Let me start by saying two things:
    1. My PC is at the lower end of the required specs (i7, 16 Gigs of RAM, GTX960). I run the game at medium settings, and it works perfectly well. No crashes or getting stuck, whatever.
    2. Yes, the game is a bit less "assassin-y". The story revolves around the stuff we know from other games, but it's not that you soon run around in the typical

    1. My PC is at the lower end of the required specs (i7, 16 Gigs of RAM, GTX960). I run the game at medium settings, and it works perfectly well. No crashes or getting stuck, whatever.
    2. Yes, the game is a bit less "assassin-y". The story revolves around the stuff we know from other games, but it's not that you soon run around in the typical Assassin-outfit or colors. You DO use stealth, a lot of things prove this is an AC-game, but it's less so than the other games. I am a huge fan of the franchise and have played and finished almost all the other ACs (minus Liberation and those mini-games). And I enjoy this one a LOT.

This game is pretty much a perfect follow up to Origins. If you did like that one, you will enjoy Odyssey. Many of the abilities and controls are the same, yet things were added.

    - Moral choices. They're not having a GIANT effect on the story, but you can be either the cruel, determined person or more of the nice hero.
    - Battles. They're not gigantic, but they are fun. You run around in a battlefield, taking out soldiers and commanders. You're a mercenary, so you pick the sides and help shift powers.
    - Ship battles are back. If you did like the naval battle in Black Flag and Rogue... you will feel rght at home, as they're pretty much the same. However, you can "spec" your ship by capturing officers who will give your ship perks.
    - I found the talent tree to be more fun than in Origins.

The game does look beautiful. There is a lot to explore. People have complained that enemies level with you, so you never are 10 lvls above your opponents. I don't mind though, because I guess the same people complained about Origins and how you got a ton of quests you couldnt do because you were too low level. So you had to do side quests in order to get to the other main quests.

Others have complained about micotransactions. If that disqualifies the game for you... that's your opinion and I respect it. However, I think you would miss out on a beautiful game. I for one simply ignore the store. On my travels, I easily picked up enough materials to upgrade my ship, craft arrows etc.

This is a lot like AC+Witcher3+300, but it still is an AC game. It looks a bit better than Origins, and to me is even more fun. I did replay Origins right before the release, and I enjoyed Odyssey more.

So my opinion: If your PC can run it (mine can, even though it's not a state of the art up to date gaming machine), and you like the franchise, definitely give this a try. It's a bit less "Don the outfit, equip your wristblades, be a precursor of Altair and Ezio", it's shifting more towards "Be a mercenary in Greece, get tangled up in events related to the other games, use assassin techniques".

Once again, I do love the franchise, and I don't get why people say it's "not AC". It adds a different flavor, takes a different approach. How often do we need the same "Young guy suddenly is involved in Templar plot, gets an assassin outfit, gets the blades, gets trained, tada"

Approach this with an open mind. If you did like Origins, this is a step up from that, and to me, it's a totally enjoyable game.

Do not let these whiny babies with 40 IQ and their 0 ratings distract you from playing one of the best Games of 2018 and best Assassin's Creed game in series. It is an excellent open-world RPG, not as good as Witcher 3 of course, but i doubt any game ever will be. Nevertheless it is very much worth playing. You can easily get up to 80 hours of fun out of it.

The game is truly breathtaking in terms of graphics. The addition of a female protagonist was long overdue, Kassandra is an amazingly fun character to play with. + very polished. good performance, very few bugs. the technical level of the game is close to perfect.
+ outstanding user interface. the game has a lot of content and arranging it so well is not easy.

It's amazing what the Ubisoft team can do if you give them enough time. They no doubt created one of the best open world sandboxes.

The one complaint I share with many players is that while the game is technically great, it doesn't have much to do with "Assassin's Creed". The name could almost be dropped at this point. They really need to continue the main story. It's been 10 years and it should come to a conclusion at some point.

I have to deduct another point, because Ubisoft changed the story of the game to appeal to homosexuals. Nothing wrong with that, but it shouldn't have any impact on the story and Ubisoft should have the spine to stand up to social justice warriors and stick to their original story. Stop trying to appeal to everyone and just do your thing, for **** sake. Giving in to such idiots makes you look weak.

tl;dr: The only weak point in this game is the story.

Odyssey is a terrific open world game with a ton of things to do and places to explore. It's also gorgeous to look at it. If you like eye candy, this is the game for you. It's also gorgeous to look at it. If you like eye candy, this is the game for you. Odyssey follows the trend these days to create a huge world and mash up many different gameplay elements into a single title. The Tomb Raider reboot did this, abandoning the mission-based format of the original series for a Far Cry-style open world combined with Uncharted-style gameplay. A lot of players don't like this, and I can understand this. Many still prefer a more classical approach to games that are more linear and focused. The Bioshock games do this, as well as Dishonored. And they do it for the most part extremely well. Likewise, a lot of players want a return of this series to the early Assassin's Creed games and not the direction that Origins and Odyssey have taken. It's a legitimate argument. I am rating this game like a standalone game, without any reference to early AC games. As a standalone game, I think it's great. It's not Witcher 3, to which it is often compared. I also played as Kassandra, and many have said that Kassandra makes for the better play-through than Alexios. I never felt like I was grinding in this game, which is a common complaint. To me, grinding is when all you do is run around killing things to make xp and get better gear. It's pretty much all you do in WoW, for example. I never did this in Odyssey. Yes, there are a lot of pointless fetch quests but you can skip them and still get levels doing other things. And there are a lot of hidden gems, quest chains with engaging stories in addition to the main story. Odyssey isn't a classic, but I give it a high score because of the fun factor, between the solid fight mechanics, the skill tree, ancient Greece history and lore, entertaining ship battles, the mercenary system, and a pretty interesting and well-voice acted lead character (again, I didn't play as Alexios but from what I saw of him in my game and on You Tube videos, he's not as good). There are a lot of reported bugs, but the game ran fine for me. For a game this size, you can always expect bugs until they get some major patches out. Overall I enjoyed this one a lot as both an action game and an rpg. Expand

