I did not pre-order this and I am glad I didn't. I will never pre-order any game so long as this garbage is acceptable to people. This is an outrage. If they spent 30% less on advertising, and spent it on QA instead, they might have a legacy, or a name to go on. The Integrity of the market is dead. You won't see another dollar from me until this ends. Buggy, half-assed PC port? How bout I just wait for this to go on sale 6 months from now for $5.99 on steam. At the moment, you'd have to pay me to play through this game in its current sorry state.

You have the audacity to RELEASE a "final" version in this state at $59.99? Oh hell no. Pass on this if you work for your money. If you make money from dividends on stocks and have never seen the inside of a 9-5, go ahead and blow the 60 dollars on a game you cant even really play. It's your money.

This game might be a good game, im not really sure since i wasn't able to play the game at a frame rate higher than 25 fps due to the terrible PC port. It kills me that the port is this bad, Arkham Asylum and City are two of my favorite games, and i was really excited to play this game. I will revise my review if the new PC patch is able to actually make the game playable.

I don't understand how people ask for reviews to be held back for patches and then review. Since when are games judged by unannounced patches that might take 1-2 months to fix the issues they have? Games always have and always will be reviewed by their state at release.

The truth of the matter is that they screwed up BIG TIME. They outsourced the PC port to "external partners" and they didn't even bother to mention it to their customers and they also changed the system requirements previous day of release.

The game is locked at 30fps, the textures are just plain bad in a lot of areas, the gameworks settings do absolutely nothing to the graphics, lights are flickering and the fps drops to mid 20s or even worse all the time. PC running the game, i7 4790K, GTX 970, 16gigs RAM and game is on an SSD.

Truly disappointed, this could be the new worst PC port in existence.

Rocksteady have lied, deceived and delivered a shambolic excuse of a game thanks to essentially offloading the product that people have invested heavily in, to a dreadful 3rd party company; Iron Galaxy.

The game runs abysmally throughout with regular stutters in regards to framerate and audio on rigs that surpass even the recommended settings. The 30fps cap is a travesty for 2015 and even with framerate unlocked after modding the config file; the game still persistently wobbles. Visually, the game looks worse than the PS4 version which is beyond belief and the optimisation settings are virtually non-existent just to improve what is seemingly an old-gen title. The game even suggests to turn off many aspects to 'improve the performance' in the graphics menu which is ridiculous.

Rocksteady's credibility has extinguished. It feels they couldn't even be bothered to make the PC version so they passed the buck onto a small and very weak company to do their dirty work. The fact people have bought the game with the season pass at a cost of £60 should demand the utmost care and attention but the 'developers' have given PC gamers the middle finger which is disgraceful behaviour and a complete disregard for an important market. Thank god Steam have the refund facility in place and Rocksteady will get their just-deserts in the end. Another AAA atrocity that isn't even worth holding onto for the patch. Despicable.

Well, the Batman game franchise has become a bloated cash-cow, risk free game design makes for a pretty predictable experience...if you are new to the series you may garner enjoyment from it, but for me the format has become too stale even with the Batmobile shoehorned into the proceedings. Batman is in dire need of a clean slate.

There is no excuse for this. They have the money, they just chose the lazy route of not testing their software before release. I've had a decent amount of faith in Warner Bros as a game publishing company over the years but this really leaves a bad taste in my mouth and makes me question whether or not I should invest in their products in the future. Also, the fact that they put more work into their console versions just annoys the crap out of me. I'm sorry to say, but PC gaming is rapidly becoming something people would rather invest in than console gaming because while we may have to wait a while on the PC side of things, at least, for the most part, we get the better version. This makes me kinda want to get a console just to play the less terrible version of this game, but I refuse to sell out to consoles just to play a game that should be ACTUALLY working on the system it was released on (PC in this case). Anyway, don't bother with PC if you have a console. Just get the console version and save yourself the frustration. Expand

Would you pay to take your family to the cinema and say nothing when the film starts stuttering and cutting out? Would you accept it if some prat stood up and shouted, "but it's only been out 24 hours, give the film makers a chance"? Would you find it acceptable when the manager of the cinema stated that the film was currently being looked at and should be fixed within a month or two? Would you happily sit and wait indefinitely while the cinema keep hold of your money?

If you answered 'yes' to any of the above, then you're part of the problem, the problem of why the games industry release unfinished games and then, maybe, fix them.

This game, like PCARS, is unfinished and should not be for sale until completed. When a 4770K @ 4.4Ghz / 980Ti / 8GB 2400Mhz RAM can't run a mediocre looking game smoothly, there's a problem.

They were responsible for the broken PC version of Arkham Origins and responsible for the poor optimization of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection on XBO and PS4.

