I tried to give it time, hoped it would be patched, but no that hasn't happened yet. It's a buggy piece of **** very frustrating to play. BF3 was excellent this is not, last time I will purchase a BF game.

The singleplayer campaign is atrocious because the story is irredeemably stupid. The story goes like this; you are Recker, a silent protagonist tool whose job is to go through the cliche-filled motions. Your team consists of a token white guy, a token black guy with a messiah complex and trust issues, and a token Asian person who also happens to be the token female character in your team. No surprise there given this game was made mostly by a Swedish studio (DICE). All throughout the game, you have to suffer through their poorly written drama and stupidity. They are supposed to make you feel badass, like "Good shot Recker!", "Nice shot Recker!" and etc. You get the picture. But sadly, you are also everybody's b1tch on so many occassions; "Open the door Recker!", "Plant the charges Recker!", "Lead the way Recker!" and "Jump Recker!". You are the leader of the group but they always order you around. Your "companions" are also fake holograms as they do 99% less damage to enemies. I've seen them move next to an enemy, empty several magazines at the enemy soldier's face and it's like nothing bad happened to enemy soldier. They are just there for window dressing and you should think of playing the campaign as if you didn't have AI companions. It's just a joke and it makes the experience feel completely fake. There is even a scene where you have to jump off a plane and your companions go first. If you let your companions jump ahead and wait ten minutes inside the fast-moving plane, and you jump, they will appear like they just jumped 2 seconds before you and it's as if the plane didn't move one inch. Very immersion breaking. I guess this is Michael Bay's fetish lens-flare explosion-filled game and bullets must be made of flint as they cause so much sparks when striking objects.

The multiplayer is very good and is a fun riot but it is full of lootboxes, with many gun accessories and other things hidden behind lootboxes. It's not enough that you buy the many DLC packs to unlock them through gameplay, you still have to buy the lootboxes separately in the hopes of getting the upgrade that you want for the weapon that you want. No amount of gameplay will get you any of the lootbox rare items. I am against the practice of asking for so much money for all this content, putting most items behind a very long grind and topping that off with so many items you can only buy through lootboxes and a fukkton of luck. Battlefield 4 is a great game behind money-gouging and unacceptable business practices.

Multiplayer is where Battlefield 4 shines. It's a good game especially if like me, you bought the Premium edition for $25 on an origin sale. But combined with the DRM and poor business practices and unpolished state during release, I can't give it too high a mark. Just buy it for the enjoyable multiplayer combat and buy it on a sale. For $25, you'll get your money's worth.

Where do I start? This piece of **** claims to be a "game"? It has multiple problems:

First, the FOV (Field of View) on singleplayer was 50* (85 is minimum to get no nausea). You have to use 3rd party tool such as "Flawless Widescreen" (which did work). This is UNACCEPTABLE. Also, to claim that this is a "game" is utter nonsense, the single player "campaign" cannot be called a game

Also, to claim that this is a "game" is utter nonsense, the single player "campaign" cannot be called a game for any reason. You run inside a goddamn pipe doing EXACTLY what your NPC friends say otherwise it will reload and you just have to do it.

In BAKU you have to "spot the targets" for someone presumably in helicopter, this is next to impossible, by pressing Q and something else I finally managed to do it but it took me almost an hour. YOU_JUST_CANT
_FKING_DESIGNATE (PRESS QQQQQQQ PRESS whatever **** key))))

so yeah after that. There is the "Burn those **** - "scene" which I could not pass even after 20 tries.

Multiplayer is not much better; it could be, but its too damn HECTIC. If you shoot for example a tank with your panzerfaust, it takes almost 1, max 2 seconds for you to die. They somehow "know" where you are all the time. Other times you get reaped by people from levels > 140. WTF

This game is made so much for someone who just wants to glide through, but messed up because this is really made for consoles and PC version suffers.

SHAME on anyone responsible for this utter horse****. This piece of whatever is made purely to grab your money. Avoid at all costs.

Utter crap. A buggy piece of **** where nothing seems to be working. Getting shot behind cover, bullets suddenly taking off in random directions, hits not registering, hits not registering with proper damage, pistol one-shot kills etc. etc. Ever second kill in this game is caused by some weird bug. At least. Do a Youtube search for "Battlefield 4 netcode" if you don't believe me.

I loved BF3 so much, I thought this game was going to be great from the beta, suffice to say it broke my heart.

i'm glad I'm playing this game now, and not when it was released. it was probably even more of a **** and having this in the light of the recent controversies with Visceral Games shutting down, Mass Effect: Andromeda being an utter mess with support being removed almost immediately after launch, and the Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) debacle, it seems like EA has been on a long-standing decline, and I hope things like this sink the company and their employees go on to find better jobs in less horribly managed development teams. it REALLY wouldn't have taken much to have a single person play through the finished game to find these bugs. a disappointment and a farce.

In single player if you shoot an enemy in the face be prepared for them to get straight back up and shoot at you and this is more irritating than the Ai possessing the ability to warp in new baddies like something from bloody star trek. So sod the single player (gave up half was as it was too mind numbing - story wasn't engaging enough to warrant such miserable whack-a-mole game mechanics). The multi-player is better but still not great (I have more fun on Planetside2 or Ghost Recon for example), something about the gun mechanics and movement just don't fit right (weapon feedback seems more like COD than previous games to me). Although I haven't experienced the worst of the "netcode" issues, i've seen enough to put me off playing any more. Campaign is a joke. But we don't play BF for the campaign so I'll skip to the multiplayer. This is an inherently good squad FPS game, probably the best of it's kind. Solid shooting mechanics and a very robust leveling system. It is let down by bad map design, too few infantry-based maps, and a terrible web browser based matchmaking system. 6/10.

