This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I would love to give this game a ten out of ten. I so would. But alas, I cannot. I cannot fault Bioshock Infinite's beauty, the atmosphere of the city of Columbia. The Immersion of that, the two main characters of Elizabeth and Booker were amazing and enjoyable to have, the luteces were a great twist, I was enjoying the game until the end. Initially I had an amazing look in my eyes as the end played out... but it seemed rushed and all explained within the last ten minutes. A great twist that should of been given an extra 10-20 minutes to play out with multiple choices for the ending (Or even those choices you made earlier in the game actually counting to something)

The combat brought a few great ideas (the tears and the skyline mostly) but once again only a handful of battles actually used them to a great extent. And some vigors were just... never used by me, they had potential but my play style was just not going to use them.

However, despite these shortcomings, I come back to the immersion and the enjoyment of the game and thus I give this game a nice, well earnt nine out of ten.

Bioshock Infinite is a beautiful game that is able to pack so much information into a small amount of time. The game based in 1912 which is a time that many people forget about because it is an era that is overlooked by the "Roaring 20s" followed by the Great Depression. Infinite shows the concepts of the hatred of immigrants and the most obvious racism towards the Irish, Welsh, and all colored people. The hated group are on Columbia strictly for labor work and there is even stock for the immigrants that are lazy or refuse to work show throughout the game. Colored workers are also shown how they are afraid of the "white man" in two instances I remember when the colored worker apologizes to the non-racist Booker for smoking and a worker cursing the "white man" for his work and immediately when he acknowledged Booker he asks if he needs anything. The game shows the blinded patriotism towards the founding fathers who are considered Gods and do not recognize the bad sides of the fathers in Columbia. When playing this game I URGE YOU NOT TO RECOGNIZE THIS AS A SEQUEL TO EITHER OF THE BIOSHOCKS. Although Bioshock 1 is the makers of this game and hardly any of the creators worked on Bioshock 2. This game is hardly a sequel but a completely different game. However the game captures the key elements I consider the Bioshock franchise to be.
    1. A place made to be a utopia which collapses to be a dystopia with many people in denial.
    2. plasmids(vigors)
    3. No cutscenes and the story comes together via in games material

Though Infinite contains my characteristics to be considered a Bioshock game, the game lacks a certain eeriness the other games contains (maybe because it is not underwater and the sun is out) there is much more gun play and less plasmid(vigor) use in the game and it feels like it is much more spamming of weapons and scrounging for ammo than the past games. The use of shields is something that I disliked and the fact that whenever you are low Elizabeth magically gives you what you need. I may be biased but I feel like this game would have succeed much more to me if it was apart from the game series and became its own game and title. The game is amazing but doesn't have the elements to me that the other Bioshock game had to me as a player. That is why I am giving the game a 9 instead of a perfect 10. However this game is a great game and if you are a gamer who enjoys a good story line without simply bulldozing through it. It is a must play. If you only like shooting and couldn't care less about story go back to Call Of Duty or something you don't deserve to be called a gamer if you only play one game........

tl;dr.... Game is exceptional however only contains the basic core elements I consider in a Bioshock game. Which is the reason for the 9 and not a 10.

Seriously, some of the stuff in these comments is ridiculous. The setting is "unimaginative"? What? How can you complain about a steampunk, floating city being "unimaginative" when there are games like Call of Duty and Battlefield getting farted out that use a brown, dust filled desert-industrial environment which seems to be a sort of basic formula for games nowadays. Anyway, the setting IS imaginative, and the story IS good, anybody who is saying the story "made no sense" probably just didn't understand it because they have the IQ of a coconut. The story made sense perfectly fine to me, and to 98% of the other people who played the game, as well. That said, if you don't like exploring, and just prefer to shoot people, don't buy this game and then complain that it was too well paced and you didn't spend 100% of your time killing other humans, because there is a big emphasis on exploration in this game, gear, money, and voxophones, which flesh out the story really nicely are all found by exploration. Also you get to see more of the city and experience the graphics design, because it is spectacular. Basically, it has everything good that the first Bioshock had, fast paced and exciting combat, amazing, albeit very different, atmosphere, an emphasis on exploration and a great story, without the redundant binary moral choice system. Also Elizabeth is a really nice addition to the game, one of the best support characters since Alyx.

