I've never had a game that felt so alpha-build. the campaign is utterly atrocious, several times bugging out in such a way that required a full restart of the mission. this happening again on the Singapore mission which was shortly after the most annoying section up to that point, above and beyond being unable to swim through the Titan in the South China Sea mission, where you fight four tanks which gangbang you from as many different angles, then just past this point as you're crawling out of the muck, both the horribly balanced fight with the tanks and literal muck of the sewers you're crawling through, and up a second ladder, I fel through the map and the checkpoint saved behind me. an hour of gameplay just evaporating. and that delightful console button that I'm always so hesitant to use? graphics. it's to tune in the graphics and get information on how your system is handling it. this is beyond irresponsibility and jumps right into wasting the customer's time on purpose and with malice. nowhere on any forum is there any kind of fix for it beyond "just start the mission again" from the developers. truly unbelievable. yes, developer. now what about when it happens the second or the third time? how about instead you fix your **** game.
i'm glad I'm playing this game now, and not when it was released. it was probably even more of a **** and having this in the light of the recent controversies with Visceral Games shutting down, Mass Effect: Andromeda being an utter mess with support being removed almost immediately after launch, and the Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) debacle, it seems like EA has been on a long-standing decline, and I hope things like this sink the company and their employees go on to find better jobs in less horribly managed development teams. it REALLY wouldn't have taken much to have a single person play through the finished game to find these bugs. a disappointment and a farce.

In single player if you shoot an enemy in the face be prepared for them to get straight back up and shoot at you and this is more irritating than the Ai possessing the ability to warp in new baddies like something from bloody star trek. So sod the single player (gave up half was as it was too mind numbing - story wasn't engaging enough to warrant such miserable whack-a-mole game mechanics). The multi-player is better but still not great (I have more fun on Planetside2 or Ghost Recon for example), something about the gun mechanics and movement just don't fit right (weapon feedback seems more like COD than previous games to me). Although I haven't experienced the worst of the "netcode" issues, i've seen enough to put me off playing any more. And I will get on record that running a game through your web browser is still not as easy as booting THE BLOODY GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE! Honestly no joke dice, just stop it. A UI is supposed to be easy and intuitive, not hidden between layer of useless stats and DLC adverts. Battlelog needs to die in a fire. Expand

Graphic effects are overdone, balance feels wrong, snipers are too effective. Not happy with the state of this game at all and I'm a BF fan over COD. I was thinking of giving this 6/10 but after a 2 year wait and what I thought was going to be an awesome game i'm going to have to give it 4/10.

Just too sad that one month after release, and several patches out, Its an achievement to complete 2 matches in 2h.

1/2 the time, the game crashes as it tries to find a server.
About 20 minutes before the game crashes WHEN in game It requires dlc and you shall find servers more limited if you don't buy them. Usually no team balancing, so 1/2 the time, servers will be unbalanced in terms of skill and no fun. BUT - when the campaign isn't crashing, it is satisfying

Battlefield 4 - basically a dumb down and even more casualized (yes I made that word up) version of BF3 except with more customization.

This review is going to be directed toward players coming from BF3 and will be multiplayer focused, more of a comparison if you will.

Pro's compared to BF3 in my opinion.

-More variation and customization across the board including weapon accessories, weapons themselves, kit upgrades and gadgets.

-Improvement in overall sound quality (gun report echos etc)

    -More game modes

    -strengthened naval combat presence.

Now the Con's compared to BF3 in my opinion.

-Serious hit reg and lag issues (apparently being worked on alongside all the typical expensive EA DLC)

-Average projectile speed about 50% the speed of a comparable projectile in BF3 (everything that can be fired moves much slower then it's BF3 counterparts to the point of feeling as if some weapons are more similar to space weapons (see halo series covenant weapons). This makes for much more drug out fights over medium to long distances especially with most vehicle weapons.

-Bullet spread and inaccuracy even higher then in BF3, (you want to see a newer FPS game doing small arms right?, give Insurgency a try.

-Even more conquest uncap spawn rape then BF3 matches normally experience.

Now taking these con's into consideration from what I've experienced in-game this has turned BF4 into more of an imprecise game of chance and guesswork where your PDW and carbine bullets move at the speed of your average pellet gun (meaning firing at a guy 50m away running to the side requires you to shoot an absurd and unrealistically far distance ahead of him to hit) and your 120mm tank cannon acts more like an over-sized potato gun or T-shirt launcher rather then a real cannon. (No biggie at 1 kilometer you only have to aim approx 100 feet above target to be on).

