Making maps bigger is called progress. Just like Rockstar did with grand theft auto series or RDR. People who want small, one city games are stuck in the past.

From sound to gameplay to world design to graphics this game is just amazing. Very obvious nominee for the game awards 2020.

I think this is the best the AC-RPG combination could offers in term of gameplay and plot-wise. The combat feel more grounded now and while for most of the time it still feel very easy there are some occasion where it requires patience and precision. The enemies are less spongy and there are more variations than just the classic warrior-archer archetype. The enemies are less spongy and there are more variations than just the classic warrior-archer archetype. But, I gotta say the strong point for Valhalla, aside the combat and hidden blade return, is the story but it takes a while for it to come together, so I understand why some people feel bored and I don't blame them this is something that Ubisoft has to work on for the next installment. If you're a long-time fan and despise the new RPG style I won't recommend this game but I do encourage you to check the first civilization, Aelfred and modern setting story! It explains a lot of things that we don't quite understand in the pre-RPG AC games. Expand

It's nice game anyway, but here's a 10/10 just to annoy all the haters as much as possible.

One of the best in AC series and i have been fan over 7 years. Pretty sure people who leave extremely low scores are just unhappy, empty people. Whatever. It's solid 9/10 game, but if some people can leave 0's then i can leave 10.

The game forces you to buy a video card that supports DX 12.
No refunds for those who pre-ordered the game but have no such a card.
The support ignore opened cases for days.

Overall people really can't hate this game, even if they want to. They can whine that it's maybe too long for their taste or whatever else they can come up with, but in the end it's good game that has solid writing and character, absolutely beautiful open world and no whining or complaining will change that.

Huge game world with two big maps to explore and discover. Story is mostly very good, characters are actually interesting, unlike in last game. Performance could be better, hopefully will be patched, but it's perfectly playable on all systems. Graphically stunning.
100% will be one of the Nominees @ The Game Awards 2020.

Summary. Decent game - but spongey controls and a game style far removed from AC. This is a game for people who like War for Middle Earth or similar. It's a mass melee combat game with very little left of the original AC formula. Bows are nerfed, assassinate opportunities are VERY rare and far between. Double wield axes and go in roaring or don't bother playing at all.

In terms of stealth, assassination and the efficiency of bow combat this is a HUGE step down from even Odyssey and Origins - which themselves were huge steps down from the first few games.

Having played every Assassins Creed game. Most to the end. Some several times. This one looks pretty good but the combat on PC using M+K is spongy and inaccurate.
Firstly, stealth and traditional assassin gameplay is an option for maybe 20% of the game. At most.
If you want to that - don't buy this game. Whereas Odyssey had a little less in the way of stealth than Origins and Origins about the same as Syndicate.
This has a TON less than any AC game I've played (And as I said I've played all of them extensively).
It just isn't an option for most of e game.
This is far more like a game like War for Middle Earth. All about mass melee combat (even bows are VERY seriously nerfed)
That might be Ok if the melee combat wasn't also pretty weak compared with previous games.
Sometimes you can't block, often the knockback on foes does not work, there is a palpable delay between pressing the button and the action taking place. It doesn't feel right at all.
I've loaded up Origins and Odyssey for comparison ad they are both spot on. Valhalla's combat really does feel spongey, delayed and inaccurate.
This is not a game for traditional AC fans. This is a hack and slash game with more in common with Diablo than e legacy of AC. What with that and the really poor feel of controls, this is probably the last AC game I will buy.

Good lord where do i start. First off the game really is obviously rushed to the point of maybe 70 percent finished. Your story arc so unengaging you almost get lost .Add in the no levels which is not a game enhancement it seems it was a development cost thing it makes progression horrible. It is painfully obvious from looking at Ubi softs forums the game is not matching up with the paid rag reviews . how meta critic is giving this an 8.0 after Odyssey is mind blowing. Developers should strive to make their franchise better not 2 steps down in all directions. this was an obvious cash grab on the success of Odyssey . this franchise has been ruined for me if i could get a refund i would . I was expecting a slight improvement compared to Odyssey, we know what its flaws were, but the game surprised me, it exceeded my expectations, I find it interesting how they changed the gameplay of the character, I expected the same feeling when handling it as in Odyssey, but it feels heavier, more organic, looking a little more like Red Dead Redemption 2, it took me a bit to adapt butI was expecting a slight improvement compared to Odyssey, we know what its flaws were, but the game surprised me, it exceeded my expectations, I find it interesting how they changed the gameplay of the character, I expected the same feeling when handling it as in Odyssey, but it feels heavier, more organic, looking a little more like Red Dead Redemption 2, it took me a bit to adapt but after a while I ended up liking it, regarding the fights I also expected something very similar, and although visually it is very similar, when playing it it feels more real, it was a good improvement, on the other hand I like graphically although I do not feel it has improved much compared to the Odyssey, although I am surprised by the optimization, I can rarely play with the highest quality in AAA games and in this case I could , and it runs perfectly. Regarding the audio, I like it, it adds a lot to the atmosphere. In conclusion I give it a 9 because they are improving it but still does not have the quality of Red Dead Redemption 2, but I think they are on the right track. Expand

I have played many good games and it might be me personal preference, but i haven't enjoyed any game this much in at least 3 years. There's just something about Valhalla that stands out to me. Maybe it's just this snowy atmosphere of Norway or something idk, but i really like it.

Finally something good to play before cyberpunk 2077 comes out. 2020 has been so lackluster of decent games, only ones that come to mind are final fantasy vii remake and doom eternal and doom eternal wasn't best imo.

On youtube there's 100 000s of views on AC Valhalla videos, but these people clearly don't visit this site and i don't blame them. Even just RDR2 pc version user score 5.5 is pathetic and doesn't reflect this game at all.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a great-looking open-world game with impressive landscapes and cinematography. However, the checklist collectible open-world still needs some work to feel truly engaging, and combat is too tedious and too frequent to be compelling. As a lapsed fan of Assassin's Creed trying to see if I can click with the series once again, Valhalla didn't quite hook me as I was hoping it would.

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a lot of fun and easy to sink dozens of hours into. It is the best entry in the more recent trilogy and genuinely elevates the gameplay mechanics. Content could be considered somewhat bloated still, but it is diverse enough and the setting and story is solid most of the way through.

Sneaking is fun, fighting is fun, walking through the great outdoors is so much fun. Sightseeing too! Valhalla is free minded and could be innovative, but lacks skills to persuade its players about that. [Issue#308]
