  1. The game introduces some really original ideas, but the lack of team AI, and broken gameplay let it down.

It may sound like a bad idea, but the surprising truth is that this mixture of genres works very well indeed, and there are plenty of inventive and unique features in Chaos League to silence those who bemoan the lack of innovation in modern gaming. [Sept 2004, p.120]
  3. The package is, as a whole, rather rough around the edges. You know you’re in for trouble when even the publisher admits that the tutorial is “a pain and a little time consuming”.
  4. There's fun to be had, but it's harder work than it should be - a case of feature overload. [Aug 2004, p.82]

Chaos League doesn't quite hit the mark because it fails to replicate what people most enjoy about sport - its unpredictable nature and the triumph of skill and control. By curbing its own ambitions, it's scored an own goal.
  6. Certainly playable, but the majority of gamers will be turned off by the complexity that sucks the fun out of a game that otherwise promised a riotous experience.

An overall shoddy feeling to the production spoils a great deal more. Where there should be panache, there are rough edges. As a comedy, it achieves much. It is funny. But as a sports game a great deal more polish is required. [Sept 2004, p.106]