Now I know this game isn't mean't to be all about realism etc but they definitely took an even bigger step away from reality, competitiveness and skill based gameplay with BF4 compared to BF3. Obviously they're choosing to make it more approachable and tolerable to lower skilled and casual players so as to sell more but this version is beyond something I can enjoy playing online. Its much harder to consistently hit targets with most weapons at further ranges, thus forcing players to get very close to each other before being able to engage semi-reliably.

This game will do just fine as the market for casual gamers is huge. (see last 5 years of COD clones for proof) But for those of us that enjoy a stronger level of teamwork, realism and skill in our games It's safer to stick with BF3 or even better yet BFBC2, both are much better games then BF4 in my opinion even with their age and lack of refined customization and weapon variety.

Where to start... I'll start with the good features of battlefield: 64 player multi-player, good weapon customization, and platoon based clans / large player grouped communities.

Here is what they got wrong: They pushed the game out in an unfinished state back in October of 2013; ever since then it's just been one giant beta test (funny story, they already did a beta test before releasing the game) to try to get the game in somewhat decent condition. It's been a full year now since the release of the game, and they managed to fix "some" of the bugs and glitches. (For some reason, they also had their Battlepack micro transactions perfectly intact during launch, but the game was broken). The single player campaign is a joke, as it's only purpose is showing off the features of the game's features and capabilities, rather than gameplay. A great example of this is with the 3rd mission "South China Sea", you enter the remains of an aircraft carrier to find a data stick. during the mission, you have to go under water to get to another area of the mission. This segment had no effect on the gameplay or story, but only served to show off the underwater physics and effects. As of October 8th, 2014, they have release nearly all of their dlc; so I might as well review those pieces of content as well.

China Rising: This dlc is OK, as it provided maps that appealed to all the classes in the game. However, the "Levelutions" are missing from these maps; they either rushed this expansion out as well, or decided that levelution was just to much for the engine of the game (or to much of a gimmick for anyone to care about).

Second Assault: This is basically a couple of maps from Battlefield 3 that they implemented into Battlefield 4. This map pack is actually pretty good as it added weather "levelutions" to some of the maps and improved on the already well known maps.

Navel Strike: oh my god; what didn't they mess up on this map pack (this is where I started to really have problems with their game). First of all, the weapons in this expansion are either over powered (AWS, AR160), ore are the weakest, most worthless guns in the game (SR338, SW40). Textures would start rendering as i played (on all their maps including vanilla maps), and for some stupid reason, my FPS was throttled down during gameplay (unless i restarted my PC every time I wanted to play BF4). These aren't the only issues I had with this expansion pack; the map designs sound cool (with island warfare and attack boats ), but fails in gameplay. Traversing the maps are a chore if you don't have a boat or an air craft. objectives are easy to hold once you clear the island of enemy players (cause boats and choppers are sky-lined in the big empty water). Also this expansion had the BIG reveal of the mystic Megaladon; honestly, they put more work into a prehistoric shark, than they did fixing their own game.... let that sink in...

Dragon's Teeth: Same as China Rising, but with levelutions.. so it's an OK expansion.

Conclusion: Do I want to play a game that requires me to restart my computer in order to get maximum performance?

Do I want to play a game where the developers put more effort into Easter Eggs and forum events than fixing the game?

Do I want to play a game that's still in beta testing (yes it's still in beta testing, it's called Battlefield CTE. CTE = Community, TEST, Environment)?

The answer is no. I did have high hopes for this game, I really did. However, this game ultimately failed to deliver. DICE should be ashamed of themselves for: 1.) releasing the game in a broken state. 2.) failing to fix the game in a timely manner. For me, Battlefield 4 ruined the reputation of DICE as a development team. I'm sorry DICE, but i'll never play one of your games again, not after what I experienced with BF4.

