This game is a complete let down, the graphics took a back seat, the multiplayer is laggy and clunky, and the story mode is a rip off from black ops. Don't believe the reviews and save your money, rent it and experience it for yourself. Not to mention the servers suck, i hope EA gets their act together next time.

The online play looks like fun, the weapons look like they would be great, and the scenery looks like it would be fun to hide in. I say looks like, because since the release date I've only been able to play for at most 2 or 3 rounds at a time...constantly plagued by CTD's, Lag, Rubber Banding on some servers and disappearing textures. My rig is below recommended but far above minimum. It seems that DICE, defying all logic, has released two client side patches which nerf/buff certain weapons in game, but have introduced a host of new issues with game stability - the game will freeze within a few minutes of entering a server, and then hard lock my system.

Origin, EA's Steam like service if fine - I really don't care about running it...what bothers me is the restrictive access that EA gives you when it comes to your ownership of the game. You are forced to tie your game account to your origin account, which binds your email to both accounts. Your game is launched through Battlelog, EA's web browser based server system and social network. Here's where the fun really begins.

Battlelog is, as far as I can tell, the most bloated piece of software ever created. The server browser in a webpage model is utter lunacy. You need to have Origin running, to launch the browser which launches the game. Not too mention that if you should be in breach of EA's TOS on their Battlelog forum, welcome to the banhammer. Swearing or any other minor infraction will get you an unexpected 72 hour forum ban WHICH ALSO MEANS YOU CANNOT ACCESS ANY OF YOUR PAID GAMES FROM EA! In some cases, users have been reporting permanent bans for no reason, other than comments posted on Battlelog. Permanent bans mean YOU LOSE ALL YOUR PURCHASED EA GAMES!

This for me is the most distracting problem with the game. Please be warned before purchasing Battlefield 3, your EA games can be at risk if you choose to visit their forums and break the rules. In conclusion, wait until this game is in the bargain bin. There are better companies to support with your hard earned cash, and better games which don't have the glaring technical problems that BF3 has.

Personally, I don't believe that the best people are those, who say they are best. BF got raped massively, and the result is unbelievably expensive game, which no one of my first-person shooter friends actually plays. It's not on steam. So sure about themselves. Damn EA.

The problem I have with online is it's lack of evolution. A lot of things have been successfully tweaked, and it's been given more of a stat friendly modern day layering. However the core game has not been truly evolved. In this specific case, I don't mind that much. The deeper physics, mindblowing visuals, and immersion of a battlefield - are all higher than they have ever been. Combine that with longterm play viability due to an incredibly rewarding rewards system - and it's a harmony worth it's entry price and then some. Reccomended. The single player of the game is fun, but it's definitely apparent (and anyone who knows anything about the primary Battlefield series to know that this is true) that the focus was on designing the games multiplayer. My gripe is with the mandatory installation of Origin. A terribly glitchy program required to play BF3 at all unless you use a hack to get around it which no consumer should have to do just to play a dam game that they've spent 40 quid on. Origin's EULA states that it collects data from your pc including post code, IP address, installed software and hardware and a few more things which it reserves the right to share with its "third partys" without our consent as consumers. I do not believe that wanting to play a video game online entitles them to this kind of personal information and on that base alone whilst Origin remains a mandatory component of all future EA releases i will refuse to purchase any products at all from the company whatsoever.

I may perhaps continue buying products in the future if Origin is removed and a formal apology is sent to the world from EA for all the customers they're losing through this gross display of power hunger.

Until then EA can shove Origin...

Graphics are excellent. Gameplay is excellent. Campaign is excellent. Multiplayer I rate a 5/10 which is what I base my review on. IMO this is an excellent game in all aspects except multiplayer. EA has done an excellent job but has forgotten the number 1 killer of multiplayer games which makes anyone other than the most addicted of children frustrated and turn the game off. While I love the game and the gameplay, the weapons, the graphics, I find the multiplayer mode totally infuriating at times. Here is why.

The game physics and weapon physics are so totally unrealistic that it is not just annoying, but just plain stupid at times.

