Assasin's Creed Odyssey is a very beautiful and large-scale game. It shows many interesting historical places and tells about the life of an ordinary Greek, but also tells an interesting story about a mercenary from the kind of Spartan kings. In the game I really liked the music, the ability to fight both at sea and on land, the plot, a large selection of actions and many side quests. One of the best Assassins creed games. Perfect fight system, interesting side quests, big open world. Only main story sucks.

Game is crazy long, finally beat the main story about 100 hours in, obviously doing a crap ton of side quests. The gameplay is well polished, favorite Creed game yet.

Let me start by saying that I have not played a single Assassin's Creed game since the very first one many years ago. So what you will get is the perspective of basically a new player who liked this game very much who played offline without any engagement with the premium content store or player made quests.

+ The game looks visually stunning. When you look closely not every texture is perfect, but considering how gigantic the open world is that is to be expected. Still, it is one of the most aesthetically pleasing open worlds I have ever seen and just a joy to look at and travel through. Sometimes I found myself crusing by ship to my destination for a solid 10 minutes instead of fast-traveling just because it was so much fun.
+ The combat (and controls in general) is snappy and aggressive which at first takes a bit getting used to, but it really forces you to engage with the combat system which makes it all the more rewarding. You start out like a nothing and by the end you feel like an all-powerful demigod. They did a good job at getting the difficulty right here. It's neither too easy nor too hard.
+ The mercenary system keeps combat fresh and really makes you feel like your actions matter, because as you commit crimes your bounty constantly increases which also means more bounty hunters will be on your heels. Really well implemented and some of the most challenging and unscriped/surprising fights happened in that environment which helped freshen the combat up
+ The boss fights against the mythical beasts were awesome and some of the biggest highlights of the game for me. Just wish there would have been even more!
+ The ship to ship combat deserves a game by itself. Just let that sink in for a moment. They build a complete Fantasy/Historical hybrid RPG with tons of content and then they added a massive aquatic warfare mode into it! Imagine a Mass Effect space opera in which you also fly your spaceship with tactical and satisfying ship vs ship combat. That's basically what they have done, just on the Mediterranean.
+ As a fan of ancient Greece and Rome this game checks all the history nerd boxes with me. Just cruising around the Mediterranean, exploring ancient temples and Greek cities is a dream come true. Not everything is of course perfect, but to date it is the best thing we have. Great praise to UbiSoft for the fantastic job they've done here.
+ I thought the story was surprisingly good. It really keeps you on your toes, you feel engaged and you feel really motivated to help the very well voice-acted characters. They are for the most part fun, well written and interesting NPCs who offer thoughtful, funny and engaging side quests. Only the ending of the main story is a bit weak when the main villain is revealed (as if you hadn't guessed it by then).
+ There's a good item variety and a large number of cool and unique ones that you wanna wear only based on how awesome they look. I for one feel in love with the Amazonian warrior breastplate which gave Kassandra such a ferocious fierce look. She looked like an ancient sun goddess!
+ I almost forgot the main character! I chose Kassandra and she is not only voice-acted superbly, her dialogue really lets here come alive. She is a strong yet authentic bad-ass female character that I really fell in love with! More of that please! I didn't play Alexios but the dialogue in-game seemed a bit too hard on the "buff, bad-ass male macho" type.

Now the game is not without its flaws:

    - The much criticised economy is not as bad as I expected it to be. There's just a couple of things you need to be aware of. Most notably: The game is not designed in a way that allows you to level up your items of choice by the blacksmith from start to finish. You just won't have enough resources so don't waste them, just pick new items and save your valuable stuff for when you want to upgrade the real cool stuff later
    - There's lots of generic quests all over the map that you just learn to ignore after 5-10 hours when you realise that they're just filler for the most part.
    - The game is designed to be played a large number of hours. I really wouldn't recommend it to someone who only has 1-2 hours per week. It will not only take forever, I can't imagine it being very satisfying, but maybe the changes to the XP and Gold generation that UbiSoft announced help in that regard.
    - The ending of one aspect of the main story was a bit of a let-down.