    Cons:
    -Dying behind corners constantly
-"Trading kills" 95% of the time I die.
-I've seen my sniper bullets literally go through my enemy's head, he wasn't even injured.
-Vehicle collisions are the worst. A dirtbike could slightly nudge your tank and you would go all over the place. Mario Karts on the N64 has better vehicle physics
    - The Attack Helicopter is still a flying coffin to this date
    - AA can destroy air vehicles at enemy spawn, even when the AA is at his own spawn on most maps.
    - AA is still overpowered
    - Developers have given up on the game and are going to announce a new one. Last patch was 2 months ago and this game has an endless list of bugs
-Childish, Hello Kitty and Spongebob vehicle camos. I didn't buy BF4 to watch other kids live out their anime dream in a military shooter.
    - Most people either crash, freeze, or have low FPS (not me anymore)
    - AC130. Why? Not only is it on like every map, it is almost unstoppable. There is still a glitch (that lasted 2+ patches) where you're AC10 rockets don't register on the enemy and where enemy jets/helis can't damage you even when direct shots are fired.

I GIVE UP, DONT BUY ANYMORE DICE GAMES.

They had countless opportunities to fix the game even if EA did "rush them". Still haven't. Do not ever pre-order an EA or DICE game.

I don't believe for one second that microtransactions and DLC are inherently bad. But how they're implemented can either enhance the game and make the developers a lot more money, or can completely ruin the experience. In Battlefield 4, it's the latter. It's one thing to include a microtransaction system in a free-to-play game. But when your game costs $60 USD, you're already pushing it. BF4 continues to be updated with expansion packs, which cost $15 each. Sure, you can just not buy them- but good luck finding a server that doesn't require them! Even servers playing on stock BF4 maps still regularly reject players who do not have the expansion packs installed. Players can also pay money to skip leveling (a feature common across almost all next-gen titles, unfortunately) and get a "premium membership" where their XP earned is doubled. This trend of "double XP" modes in games has already made the EXP/leveling system pop up in games where you'd least expect it as a cheap cop-out way to add microtransactions into the game. The worst part of paying to skip leveling is the massive number of inexperienced little kids running around with all the best weapons in the game because they got a hold of their mom's credit card. It totally ruins the balance of the game.

On top of all that, Battlefield 4 just isn't that much different from its predecessor to warrant me forking over $60, or more like $100+ if I actually want to play. Levelution is naught but a gimmick. 90% of the time, levelution-based changes to the map are purely aesthetic and hardly affect gameplay at all. And when you consider how slow the server connections are, even on the fastest fiber optic connections, and how buggy and unstable the game is, you're better off sticking to BF3.

That being said, i honestly thought that they took a huge stupid step releasing this game on origin only and you have to play it from a web browser but that's besides the point.

I said i wouldn't get it but it was on sale black friday so i got it. i got the "deluxe" edition, which is **** it says you have the expansion pack "china rising"..what they didn't tell you those no good **** is that "premium customers" get to "unlock the content" two weeks before everyone else..that stung for a bit..why in the sam hill would i purchase it if that was the case? the deluxe edition no less? all to get your hard earned **** cash thats all it is.

the game was released in what, November? rushed to try and beat the call of duty sales(which as much as cod sucks, it will never beat call of duty i am sorry i hate to admit, i don't play it but they won't outsell it). I played the game in beta because i own battlefield 3 and when i played the game it was just like the beta.
my video drivers are up to date..my windows is up to date..pc is pretty good pc but i still got the error saying my video card wasnt the updated version(which it was) and that i could still run the game but it might crash and not cooperate..
well crash it did..constantly..stuck on the **** loading screen. disconnected from games..so i uninstalled and resinstalled it, thinking maybe i had missed something..but no. i tried talking to my man hajib over there, the lovely customer service rep and he was dumb as a stone, offered no help just wanted to see a screen shot of my dxdiag.
I hate to say this..but i am done with the battlefield franchise..i work too hard for my money to be let down. I can't rate this game fully because i didn't enjoy it fully. so the bottom line is if you liked battledfield? stick with the 2nd one, hell if u can stand the web browser and origin even the third one..but ea has gotten my money for the last time..may the rot on the vine and finally get the same dick in their **** that they have been giving us customers for years

I've been playing this franchise since 1942 beta (over 10 years), but have left it due to such a sloppy and release. It's too bad because the game had such potential, but it literally unplayable. There is a 75 page thread on EA regarding ATI cards having memory leaks that locks up the game, and it has still not been fixed.

On top of that, rush seems to get worse with each release. Bad

I am an extremely patient person to the point where I've been called a saint for the things I've put up, but I've run out of patience for this. Congrats EA in living up to your "most evil company" award 2 years in a row! You took a storied franchise and messed it up.