When you are playing a sniper with a 12x scope with upgraded rifle and you are ducked just around a corner in prone position and you take 2 seconds to target someone, then to have them head shot you practically instantly with a sub machine gun from 250 yards, you just know something is wrong with the game physics altogether. This scenario can play itself out over and over and over again in this game, which will drive anyone but the most addicted of children away from multiplayer. Engineers are somewhat the biased best character role in this game because of this physics flaw. Because you can use practically any weapon as a sniper rifle and the engineer comes with a rocket launcher and equipment repair kit, the engineer class totally dominates which is nothing short of rediculous.

Nowhere in real modern warfare do you hear of the amazing engineer battling it out at the front lines wasting people except in this game.

The game physics, despite EAs tremendous experience with EA Sports and other first person shooter type games also lack duress or fatigue. So it is no problem for a player to run constantly and target people perfectly for 20 minutes straight. To be honest, games like this make me happy because I play paintball and these games lure people into the sport. They think they can run and shoot and run and shoot with perfect aim and they certainly learn the laws of fatigue and physics on the real field - because they cant hit the broad side of a barn as they are so tired and they have rented some M4 replica gun that shoots fast but is inaccurate as heck.

In this game the AI in the campaign scenarios even on hard difficulty mask this lack in physics by merely ACTING more realistically. However EA would have done the game far more justice by improving the physics and letting the AI play harder.

If I had a penny for every time I was sniped by a small sub machine pistol like a SCAR-H at significant range I would be a millionaire. It forces me to just turn off the game in frustration very often.

If this was several years ago I would have given this same game a review with a 10 rating. However EA has to get their act together when it comes to physics, the PS3 is no longer a new device nor is the genre of first person military campaign shooter.

I also must say that the controls are truly frustrating, counterintuitive, and you cannot change them. For example the fire button is the R1 button while the R2 button is the knife. This leads you in instinctive mode accidentally pulling out the knife when you are trying to shoot until you get used to it. The controls also reverse all over the place depending on what vehicle and fire mode you are in. For example when in first person mode, R1 is fire, R2 is knife, L1 is zoom and L2 is grenade. Jump in a tank however and then R1 becomes IR smoke, R2 becomes throttle, L2 becomes brake and L1 becomes fire. Switching weapons at least is stable at triangle. When you are in an aircraft the controls also jump all over the place. That granted, the game does do a decent job of telling you what the controls are as the game plays. The control system would be better if the buttons were a bit more intuitive and stable, such as R2 was always fire and L2 was always zoom and maybe when driving make the jump button throttle. I'm sure they did their best but I was playing this game extensively with two very experienced FPS gamers who have been playing FPS games for a combined 25 years and the controls took a ton of getting used to.

On the audio side the sound in general is fantstic but again in multiplayer they totally dropped the ball. There is no audio setting to shut up the squad communication system. Normally this is fine because most people dont use it but it is not uncommon to have some guy's microphone held on in vox hearing his TV and game sounds or some fool breathing like he's getting it on for the entire round which is very distracting.

Overall it is a great game, but EA could certainly do a lot better than this when it comes to physics, control setting flexibility, and audio settings and most importantly of all fatigue. You cant run 10 miles then aim like youve been sitting for 10 minutes in prone. MP mode gives inordinate advantage to those with no life.

    Anyway.

Graphic wise, I had issue with the facial expressions of the humans though. They were very detailed dolls. It's a small disappointment considering the amount of effort put into making realistic motion and such, but you're not staring at faces most of the time in BF3 eh? Apart from the slightly laggish rendering that's pronouced when looking around quickly, the environments and vehicles were fantastic, as expected.

The music sucks, but the sound effects were great.

The campaign was rubbish. After all their marketing and insecure justifications, it's just a wannabe COD campaign. The story was...o-k...but it was poorly narrated. Honestly, Bad Company had much better campaigns. Heck, even the rubbish thrown out by Treyarch's better. Just.

Multiplayer is where is shines. As expected from the BF series, maps can be huge and when playing with the right group of people, expect epic battles and intense tit-for-tat movement of objectives. However, compared to COD multiplayer, the learning curve is higher and the pace is much slower, so, unfortunately, fantastic game though it is, it'll very unlikely surpass COD as one of the hottest multiplayer franchises.

