  1. Simply put, Blood II is more of the same: more guns and more enemies. Although it's not quite as pant-browning as we would've hoped, it's a stunning achievement considering the time Monolith have had to put it together. [PC Zone]
  2. The first one had some things about it that made you play it and say, “Wow, that was cool. I have never seen anything like that before.” This installment will have you sitting back and saying the same thing.
  3. The levels are fairly exquisitely designed. The textures on the buildings are quite nice, and there is a multitude of signs that call up a smile every once so often. The only problem is, in order to read them you'd have to be in the 'High' detail level - and for that you'd need a pretty nice machine.
  4. The only complaint I have to make about the game is that the difficulty levels are a little imbalanced.
  5. So, if you sometimes find yourself sitting down in a room of your people, and you find yourself staring endlessly at each one of them, picturing them on the receiving end of your boom-stick (12 gauge Remington), then go out and buy Blood 2. And remember, shop smart, Shop S-MART! YOU GOT THAT!

Creepy, mostly excellent gameplay marred by a few glaring technical and design problems. [Feb 1999, p.216]
  7. Much like "Shogo", Blood 2 excels in pure feel and fun factor alone. It may not have impressive scripted scenes around every corner and the plot is incredibly weak at best, but the core of the game-running around and shooting people-is extremely satisfying.
  8. Another "could have, should have" game. While it follows the old school formula a little too much, it can still be enjoyable if you like to annihilate things with big guns.

After the masterpiece the first one was the second is dull.

    Pros.:
    - Blood franchise.
    - A lot of blood. A LOT.
    - Dismemberment and violence.
    - Many weapons. Though, many won't be used.
    - More feasible story than the first one had.
    - Easter Eggs. References to previous projects and AvP.

    Cons.:
    - Many weapons won't EVER be used.
    - Design is very poor - not many items, things in the locations. It is the same stuff that happened in AvP.
    - The story is also poor.
    - Enemies are dumb.
    - Some of the main antagonists have some back story or a bit of a character but it is VERY low. Not like other Monolith projects.

If Civvie and Gordon Ramsay can put this into two words, it would be this.

The story in uninteresting, the main character is less interesting, it moved from 2.5D to 3D and the graphics are good for the time. The gameplay is very good but the difficulty spikes are noticeable. While it is a game released in 1998, it performs poorly in 2021. I am getting low FPS at random otherwise it works ok for the most part. Games like thief 1 and Half life also released in 1998 perform much better. Overall i wouldnt really recommend playing this game Full Review »