Basically, if you haven't played it, and are here to write a bad review because you watched TotalBiscuit's WTF is? video, then go away. If you DID play it, and didn't enjoy it, fair enough, but don't criticise something simply because of its genre. Yes, it didn't have any puzzles or stealth. Do you know why? Because it's an FPS, you moron. Anyway, if you enjoyed the original, you'll love this, it's definitely a Bioshock game, I'd say it was even better than the 1st. The worst thing about it was the soundtrack, and that's just because I can't remember anything about it, and I finished the game yesterday. Great combat, great story, great atmosphere, great pacing, great graphics, it did everything well. I'm giving it a 9 because of a few things I didn't like. The vigors are a bit unoriginal, except for the Bucking Bronco and Murder of Crows, and even that is basically just a repackaged Insect Swarm from B1. I preferred the gun upgrade system in B1, and the upgrades for that were much more original than the ones in this, which pretty much consist of "damage increase", "clip size increase", "recoil decrease", and "accuracy increase". It's a fantastic game, but there ARE a few things that stop it from being a 10. I would give it 9.5 if I could, but there is no 9.5, so it gets a 9. I loved it, and will definitely buy the DLC planned.

Fail to pick this gem up and miss out on one of the generation, you simply NEED to experience this story. Gameplay: it stands head and shoulders above its fps counterparts. The diversity of enemies will keep you on your toes and force you to constantly transform your strategy. Motorised patriots will have you dashing for cover, boys of silence will force you to creep silently by in the shadows, sirens will surround you with armies of dead soldiers, the fire-men of 'infinite' are not protectors but devious arsonists and as for the handy man, you are in for a fight to rival the big daddies of the original 'bioshock'. The scenery is breathtaking, the atmosphere invigorating. Battles take place on gigantic scales, engaging in flying and ground units simultaneously while zipping along on skylines. Now all that said I did encounter a few problems with this game and I think it is out done by the original in a few gameplay elements. My biggest issue was something that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere else, so by no mean allow my limitation to become your limitation, but I really did find the audio frustrating throughout the game. The voice acting and music itself is excellent but a design choice has been implemented which throughout the game broke my immersion in the city of colombia. Here it is: when something or someone is speaking or playing music or whatever, you can hear them from a great distance by looking straight at them, turn to your right and you can no longer here it, thats fine; however the same thing happens even if your standing right next to the person/object, and its only when you turn to the right side! For example you are standing in front of Elizabeth who is talking to you, you can hear her, you turn to your left, you can still hear her, you turn to face the opposite direction, you can still hear her, turn left again (so you are facing right of her) and SILENCE! Now why is this a problem?? Well half the time I'm running along and I hear someone start talking but I don't know where they are but as I'm turning around (and to the right) I can't hear them, and I want to hear them because the dialogue is so GOOD! I don't want to miss out. Sometimes I won't even have realised Elizabeth said anything. There was even a cut scene with the song bird and Elizabeth when I couldn't hear what she was saying! (And don't say turn it up, because it was and its SILENT). I turned subtitles on, so at least I didn't miss anything. But its also really annoying with music, for example, I'm listening to a nice tune from a radio, but as I'm walking around the room, it keeps going silent when I'm facing to the right of it, even if I'm right next to it! I understand the idea behind this, you only hear stuff your focused on (and therefore looking at). But for me this continually broke the immersion, because I want to hear the music and people as I walk around. But the main thing is not hearing the voices. It was weird, I didn't like it, Nobody else seems to have trouble with this so good for you but I'm just saying for me it broke immersion on a number of occasions. The other problems I had was with the weapons interface. Only two guns at a time, seriously? Again this works really well on certain occasions so I can see why they did this; for instance when you are in a big open area, you use Elizabeth to open tears, then ride the rails to get guns, so your constantly moving around and changing weapons. But here is the problem. The environment of 'Infinite' requires very different weapon types. For instance, I found that I usually always needed, at least one long range weapon, a medium/close weapon. But as you are encountering a lot of heavy units; I found myself sticking with either RPG or grenade launcher for most the game. The problem is its very hard to hit an enemy above you on a gunship with an RPG, but I can't carry a sniper rifle and an RPG, cause I'd run out of ammo for close quarters; so basically i have to go with the machine gun or the burst gun, cause they can do a bit of both. But the machine gun still fails over long distance. Also what is the point of having a pistol in the game then? Never used it after the first level, even though it was a good pistol. SO carry unlimited guns next time, no more of this COD two weapon rubbish! Furthermore the guns did not special ammo and crafting unlike the original bioshock, no exploding bullets The uprgrades system was worse in my opinion as it is all money based and the upgrades are not visible on your gun. Also could not scroll through more than two vigors at a time WTF! Also vigors my opinon ordinary, no telekinesis Sorry to spend so much of the review whining, because this is one of my favourite games of the generation. But I don't want to spoil story. I loved this game! Expand