So here we are again, with Rocksteady handing off their BIGGEST IP to a studio utterly incapable of handling the work, resulting in a really bad port with performance problems, frequent crashes, terrible memory optimization, hard capped frames per second, texture bugs, and other issues. Rocksteady and WB have said they're aware of the problems and are supposedly working on getting them sorted but bear in mind they said similar things about the problems with Arkham Origins, most of which STILL exist.

I'm just thankful it was a freebie for picking up a newer nVidia card. Had I paid for this by itself, I'd be absolutely livid. I honestly don't know why I expected better, most AAA devs could give less than a damn about PC gamers, as we've repeatedly seen this generation (Watch Dogs, Titanfall, DeadRising 3, Ryse, Assassin's Creed, and now Batman, just to name a few).

So, I cancelled my PS4 pre-order and bought the complete PC title assuming it would also work well. It doesn't.. you've heard all the details so I'll just say that my system is probably mid-range, i5 2500k overclocked, gtx 680 2gb + 8GB ram.. I can't play it at 720p on all low/off.. it just is too slow and stops and stutters to be playable. It's pretty obvious there was a big deception going on with the Nvidia videos showing great gameplay at high frames, and no one obviously thinking that the PC version was AAA quality at this rate, so they pulled a fast one and delivered a poor product. Hopefully in a few months it will be playable.. until then if you want it get it on a console but I don't advise anyone to buy it on PC.. Disappointed. Zero. Expand

What a garbage port. I got this for free for buying an Nvidia GTX 970 and very much looked forward to playing it as I greatly enjoyed the first two games. However, it is unplayable on my pc. 30fps is not acceptable for games anymore, and it won't work on anything higher. I wish I could get a refund on part of my GTX 970 purchase due to the game being awful.

This console port is a mess and needs to be fixed. Until then, zero points.
You can't even disable the excessive motion blur because there is no real graphic options menu.
It's capped at 30 fps and the only way to fix this is to change the INI file manually. For me it runs acceptable though but that doesn't change that it is still a mess. DO NOT BUY IT ...unless you know exactly

This game has this, but I never really felt like that super cool Bat in the dark type feeling. That's what the first game nailed so well, you were Batman. This game relies too heavily on awful tank battles. Nearly every notable boss battle was in the Bat-Tank. Really disappointing because one of the strong suits of the previous two games was the intuitive and really cool boss fights. This game makes the boss fights probably the least fun part of the game, when it used to be one of the strongest aspects. I mean, you fight Deathstroke in a tank. Deathstroke, the world's greatest assassin, uses a freaking tank to fight Batman. Pretty lame if you ask me. Get it on sale if you want, it's an okay end to the series. Oh and don't you dare buy the season pass. Absolutely awful. Some of the worst DLCs I've ever seen. Expand

To get away from being locked at 30fps I have had to edit an ini file. Seriously...

Specs upped at the last minute, while they don't affect me I can see no reason why this is necessary as you can't even select anything beyond 'Normal' textures in the graphics options.

Poor AMD owners, again short changed with reported performance problems on release.

Combat is simply a case of mashing the left mouse button while Batman flies around a 20-30m radius dishing out the weakest feeling punches 90% of the time with the occasional press of the space bar to dodge a charging enemy. Even with 7-8 enemies all carrying guns not one thought to fire at me. Next gen indeed!

Batmobile sections are terrible, it's handling is awful and the stutters to game play are annoying.

I am unable to change the mouse sensitivity in the menu at all, it's far too sensitive to my tastes right now.

I really can't recommend this game right now, even getting it for free it's yet another sub standard release, what looks to be a direct port from consoles with nothing extra for the PC gamer, except the performance issues.

Why why why are we missing ambient occlusion and rain textures that the console versions have?!

Originally I said to wait for patching or a Steam sale where this might be a price more befitting of it's caliber but now, after seeing more of the truth come to light, like the fact this was farmed out to a company to port to PC who usually make crap mobile games & the DRM, I don't feel buying this game helps us as the end user in gaming one bit. boycotting rubbish like this is the best we can do to stop it happening again in the future.

Over the years there has obviously been a number of controversial instances of certain games being absolutely slammed at launch by users. While I have certainly been disappointed by the state of certain games at launch, Batman: Arkham Knight has seemingly set a new precedence for poor quality control. WB Games and Rocksteady haven't just lowered the bar, they've essentially set it into free fall. As a result I finally felt the need to sign up to metacritic to put my opinion out as well.

The alarm bells began ringing when on the night before release, the minimum system requirements were updated for AMD users. Fortunately beign an Nvidia user this did not affect me, though I was already questioning what would happen with AMD users that had preordered the game and had initially met the minimum requirements but did not meet these updated requirements. This was already a totally unacceptable step on the part of Rocksteady/Warner Bros.

