике и речи идти не могло, но сложная стрельба - которая компенсировалась прямыми руками, тактики - которые компенсировались твоим мозгом, комьюнити - с которым было приятно пообщаться на пабликах, основное составляющее было из взрослых мужиков.     - Когда вместо awp был слон
    - Вместо mp5sd была морковка - Вместо aug была приближалка или B44 - Когда купил оружие и    Не могу себе позволить не поставить меньше 10 баллов. Эта игра на столько легендарная, что на момент написания этого отзыва в нее играют тысячи людей. Я уверен, что сколько лет бы не прошло, рано или поздно мы будем возвращаться в эту игру, чтобы вспомнить те времена:

    Counter-Strike (1.6) is an all-time classic and one of the first games that I owned and played on my Steam account. I even bought it boxed and with that, started my journey on Steam. Counter-Strike is a simple, yet so fun, game. You choose a team, in which your objectives vary. You can play as terrorists or Counter-terrorists. As    Ultimate classic that still holds up today.

    Counter-Strike (1.6) is an all-time classic and one of the first games that I owned and played on my Steam account. I even bought it boxed and with that, started my journey on Steam.

    Counter-Strike is a simple, yet so fun, game. You choose a team, in which your objectives vary. You can play as terrorists or Counter-terrorists. As terrorists, you keep and defend hostages, place bombs at specific sites and prevent the counter-terrorists from defusing them. As counter-terrorists, you try to save the hostages and defuse the bombs that terrorist have placed.

    Meanwhile, you pump each other full of lead. I especially liked the VIP mode, in which one player is appointed as a target that will win the round if eliminated. The other players on your team need to defend you with their lives until the time is up to win. It is a unique and fun experience that was most fun at LAN parties.

    When starting the round, you choose/buy your weapons. You can choose a variety of pistols, sub-machine guns, heavy assault rifles, sniper rifles and grenades. Some weapons work better for you than others, so half the fun is trying to figure out which weapon has the right feeling and handling for you. The weapons themselves however, are well balanced and I did not experience any unfair advantages with a specific weapon.

    The Graphics in Counter-Strike are really nice for the time. They are well rendered and textured, and the frame rate is spot on. No tearing, no lag, it runs smooth as butter. The animations are stiff and when killed, you drop dead as a brick, but this the charm that the game has.

    In terms of sound, this game nails it, especially for the time period. Guns sound aggressive and loud, and explosions can be felt through your headset. It is spot on and holds up great with today’s standards.

    The controls are easy to learn and work fluent and responsive.

    My only problem at the time with Counter-Strike was the limited time to choose your gear before the round starts. It is completely logical that players do not wait until everyone choose their shiny guns, but when first playing, I was still checking what weapon would be best for me, and before I knew it, I had forty holes in me. But, like with many other First Person Shooters, especially online, I just need to git gut.

    I still cherish the memories of this game at the many LAN parties I attended to, the pure joy, tension and competitive game play that had this unique experience back then. The thrill when you finally blow someone up with a well lobbed grenade, the satisfaction when you finally sent a successful sniper bullet through someone’s skull, it was just amazing. Counter-Strike will always be one of my favorite online shooters today.

    The upgraded Counter-Strike: Source introduces new graphics and an even smoother experience, however, Counter-Strike (1.6) will always remain an all-time gem that can be played any time. When I am feeling old, I just play this version over the Source remake or Global Offensive, just for good old times.

    1.6 version is the best fps game in the whole history and I feel I was so lucky to play it when it just came out. I can still remember the time when I played with my friends after class. But it was so sad that I was not allowed to play anymore when I was in high school. I was only able to play with bots but still a 10-game.

    This game is the only game that I have bought and continued to play as time passes. This game is addictive and very fun. Just killing one person in a regular server makes me feel good on the inside. I would recommend this game to anyone who like shooting games. The reason I gave it a nine is because steam and some server administrators neglect the "cheaters".     This game traveled along time into 1.6, and now CZ, and then today, CS:S arrived. If you like CZ or CS:S DO NOT forget about CS 1.6--1.0 It is like the creator of CS:S and CZ, Hope they make a another good cs game! NO CS ONLINE I HATE IT BADLY!