    Best Assassin Creed I've played.
Main story is fine, side quests are okay, even though some are repetitive and dull.
    Graphics is great.
Combat is engaging with different styles according to skills and weapons.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a great game with a vast and beautiful open world. The game is set in ancient Greece and I think it captures the world of in that time perfectly. The characters are pretty good but the dialogue can be a bit not great at times but I think you can forgive that for all of the other content. Over all I think it's a solid 9 and I really recommend this game.

This game really did the best to combine the best of the game mechanics of Witcher 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn. All the 3 game styles, assassin, melee, ranged are valid options.
The Greek world is astonishing, the map is huge, it is good to see people from Greek history.
The story is interesting but not at any level as deep as Witcher 3 provides. Most of the decisions have very little impact

The story is interesting but not at any level as deep as Witcher 3 provides. Most of the decisions have very little impact on the outcome. After the first ~20 levels, I think you have seen everything the game can offer, even it is becoming in a way easier as you start to ramp up skills that are more lethal than the basic levels. For me the bounty hunters appearing cheating in the middle of the fight and follow you to the bush your are hiding into resulted in that most of the money I earned went into clearing the bounties even in the middle of fights. Apart from this it is a brilliant game!

Normally I don't like Ubi AC and other games because they are so whacky social justice perverts and the whole series is antichristian to the core. It should really be called antichrist's creed because that's what it is meant to be by those round hats at ubi. The horrid talk about being developed by different weirdos at the first is so hypocritical it's perverse. Sensitivity to everything except western christian culture, wankers. This applies less to the last two AC games because it was before all that, but in Origins you can see the attempt to equate Bayek, the medjay (magi), with Christ which is just perverted garbage. You have to play that story and the Sinai DLC to get that though. The round hats and their buddies are always scheming to program the goy for their world slave state they want so bad.
---Apart from all that this is a good game that goes back to 450 BC or so, it's not educational or historically accurate as the stalinist/commie/1984 ubi would have you believe. It's huge, varied missions and environment are amazing. I just regret only being able to play it at 900p medium settings for ~60fps on my laptop. Drops lower in high npc areas etc but on average is close to that. It's a huge game that you can take hundreds of hours to completely finish or just go through the campaign. I use a trainer to cut out grind so that wasn't an issue for me. I wish they would have made kassandra more female and not sjw pc manlike, the one thing they really needed to copy from witcher 3 is Cyri's body type and combat but this does copy a lot from that game, like origins did as well. I find the mission tracking structure to be annoying at times as it breaks up the flow of a mission, sometimes sub-missions it won't auto track and you have to go find it in the menu to track, if you take on lots of missions that can be hard to do. I love the hawk mode as well, but I don't need a non removable prompt telling me to use Ikaros, let me do it my way. Too many hand-holding prompts in general. But there is so much you CAN do if you want that it's mind boggling, there's the Kosmos Cult, the war campaign, the ship missions, the DLC's and numerous side missions on top of the sizeable main story. Ubi needs to remove the excessive DRM though as that's probably a big reason this game is not too scalable and for even high end systems isn't consistent. A Gog release would be great or just a patch removing all that stuff after 2+ years would be nice.

IMO the best AC ever made (as of 2022). RTX3080 was stunning and smooth, with a story that concludes in a much more enjoyable way than that of AC Origins

I don't like Assassin's Creed games. I love this game. This game has such charm. The characters are interesting and compelling. The gameplay is simple and straightforward, with added depth of upgrading your gear, but it all seems to naturally fit within the world. The main and most side missions are great. The world is quite interesting to explore but the side objectives lacking a few 'bosses' are boring. I'd put it at 8.5 but just because of the great main missions will rate it as 9 on this website.

    2. It's a re-skin of Origins. I played about 60 hours of Origins and Odyssey is very different than Origins. This is just absurd hyperbole.

    3. Micro-transactions. Yes they are in the game, yes they should not be in the game and it makes me angry as well. That being said I never once felt the need to buy them to enjoy the game. The game is a 100% completed game and is fully enjoyable without purchasing anything extra. You more than enough get your moneys worth.