Irrational Games have struck gold with this title; with the copious amounts of praise that Infinite's story line receives, it is easy to overlook many of the other great aspects of the game. The graphics are beautiful. The score is both exciting and moving, perfect for each situation. The characters are fantastically crafted and show good development through the game. The AI is appropriately tough and interesting to fight. However, whilst the game doesn't exactly skimp out on gameplay, I am forced to withhold the 'perfect-10' for what I can only describe as an inefficient inclusion of the né plasmids. I felt that it would be possible to complete the game without using vigors once for combat, and that Irrational had the opportunity to include enemies that would only be affected after being struck by a particular vigor, or having some that would be resistant to gun fire in general. I understand, of course, that the larger enemies would not be affected by Bucking Bronco for instance, and Firemen are resistant to Devil's Kiss, but it would be nice to see at least a part of the game that relied solely on using vigors to defend yourself.
Bioshock Infinite is a beautifully crafted piece of gaming artwork, and I urge any gamer to pick it up and play it.

Bioshock Infinite was exactly what it needed to be. It was a Bioshock game that was also the third game in a series. It had many characteristics of the original games in it, but it also had many new features that a third game needs to have. To all of the people that were complaining about it being too linear I say they must not have tried to explore. Plus, you must not have played the original games, because it was just as linear as the originals. If the story line was confusing to you, I can understand why you didn't like it. It was a really well told story that was as original as a story can be these days. Everything has been done under the sun.

The game play was similar and yet different from the first two games. It had to be that way because if it was exactly the same as the first game, then people would complain about that. As I said, it was what it needed to be. To the people that complain that it is just not a believable story, then A) you must not have played through the game completely (or you weren't really paying attention) or B) Your completely over thinking it and I bet that you hate science fiction games/movies in general. If it is really that hard to believe, then I don't understand how you liked the first two games (if you did, and if you didn't then you shouldn't leave a comment) and you should probably go back to non-fiction books. For all of those people who said they don't understand why they should care about the story-line, I say how couldn't you? The very basics of the story are heart breaking. A girl locked up by her father and experimented on? That is engaging by it self. The rest is a ridiculous amount of gravy.

I will say that the enemies were a bit repetitive. I get that. Wasn't the first game's enemies? I agree that the Handymen (Big Dadies) were not too common, but they had other things to fight in there place, and plus they would have gotten old if they had been common. The controls were not clunky, they just were not what your used to. Don't be lazy and fix them, I did and it improved my skill and experience immensely.

To those complaining about the graphics, what games that have come out recently have better graphics? Sure, there are games with better graphics, like Battlefield 3, but those graphics wouldn't have added anything to the game. The graphics that the game had were exactly the quality that it need to look good, add to the experience, but not take away from the game play (aka killing Frames Per Second or making some peoples computers not be able to play it at all).

To sum up, most of the things that people are complaining about are pointless, laziness, misunderstanding, or just simply ridiculous. This game is amazing, not quite perfect but pretty close. Get this game. I recommend playing the first one at least if you haven't already.

Also, a lot of people are complaining about the ending. Please disregard all these complaints, as it's simply because they didn't pay attention to the story/they don't possess the brain power to process what happened. The plot is THE MOST complicated thing I have ever experienced, and I love it. After I finished the game I had to look up "ending explained" and such, just to see what others made of it. It's extremely intriguing and I couldn't have asked for any other ending. Now so far I've been doing nothing but smothering this game with love, so you may be wondering why I didn't give it a 10. There are several factors that lead to this. There are many small things in this game that bothered me throughout the game, such as invisible walls that prevented me from taking cover in locations that I'd originally expect to be able to go into. Also, it is possible to go ahead of the story, location wise, so I'd be able to go to location A, I wouldn't be able proceed past that for whatever reason (that is explained and is fair), but then I'd go the quest in location B where I was told to go to location A, and then Elizabeth and I would be asking "Where is this location A?", even though we were just there. Another problem I had is that some of the vigors seem rather useless and the player doesn't seem to have much incentive to use them over some of the others. For example, the water vigor (don't remember what it was called), simply seems to be worse in every way than the possession vigor, so why would I use my salt on something worse? There were various other smaller issues I had with the game, and though they were trivial, they started to add up as I went along. I feel that had Irrational just added/fixed a couple of these things, the game would be flawless. Don't listen to all the haters who're giving this game anything less than a 7, they don't have any knowledge on what they're talking about, and should be disregarded. Expand

The storyline really very intriguing and tastes really good (slurp..), definitely one that i would remember forever.