    This game is really good even though it was made in early 2000 its still good in 2008. I never get tired of playing this game or the newer version. Its one of the few games that requires enough skill, but not so hard it frustrates you. People who think this game is bad or too hard just are too used to easy games where you spray all the time.     Sweet Game... BUT.. there are many cheaters still on servers. and VALVE has yet not done much to fix this. Other than this disapointing peice the overall game is quite satisfying.

    Effing awesome. It would be better if the servers werren't crawling with hackers. Maybe if it wasn't so hacker-friendly. Other than that. Amazing.

    I rated 9 because: 7 points for nice interactive game. 3 for large choice of weopons choices of what to do places and full explanation for everything. -1 for lack of superb graphics. the graphics are good but not superb.

    This game is just a blast to play. The fact that you must buy your weapons actually influences the gameplay somewhat, and you won't always find yourself picking the most expensive one you can get. Great maps (with a few exceptions) and awesome communication options (YES! voice chat!) round out a stellar package. The whole consept about playing against each other in teams and try to win, is used in every game and sport. CS is a sport. I suggest that valve and steam makes CS on a higher level at that point, but make it like those who don't have a PC that is capable to run high graphic, also can play CS at a lower grapich.     I´m a brazilian player of this game, and in my opnion it´s awesome. Of course, like any other game, it has some issues to be corrected. One of the things I don´t like about the game is that it´s so easy to a player that never played before (Newbies) shoot headshots at anyone. The other thing is about Sniper (AWP) - It´s a lot unreal to use a sniper rifle I´m a brazilian player of this game, and in my opnion it´s awesome. Of course, like any other game, it has some issues to be corrected. One of the things I don´t like about the game is that it´s so easy to a player that never played before (Newbies) shoot headshots at anyone. The other thing is about Sniper (AWP) - It´s a lot unreal to use a sniper rifle jumping or running, and kill someone with one single shot.     This is truly a great game. Way better than the others Black hawk down,delta force, delta force-xtrem etc...but how ever there still needs to be a few things fixed like Calvin said, the players hold left handed guns in wrong hand, and same with right...and how u can defuse thew boxes, or even walls... but other than that the game rocks!

    bugs need to be fixed but i love paintball mods servers (very rare) the mods cant be beat but i still like halo2 mods more on xbox live plus its full of action

    I like this game and it's fun to play. But... It has some minor faults. Glitching and hacking is easy to come by because some people have no life and dedicate their wasted lives to finding ways to do that. Besides that though, I enjoy letting off some steam and blasting off heads.

The only thing i disliked about Counter Strike are the hackers and cheaters, but it's a rare chance to see them, and the AWP Magnum sniper being so strong but expensive. The game offers a large variety of maps, guns, and if your sick of that, there are tons of Modded maps, Skins, and Mods for the game like Zombie Mod, Surfing, Jail Break, and even Deathmatchs.… Expand

Most of the time teamwork is not needed, but here (1.6) you need to practice strategies etc. Yes, there are hackers but if you think everyone is hacking then you clearly just suck.     Yeah... Counter-Strike is dah best... obviously... when it gets repeditive you can always swtich to mod servers, like Wc3, or Repspawn, or Funmaps.

    Such an addictive game - It's time consuming, and it never gets old. It's ten years this year, and still it's fun to play, even though you run into to some bots and cheaters. That's why it only gets a nine. It shouldn't be that difficult to integrate a somewhat better cheating protection.

    I think this game is very good, it has a lot of support, it has a lot of modes, such as jail, zombies, call of duty, and so on...

    I've played this game a lot of time in no steam mode, but I've bought it because I've enjoyed a lot.


    I put a ten for this game. CS Source is very good too.
    I recommend this game for the public.