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is an absolute masterpiece. Stunning visuals, beautiful environment, fantastic acting, good writing and engaging gameplay all packaged in one.

While it has its own shortcomings in the QoL department, AC Odyssey is a game I won't mind giving a 10/10, only if it weren't for its incredibly scummy microtransactions, obviously backed with a grind to encourage it.

Bugs do exist, but are not game-breaking. Micro transactions exist as well (which is sad for a single player game) to speed up progression, but that's not a problem for me. If you don't wanna buy, don't buy, go grind and have fun.

Game needs some optimization though, since its performance is not good and not stable., and the presets are just bad. Not a huge problem for me, since i game with an: Intel i7-4790 + GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G (MSI), averaging 56 fps, at 1440p, with custom settings in a combination of Ultra High + Very High + High. Super playable.

Finally, "exploration mode" instead of "guided mode" is a must, makes the whole adventure much more realistic and fun. Give it a try, you will never go back to guided mode. Definitely a recommended game to buy.

I'm eager to know what Ubisoft got for us for it's next AC game.
I gave it a score of 9 because in every mission I have to be in a specific level forcing me to do side quests that are pretty repetitive.
What stunned me are the location and the beautiful graphics overall, and to me I thought Origins had insane graphics but Odyssey is even better.
To me, it's not an intirely an assassin's Creed game but it's a change of fresh air, and I loved it.
Hopefully the next AC will be more towards the Assassin's Creed genre, until then, Ubisoft did an amazing work, hands down.
Just didn't give a score of 10 because of the forced side quests but a 9 is well deserved.

It has an interesting plot, the scenery is gorgeous, there's a wide range of difficulty, voice acting is good and gives me a better sense of what the Greek language sounds like, there's a sense of connecting with important historical characters and places that have always seemed dim and distant to me, movement feels natural and vigorous including running, walking, swimming, horseback riding, and piloting boats large and small, there is an abundance of varied quests, none of which is of the "kill 30 wild pigs" variety, combat options include rogue, bowman, and melee options (and you have to learn all of them), the adversaries are mostly bad guys and gals, and the Greeks depicted really look like they are from the eastern Mediterranean rather than northern Europe. There's plenty of innuendo but no graphic sexuality. You can inhabit a male or female avatar. Your in-game choices certainly affect your progress in the story. The setting is during the Peloponnesian War, which was a moment of high drama in that part of the world. Be warned that the Great Plague of Athens features in a few scenes. So if you've ever wanted to meet Socrates, Herodotus, and the like, or if you've been wondering where those "gods" all came from, or where they went, it's worth a look. Certainly it's one of my favorite RPGs to date. Expand

    Pros:
    - Huge world. It takes your breath away!
    - Some of the quests are really good.
    - The game looks absolutely fantastic!
    - Cool and satisfying character upgrades.
    - Fighting is fun and controls pretty well.
    - Interesting mechanics with upgrade paths are introduced over the course of the game, making things seem quite fresh most of the time.
    - Sailing on the sea is the best I've seen in a game. It looks and feels great!
    - The ambience and mercenary mechanics in the game makes the world feel alive and persistent.
    - Leveling feels like it matters. It's always a treat to stumble upon a location with lesser level opponents and just wipe the floor with them. I miss that in most modern "auto-opponent-leveling" games.
    - Some choices have a pretty significant impact on the story.
    - Fun stealth mechanics. It feels good to take out an entire fort without being noticed.
    - Some locations are stunningly designed and beautiful to behold. Both natural surroundings and buildings.

    Cons:
    - Huge world. Hard to stay focused...
    - Some of the quests are a bit dull which leads me to...
    - Too much grinding for character upgrades. The game expects you to play for at least 50 hours. I will gladly do that, it's a great game! But it does drag the upgrades out a bit too much at times.
    - Some boss monsters are a chore and hard to figure out. It quickly becomes a battle of stamina rather than technique. You quickly realize it's easier to just wait with the fights until you are 5 levels above them and go in like superman.
    - The overall landscape is quite unvaried throughout the map, except for the lushness of the flowers and grass.
    - Mercenaries with both insane near-field and far-field attacks are rage-inducing! No way to take a rest during battle, you feel like you are being pummeled and winning is more down to dumb luck than technique.
    - Some choices feel like they matter, but end up leading back to the same outcome anyway.

While AC: Origins was packed with interesting stories, Odyssey is a generic ’Ubisoft sandbox’ in the worst sense, with hundreds of the same-looking places, dozens of ”kill-fetch” quests and almost zero motivation to grind further.