A negative point of the game is it's highly controversial approach to the storyline, with much racism and skepticism that is somewhat off-the-charts ( at least to me personally). Plus the confusing & abrupt ending.

This is definitely one of my favorite games this year. I don't want to write a long review so I'll just say that I had fun playing it, the story was certainly more complex than your average game, and the music was awesome. Whether you like the way the story wraps up or not, the entire game was great to play.

PC is the way to play this game, console graphics are kind of slop in places. 9/10 for this one, it's not Bioshock 1 that everyone compares it to, but it is a very well put together game with a great story and main characters. Bioshock: Infinite starts off slow, but gradually builds suspense and finely touches up on the story as you progress. A lot of us who have played the previous Bioshock games have probably enjoyed the combat system in its time. Thus, being the reason why I'm deducting one point, since the combat seemed a bit old-school and wasn't my main point of interest in the game. Second, the game play is linear, although, this wasn't much of a problem for me since I was so caught up in the immersive universe they have created. The story, was utterly amazing, I can't tell you how much I fell in love with the game by how detailed and caring they took with each character's personal structure. Elizabeth, is almost perfect, however, at time's she seems quite monotone with her actions, disregarding some emotion that could have been implemented during certain conflicts in the storyline. I personally feel as if they could have improvised and added a bit more dialog between Brook and Elizabeth, but overall, they did an excellent job. When the story wraps everything up in the end, I had such a strong emotional connection between the two. I could not of thought of anything better, they nailed it!! Playing through the game was pretty fun, it's very unique, and has such a diverse aspect the average "Triple A Title" that it's worth playing through again. I'd have to say, this must have been the best game I've played in a long time. I fell in love with the game, I was skeptical at first, but after playing the entire game, I've become obsessed with it. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This does contain spoilers folks. I got the game at it's midnight release, and the ONLY REASON it has a 9 in place of the 10 was the campaign took all of about 10-11 hours (that was with me milling through everything) and once you're done, you're done. (Unless you're up for the more difficult 1999 mode) So let's get into the game, from the moment you land in the church, the music was (In my opinion) mastered to the place. You get that feeling of a child when he's first taken to an amusement park, my eyes were lit up when you step out of the church doors and that wonderful view of Colombia in the skyline. Going through the game, shooting was great, considering this IS NOT A FULL BLOWN SHOOTER, you cannot expect it to be like one and still have all the other mechanics. My favorite thing? The connection with Elizabeth, (I was personally hoping they'd fall in love, BAD IDEA considering the end) but the connection they have established was phenomenal, definitely one that is seldom experienced. When you go to rescue her a second time, you only want to inflict as much pain as possible once you see the first chair and hear her screaming, the blood on the floor and all the tools to leave to your imagination what was happening to her, and when you do save her, and you pull that giant needle out of her spine, I personally was tearing up a bit. Overall, easily the best game I've ever played. Story has great twists, and I have concluded that hell hath no fury like an un-siphoned Elizabeth. Semper Fidelis everyone! Expand

    Legendary.

Without giving anything away, the story is absolutely fantastic. It is well-written, incorporates many different themes flawlessly, has strong character development, and concludes with a thought provoking ending that will have you thinking about everything you experienced in the game. The setting of Columbia, a city in the sky, was the perfect place for this all to take place. It is beautiful, and you get to watch as it slowly falls apart on your quest to bring home Elizabeth and stop Zachary Hale Comstock.

But what is a game without gameplay? Well, this game has highly enjoyable gameplay. To combat your opposition, you use a combination of guns and vigors (BioShock Infinite's version of plasmids). How will you deal with those soldiers of the Founders' army? Will you use the fiery Devil's Kiss vigor to burn them to ashes? Will you just mow through them with a machine gun? Or will you use a strategic combination of both? There are many ways to handle a single scenario. The problem is, throughout the 10-15 hour campaign, there is not much incentive to change your strategy. For example, even though there are plenty of vigors at your disposal, there is little reason to swap away from two in particular. The weapon balance is also rather poor. Once you pick up the Carbine, never put it down. Same goes for the Hand Cannon. The automatic weapons and the heavy weapons are mediocre at best, as they chew through ammo and deal relatively poor damage. However, in the end, these shortcomings in balance are not enough to damper the experience. The combat is a blast, and you'll enjoy every second of it.