Battlefield takes the crown as the worst multiplayer FPS I've ever played.
Netcode is absolutely abysmal, the bullets seem to travel through time, you can often feel like you got killed before your enemy even saw you. and the gameplay is terrible, the whole thing looks like rabbits running and hoping around with guns.

BF4 is the worst game of the series, stupid and short campaign, crashes, bugs, lags, freezes, progress in MP doesn't save, server crashes. I can't even play one round without crash!!! Levolution looks just like stupid childish explosions, 2 years they were making it, Frostbite 3 is much worse than Frostbite 2. The only positive moment is graphics, but... The AI is just awful.

The sad fact is, they spent more time creating the game for the console tards than actually making a game for the general public and keeping it in the scheme of Battlefield 3. The graphics aren't as good as 3.
The worst part is, if you are playing on PC your game crashes far too much for enjoyable game play. What the hell was the beta for if they can't fix that pre release? Dice say they fixed the hitmarkers, this is a lie. There seems to be a lack of quality all round, The sound drops out, textures go away at times, sniping is made way to easy and the hud in jets and choppers is such a bad colour you cant see it at times while flying.
If I didn't know any better I would say the game was rushed to market.
The new aspect of course being commander. What a boring game mechanic, You sit there and do what? drop things strategically while your whole team is just messing about. Its a great concept but heavily floored.

Despite the above mentioned though, I enjoy Call of Battle, Modern Field Warfare. Though that could just be down to my squad

It's the same old with a glossy new finish, and a couple of tweaks that really should have been included much earlier (like being able to resume reloading). The first person story is a disaster. Not only is it predictable, it denies all sense, and loves riding the sino-russian thing to the grave. We get it. It's an easy idea to run off of. I paid you ~$70. Show me you deserve it. It's not enough to demand that much for basically the same game with only a new gloss--which wasn't really needed for the game experience (yay, realistic sun in my eyes... great, now can i have the key/control that lets me present my realistic hand to block the angle of the sun?.....? well? if you're going to waste so much time adding irritants, you're not doing yourself any favors here...)It's not enough to pay $70 to also update the game and essentially present it as a hacker-free environment... it's going to last for all of 3-6 months at best.

On to the interface. BF3 was ridiculously convenient for navigating squad settings, picking out your weapons and attachments, along with squad perks. It was very quick and easy to access this customization. Despite having played the beta and played this game for a while, the entire thing is still opaque to me. The amount of information available is a bit ridiculous, especially where it neither adds to the game, nor to the player's awareness of the fire-arms.

-3 for a ridiculous single player campaign. Single player was the main driving reason for which I buy games, it also has to be fun to play solo, and re-playable. Some stories are brilliant, and there are games I enjoy re-playing for the single-player component. The single player in this was trash. And that's ignoring the fact that a squad of mentally disabled children would have been more effective for helping you play through the single player than the AI that governs the single-player team-mates.

-3 for what is fundamentally a recycle with a spit-polish. I appreciate that there is only so much that can be done with an idea, but, really, I just don't see what Dice has tried to do in order to keep my loyalty apart from un-necessarily lavishing me with more guns to choose from. I expected the beta release to be fairly elementary. It's not the case. The beta is exactly what you will buy.

Of course, you have to pay incredible amounts of money to get the full game experience.

I haven't even scratched the surface. This game is very sub-par. Basically just Battlefield 3.2

The Good: Graphics (when on high)

    The bad: Everything else

Spawn system: Enemies materialize off on their squad leaders when being engaged. Enemies materialize on points under capture at random areas. Enemies spawn out of the sky from choppers and fall down onto points. There is no semblance of a frontline. Enemies can be anywhere at any time very easily.

Unlocks: Right off the bat you'll be playing against experienced players with access to better weapons and vehicle perks that completely dominate over the base guns/vehicle loadouts. Want to compete? Either be fodder for a few weeks and level up or pay to win by buying unlocks outright. Merit counts for very little in this game. It doesn't matter if you are an experienced, team oriented FPS gamer with a working microphone and a will to work with other players.... it counts for nothing in this game.

Maps: Small. Lots of geometry which makes it difficult to spot enemies on the lower non anti-aliased detail settings. No real choke points. Lots of maps with many stupid high sniper points which basically ensures that you will often get killed from very high unexpected. Due to the spawn system, and the large number of entrances on every capture point, you'll have enemies coming at you from every direction and there is little you can do to play defensively to hold a point. It's Unreal Tournament deathmatch with capture points.