    1. Graphics: 8/10 - excellent as before, even on low-end rigs
    2. Gameplay: 7/10 - great controls and satisfying experience with good sound effects
    3. Story: 2/10 - not interesting or engaging at all

With US and Russian conflicts at an all-time high due to the events of BF3--and with China on the verge on siding with the Russians due to the assassination of their leader being blamed on the US--it's up to you and your squad mates to help prevent war from breaking out. As a story, it's not that bad. The voice acting is once again great; the characters are slightly better and more memorable this time around compared to BF3; and the settings are still nice and varied. Unfortunately, you're still a boring silent protagonist with no personality. Overall, the campaign is better than BF3, but it could still be improved upon. 6/10

Gameplay: The shooting remains largely the same as in BF3 (although with no stupid panic-knifing enemies), but with the added addition of squad gameplay. Since you lead Tombstone squad, you can spot enemies for them to shoot, and have them enter vehicles and fight with you. You can also change what weapons and gadgets you use in the campaign to suit your play-style. All of the improvements are nice, but the gameplay is still largely the same as before. 6/10

Graphics: In short, the graphics are everything that made BF3 gorgeous, but made even better and without the annoying blue tint. Although, the vehicle collision and character models can still be better. 9/10

Sound: DICE is excellent at creating realistic sound designs in their BF games. The sound here is everything from BF3, but once again, made even better. Simple as that. 10/10

Multiplayer: Unfortunately, the MP here is disappointing when compared to BF3, and it's not because of its launch issues. For starters, the 4 infantry classes from BF3 return with some tweaks made to their arsenal. One big new feature is "Levolution"--a mostly gimmicky feature where each map has a scripted large-scale destruction sequence (like a building collapsing) caused by player action, and it only affects one part of the map. There are also an abundant amount of vehicles--land, air, and sea--to use from with improved unlock orders; Commander mode--a mode where 1 person steps away from the battlefield and gives orders to all squads on a team in hopes of leading them to victory--returns from BF2 with a few new features that might be considered balance issues like highlighting areas with radar; Assignments--challenges from BF3 that rewarded you with guns and customization items--are also available to add more replay value to the game; the suppression was balanced; and there are still a plethora of gadgets to use. There's a lot to like about BF4, but there are also some MAJOR flaws in its system. The game does have 10 maps, but these maps aren't as fun as 3 and often feature plenty of camping spots like the rooftops of buildings where the only way you can get up there is usually with a helicopter; but even then, you'll probably have to deal with a few squads of campers which might lead to a death. Outside of conquest, these maps mostly SUCK for other modes like Deathmatches or Rush. And speaking of modes, there is a lack of new game modes here. Besides Conquest, Rush, Deathmatches, and Domination (rip-off of CoD's domination mode), there are only 2 new ones, and both flopped. There's Defuse--BF4's attempted response to CoD's Search and Destroy mode that failed--and Obliteration--a "CoD Sabatage-style" mode with 3 bombs on both sides that flops because of the large map size, and the limitation of only 1 bomb carrier; so if you spawn far away from him, the mode becomes a running simulator since you'll have to get up to where the action's happening. The counter-knife system--where if you knife a guy in the front, a QTE pops up--sucks, but 4's BIGGEST sin is it's progression system. For starters, there are an excessive amount of guns to choose from, and while it's good for allowing more customization for the player, there's so many guns that they all start to feel the same. Why would I need 9 different sniper rifles if they all perform the same? It's like DICE copied and pasted several gun stats and merely changed the looks. And unlike BF3, you DON'T unlock guns by progressing your class as the 2 are separate. This means you HAVE to get kills with that gun class in order to unlock more guns. With all classes that have the last gun at somewhere in-between 48K-83K, you would need HUNDREDS of gun kills and assists in order to progress. This is all on top of that same stupid attachment progression system from 3. There are also Battlepacks--packs of random loot from attachments to XP boosts--that are very much unnecessary and almost pay-to-win due to the awful progression system. This game, essentially, is a major GRIND-FEST that only gets fun once you have everything you wanted unlocked, and good luck with that. 6/10

Verdict: The game had promise, but with a grind-y progression system, and maps that only work for Conquest, Conquestfield 4 disappoints.

    Rating: 6/10

Campaign mode is unplayable, full of bugs, it suddenly crashes the game, and it is 20 GB of size on disk Pathetic. I´m now stuck on the same level because the game does not know how to recover, even if i restart the game.

Battlefield 4 could just as well be called Battlefield 3.5. The new Battlefield features are only marginal improvements over Battlefield 3, but even as such it leaves the competitors way behind. Hopefully the bugs will be squashed soon. [Nov 2013]

Even if multiplayer wasn't buggy, Battlefield 4 would still only be a barely passable installment in all respects besides the snazzy graphics. EA and DICE played it safe by providing the same thing they did the last time around, with another phoned-in campaign and only minor alterations to the online.

Battlefield 4 keeps soldiering on in the same footsteps as previous games in the series. The lack of worthwhile news makes you wish for more. Dice stays in its comfort zone calls for explosions and not much more. The series needs to evolve or fade out.