Despite the strong criticism the game was already receiving, I decided not to judge until I had played it myself. While my PC didn't quite meet all of the recommended requirements, I more than passed the minimum requirements and had been able to run both The Witcher 3 and GTA V at high settings with an average FPS over 30. As a result, hearing that the game was capped at 30FPS did not concern me greatly, but when I learned there was no proper method of removing this cap without editing the game files, I again was amazed at the lack of consideration that had gone into making this port.

Due to the storage requirements for the game I left the Steam download running while at work, and on two occasions I came back to find that upon completion, the download had just restarted itself. I am not sure whether this particular point can be blamed on Rocksteady or Steam, but in 10 years of using Steam as a platform I have never encountered this issue before.

Having finally managed to start the game I immediately adjusted my settings to match those recommended for computers only meeting the minimum requirements. I was a little surprised to find that on the lowest settings and with all gameworks options disabled, I was still only averaging just over 30FPS with notable stuttering issues and seemingly random drops in framerate. On a whim I changed all the settings to their highest and restarted the game only to find that my average FPS only dropped but 3 or 4, with all the previous issues still present.

At this point the game is PROBABLY in a playable state, but not the kind of state a AAA game that has already been delayed by 8 months should be in. In all honesty these optimization issues make the game feel more like it is still in development and the experience is not wholly different to an Early-Access game on Steam. Graphically the game is less impressive than other games released in 2015, and even with its own optimization issues, the vastly bigger Witcher 3 still outperforms Arkham Knight by leagues.

I cannot fathom how a product with such a large budget and reasonably long development time could be released in such a state on one of only three platforms. It has now been confirmed that Rocksteady outsourced the development of the PC version to Iron Galaxy, the same studio behind the similarly problematic launch of the PC version of Arkham Origins. While I can understand the need for outsourcing, I do not understand how such a poorly polished product could ever have passed QA and testing.

There appears to be a worrying precedence now to release poorly optimized, borderline unfinished PC ports. While a delay in the PC release would have been irritating, I cannot fathom the fallout being anywhere near as bad as what has occurred at this point. I can understand the difficulty in making a game run well across the huge range of PC hardware out there, but to sell this as a finished product is truly unacceptable. It's about time developers began to take PC more seriously as a platform, or just stop developing multiplatform titles for PC altogether if the release version does not come close to matching the console counterparts.

This game is awful in its current state. Hopefully they patch it to fix it, but the way they are talking to the community it's our fault for not having "good enough" computers. I also guess these high-end computers aren't as good as consoles either. The PC version is missing textures and effects.

On foot I'm lucky to get 30fps, get into the Batmobile and the game becomes a slideshow

Before I go on: I am very well aware that a lot of people are still having trouble with the game. Yes, it was one of the worst game launches in a long time, shouldn't have happened that way. However, I will not let that influence my rating, as the review and rating are based on the way the game works TODAY (for me), and the game itself. I didn't get the game until September or so, and it worked perfectly well almost immediately

I do have an i7-4790, 16 gigs of Ram, a GTX 960 with 4 gigs of Ram, using the settings suggested by GForce experience.

After the patches/fixes that have been released (today's the 7th of Nov), the game works absolutely fine for me, no reasons to complain. The performance is great, no frame rate issues at all.

Gotham looks beautiful, and I love the atmosphere of the game. Basically, it's another No Man's Land type situation, which kinda makes sense because otherwise, you'd run over citizens by the hundreds in your batmobile.
Which leads me to the biggest innovation of AK, the batmobile/battank.

I admit it is fun to race around Gotham in that thing. Driving is nice, the thing is pretty tough, like a tank, so you can run into walls etc, destroy fences etc. In battle-mode, there are some nice tricks you can do, and the controls are totally different. It somehow reminds me of that DaVinci-tank in AC: Brotherhood... and I wonder whether the handling and "style" of the battle mode was inspired by this.

Melee is fun as well, blocking works great, so do special combos. Eventually, you will need to use them to handle enemies with stun batons, shields, swords etc. It can be rough, but I never thought it was unfair. In some cases, like bank robberies, you should approach it tactically.

The boss fights are fun as well. They can be rough, but again, not unfair. Yes, it took me quite some time to take out the Arkham Knight's imba vehicles, but boy, was it satisfying.

Where the game absolutely SHINES is atmosphere and writing. I love the story. I am sure most of you know the big reveals in the game, but still, I'll try not to mention them. The state Batman is in, which kinda makes it harder for him, is extremely well done (with a certain villain talking to you a lot), and the end of that state is TOTALLY great.
There are some very very cool throwbacks to "A Death In The Family", which, to me as a fan of the comics, was a very special treat.

