So i had high hopes for this game. At first i have to say i did not like the whole origin system, but the ability to keep on surfing the net till the moment i join the game is nice. Though i can't say the origin software does the game any favours.

The game looks incredible no matter what the settings. Now please keep in mind i bought this game purely for multiplayer at which time i have clocked about 20 hours.
The scale of combat is nothing short of amazing. I enjoy playing mainly the 64 player maps, both with and without vehicles.

Almost all the maps are thoroughly enjoyable. And with multiple play styles per map with different progression with the rush format. The sound effects of everything in the game is amazingly vivid and when the bullets and rockets go whizzing by you when you huddled in a corner with your vision blurred due to surpression fire, i don't think there is another game quite like it.

Can't say i have encountered many major bugs that ruined my experience. Occasionally there may be a piece of wall just floating in mid air because the rest of it got blown up. And there are the occasional play models who still look like their alive and standing up but they're actually dead.

My biggest gripe is i purchased 2x HD6950's for this game and found that no matter what i do (format/different drivers/no software install etc) the game seems to be incompatible with this game and will only allow me to play anywhere between 2 hr -5 mins before it crashes my whole system (usually the 5 mins occurs) i have given these cards to a friend to try out and am currently using a GTX580 and have no issues running it on ultra settings @ 1080.

What the game contains in multiplayer is solid and works great but as mentioned by a few other reviews , they have skipped some of the best features of the BF series (especially from bf2/2142) such as team commander and more specific orders for squad leaders. That would have to be my biggest disappointment with the actual gameplay.

Ive bought both BF3 for PC and MW3 for Xbox. MW3 wins to team death-match as BF3 is just too slow, however Rush and Conquest are brilliant. Its great to really work as a team instead of every man for themselves like in COD. Hours of fun. I can run everything in ultra on my GTX580 SOC no problems. There are a few bugs that can stop you from joining games or boot you from the session. And IIve bought both BF3 for PC and MW3 for Xbox. Love it, put nearly 200 hours into this game now, its not perfect, and I really wish DICE had put commander mode in again, but its still a great fun game to play with friends.

PT BR: Single player muito curto. Deveriam vender separadamente ambos os modos. Comprei um single player de 6 horas por 59 dólares??

The game looks astonishing however and the engine is by far and away the best looking game ever released it's just such a same that Dice never considered that people need to actually play a game while drooling at how pretty and shiny the world looks.
The key tactic to winning is to stay as far south as you can because anyone who isn't using night vision glasses (yes they block the sun out for some reason) won't be able to see anything as in this game everyone has cameras for eyes and despite being able to field millions of dollars of hardware apparently neither army can provide sun glasses... yes, the new feature in the engine is lens flare and dazzling so dice are determined to make you suffer as much as they possibly can.
Bringing us to the flash lights, quickly dubbed **** by the community, these were purely included for griefing reasons. They somehow manage to provide less light to the operators then the dim flashlights in left for dead yet anyone looking at them will have light blinding them with such intensity that they will feel like someone is trying to drill into their eyes to install their own personal supernova, you can inadvertently blind your own team if you forget to turn it off and might not even notice in anything but a pitch black room because the user sees 5 candle light yet observers see 2000000 candle power.
The game is very harsh and anyone new to the battlefield games is going to have a lot of deaths and frustrations but once again the game is fun and compelling proving the strength of the core ideas here.

Netcode is a little less buggy then previous games but still a long way from perfect.

The multiplayer is as near perfect as it gets. I personally can't figure out what i would add or take away from it.
The campaign on the other hand really needs some work. Bad Company 2's campaign wasn't that great either but the great graphics don't make up for the terrible mechanics. Fights get repetitive as enemy's seem to always have the same plan: SHOOT! HIDE! WAIT! SHOOT! DIE! A lot

Singleplayer: So singleplayer has never really been DICES strong point but they still manage to provide an enjoyable experience. Even though you can't topple as many buildings on your foes as you might like to driving a tank and reigning death in a fighter jet sure makes up for it. Overall singleplayer is an enjoyable that experience that for once has the Russians being on the good side!

Multiplayer: Lets face it this is why you bought Battlefield 3 and to be perfectly honest it's worth every single cent! Whether your a grunt leading the charge to assault the enemy with your M16 or the tank providing valuable heavy weapons support and toppling those pesky buildings with the MCOM stations inside. Battlefield 3's multiplayer has something for everyone. Unlike most other multiplayer focused games *cough* MW3 *cough* Battlefield relies on teamwork, whether its reviving your teammates to keep the ticket counter high or storming capture point B in Operation Metro teamwork is essential for success, no one man armies to be found here.