It's a world unknown to me habitated by invincible players too good for me to enjoy it. I don't really have the time, nor do I want to improve. So I'm more of a single player, story-mode player.

The single player was short, uninspiring and like any other cliché. It's like the writers have some sort of story generator with just a few factors like: "Russian" "Middle East" "Conspiracy" "Explosions" "American hero" etc. It's boring and a perspective we've all seen too much of in movies and games. I don't honestly think that this is what players want. Now, imagine this beautifully developed game with a solid single player story mode. A story mode that had the same magnitude as, let's say, Skyrim or Fallout. Where you develop your character. Explore cities, "dungeons" etc. Sounds like a roleplaying game but it really doesn't have to be.

All in all not worth the money if you're looking for a single player adventure. I really can't speak for the multiplayer community though.

Multiplayer can be addictive, the mechanics haven't changed much since BF2. The gameplay is polished and looks and sounds fantastic. Some of the first maps are a bit too closed in, as I was expecting to play on the full map size. A gamepad works well for airborne vehicles. You'll want to have a book when you're loading up the multiplayer, since the server browser takes a few minutes to actually load into a game. Don't pay full price for the game, but wait for a good sale instead. You'll need a broadband connection to download the 4GB patches that have come out recently.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is always saddening when a game over-hypes itself. Not only will it be impossible to live up to the expectations, but the workforce will also have to try to create this "perfect" game. This is exactly the life style of Battlefield 3. Between the flame wars they started with Activision, and EA quickly becoming more and more greedy, the idea of a perfect game was much more fantasy than reality. Now, with that said: the gameplay is mildly solid, the maps are fairly good, and the weapons are far more diverse than ever. However, the game's multiplayer itself is not at all solid. The game boasts several animation glitches, very poor servers, and the same amount of overpowered weapons as the Call of Duty series. In addition, the destructibility of the maps are nowhere near the usual amount for a Battlefield game. Bad co. 2, the prequel if you do not know, had the ability to obliterate entire buildings with explosives, crush walls with tanks, and destroy several walls with vehicle guns. In this game, all buildings will remain standing magically. While I can understand this from some perspectives, this adds more problems then it solves. Campers are now a problem in Battlefield, the battlefield becomes stoic and unchanging, and hiding from vehicles is easily possible. Now, when it comes to story, as interestingly told as it is, it's still the same thing as every single modern game just rehashed and labeled "Battlefield 3." Here it is: Soldier goes to some war-torn place, gets evacuated, enemies steal a nuke, there's a betrayal, one nuke goes off, other is sent to NYC, you chase it, defeat the person who stole it, and walk away as the only survivor... The end. See? The same story as almost every single FPS game. It gets boring.

While the game is fun for a while, on PC, that is, it gets boring, stoic, and less than fun. Unless the price goes down immensely soon, or it comes to steam, I would highly not recommend it.

Save money, this game is a disgrace to battlefield. You will spend half the time wondering how the hell did that drop you in 3 rounds when you literally just spent half a mag on some retard only to find out you did 42 damage on an assist because of client side lag. Stick with multiplayer, you'll love the BF franchise, trust me. I was once a CoD player. When i came over, i decided to upgrade my PC just for this game. And i've also played full 15 days of BF4 beta, reordered the full game.

The maps are too big and too much time is spent wandering around doing nothing, the maps are poorly designed and if they were designed better it would force ppl into conflict more often.

The knife never works unless you press up against the player, it's like the guy has no arms.

The biggest issue and what makes this the worst campfest around is you get killed in 2 shots by any gun and the red flash you get when being shot blinds your entire screen so reacting is taking out of the equation.