    4. Poor PC optimization. I run this on a PC and the game runs butter smooth on everything maxed out. People are angry because they can't run it in 4K butter smooth, but guess what, no modern open world game can run at 4K with everything maxed out at a perfectly stable 60 FPS. There is absolutely nothing wrong with optimization.

    5. The story and or writing aren't good. This is rather subjective but I think that anyone would enjoy the main story. It's a good story, better than Origins and on par with the other AC games if not better.

Anyway, after you finish RDR 2 you should totally play this game. It's really good and I have enjoyed every moment of it. Don't miss out on something great because a bunch of haters that don't know what they are talking about. How many of these haters put in 100 hours into this game? Don't trust them, trust me. You can ofc even go a middle way and be somewhat decent at all these things but from my current 140+ hours of playing so far i found the best result putting the focus into one or two of the categories. Right now my preferred play style is as an assassin/warrior hybrid. This game for me shares a first place with Assassin's creed Black Flag in the franchise.

It has one thing i absolutely hate and that is micro-transactions, specially the pay $15 to get a permanent 50% xp and drachmae boost. This being an option makes it feel like they intentionally crippled the amount of xp you gain.

+ outstanding user interface. the game has a lot of content and arranging it so well is not easy.

It's amazing what the Ubisoft team can do if you give them enough time. They no doubt created one of the best open world sandboxes.

The one complaint I share with many players is that while the game is technically great, it doesn't have much to do with "Assassin's Creed". The name could almost be dropped at this point. They really need to continue the main story. It's been 10 years and it should come to a conclusion at some point.

I have to deduct another point, because Ubisoft changed the story of the game to appeal to homosexuals. Nothing wrong with that, but it shouldn't have any impact on the story and Ubisoft should have the spine to stand up to social justice warriors and stick to their original story. Stop trying to appeal to everyone and just do your thing, for **** sake. Giving in to such idiots makes you look weak.

tl;dr: The only weak point in this game is the story.

    Cons.
    1. Poor optimization on PC.
    2. Microtransactions sneaked in single player game. Glad they are truly optional if you are into doing side questing.

I am truly amazed by the sheer amount of negativity towards this game. I mean sure there are some scummy things Ubi has pulled that's why it's not a 10/10 game but it's still no 6. I mean Syndicate was boring AF and it still outscores this game in user reviews. I don't care for critic reviews as they can be bought and are mostly disconnected to their audience these days but i expected better user scores for this game.

The Pros heavily outweighs the cons for me. Biggest con in any AAA game these days is lack of optimization for PC hardware. It still is evident here. Then Ubi sold microtransactions that are gameplay altering which is another con. But as i said they are optional and in real sense optional, not Like EA's FIFA like optional. I never felt the need to buy those XP boosters at all for progression as i like exploring and doing some side questing all the time. And as for gear, well nothing in store outshines anything you get in normal gameplay stat wise. So as scummy as that practice is, this game is not Microtransactione mess by any stretch. I guess direction that this series has taken may be a con to some AC series fans but it's no big deal for me. I am not purist. If the game is well made and let's me immerse into the story and world then it's ok to deviate from it's predecessor. Many fans didn't think even AC black flag as a 'true' assassin's creed game, may be they are right but that still doesn't make Black flag any less enjoyable. I haven't played AC 1 and AC 2 but played every other release of this game and this game has to be the second best of the games i played of this series. Second only to black flag. I miss the stealth gameplay and staying true to the lore of assassins which i feel is missing to the level of non existent in the origins and odyssey. Witcher 3 impact is clearly visible but as i said, it's still a very enjoyable game. You get to do vast amounts of exploration, the side questing is well written, main story is okayish and your choices do have an impact on the outcome. The dialogue writing is good too.