Vehicles: All vehicles feel weak and underpowered without the unlocks. The way the choppers fly is a definite downgrade from BF2. Not agile one bit. Planes dominate and spawn frequently.

Damage system: Baffling... to say the least. Once again unlocks have far better handling than the default weapons and are overall more effective. Guns seem to either be grossly overpowered or underpowered.

As an original fan of the BF1942 and BF2, I find this game to be truly a piece of crap. It is an insufferable cash-grab. It has turned a once merit-driven team-based FPS into a pay-to-win clusterfu__ sh__fest with absolutely no redemable qualities. The type of game design you would expect to see on a free-to-play cell phone game and not on a $50 game that requires an expensive machine to play.

Utter... complete... sh**. A disgrace to the team-based FPS genre. Par the course for EA Games published title.

I record all my matches and realized that the problem was due to the game. The game has HORRID hit detection and netcode is at its worst. I empty full mags on enemies with their backs facing me and there are many hit marks on the crosshair. Yet they take 0 damage, turn around and instant kills me quite often.

I wouldn't have a problem if BF3 was still alive and kicking. However, only 2 servers that ever show up on Battlelog for BF3 and it really **** everything up.

I instead tried out some other FPS's like CS:GO and even TF2 and realized how much more fluid and crisp the gameplay was. None of this uncertainty of netcode and hit registration.

It crashes all the time and will frustrate you with its many bugs and lack of polish. Stay away until a good few months of patches have been applied!

This is a good game, but i have a 50% quit rate because of the awesome bugs that kick you from servers. If this many people are having problems then don't release the game. Make sure it works first. My guess is that EA wants to win the worst company in the US for the third year in a row though, so they are just making sure that we vote for them.

An unstable bug filled mess. No time was spent for Q/A and the product was released unfinished. I have yet to finish a match without the game or, worse, server crashing. When the server crashes you lose ALL progress. Highly advise to stay away for at least several months when they finally patch this game.

For players looking for Rush gameplay, this BF4 is a sore disappointment.but if EA give us battlefield 2 and 3 with i will buy itseeming more like the Armored Kill and End Game maps. There are no maps like Grand Bazar, Seine or Aftermath.

There are serious problems with the spawn on the defensive team of a few maps, resulting in many instant kills after spawn.

And it finally came out,I was angry that game has so many errors. graphic of this game cool but,

The graphics is much better than Battlefield 3, and finally the maps aren't just 50 shades of blue. Sound is still in a class of it's own. DICE has reintroduced Commander mode, squad leaders aren't a joke, and a commo rose that works. Changes to the server listing in Battelog means it's quite feasible to run settings close to classic Battlefield without having issues with filling it up.

So on paper, there's a lot to look forward to. But both single player and multiplayer are almost completely ruined by a few but very important core issues. Note I do not mention co-op because Battlefield 4 has no co-op, a surprising and sad move in my opinion.

In the case of the single player it's the story. Sure it's a corridor shooter, but even those can be interesting if the story is good, for example like Spec Ops: The Line or Medal of Honor (2010). While the story in Battlefield 4 isn't as bad as in Battlefield 3, it is not a whole lot better. It contains a handful of bland characters doing things that make no sense, with tons of boring cut scenes and highly predictable plot devices. By trying to make the story as "epic" as possible DICE has completely lost sight of what makes a good and engaging story. In the end the single player is a boring interactive movie which you grudgingly grind through just to unlock a few weapons for the multiplayer.

Now, singleplayer is one thing, but what keeps people player Battlefield has always been it's multiplayer. With gorgeous visuals, rich and engaging sound scape it's hard not to be impressed, even after playing Battlefield 3. However there are a couple of things which are essential to a good multiplayer shooter, and as Team Fortress 2 shows, it's not super-realistic graphics.

The basics are gun play and netcode. Sadly Battlefield 4 fails miserably in both categories. First, the direction the bullets travel and the direction the barrel is pointing are just vaguely correlated in Battlefield 4. Players who are good at controlling the recoil and keeping the aim on target will be punished. Snipers who are quick to react and get the crosshairs back on target will miss. This creates a serious disconnect with the weapons. Add the toned-back-but-still-present suppression effect and you often find yourself thinking you're shooting blanks.

