    Break The Game’s simplistic platforming and shooting mechanics are unremarkable and a little half-baked in isolation. But entertaining writing and a hare-brained sense of humour make it worth booting up and breaking out of again. Channelling ideas from some of the indie greats and adding a dash of its own creativity and playfulness, Break The Game is an enjoyable adventure through the googly eyes of an AI.

    Break The Game was a very mixed experience that had me to nearly quit halfway in, as the game play, although relatively smooth, was slow and repetitive. You spend a lot of your time either jumping and dashing through monotone maps or reading endless dialogue which tries to be funny and witty but only manages to in rare cases. It doesn't often get over a silly and forced tone and the dialogues are often so long that you can comfortably play some Angry Birds in between and still follow it. Dialogue can't be skipped nor sped up, it's like cut scenes. Especially annoying if you quit a level midway as you need to wait through it from the beginning on again.

    Apart from these chores that the game had and really made it hard to stick through, some characters are not that badly written and the concept of the game that works with the fourth wall a lot is quite entertaining and interesting sometimes. It only really got me emotionally into it towards the end though, as the way the game communicated with you before was rather flat and rough.

    In the end, it's hard to justify the time invested into it for the sparks in between and the end, which was solid and got me emotional. Break The Game would have strongly profited from being shorter, in game play as well as in dialogue. Yet the characters still make the game interesting and entertaining and the way the game breaks and gets totally weird sometimes has something pretty creative to it.    … Expand

    Break The Game is a 2-D puzzle-platformer, with shooter elements. Overall the game is about 2-4 hours long, depending on play style. The storyBreak The Game is a 2-D puzzle-platformer, with shooter elements. Overall the game is about 2-4 hours long, depending on play style. The story is long, diluted, and dull, leaving much to be desired. The platforming and physics engine are well crafted and give reasoning to continue playing, but the story and combat leave me feeling disappointed. Combat in this game varies from easy enough to let a four year old play it, to leaving me (an experienced player) struggling and dying repeatedly. The humor ranges from fart jokes to never ending dialogues riding off of one joke for so agonizingly long, I ended up pulling out my phone and playing something else. The story could have been excellent, if they had written something original and used less "Shock Value." They have multiple moments in the story where they cuss seemingly at random, breaking the bright and glowing vibe they tried to set up at the start. Overall the game could have been entertaining and enjoyable, but falls flat, and will sit forgotten at the bottom of my games list.… Expand