Both great games that sucked hours of my time. must agree that BF3 is the by the best looking game in the BF series, but I'm very disappointed in the game menu interface (i.e. multiplayer, campaign selection), and single player campaign. More importantly I'm very disappointed about being forced to download a bloated client (origin) to run MY game. I don't care if EA wants to use it as social media service. Quite frankly, I do not regularly use the mainstream social media sites (except reddit). If i understood that I needed to use Origin and install a web plug-in. I wouldn't have bought the game. For the following user experience please note that I own a brand new Alienware Area-51 rig, with i7 and Crossfire enabled on twin 6870s. To start BF3 you click on the BF3 icon, then you wait about 30 seconds to a minute until Origin starts, again you wait another minute, finally firefox starts. At this point to play multiplayer, you need to set or reset your server filter depending on what type of game you want to play (i.e. rush or conquest). Once you have your filter in place, you need to select your server. You'll probably go through 5 or 6 until you find an available server. Now you can join a game and the game starts loading, so prepare to wait another minute or two. Finally you're in the game and hopefully you're not changing maps, because you'll need to wait a few more minutes. Now you in the game, and you'll get to experience some pretty good game play.

I thought the game play was good if you were a soldier. You could sprint as much as needed, the shooting and rifles we're fun as hell. You could run, dive jump and move quick to cover. I didn't enjoy being a sniper as I thought their wasn't as many good snipe points as BC2 or 2142. That was really disappointing to me as I love being a sniper. As for the vehicles, they sure as hell look pretty. However, I felt that the vehicles we're non-responsive, and the damage they did was poor in comparison to Bad Company 2. As a game play note, make sure you have your controls down when you try flying a jet.

Overall an average game, and because of the Origin experience I'm getting nervous about play SWTOR. I'm not going to ask for my money back, but I hope they improve it dramatically. I'd much sooner have a native client to run the game.

    1. graphics look fantastic

    on the negative side:
    1. the game is riddled with bugs like graphics, physics, connections to server, lag.
    2. the online matchmaking system is as of yet crap as there are no proper servers available
    3. launching from a browser is fine, but if the game is not preloaded it takes time(got a SSD setup and the works) and if the server for some reason is no good (lag, ping, players, map) then you'll have to quit the game and go back to the browser, just to start over again.
    4. did I mention that finding actual servers where there is room to play is limited? Early probably for sure...
    5. The settings do not remember your choices even though you confirm three times that "YES I WANT IT". I simply cannot recommend this game, I have seen no changes from the beta to the launch and distributing this game is way too early. Look at the amount of negative feedback, and look how oddly consistent the review sites are in their praise... bought off? I'm probably a conspiracy theorist, but it seems odd that 40% of users reporting on this game is NEGATIVE and further 10% have mixed feelings.

Waste of money because you'll either fail:
    1. your computer does not meet the requirements(mine is top of the line)
    2. your location is not close enough to the few EA servers available (free servers are not possible, paid service - to ensure "product consistency" probably... sure it's consistently ****
    3. your particular OS, drivers, chip set, graphics-card makes the game act just the wrong way.

This game needed another 5 months of re-factoring and code stabilization, as well as some performance measurement and analysis. And the firing what ever sales idiot who pushed this to market ahead of Call of Duty: modern warfare 3.

Poor and unsatisfying single player, that feels rushed out in order to beat MW3 to the shops. However the big issue for me is the required installation of "Origin", and offensive and bug ridden piece of privacy-invading software. Do not buy.

The single player and coop are nothing compared to the original sp and coop of the series. They do little to prepare you for the actual mp gameplay. While they do demonstrate the capabilities of the game, they are a very poor cousin of the original game modes.
It is much more closer to the Bad Company series and even carries all of the unresolved bugs of the Bad Company series. It's a good game - sure, but that's a let down when an epic game was expected.

Campaign: I began by trying to set up my keys to how I usually bind them. I've always been able to bind mouse keys, until BF3. So now my knife attack is somewhere else on the keyboard, leaving it useless in a melee situation. A bigger problem with the campaign was that I couldn't even play to the ending! For some reason, I have a glitch that kills me on the subway on the last level every time. I played that damn subway about 60 times before saying F-it, I give up. At which point I picked up the multiplayer, which is why I bought the game in the first place.