Let's address the SJW element, well they are there but for most part doesn't come off in your face. I still can't get over the fact that you can choose the gender of the ancestor and let's say you want to implement that for the sake of new direction you want to take the game in, at least make that well not superficial like the way it's implemented in the game. Every thing including dialogues and how world reacts to you is same irrespective of who you choose to play as. I mean that's like missing the whole point of these kind of choices, there have to be different outcomes, different how world looks at you, treats you, but no Ubisoft doesn't want to be bothered with those details, for them the peloponnesian world is all like it's in modern times and there is absolutely no difference in how people treat you, speak with you if you were a man or woman. Alexios should have different dialogue options at least in some quests and some quests to have different ways to complete them so does Kassandra. But apparently big brawny female warriors was a common thing in ancient greece according to ubisoft and people won't be surprised to see a female mercenary at all. That kind of nuance can't be expected from any game DEV so the purpose is not to single out Ubisoft specifically here, most game devs are culprit of the same mistakes.

To sum it up, AC Odyssey is a brilliant action RPG with some meaningful choices having impact on outcomes with decent side quests, sprawling beautiful landscapes and full of secrets and things to do. The game's negatives won't deprive you of any enjoyment if you are not playing with any prejudice. The concerns related to Microtransactions are valid and even though they don't spoil this game but we must call this out. The optimization should be done properly as people pay same price on PC for this game too. All in all, at least for me, this has to be the best AC game since 2014. Worth playing with all its expansions.

It has the naval battles of Black Flag. It has the lieutenant captures and adding to your team like Shadow of Mordor. It has the RPG-like system of Origins with decision trees thrown in for good measure. It all actually works pretty well, especially the decision tree system. It starts at the very beginning when you choose which character to play, either the brother or the sister and there are big changes to the story for each one. I noticed a few small errors in some of the tree decisions like I made a major choice at one point in the story and the game in-inexplicably put me on the other path but it really didn't matter to me and I don't hold it against a game as massive as this as there are bound to be a few bugs. Nothing was game breaking.
The story is the big sell point. This is probably the best I've seen in the Assassin's Creed franchise. I felt many previous stories (of the few AC games I've played) were paint-by-the-numbers with little emotion or surprises. Odyssey changes all of that. This installment gets a lot more fantastical too with the option of fighting "pre-cursor abominations" in the guise of legendary Greek creatures of myth. That alone adds a whole new dimension to the series and I hope they keep it up in future installments,
One new feature that really sets this game apart from others in the franchise is the battle system. It's impressive to take part in an actual large scale battle and watch the two armies slowly widdle each other down. Sometimes there are only a handful of soldiers left standing once the fight is over. It's definitely more challenging when you assist the army on the attack at the defending army will have one rival mercenary for you to fight. I hope in the future that the game adds fortress raids, artillery or more challenges to keep it interesting.
The game is beautiful like most in the series, but I notice after the insane amount of detail in Red Dead Redemption 2 that this felt slightly... "plain"... in comparison. RDR2 is such a huge leap forward that I have a feeling most games will feel this way for a couple more years. Thing like the horse riding is stiff and awkward. Fire effects and weather effects, though good, instantly look dated thanks to RDR.
Speaking of RDR, one of my biggest issues with that game, I have with AC:O... fast travel. The eagle perch synchronization system is back, of course, but instead of unlocking fast travel to the nearest town.. or towns in that territory... the game fast travels you to this odd perch high up in the middle of nowhere sometimes. This just makes no sense. Some territories have no fast travel option. Including some islands that you will need to sail to if you need to visit again. In games as massive as AC and RDR, that require 100s of hours of playtime, a poor fast travel system is just a giant waste of time and just unforgivable in this day and age of gaming. At least travel by horse in Odyssey is a lot quicker than in Redemption.
My other major major quip is that the leveling is way too fast in this game. I think Ubisoft responded to complaints about the last game and over compensated even though I have a feeling that a lot of those people never even played that game. For example, the player levels up with nearly every major main quest completed.. of which there are many. However, if you take a side quest or two... and depending on where that mission is located (like in a major fortress with a leader to assassinate or regional treasure to steal) then you can easily level up again from just a single mission. Add on special assassin targets, legendary creatures, battles and more and you will find that you are always above level for the main story quests. Enemies and regions below your level will always maxed at only 2 levels below you which is fine. The problem is the gear you will find will be, at best, 2 levels below you. After leveling another time or 2 that already low level gear will become even worse very quickly. You will be switching to mismatched newly acquired gear often, making Legendary Weapons and Gear sets obsolete very quickly. The material needed to upgrade this equipment is just insane and practically pointless. So enjoy that new Legendary set of gear for a couple hours because afterwards you may never use it again. It's a shame because the gear this time around is a lot more unique and interesting compared to Origins, but it just becomes obsolete way too fast.
Overall the game looks great and is a blast to play with a surprisingly touching story and some fun new mechanics thrown in.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm so happy we finally got a new 3rd person, Elder Scrolls game in 2018!... and here I thought I'd have to keep modding Skyrim until 2021's official TES:VI release.