Other: Being a game as big as this means that glitches and problems are often found, you can still find the odd leg coming out of the wall, or the person half embedded in the rock, however the real downfall for this game is the crashing problems. This for me personally was only found in the multiplayer section but every 20 - 30mins the game would crash losing all my hard earned exp. however giving time and effort several fixes can be found.

Overall: A very enjoyable experience, singleplayer could be better but lets face it multiplayer more then makes up for it. The only downside to this game are the numerous crashing problems and people unfamiliar with how battlefield 3 is to be played e.g. People flying helicopters with no gunners or passengers. Singleplayer: 6/10, Enjoyable but could have been done better.
Multiplayer: 9/10, What makes a Battlefield game so damn good. Enjoyable through out can easily put hundreds of hours into this gane.

The game looks and plays great. There are some issues, but there seems to be with any of the releases these day. They'll get addressed after a patch cycle or two. The game feels like a return to the days of 1942 and BF2. I've not had any desire to play the single player so I'll not even reference. Battlefield started out as a multi-player franchise, they should just let it stand at that.

I am loving this game! With the obvious exception of the single player campaign. There are a few things that have made me give it an 8/10. These are: Can't seem to get the graphics the same as the adverts! Everything is on highest with a DX11 card, yet it still doesn't look as good as supposed in game footage (from the alpha albeit)

Quite a few bugs, such as people sinking into the ground

My biggest grievance is the random disconnections! I have scoured many a forum looking for the answer to this, but every fix doesn't seem to work for me. I don't think its a problem with ISP so going to just hang back for a patch.

But this game is very demanding, i mean you need to have a very good PC to be able to play it at it's best, which kills some fun of it but no matter it is still fun to run with an RPG and shoot a hole into a building. Multiplayer is where this game shines the most. Apart from some server being laggy, or the dreaded 64-man Metro Conquest, there is only fun to be had. With a myriad of different weapon and gadget unlocks, there is quite a bit of ways you could play each class. I only wish they would've added in-game squad chat for those times where you are stuck with someone you don't know. Dice never ceases to amaze me with their battlefield products and this is no exception. I've been playing battlefield games since 1942 was released and have always enjoyed that the development team actually DEVELOPS their game instead of using the same engine over and over with prettier lighting or slightly tweaking guns to reproduce ones used in previous games (HINT: Call of Duty). EvenDice never ceases to amaze me with their battlefield products and this is no exception. I've been playing battlefield games since 1942 was released and have always enjoyed that the development team actually DEVELOPS their game instead of using the same engine over and over with prettier lighting or slightly tweaking guns to reproduce ones used in previous games (HINT: Call of Duty). Even though it has the Frostbite 2 engine, many of the buildings on urban based maps are static and inaccessible in anyway, but the ones that are, you can completely strip away the benefits of planting your four man squad in it and force your enemy to fight in the open instead of camping in a limited access area. I was still a little disappointed in the static environments though versus Bad Company 2 where you can make a completely new path by blowing out a hole in a building, running through it, and making another hole with your trusty grenade launcher in order to bypass tanks or dug in troops. There are still plenty of destructible buildings that you can drop on top of a not so bright enemy's head and many of the walls you use for cover and be chipped away with concentrated fire or a good ol' RPG. The infantry only maps are a lot more team based and bring back that tactical feeling from Battlefield 2 that Bad Company 2 left out with narrow choke points or large areas littered with lots of cover spots that a sneaky squad can navigate and snag a capture point right under the enemy's nose if you don't have a group watching over it. The vehicle combat is more or less the same as in Bad Company 2, but choppers are a helluva lot more powerful (even though they're still missile magnets) and the jets have more of a knife fighting, gun slinging, cut throat battlefield 1942 feeling instead of the "I got on your tail so you're automatically dead" combat from Battlefield 2. The open maps still give that sense of random happenings that you get from Battlefield games that just make it so much more enjoyable to play over the "run in and control this area to win" combat you see with most shooters today. I think Dice could've done better with the single player development though. There were parts that got your attention or made you feel like you were in that situation yourself, but the musical score is rather pathetic in variety and you can pretty much predict which tune will play at what time and in what situation after the first couple of levels. I'm not saying the solo campaign wasn't exciting, but they could've done much better on it. Overall, Battlefield 3 is worth every penny you spend on it even though the weapon unlocks is a little repetitive and the first release version is a little buggy with battlelog and it not liking running with certain programs (for me it's xfire, Battlefield 3 wont even start while I'm running it). The single-player campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series will probably always be better, that's something they've always done well. But as far as multiplayer (which in my humble opinion is where the replay value is), Call of Duty will never hold a candle to the Battlefield series. As with all major Battlefield releases (1942, 2, & 3), these multiplayer maps are massive and deep in complexity. Between the primary weapons, utilities, tanks, vehicles, and aircraft you could literally spend months unlocking and upgrading even if you played everyday! There is so much to do here, it's one of the few games that I can justify the $60 price tag on, because I know not only will reaching my goals take time but I'll enjoy doing it along the way. One thing to remember when playing any Battlefield game is that this is not a Call of Duty style multiplayer game. The maps are 10x as large, the Objectives are more important than Kill #'s, running and gunning will most likely get you killed, and team work is rewarded. You'll need to adjust your weapons from map to map, and think about what you're doing instead of running into battle gung-ho. Over time, you will become a better player and adjust by learning the maps and tactics used by other players. It's an extremely rewarding experience for anyone looking for a multiplayer first person shooter that will be fun for more than a month. There are downfalls of course, the single-player experience while better than anything prior still falls way short of our expectations (especially after watching the trailers). Also the web style menu interface is horrendous and should have never been adopted in the first place. Disconnects are rare, but connecting to a server can sometimes be a challenging and getting server lists with proper ping read-outs can require restarts occasionally. While the former is permanent, the later should be fixed with future updates and is not of particular concern in most circumstances. If you're looking for a game you can jump into and start annihilating your foes immediately, Modern Warfare 3 is probably for you. If however, you're looking for a game with a more rewarding long term experience, team work oriented game play, and meaningful tactics and objectives. Skip Modern Warfare 3 and go right for Battlefield 3! Expand