This game also encourages you to explore the world as much as you can. If you don't you'll find yourself unable to afford the weapon and vigor upgrades. But worse, if you don't explore the environment, you'll miss out on plenty of voxophones. Voxophones are audio recordings, and are crucial to fully understanding the story. Plus, why wouldn't you explore this world? It's beautiful!

It is time to deal with the elephant in the room. Is Elizabeth a terrible game-long escort mission? The answer to that is NO. Elizabeth is not only one of the most remarkable female followers in a video game, she is also one of the most remarkable characters in the history of video games. Her character is very similar to a classic Disney princess. Energetic, exciting, and cheerful. However, being that this game isn't a Disney fairy tale, her character will grow progressively darker and darker along with the game itself. However, the best part about her; not only is she fully capable of taking care of herself in combat, but you probably wouldn't survive without her. Besides the fact that she'll keep you supplied with ammo, salts, and health, she can use her special ability of opening tears in time and space. What does this mean? It means she can open tears containing health, guns, friendly turrets, and more, to aid you in combat. The catch is, she can only open one at a time, which leaves you with a decision. Do you want the tear containing a turret to help you defeat your enemies? Or do you want a tear that will keep your salts (the fuel for vigors) up? This adds on to the number of ways you can deal with a combat scenario, adding not only to the re-playability of the game, but also the depth of the combat.

One last thing worth noting is the sky-lines, which tie into traversing the city of Columbia and combat. You use a magnetic hook to speed down a metallic railway in the sky. This allows you to not only get from point A to point B, but to get the upper hand in a battle against your enemies. For example, say a Motorized Patriot (a massive, menacing robot that resembles either George Washington or Abraham Lincoln, depending on the faction) is keeping you pinned behind cover. Well, you could then use the sky-line to flank it and shoot it in the back.

Overall, legendary game. Rarely does a first person shooter have not only a brilliant story, but fantastic gameplay.

The portrayal and development of characters was superb. The game unfolds like a road movie- you're on a great journey with a companion, and your relationship has its ups and downs. Elizabeth is so convincingly brought to life that you'll find yourself talking to the screen, and when the journey is over you'll miss her. The gameplay is great fun. The weapons and character abilities are innovative and a blast to use. They are simple to use but difficult to master, and you'll want to replay the game once you get the hang of things. In many ways, this game raises the bar for game developers. The team that created this obviously poured out their heart and soul and it shows at every turn, but having said that, it's not perfect. You don't get to choose or design the character you play, the part is thrust on you. A lot of times I felt that I was playing the role of a bit of a jerk. The biggest flaw in the game is that it's linear and you really can't make any meaningful choices in how things eventually play out- you're basically along for the ride. The city of Columbia truly looks amazing, and makes for a great visual contrast to Rapture. Anybody who is saying that the game has bad graphics is clearly only paying attention to the raw graphical fidelity (which isn't the best we've seen recently, but it could be far worse) and missing the great aesthetic design that has been put into this game.

The gameplay is almost a carbon-copy of the first two games, and it works just as well, if not better in Infinite. Instead of Plasmids from Bioshock 1 and 2, Infinite introduces Vigors which work almost the same, but instead have very different effects from Plasmids, creating very good tactical mixes between them. The two weapon limit is a little disappointing, but overall the gameplay is still very solid and it lives up to it's predecessors.

As expected of a Bioshock game, the game tells a fantastic and engaging story. Although, much of the story can be missed, as the majority of it is told through voxophones, which are Infinite's version of the previous games' audio diaries.

Despite a few flaws, Bioshock Infinite is still one of the best games released in recent years, and well worth buying, especially for fans of the previous games.

This game is one of the best I have played in the last 5 years, but it is not everyone is going to see why it is such a big deal, as the makers have tried to maintain a balance between shooter and interactive story, but have ended up doing a slight disservice to both.

I have had friends report they found the game to be enjoyable, but they were confused by many aspects of the story. When I dug in to why, it is because they completely missed key elements of the story because the game makes it far to easy to just skip the story and move on with the combat.
    --
If you are someone who loves a good story, and you are willing to make the effort to let the story unwrap around you, paying attention to the amazing level of detail in the environment, then this is going to be one of the best games you have ever played.
    --
If story isn't your thing, or you don't like digging for details, or you just want to shoot stuff... you will probably still get enjoyment out of this game, but you will be left wondering what the hype is about.