There are some very surprising twists in the story, not only the two big reveals I mentioned. Up until the very end, I felt entertained, and I thoroughly enjoyed the story and working my way through it...the boss fights were harrowing, but ultimately satisfying.

Now, for the negative parts (IMO):
    - There is too much focus on using the mobile. Yes, I can understand they put a lot of work into the mobile, but it felt TOO much... fighting gazillions of drones, driving around, having to find ways of getting your batmobile into a certain area or building to use it to progress... it is ok, but I wish they had cut the amount of driving, drone fighting and "need to find a way to get the mobile in here" by about 30-40%. YMMV

    - The "after death teases". They are part of the series, sure, but they eventually got more than frustrating. They were tiring, especially with stuff like the Riddler challenges (races, riddles, etc.) which I didn't enjoy at all.

    - The ending of the game, IMO, ROCKED; but... I didn't like the fact you have to complete ALL of the side-stuff in order to see the ultimate ending (Knightfall protocol). I loved playing the main-storyline, but when I realized I still had to finish ALL the side stuff to see that final part, I didn't like it. It DOES make sense that you need to do all that, considering what Knightfall is, but... I LIKED the fact that I didn't HAVE to do all the side stuff. Some of them were fun, but I liked that I had the freedom to leave out some of them. However, if you want to see the final ending, you will have to.
I wouldn't mind this, if not for the final, very frustrating Riddler challenge. I thought that some of his challenges (hint: glide and final race) were WAY harder than anything I had to do in the main-storyline. Add his very repetitve teasing and ridicule, it kinda sucks the fun out of stuff

    So, PROs:

    - GREAT storyline
    - Some killer twists and surprises in the story (even without the Arkham Knight stuff, which at some point became predictable)
    - Great atmosphere
    - Graphics
    - Sound/Music
    - Some of the Batmobile related stuff
    - New gadgets and moves
    - Appearance of some lesser known villains, sometimes in a surprising way
    - Duo fights...a ton of fun. they could have put in more of that, but thats a minor complaint

    Cons:
    - Too much batmobile (way too much)
    - Need to do every single side-quest to get the final ending
    - Riddler challenges..frustrating,not fun

Эта игра хуже, чем Unity. Такого кривого порта я в жизни не видел. Я не представляю, как можно было так подводить игроков, которые платили честно заработанные деньги на сырую и не готовую поделку. Не знаю, чем мы заслужили эту кару. Glad I didn't buy this game. I'm adding my "review" here to bring this game's Metascore down. More negative reviews should hopefully serve as a sufficient warning. Even though I haven't tried this game, I think everyone that bought the game on Steam should refund the game before the 2 hour limit. DO NOT PAY FOR UNFINISHED GAMES AND POOR PORTS!! DO NOT RATE GAMES ON POTENTIAL!

Warner Brothers seems to keep vying with EA and some others for worst publisher in existence. The amount of content cut from this game and repackaged through DLC, season passes, pre-orders, etc is absolutely sickening.

Excessive Pre-Order exclusive garbage (so no one can actually !buy! the full game), gameworks and on top a terrible pc port. Not only is it locked to 30 fps, it has also worse graphics than ps4 on a pc and runs like crap. This game is horrible and the studio should get punished for this. No one should every buy this!

Wow! Who would have thought such poor optimization would be possible for a company with such a decent track record. I am thinking the PC version did not get a lot of attention obviously.

Batman is an amazing game, since the first (Asylum Arkham) and because that I bought on pre order. I have a geforce gtx 970 and hd ssd. I can say is enough to run without many problems, EXCEPT to play with batmobile...I wished to play since ever with batmobile man! A zero score, not for being a bad game (although I have not played) but the treatment to be given to PC users.

Batman's armor, face, and cape get more damaged as the story progresses. Raindrops land on and stream down your cowl. They use this cool camera trick a lot where things (or even entire rooms) change when they're just out of view. When Batman starts losing his mind at one point in the story the game does a lot of little fun things to mess with you. Nothing extreme like pretending the game is crashing like they did in a previous game, but stuff like billboards changing subtly after you look away. The combat is just as great as ever, with even more animations added. The batmobile has been a debated feature but I like it, it adds a lot to the game including new mechanics to be used in puzzles. Speaking of puzzles, there are a lot of them. 243. The Riddler has a lot of free time. Expand

Playing as Batman? Awesome. Playing as Batman through repetitive, empty missions? Less awesome. Playing as the Batmobile? Awful.

Porting issues aside, Batman: Arkham Knight is a decent enough game. It's not the spectacular swansong we hoped for from Rocksteady, but it's another solid - if predictable - slice of Arkham gameplay, with a couple of great sections along the way.

An entertaining superhero power fantasy, let down by awful Batmobile combat, a laughable villain, and serious performance issues.