Worse is the netcode. DICE has finally come out and said that improving the netcode is a high priority for them. However the issues that plagues Battlefield 4 has consistently plagued Frostbite games since Bad Company 2. They've had 4 PC shooters using the Frostbite engine with the exact same issues. In my view the most frustrating issues are client-side hit detection and broken chronology, meaning you get hit and die from someone you haven't seen shooting yet, who is pointing a completely different direction or is behind a wall. They are somewhat intertwined, but Bad Company 2 had chronology issues yet with server-side hit detection.

The netcode issues affects vehicles as well. Lock-on warnings which sound immediately before the rocket hits, etc.

With the absolutely fundamental issues more or less completely broken, it's a real struggle to have any fun playing multiplayer. If you just want to sit on a hill, have a few beers and take potshots at the enemy running around some flag then it's not half bad. But it is very far away from being a serious shooter.

Which is sad in a way, as one easily senses there's a lot one could like about Battlefield 4 had it not had vinegar all over it.

But this game is not Battlefield. With bugs ranging from connection problems, graphical errors (during the first few days my game looked like a colorful mess), spawning is horrid on almost every map (I get sniped instantly), I cant even load into a Conquest or Rush server because the load times are so long that I just get disconnected due to a map change. Forcing me to play TDM or other smaller map gamemodes. Anyone who says this game is great from the start is completely wrong. I could compare this start to SimCity. (Yeah that bad) I wasnt even able to play the campaign for 5 minutes without crashing. I even lowered my settings to lowest, and Im only able to get an extra 10 minutes of gameplay.

We all know that battlefield has a great history of awful campaigns ,but this one is just absolutely empty. The plot is really uninteresting, even though it tries to give us a brief overview of characters the game ends too soon to make us feel anything for them. Story has to show all vehicles (air/ground/water) not just few of them and it really lacks freedom in game play ,i mean really its battlefield series after all so i would at least expect possibility to change story path by choosing my own actions The end mission decision really does not count). But never mind the story mode ,lets talk about the diamond of the battlefield series.

The Multiplayer. Oh my god ,the multiplayer. I will not lie ,i did have some fun playing it ,but i could as well say that i did have some fun playing call of duty for 30 minutes and threw it in my games box afterwards. We all know about these common pc crashes (applies to single player too) and disconnects that seriously hurt when you are having a clan match, these problems SHOULD NOT EXIST, as the beta was absolute disaster we should at least expect technical improvement after so much torture, but no ,it really feels like the focus of all time was the consoles even though the game plays nearly as awful. A personal issue for me would be the sniper class, in hardcore mode they are absolute quick scope master class ,i am saying that because i tried the class and i got 300 kills in about 6 hardcore matches. We all know that at the moment air rules the battlefield as the ground vehicles were nerfed while air was powered up to the max ,you can dominate the battlefield without any unlocks.

I will give this game a 0 ,not because it is that awful ,but because the Dev's did not put effort in the things that make battlefield play like BATTLEFIELD. I am really disappointed, because i spent around 600$ to improve my pc so i could run the game flawlessly ,while it really doesn't show any features that should require such expensive gear.

I love battlefield series and i will not tolerate if this game gets destroyed because of devs focus towards unecessary features instead of what the game really is about.

The maps have no flow and it is entirely impossible to predict where your enemy will come from.
No matter how quick you are with your gun, if the enemy always shows up behind you there is no tactical element to speak of.
In Battlefield 3, the previous game in the series, even losing a match was a lot of fun.
In Battlefield 4, there is not a minute of enjoyment to be had, win or lose.

The specialization mechanic is frustrating, causing you to have too little ammo until you reach the mandatory number of squad paddy cakes.
Because the upgrade paths are already set, there is no way to have both extra rockets and extra ammo for the engineer class, causing you to either run out of your ability to defeat tanks or run out of your ability to fight infantry.
The gadgets are designed to be frustrating and involve no tactics or skills.
The UCAV in particular comes to mind.

Do not pick up this game.
I would go even further and suggest that you should not buy any more games designed by DICE until they've proven themselves to be worth the money and your trust.
The trajectory of DICE shown by Battlefield 4 is a truly unfortunate one indeed.

    - Same bugs exist upon release that has been in every game release. Glitches that manipulate leaderboards, repair bugs, one hit bugs, sound bugs. All have been in previous releases so why not expect they would be in a new one before releasing it.