Despite being technically "dated", the graphics in this game where some of the best I have ever seen. By embracing the limitations of their engine, and focusing on solid art direction, 2K/Irrational games have created an environment that was far more compelling to me than any of the super engines like Battle Field 3.

A very nice game. The world is very beautiful creative and the story is interesting. Gameplay is interesting when you force yourself into the vigors and skylines and such, otherwise, you can basically just run down everyone with your guns. Overall good game

The only technical problems I have come across is a game crash when my GPU is overclocked which i think will be patched in the feature. My rating of 9/10 is because this game is NOT perfect, but is the best single player game i have played in the last couple of years. When compared to the single players of Call of Duty and Battlefield this keeps me interested where the others have at times bored me.
    Buy?or not?
Well if you have a decent PC get it on the PC but low end PC users will run into trouble and have to play at bare minimum settings.
For console players then really graphics are not the strong point of the game but are still very good.
I would recommend you buy and play this game, it has received a lot of hype which it deserves some of but not all. If you want something that will keep you entertained for 15+ Hours then Bioshock Infinite is ad Definite buy. For PC users use GreenManGaming you get it much cheaper than through steam and you get a stream product key which means you get the same thing for less.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to play this game so that I could shoot it down for being over-hyped. I always told my friends they were getting too worked up over this game and it's gonna be bad. Then the day finally arrived when I could finally get my chance. I don't like being proven wrong, but this time I think I'll manage.

Whether it's the beautiful scenery that catches your eye at the start of the game, the unique story line that when you play through a second time will make you go "Oh... that's deep", or just the amazing action that will hook you on the skylines of this game, you will not want to put the controller down until you absolutely have to. This game had me at attention the entire time. I was amazed with just how good it was from beginning to end. I was surprised to find that some reviewers of this game gave it anything below a 6. Granted some of the old bioshock things are missing like hacking, perks and multiple weapon selection. But in reality could one man hold that many weapons while trying to get around in a city in the sky two weapons seems more real to me. Perks have been replaced by clothing which, while you can only have 4 on at a time, are very good perks. the vigor (A.K.A. Plasmids from the other Bioshock games) are very useful and in my opinion awesome looking. The enemies are kinda bland to start off with but get amazingly better as the game progresses (Watch for that one Boy of Silence he's kind of a tool). The story is awe inspiring and very complex (some people who don't like it probably aren't bright enough to understand it).

All in all its a good damn game with a few flaws. Definitely worth all the money spent on it.

Hell, 1 negative vote is too much for this great game. I just finished after about 10 hours of gameplay (I do all of the optional missions explore as much as possible). What it all comes down to is the game is fun. The combat, trying out different vigors, using powers to activate turrets, or flying around on the rails while guys are chasing you... it's just damn fun!

If I wanted to nitpick, I'd say there are some slow spots in the game, and I was a little annoyed when some of the later levels were a bit recycled. But other than that, the game was great. I can see myself playing through again some time in the future.

This is a beautiful game in an artistic way (1440p on ultra helps!). But the compelling storyline, the atmosphere, sounds, music... all come together to make a wonderful game.

I honestly think if you rated this game below a 6 there is something wrong with you or you expect WAY too much from a game. It's obvious from playing the game through that the development team put a LOT of work into this game and it shows. I really don't know how much more you could expect from a game. To call this game mediocre is just plain criminal.

I believe that this game fails to be a 10 out of 10 due to two reasons.

    - Only two weapons can be carried at any one time. - Most of the gear you find is never used due to the limitation of when its effects are really placed in effect and well... vigors can seem really underpowered sometimes. This last observation probably to make placing vigor traps more

    2. The game is COMPLETELY linear!:
That you're taken out the option to explore and see the various consequences of what has been going on takes out so much of the game. It is basically a storyline game as some have put it. I don't find this as important though as what I mention on point 1.

Overall this game deserves the scores it is getting. A 10... no. But definitely between it and 9.
Bioshock's infinite story and characters are very well made. Its graphics are incredible with an ambience that can have you looking at every little detail of the floating city.

It is a daring proposal from its makers when you realize they bet most of the game's attraction on Elizabeth. And well... daring proposals is what we need... not the same things layed out differently.

This is where the game really stands out and has done it beatifully. Elizabeth can just capture you without notice.

So basically if you want to experience something different. BUY THIS GAME!
Unless you're enclosed to what the gaming market wants you to be enclosed in then you will definitely enjoy this game.
Is it a linear first person shooter? Yes... but a damned good one.

