This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Asterigos was a fun game. The story was interesting. It touch immortality and slavery. I though the theme of immortality wasn't explored enough. No real humour in here. There is fast travel but it is given too late in the game, and that was an odd decision on how it was given. It makes some items completely useless. There was many secrets, I have unlock some of them but the side quests system and navigation makes thing difficult to complete.

The combat is smooth but then, I only develop two weapons to the max. In that aspect, the upgrade system is really based on the weapons and elemental powers. I don't recommend you try to level everything. The graphics are pretty cool. I think the design of levels however, were way too complicated. It is hard in the first levels to know where to go. When Minerva gives you a second sets of 4 missions, I had to look on the internet on how to get to those areas. So, the game does a poor job at that. The music was good. Sounds effects were decent. I give it 72%. If it wasn't for the hurdle and pain of navigating certain levels, the game was fun to explore and play (with a controller). The ending was good, but it finish with 2d slides...like they didn't have the time to finish it. That was abrupt and surprising in the wrong way.

This is not souls like, and combat doesn't feel good or responsive.
There isn't really many things to praise in this game, exploration is not compelling, story and narrative may be the best things but yet not that good.
This is an indie game, so one should set expectations accordingly, otherwise it will be frustrating experience.

The game didn't interest me. Everything is very monotonous and primitive. The controls and combat in the game are terrible.

    the game is alright

the gameplay and fluidity of the weapon swapping are great but that is about it the story is alright nothing you havent seen before but certainly not AAA material or even AA the worst thing about the game is you have to go to a loading screen go up to the storage chick to get any items you have used so far and than go back through another loading screen

this is simply unacceptable and there should be no reason to not just fill up your items on death instead of this horrible system and I'm willing to say whoever thought this was a good idea should be fired/never work in gaming again

before you say "git good" everything isn't very hard and its actually quite easy at times but stiff movements from enemies and walking mundane like towards you while also being janky as hell is not a good way to make a game

Great aesthetic, artstyle, and soundtrack, marred by lackluster Souls-inspired combat that leans more on the forgiving side but also ends up showing that you instead are your own worst enemy in a world as bland and uninspiring as your entire arsenal. Combat is a mix of smooth and clunky, which translates to mostly clunky that has the camera and egregious input lag constantly sabotaging you. Two weapons + comboing + skills and perks sound great on paper, but in reality every single weapon outside of their unique mechanic/technique and a few of their specials reeks of boring and uninspired. Every attack combination is wholeheartedly inconsequential, and offers nothing to personalize or spice up your combat gameplay outside of showing you that some of the game budget went into varied animations, and that they also deal some damage, and that's about it. Hitboxes can also be a bit wonky at times, leading to unintentional difficulty spikes especially in boss fights where I couldn't help but just chuckle at how ending up on the resting ass end of an swung axe still dealt full damage -- or even standing behind them!

All in all, good effort from what appears to be a new studio, and there are far, far, far worse games you can make to start your studio off with. Is it worth buying? I would say so; give it a try if you can get it as a discount -- that's right, at a discount to the already admittedly discount entry level price. Otherwise, don't bother.

Pretty solid TPP action RPG game with lite Souls elements. It's very accessible and fairy easy compared to some others Soulslike game. Combat is not bad and level design is pretty good. But its just lack some depth both in the story and gameplay.

For what is the debut creation of a small indie studio, Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is quite the impressive feat, and the team behind it should be proud of what has been accomplished here. A very good video game, however, this is not. Combat and generally the controls are good, the developer worked really hard to provide tons of world building, the whole thing looks pretty, and everything works as intended…but it’s just not that exciting. Almost everything on offer here sits exactly in the middle of the fun factor spectrum. It’s an okay game that lasts about 40 hours.

While Asterigos has excellent graphics and music, basic elements like the combat system feel cheap, making the package as a whole feel like an unbalanced Soulsborne title.

Asterigos has a great world design and a combat system that is similar to the Souls series, while being faster and more action-oriented. It's just the exploration elements that let the game down, as the city of Aphes can sometimes feel a little too empty for its own good, and its residents a little too verbose. Those who don't mind backtracking and skipping dialogue should be able to see through the muddy parts and enjoy Asterigos' finer points.