Multiplayer: Here's where I lost my shyte. First off, the graphics on a map this large are completely lacking. In fact, I felt the graphics brought me back to 2001 Ghost Recon type stuff. I wasn't happy, but figured it was due to the epic size of the map, so I overlooked it. Then the game play fail started. Let me begin by saying that I'm a good first person shooter on multiplayer. I'm usually a top 3 team player on whatever game I pick up. This game left me with a negative kill/death ratio all the time. I understand there's a learning curve, but the slower I go and stop from "runnin n gunnin" the more I got picked off. The vehicle controls plain out suck, so I stopped using them. Must take a crackhead to figure that crap out and it's totally counter intuitive. I pick up a sniper rifle, take aim, BANG, a bloody hit! But wait, the guy's still running, BANG BANG, two more hits! Wait, still running? WTF? 3 second later, I'm running to cut him off and take one sniper bullet and I'm dead. Really? REALLY???

Sorry, I will never buy another BF game. Origin can take the money and stuff it, I'm uninstalling and I'm giving the game and my account to someone I hate.

Ugly, the graphics felt so much better, but so much better in Battlefield Bad Company. The campaign in Call of dutty 2 Modern warfare is a hundred times better and a million times more entretaining. This campaign looks like a game from 1996. How could this happen? O M G what a terrible way to ruin a reputation. Total fiasco. I'm not even gonna try the game on line after this.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In this review im going to talk about Battlefield 3 and the other 2 "expansions".
This game is suppose to be a competitor of CoD, although i havent played that game ( apart from world at war ) so i cant judge that.
Battlefield 3 however i can judge after spending more hours then most "professional" reviewers from websites like IGN or whatever they call them.

    Frostbite 2

Battlefield 3 introduces the new Frostbite 2 engine which is nothing more then a updated version of the frostbite version we seen in Bad Company 2.
This engine had serious hitbox issues in multiplayer making multiplayer not worth the effort for a esports community.

Frostbite 2 has fixed this issue as much as they can, however since its a update they will never fix this completely.
Frostbite 2 did help alot with updating the graphics while keeping the game run smooth, you can run this game on a average pc and still make it look pretty good while having a stable fps.
On consoles the fps might be a bit lower and the graphics a bit less, however consoles are pretty much outdated now.
So its not really a suprise the graphics are that far behind, this is just one of the big disadvantages console users have.

    Gameplay

This is where a multiplayer focused game like BF3 has to shine, since we all know one of the major rules in online gaming: Graphics last for a week, gameplay lasts forever.
It seems EA has never heard of this rule though, since the gameplay is where this game is absolute pathetic.
First of all they went with the failed concept in the new so called "FPS" games and that is putting vehicles in the game.
Something not a single professional esports game ever had, ( seen any vehicles in counterstrike ? )
Also the so called "normal" mode the game is just pathetic aswell, health points on players is way to large basicly making the game "he who sprays first sprays best" game.
Taking about 15 bullets to 1 clip for 1 kill on normal isnt really helping.

On hardcore however the game is pretty decent for this and the gameplay pretty much fixes this, making the normal mode more of a "newbie" setting and hardcore the "pro" setting.

The 1st "expansion" is nothing more then a DLC with a few maps and guns so no point in going into detail there.

The 2nd "expansion" is basicly the same, however this is where they want to directly compete with CoD by making a cqb focused game.
EA however have never heard of gameplay it seems, CQB expansion is the biggest load of **** and even worse then the orginal BF3 game.
A huge amount of "lucky spawn" happening in the game also not disabling certain weapons.

What you can see in the expansion in SC2 they learned one other lesson which is "less is more", they remove a unit because its overpowered combined with a other unit.

This is something EA should have done aswell with the latest expansion, by removing weapons like shotguns in the CQB mode/maps you would have created a bit more balanced game.

The biggest problem in that expansion however though is the spawning in the maps, its simply pathetic that something like that passed the beta.
Clearly shows that EA has put 0% effort into testing that "expansion" with regards to gameplay, they basicly pulled of the same trick activision.
Which is release a new "expansion" with just a few maps and weapons and cash in.

    Community support

What makes or breaks a multiplayer focused game also depends on the community support the developer gives.
This however is a bit lacking in this game, they could have introduced a bit more support on their website for clans and tournaments.
At least something like a ranking system, which basicly every serious multiplayer game has.
A game that doesnt isnt a serious game for a esports community.