Not that every game needs stealth, but being able to engage enemies and then evade and flank, etc. is part of the best shooters (Crysis 1, the Halo series, Far Cry 3). When I first heard about this game I thought it would be another dreaded escort mission game but I found out I was completely wrong on that aspect. One of my biggest appeals of the game was Elizabeth. she was definitely a far cry from your typical dead faced NPC you find in almost all games and made me actually feel for her during game play rather than in a cut-scene like you find in most game and when she was in danger rather than take my time and look around to find hidden objects like in L.O.Z. The atmosphere is provides is excellent, and will drag players in with a great story that will leave you staring at the screen as the credits role. Elizabeth and Booker feel like real characters, and even the villains of the game are fleshed out. The game also touches on many themes. In addition to the story told up front, there are 80 or-so "voxophones" that provide additional back story and insight to the characters and history of the floating city of Columbia. And speaking about Columbia, it is a brilliant creation. Created in a very different art style than the original bioshock's rapture, Columbia is no less visually appealing and carefully created than the former. Graphically, besides the wonderful art direction, Infinite's graphics are only average, even on highest settings on the PC. Gameplay wise Infinite is only above-average. Many of the guns are near-useless because of the ability to only carry 2 weapons. The vigors are very enjoyable to use, and I enjoyed experimenting with them until i found a combination that I liked. Hard mode is definitely the way to play, as it makes Infinite seem much more fast paced. Gameplay is also varied slightly with the addition of an AI "follower", Elizabeth, one of Infinite's main characters, who will provide you with health, ammo, and vigors. I never found that Elizabeth was annoying or infringing on gameplay. One more thing that annoyed me was the fact that the FOV was pretty low, mouse sensitivity was too high, and the game relied on a checkpoint system. All considered, Bioshock Infinite's scores are:
    Gameplay: 9
    Graphics: 8.5
    Story: 10

But they completely stunned me, and I was happy with the new setting. The AI has also improved tremendously, but I sometimes I felt like they weren't really playing tactical, and they were just rushing my position. Another thing to think about is how Elizabeth interacts with you, and how they set it up. Elizabeth's AI is AMAZING, she is NEVER annoying and never really gets in your way; its also never one of those escort missions were you have to keep her alive and I hate those. The gameplay as improved, but is almost the same as Bioshock 1 and 2, without much change. The ending sort of has you thinking about the whole story line, and is a bit trippy. The game is sort of easy, even on hard difficulty. Another thing to take not on is the skylines. The skylines, in my opinion, are the BEST thing the developers, have EVER thought of. Soaring through the sky like you're on the rollercoaster! It got me into the game much more, and I felt as if I was THERE. The bad things, which are in very litter number, are that the game no longer has multiplayer, which I can understand, would of delayed the game a bit more. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start with this Bioshock Infinite was a great game, there is no doubting that. From the minute I landed in Columbia I was hooked. Now I may be a little bias, this being the only bioshock game i've played, but after playing this one I defiantly want to go back and play the first two games.
From the first line to the last note played I was amazed. I had never felt so much for a game. I found myself sitting down and planing to play for an hour but then realized that when I had finally turned off my Xbox it had been four hours. I just wanted more and more. Knowing that there was a great twist ahead all I wanted to do was to see it unfold. I also wanted to see if the game could deliver a twist. Now I did call 2/3 of the ending. I had guessed that Elizabeth was his daughter and that he was Comstock, but when the ending came around I found my self awestruck and dumbfounded.
Now some one thing that I found wrong with the game was minor thing. I think that the fact that I was on my xbox held the game back from looking as good as it could have been if I had to play on PC, and thats really the only thing I found wrong with it. I know that the middle part has you going back and forth, but I didn't find a problem with that.
Now I think that somethings that were looked over in the game where choses. My friends say that they wish they could change the outcome of the game. When in fact you have. This game deals with time travel as well as parallel universal travel. Which means by picking the bird or the cage you have altered the universe you are in to be the one where he picks the bird.
I thought that the game had great flow with no stupid loading screen every time I died and trust me I died a lot. A problem I had with that was that sometimes I would be brought back in room where there was no bad guys and found my self confused as to where they went, but with a push of a button I could figure out where to go. I thought that it was better than any map they could have given. I don't really enjoy maps as I find my self checking them every three seconds. enemies were hard to kill at some points and defiantly were smart as the would follow me where ever I go. Now I found enemies hard but something that balanced them out was that I had vigors and they didn't which gave me a little bit of the upper hand.
Elizabeth a.k.a Anna dewitt was amazing. she didn't get in my way and I never had to worry about her safety, because the game is set up that they want to kill booker and not her, and I love that she would give things such as ammo, salts, and health. but even better not all the time as she had to look for them. Which made a game about a floating city in the sky very realistic.
I would be happy with this being the last game of the series, and it defiantly felt like it was. This game doesn't need another sequel. This game did its job. It showed up when people were doubting it and provided a great story and an even greater twist, and it revitalized the series.
Thats why I give this game a 9/10 (for consoles). This is a must own must have game.