This is a post release review, so I shall not mention the many problems with the PC version or service right off the bat.
First, the singleplayer. This was a great display of visuals, no matter your graphic settings for your PC. Storyline, wasn't quite what I'd consider great, maybe decent, tops. This was mostly due to you playing an on rail shooter. But the visuals, they are great, but

First, the singleplayer. This was a great display of visuals, no matter your graphic settings for your PC. Storyline, wasn't quite what I'd consider great, maybe decent, tops. This was mostly due to you playing an on rail shooter. But the visuals, they are great, but singleplayer feels like it was only meant to show off the Frostbite 2 engine, which they did very well on, but the storyline obviously suffered due to the focus on that. Overall, it's pretty, but for the same looks, and much more interactive, go online. Second, the Co-Op. The Co-Op was fun, but very short-lived. With only 6 short missions, there wasn't much meat to it. If anything, I wanted to know more about these individual missions, and the complete storyline behind the characters, especially at the end mission. This left me wanting more, and I really do hope there is, because it was fun, though short. The only challenge is really on Hard mode, Normal should be the Easy mode, Hard switched with Normal, and then Hard the ungodly difficult mission mode. It was fun, though, to try and get through all of them without dying. The biggest challenge with that is the glitch[?] where an enemy will knife you like he has the commando perk from CoD. And without warning, either. Third, the multiplayer. This is what you should be buying this game for. If not, you're wasting your money. The multiplayer can feel cheap at times with enemy mortar or vehicles, or simply a bad team. But it's gorgeous to watch and be a part of. To see a complete different scene on every map, on every side, on every game mode, is amazing. They included conquest, conquest large [2 extra objectives, or at least 1 extra from conquest], rush [demolition, plant bombs, you move through the map], and then team deathmatch, along with one squad of four only versions of rush and team deathmatch.
Overall, I gave this game an eight because of the co-op shortlived, bad singleplayer, and amazing multiplayer. Don't buy if you're playing alone, but online, it is quite something.

It's all a matter of taste, after all. They each provide a certain type of entertainment – when talking about Battlefield 3, it involves a bigger game, more open in its possibilities and more spectacular. But on a longer timeline, less frantic and with fewer Bruce Willis scenes than the mass appeal beast it set itself to dethrone.

No, Battlefield 3 is not the best game of today. But good looking – definitely. It also has an absolutely addictive multiplayer. Who needs more? [Dec 2011]

Both a triumphant leap forward and a return to form for the Battlefield series. This is the best multiplayer shooter on PC. [Christmas 2011, p.58]