    Recap:

    Graphics : 8
    Sound : 7
    Gameplay : 4 Community support : 4

I had seen the adverts, watched the movies and read the previews and was looking forward to more destruction, more realism etc etc. What I got instead was something that reminded me of Frontlines: Fuel of War in look and character and something that sent me back to Battlefield: Vietnam in terms of my satisfaction. In multiplayer, this looks pretty good in places but it feels laggy, it looks and plays arcadey and it does not live up to its promise in its current form. It is not (and on reflection was not intended as) a sequel to Bad Company 2, which is what I personally wanted but it also does not feel like BF2. It feels lighter, less substantial, less grown up almost. It is disappointing...particularly given the lack of destruction compared to BFBC2.

In single player the campaign is okay if unfulfilling, with make-work tasks, plots like half the recent FPS' out there, dull mass enemies that remind me of DF: Black Hawk Down and one of the most bizarre design decisions I have seen in a long time. Someone thought that I would enjoy mashing the space bar or mashing E and the left mouse button to stimulate some events instead of using..erm..skill. Its like playing Dragon's Lair, mashing the button and watching Dirk act out some event over which you have barely any control. Weird..

Overall I am disappointed. If you want more BF2 you might feel that although this looks good it is still a bit light, a bit arcadey and insubstantial. If you want more BC2 then wait for Bad Company 3 (if it is on the cards).

The multiplayer gameplay and graphics are amazing, the best I have seen in any game, but these are worthless if the game takes 10 tries to join a server, and crashes occur frequently. This game also has the unique ability to "generate" crashes based on calendar dates. Your machine can be sitting idle and one day it would have no crashes, and the next it might generate a cool crash, and some time later, a new unique crash would occur. This program has expanded my computer knowledge by showing me legendary-pokemon-rarity crashes of great magnitudes of awe and amazement. I am truly blessed to witness a failure in such unmatched proportions.

On top of this, the amount of security clearance required to run the game is ridiculous. You must disable antivirus for battlelog to work and lower User Control Settings lowest to stop any potential crashes, and despite all this, the game's ability to generate crashes prevails. I have not spent more time "fixing" a game than this one.

All in all, the game is a good, but before you purchase it, you need to assess your risk. There is a high risk that your machine will not run the game, or will run the game, but crash out frequently. You also run the risk of being hacked (unlikely, but very possible). If your machine runs the game fine, then the game would score a healthy 8-9/10, but if there is any technical difficulties (highly likely), that score would decrease to 0. Weighing into it the probability of technical difficulties, I give a 2.

Yes, Battlefield 3 will sell, and BF4 and BF5~ will sell, but this game lacks all the love and soul of its predecessors, and if I were a DICE developer, I would try to remember why I started making games in the first place.

Battlefield 3 is formulaic, gives the player no control over what they want to do, repeatedly puts you through ridiculous scripted events where your only goal is to "HIT E NOT TO DIE".

The SinglePlayer campaign is also ridiculously short. I started and finished it within the space of maybe 4 hours.

This is not a Battlefield game. Don't be mistaken by the title. This is a CoD clone. If you really love the way CoD is going, then you'll like this. If you want something that makes you feel alive to play it, look somewhere else.

I beseech you, DICE, next time scrap the SP campaign, and replace it with the AI version of multiplayer, as you had in BF1942 and others.

I have raised my review score to a 7 however. This is because I finally realised that BF3 is NOT a sequel to BF2. It's a sequel to Bad Company 2. In fact, apart from new weapons and maps, it's EXACTLY the same as Bad Company 2. Bad Company 2 was a fine game, but I was hoping for a real Battlefield game. That being said, Bad Company 3 is okay. They've screwed up the rush maps on the smaller ones (Grand Bizarre, Tehran Highway etc) where you don't really advance, you just move around the map.

Graphics are buggy, spawns are a bit whack, the UI is totally console based.

Not a bad game, but not what they claimed. Bad Company 3. Enjoy.