    - AIRCRAFT- Stealth Aircraft. (1) Aircraft period take far to long to respawn. well over 3 minutes. If you like to fly you get autokicked for being idle. (2) Flares/ECM virtually useless. There is virtually no lockon warning before your sent to the ground in a fireball. (3) WAY TO MUCH AA. You can't go anywhere on a map without some form of AA shooting you down. In a combat situation missle reload times far to long. Decrease the time or make more of that weapon available such as BF2 had. (4) Stealth Aircraft has the worst gun site in the game I believe. U have barely a little dot in the hud that is hidden by the flight indicator making tracking virtually impossible. You have a better chance of hitting in an external view. Thats just the jets, lets go to a battlefield favorite!!

    The Helo's. In particular the
    - ATTACK HELO. Was an awsome model from games past. Little or no armor against any form of AA. And the gunner is as useless as its weapons seem to be. Guns, just as the Stealth Aircraft take far to long to reload. TV missles! Every Helo Pilots faveorite weapon to seat switch into has been nerfed so bad that it cant destroy a thing. And by a think I mean a fence. WTF!

Any and ALL Armor is way overpowered. Have put 4 SMAW on target yielding mayby 50% damage. If that and trying to run and gun against that is crazy.

Ok the Kits. Seems the the Assauly kit is WAY TO OVERPOWERED. One shot kills while using seem to be the motto in every server I go into. Weapons are overpowered compared to the other kits.

Rarely get hit markers on anything. I Have put full clips into targets, many at close range and didnt get one hit marker yet one shot later im dead.

Quite honestly I think I have finally gave in with this game. Ready to leave the gaming clan and quit playing altogether because of this game. Its frusterating going into a game that constantly crashes, or has more bugs than my backyard or all the horrible critiques and messages everywhere that DICE still wont fix the game. Instead they try to dress it up with a horrible DLC (China Rising) Addressed nothing, fixed nothing. You added a few new maps, a couple POS gadgets and think thats what we want?? Maps alone would be fine if you listened to the gaming community and fixed the game. I would really like all the money I have spent on this game from the Premium Membership to the Digital Deluxe version just refunded but that like hoping this game would be fixed is just a dream. Now while Im sure there will no doubt be a lot of Die Hard BF fans reading this, and I assure you I have been one since BF2 that they will say "Well, go play Call of Duty"! Ide say gladly. I have had all there games and they were tested right and release will little or no bugs. So DICE, take a page from their books. They obviously are doing something right. This game gets the lowest mark in history from me. Im ashamed to be a Battlefield fan after purchasing and playing this game.

On my computer, one slightly-above-average desktop PC, the game stutters and crashes far beyond the acceptable limit before frustration. Maps, which have yet to make anybody happy except the stereotypical expert player, in which huge open ranges allow for 110-rank players to sit and annihilate your entire team regardless of what part of the map you spawn in. Vehicles are now more overpowered and the lesser ones now made worse. Jets are now invincible, travel at the speed of light, and cannot be shot down by anything, and helicopters now require you to run away whenever you enter any open area because any engineer with two rockets in a rocket launcher can take YOUR ONE FLARE and reload faster. Tanks, previously effective anti-infantry vehicles, previously 'fair' in BF3, are now not even weak enough to be called a 'tank'. Several of the secondary more-powerful anti-tank mines will only disable movement. Anti-aircraft, a vehicle whose purpose was completely obliterated when people now use the heavy machine guns in order to mow down infantry, and end up camping in their spawn locations (which you cannot enter.) Alongside a whole other set of unbearable problems, like a rocket artillery you find campers hiding in spawns, can also take down piles of infantry. Tanks can now carry two different types of different, more advanced shells, both overpowered to the max. Anybody who likes BF3 (Or any previous) should take a big look before they purchase this game. Sixty dollars I would rather spend to have my house egged.

DICE, EA, anyone, make this game more fun than frustrating and I'll feel better. Maybe a four.

Wow. What can I say. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a game on any platform. So much potential wasted by bugs and connection issues. I have un-installed the game and Origin. I feel better. I've spent/lost $60 on dumber things so I'll just move on. In the future I will not be purchasing any Dice, EA, or Origin products. Ya, it's a loss for me when they have such coolWow. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Played the whole series and greatly enjoyed them all.......except this one.

