    I am so happy this game exists even if it is literally exactly what it says on the tin and not much more than that. It is just a modern JSR game in the style of Future but with modern improvements and an actual STORY. They didn't really do much to piss on the older formula, but if you already REALLY don't like JSR then I don't expect anything here will convert you.

    The one area where they didn't drastically improve over the originals was the graphical quality and, visual bugs aside, that's perfectly fine considering that
    1. It's clearly part of the art style and charm of the game and
    2. I've given worse looking games a 9/10 before.
    So yeah, JSR is back. Whether from its parent company or not.    … Expand

    A complete masterpiece of modern times, a frenetic gameplay, an incredible soundtrack with a varied number of recognized artists, an intriguing story, well developed, without a doubt, this is a Must Play, 10/10

    Used to play Jet set Radio Future on the xbox as a child. Love the gameplay and music and overall vibes. Major props to Team Ratpile for once again capturing lightning in a bottle.
    Must have for Nintendo Switch.

    Highly recommend for JSRF fans. I used to play JSRF on my og xbox so BRC has it's own identity in addition to having the spirit of JSRF. frankly speaking the game is amazing and I really love it.

    My personal game of the year. Jet Set Radio & Jet Set Radio Future were my childhood but in my opinion? Bomb Rush Cyberfunk surpasses and exceeds both games.

    Team Reptile really outdid themselves on this and I don't think SEGA could surpass it with the new game they're working on. This is the biggest "Screw it, I'll do it myself." moment ever.

    Super fun combos, a really eye catching artstyle with some super catchy tracks to listen to. Easily indie game of the year.

    Love it. I only ever played Jet Set Radio and not Jet Set Radio Future, so I can only compare it to the first (I saw people say BRC is closer to JSRF). In JSR I always hated how slow I was when not grinding, and BRC alleviates that. Yes, on the ground you're not fast, but you're not slow either, and you can build a good bit of speed with leaning into grinds for boosts, the jump boost andLove it. I only ever played Jet Set Radio and not Jet Set Radio Future, so I can only compare it to the first (I saw people say BRC is closer to JSRF). In JSR I always hated how slow I was when not grinding, and BRC alleviates that. Yes, on the ground you're not fast, but you're not slow either, and you can build a good bit of speed with leaning into grinds for boosts, the jump boost and the boost pack that uses fuel. I am really enjoying the gameplay, especially after figuring out the manual button (right trigger) to help keep combos going and how to do boost tricks (hit the boost button then a trick right after). The game is a lot of fun, and is super easy to run. (I average around 475 fps at 3400x1440 with max settings and my RX 6800.

    The soundtrack is awesome, the gameplay is awesome, the visuals are awesome... Just an awesome game. I've heard some people complaining the game is too short (around 15 hours?) or too expensive for an Indie game ($40). But really, there is no reason an Indie game needs to be ultra cheap just because it's not a AAA game, especially considering how many AAA $70 games come out unfinished and busted, while BRC has no issues I've noticed or heard of. On top of that, games like Spider-Man Remastered only took me under 20 hours to beat, play all the DLC's and collect all the collectibles and Ratchet & Clank: ARA is only around 10 hours, and both of those games sell for more than BRC does. Just because they're AAA games it's okay for them to charge a lot and be short, but it's not okay for BRC to be around 15 hours while still charging less?

    Pros:
    - great soundtrack
    - great visuals
    - no performance issues or bugs I've seen
    - really fun gameplay
    - trick/combo system works well
    - character changes aren't reset when you quit and load back into the game (don't need to change characters all the time if you want a specific one)
    - Ultrawide support in menus and general gameplay

    Cons:
    - would be nice to have a dance pad in the home base (for changing characters)
    - camera can get wonky at times when moving fast around corners
    - combat is pretty 'meh', but at least it's not frustrating
    - no Ultrawide support in cutscenes    … Expand

    So I'll start this off right away and say yes I am a Jet Set Radio fan so you're not going to get the perspective of someone who stumbled on this game not knowing what it's even based on. That being said I will try to remain objective on this one but can't make any promises. So I remember seeinv the trailer for this game and said to myself wow, this is it this is the closest we've got to a true spiritual successor to JSR and that was me hyped. Fast forward to now the game is here and it's in my hands and it's everything it needed to be finally scratched that JSR itch I've been having since Future back in 2002. So much for objective so far but don't worry I have some points to make against the game. So gameplay wise it's what you want simple, easy to control and as a fan of JSR very familiar which was nice. The mechanics are great the rocket boosts are fun to experiment with to find different ways to use it to your advantage like crossing larger gaps or just keeping your multiplier going. Soundtrack is great Hideki Naganuma returns yet again with his signature funky and jazzy style which for some reason to me feels both nastolgic and timeless, only complaint is I wish the selection of music was more varied in each area a lot of repeat tracks. Thankfully I play on PC so I have access to a mod that allows custom soundtracks which would have actually been a great edition for the PC release. Visually it looks fantastic JSR always had this amazing sense of style about it and an art style that has aged gracefully especially JSRF and the same could be said for BRC in the future. Now the story seems like a bit of an afterthought it almost seems like they wanted to go into this deep narrative but kinda pulled out in the middle and I think a strong emphasis on narrative in a game like this is unnecessary JSR made it simple, you're in a gang called the GGs who skate and throw up Graffiti, there are other rival gangs who do the same and you're fighting against them as well as the Police and their loose cannon Chief/Captain and all story updates told by DJ Professor K. BRC kinda takes this approach to their story but it feels like they're taking it way too seriously and just doesn't come across how I think they wanted it to. With all that said this game is a ton of fun and I highly recommend it especially to fans of JSR but I alsa say to those who never played JSR before to not feel discouraged and give it a try you won't regret it.… Expand

    Simply magnificent and an excellent evolution for the Jet Set Radio formula. Outstanding soundtrack, visuals, and gameplay. Very recommended.

    A true spiritual successor to Jet Set Radio! This is definitely one of my favorite games of the year and I hope this game sparks future sequels.

    Yoooo! This game hits almost every note right, except one. Great music, fun gameplay mechanics with some new bits added to the mix, and beautiful world/character design that callback to the classic JSRF. Storytelling.... It could be a lot better. If this dev thinks about making a sequel, I hope this becomes a major production point. Everything else was perfect!

    Too good to be this low rated, its too good, from style,performances,gameplay,graphics and to the soundtrack and audio, its just perfect game to have some fun!

    There’s no doubt that some Jet Set Radio fans hungry for more will enjoy Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. I’ve been waiting for this series’ return in spirit along with the rest of them, but in the end, it did little more than inspire nostalgia for the original, gorgeous though it may be.

    Being hip is cool again. Bomb Rush Cyberfunk trades its graphical fidelity and pixel counts for excellent gameplay loop and incredible music - all wrapped up in a neat and true Jet Set Radio spiritual successor.

    And while its camera and controls are a huge improvement over its predecessors, the odd hiccup still persists. But most of the time, with the soundtrack - a mix of laidback house, hip-hop, and funk - doing its thing in the background, and the world gradually opening up to you, it's easy to fall into a pleasant trance for long stretches.