I'm a totally fan of first Bioshock. And I had the same feeling when we played it for the first time: a new world very well crafted and convincing. I love Elizabeth, a great character. The combat is a bit chaotic, though.

Funny about it is I, and since the first day to play the game I wanted to give a negative criticism (so to go againstا all positive criticism), but I did not feel only over three hours to play without that I feel the time, feeling 've missed since the Assassin's Creed thanked the designers and I hope that there is another part in the future

This game is a very intriguing game, however, the actual gameplay isn't all that great. An FPS has to be mostly rated on the action experience. Nevertheless, a great storyline, good experience, and barely overrated is overrated at all.

There was alot of hype concerning BioShock Infinite and eventually i had to check it out. Having never played any BioShock games it took me a minute to adjust to its certain gameplay style but after about an hour i couldn't put the controller down.
This game i would say has been one of my favorites in a long time. The level of creativity and detail is truly wonderful and much appreciated.

Bioshock Infinite is certainly one to be remembered, and with the nourishing level of detail, forgetting the beauty (and ensuing chaos) of Columbia will prove difficult for any gamer. With the physics engines and graphics cards of 2013, Infinite leaves us thinking "Damn, if only Rapture had looked this good."

If anything could be said against the game, it would be Irrational's lack of effort towards creating a fully function AI society. Whilst the player is indeed submerged in a city with non-aggressive AI to bolster the feeling that you are in a real human settlement and not just a war zone, Irrational struggles to do this improvement over the game's predecessors any real justice with the lack of interaction between the AI and the player itself. One finds themself questioning the difference between taking stuff from a chest of drawers and taking stuff from a chest of drawers with the word 'steal' at the bottom of the screen, demonstrating the scripted incidents carried out by the competely robotic artificial intelligence.

2K returns with this installment of Bioshock, and does not disappoint. The game begins vaguely much like the original. You find yourself dropped outside a lighthouse, and eventually find yourself in some sort of rocket, and you blasted into the sky, and are eventually dropped in the city of Colombia.

When you first see Colombia, you immediately know this game is special. The city itself is full of detail and is truly a treat for the eyes. The attention to detail the developers had is very apparent and immersing yourself in this world is very easy. The voice acting of the main characters is exceptional making the characters feel real.

The gameplay is very similar to the original Bioshock. You have your weapons in the right hand, and your "vigors" in your right. Vigors are special powers you find through out the game. While these powers are very useful, the seem to take a back seat to the guns, usually not dealing as much damage as the weapons. I also feel as if there were not enough vigors. The game left me wanting more powers as these powers were fun to use. A big difference in gameplay from the original game is the fact that you only carry two weapons at any given time. This adds a challenging dynamic to the game, as you will have to pick and choose which weapons to use and when, knowing that various weapons may not be available when you need them.

The original Bioshock was famous for its atmosphere and story. This game provides a greatly different atmosphere than the original. As opposed to a dark fear inducing atmosphere, this game varies between a light and beautiful atmosphere, and dark and melancholy. The story of this game is fantastic, yet confusing. It will take a couple of runthroughs to fully understand and appreciate. All in all this game is fantastic and should not be missed by anyone, yet just misses perfection.

The best story I've ever gotten to play, though a little short.

    9.5/10

    Pros:
    -Amazing story
    -Characters well made
-Very good music and ambient sounds
    -Original setting and environments

    Cons:
    -Too short
-Graphic quality of character faces was too low for a FPS story driven game
-Combat game-play could of been more complex

Easily the best shooter I have played so far. It is a bit narrative heavy if that sort of thing bothers you, I would still recommend that you get it. It is highly engaging and more than worth the $30 I played for it. It is not at all repetitive as many shooters can become. Furthermore you get dispatch minions with a buzz saw made of hooks...enough said

A very solid, but not revolutionary shooter in an amazing setting, with a story that struggles to convey its authors’ ambitions and is only seemingly complex.