Battlefield 3 is all about visuals and forgetting the most important thing in an FPS game netcode and hit detection. Sure, other online FPS games have their share of problems when it comes to hit detection but never in my twenty five years of gaming have I seen such poor implementation of it. You will get one-shotted by a shotgun from 100+ meters away which is a huge stretch even for buck ammo and loose a chest to chest fire fight with an MG against a 9mm gun. You will also experience sudden deaths even a second or two after you've reached safe cover because the client-side hit detection system does a poor job of synchronizing what happens on both players sides the one that is shooting and the one that takes cover. How can anyone expect to play a fast action game like an FPS when what I am seeing is not what the other guy sees?

If it wasn't for this huge problem Battlefield 3 would probably get a score around 8/10 or even 9/10 but when you screw up such an important thing like hit detection in a game that is primarily meant to be played in multiplayer... Well.. 3/10 for me.

I enjoyed previous BF titles and was looking forward to getting my derriere kicked in this one too. However I do not pay £30+ for the privilege of EA giving me a digital cavity search. As long as spyware and ham-fisted installation procedures are compulsory with EA titles I'll take my business elsewhere.

    10. Character movement and feel is inferior to Call of Duty. It is heavy and very slow.

There's little to make up from this game and I don't care about how graphically insane it is. Unplayable is just unplayable.

This game does warrant a demo and try and buy, however, let me warn everyone their service is lousy and it took them 6 months plus to clean out Bad Company 2 and that started off better than BF3. BF3 started off way worse...be warned it maybe a year and a dead community before it can be considered clean.

Well. In short. We have official best game in history. singleplayer is like all other shooters around. Nothing special except too awesome graphics. Do not believe people comments that singleplayer is bad. It's just nothing special. I would not spend words about multiplayer because everybody know everything about that! Best gaming experience you may have! Period!

Look, I know this is a multiplayer game. I do. I understand that the singleplayer is little more than an extended tutorial. Did an hour of multiplayer and it was really great. But you put the crappy singleplayer in

Didn't live up to the hype. The graphics are sub-par and the controls are slow. Multiplayer is plagued by 12 year old girls. The UI makes me want to die.

Game simply doesn't work. Punkbuster kept kicking me until the game became unplayable. Lots of people have been experiencing the same thing and DICE refuse to/don't know how to fix it. It recently attempted to make me redownload 4GB of the game files for no reason, there hadn't even been an update released. I regret buying this game. First off you should know that this game launches on a 3rd party website. A website not a game, a website that keeps track of all your progress. A website not a game, a website that keeps track of all your progress. I bought this game, expecting to play a Battlefield game, yeah didn't happen. All you get is a sad singleplayer experience with a completely unfair, unbalance multiplayer. Where 90% you are outmatch simply because the opposite player has more equipment than you. There is so much customization that it completely destroys balance. Out of all the Battlefield games I've played, no, out of all the FPS multiplayers I've played this has to be the biggest pile of ridiculous I've been on. Where with previous Battlefield games destruction was a staple in the Battlefield diet it's now just a simple appetizer offering barely any destruction. With the ridiculous amount of customization, limited destruction, and huge maps where it would take hours to actually find any action you are left with just the spawn screen due to the incisive problem of camping. You thought it was bad in *insert game* you have no idea how bad it is in this game. You're expected to find someone prone on the ground in a bush on a map the size of Texas and only after you had to run 3 mile to a place just to get killed, sent back to GO, do not collect $200. Some people may argue "Oh you're not playing it right, be patient, don't leave your base", I bought this game for the action element in a First Person Shooter not a First Person Hide and Seek in a bush for 2 hours. Players on other FPS don't nearly camp this hard, not even in Modern Warfare! Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT waste your money on this game! There are plenty other brand new games coming out and if you were thinking about getting rid of Bad Company 2, DON'T!!! Bad Company 2's multiplayer game-play is 100x better than Battlefield 3. Expand

It's all a matter of taste, after all. They each provide a certain type of entertainment – when talking about Battlefield 3, it involves a bigger game, more open in its possibilities and more spectacular. But on a longer timeline, less frantic and with fewer Bruce Willis scenes than the mass appeal beast it set itself to dethrone.

No, Battlefield 3 is not the best game of today. But good looking – definitely. It also has an absolutely addictive multiplayer. Who needs more? [Dec 2011]

Both a triumphant leap forward and a return to form for the Battlefield series. This is the best multiplayer shooter on PC. [Christmas 2011, p.58]