EA management have shown some serious contempt for their customers, because selling this game in its original state must have bordered on illegal. It just didn't do what it was supposed to...ie : play.

After 3 months of constant updates and patches, its better (ie: It actually plays, most of the time), but there's still loads wrong or flawed within the game.

Overall, BF4 is good looking when it works but the endless flaws are difficult to accept when you've paid a premium price, for a second rate game.

I've played more many more enjoyable games that were free.

Honestly one of the biggest disappointments of 2013 for me. There are so many things wrong with this game that plague something that could have been very good with proper preparation. The amount of times I find myself instantly jumping 100 to 0 health is outrageous. Suppression was a good concept in Battlefield 3, and it returns edited. It is still, unfortunately, terrible. The amount of times I find myself instantly jumping 100 to 0 health is outrageous. Suppression was a good concept in Battlefield 3, and it returns edited. It is still, unfortunately, terrible. I have lined up hundreds of shots with a carbine only to miss every shot because an enemy with a light machine gun fires one bullet near me. There is still a stupid amount of lag in servers, even with 30- ping, which to me is unacceptable. The game simply does not have a high enough server refresh rate, so what you see and what your enemies see are often different, resulting in the earlier mentioned instant health drop. Hitboxes actually fall behind players sometimes, so what should be a hit is sometimes displayed with no hitmarker, no damage, but blood from the enemy. This can be proven on the test range, which actually is nearly useless considering there are very few realistic situations available. By this I mean there are a few slow UAVs, a few motionless boats, and a couple buggies.

Now for the campaign. There's really not much to say about the campaign because there is really not much to it. All it is is pointless cursing and shooting. There may have been a plot that I missed, but for the most part it could just be an interactive Michael Bay film. There are silly cutscenes, situations, you name it.

The only way I would ever recommend this game to anyone is if its bugs are fixed entirely. The multiplayer has a good base, but EA just decided to rush another game out the door, creating possibly the biggest disappointment of 2013 for me personally. I had the intention to pre-order premium, but wow am I glad I didn't.

To many bugs and netcode is awfull! Infantry fighting is only possible on one map (Operation locked), and its very common that both players kill eachother because of the netcode. It could be fun if the teams are even to use tanks or boat, but if they are not, you feel very helpless. Battlefield 3 and bad company 2 was actually much better games. Same crappy singeplayer as BF3, multiplayer is decent when it works. The problems is that BF4 has lost almost all the character that made BF games so from from the start.

Pros: absolute brilliant graphics, large maps, brilliant single player campaign .
Cons: it will kick me off before I finish ANY multiplayer game, annoying habit of flicking me around 180 degrees, randomly freezes, playing on a 8350/7870 ghz/ssd computer, so it is not the specs plus the single player campaign has no such problems ( will play Crysis 3 high res no problems)

Great game if you like reading forums and updating stuff ! Game crashes every 5 minutes for absolutely no reason. I bought a brand new 1500$ computer to play this game and it is a total disappointment. Buy COD

This game is so awful. Remember that Simpsons-episode where Homer designs his own car? He throws in every feature he thinks people want and the result is an aberration of a car that only Bart Simpson thinks is cool. The Battlefield series is the gaming world's analogy to that car. In Battlefield, every opponent can be seen on the minimap and you can spawn anywhere you like. You can drive and fly any vehicle you like as there is rarely a lack of vehicles. The result is a very non-functional and chaotic game that makes all the ADHD, Bart Simpson-kids out there occupied, but even they seem to think "Battlefield sucks", if we are to judge from all the negative posts on the official forums. For everyone else, Battlefield is a game of dice - completely random.

Stay away from Battlefield if you want a FPS that needs skills and has some meaning to it. It really is just an advanced COD-clone.

Battlefield 4 could just as well be called Battlefield 3.5. The new Battlefield features are only marginal improvements over Battlefield 3, but even as such it leaves the competitors way behind. Hopefully the bugs will be squashed soon. [Nov 2013]

Even if multiplayer wasn't buggy, Battlefield 4 would still only be a barely passable installment in all respects besides the snazzy graphics. EA and DICE played it safe by providing the same thing they did the last time around, with another phoned-in campaign and only minor alterations to the online.

Battlefield 4 keeps soldiering on in the same footsteps as previous games in the series. The lack of worthwhile news makes you wish for more. Dice stays in its comfort zone calls for explosions and not much more. The series needs to evolve or fade out.