Okay. So it's not really a TES game. I lied. But you gotta admit, I almost had you going there. No? Oh well... let's see.

    - Choose Gender? Check. (I chose Kassandra)
    - Choose Race? Check... albeit limited to Imperial.
    - Start story by getting armor after killing the first enemies? Check.
    - Having to go to a nearby town to actually get your first quest from someone who helped you when you were just a bandit (well... child bandit)? Check.
    - Being attacked randomly by trios of wolves in the wild? Check.
    - Notification (for the first time in an AC game) that you would be STEALING??? CHECK!
    - Being attacked by villager for stealing his stuff? CHECK CHECK CHECK!

Okay, you know, I could keep going, but it's better if I stop there. Actually, TES:VI is rumored to take place in Hammerfell. A region not to different from Ancient Rome/Greece/Norther Africa and Middle East. Looks like AC's got you beat there, Bethesda.

    Now. Onto the good stuff.

This game is an Assassin's Creed game, but it is more Witcher "3.5" than Prince of Persia, and that's what people are upset about. They are upset because, quite frankly, Ubisoft resorted to doing away with the formula completely before even trying to fix what was broken in the final days of the "true AC" (that is: Unity and Syndicate). They are right to be upset, but they are wrong in their assumption that their dislike for the latest formula, which is really an amalgam of other games' formulas, means the game is automatically bad, or as some have ignorantly put it, the "worst AC game ever" (clearly they did not play Unity).

    The game is not great.
    The game is not terrible.
The game sits somewhere between "The world could always use more heroes!" and "Ever get that feeling of deja vu?" (As respectively voiced by Overwatch's Tracer). And it never really leaves that place. If you enjoyed the freer elements of Origins, you will enjoy this one even more. If you enjoyed the more tedious elements of Origins, you will be frustrated by the freedom in this one. Thankfully, Ubi's got your back and they have a mode selection to let you decide whether you want freedom or not. Whether you want to play Skyrim, or AC:Origins.

The fighting mechanics, the visuals, the AI (including Mount pathfinding), the voice acting, the lip-sincing, the music, the bugs, etc etc etc, are in many ways identical to Origins. In fact, so many of these things are so identical, it becomes clear as soon as you leave the first island, that you're basically playing a stand-alone expansion of Origins. This, naturally, has upset many people.

So let me tell you what Odyssey is...

    - It's a fun game
    - It's a spin-off of Origins
    - It's definitely a game where you can assassinate your way through pretty much every NPC, except the important marks (I can see why people are upset at this, but for me, it's a nice break from something that started so long ago, I'm kind of tired of it)
    - It's an amalgam of many other really popular Action RPGs
    - It may or may not be worth the price tag for many. I got it on sale because PC games always have sales pretty much immediately.

... and then let me tell you, finally, what it is not:

    - It is NOT a TES game, so don't be fooled into buying it thinking you'll get that kind of epicness out of it.
    - And it is NOT a bootleg version of Witcher 3 (you won't get that kind of story), despite my significant other walking into the room while I was playing it and immediately asking me "Is that a new area in Witcher?"

The biggest downside to the game is optimization, the game has 99-100% of CPU usage. But if you have a good PC it's no problem. It's a good RPG, I highly recommend.

And just to add. All and I mean all of the 0/10 reviews are trolls or idiots. The game is not perfect but a 0/10 is impossible for this game.

Overall I had a good time playing Odyssey, the map and world are great and there are some excellent quests. Kassandra is the best character as the voice actor is much better. I was really immersed in the world and story. The downsides are the slide to grind removal fees and in game purchases, Ubisoft needs to look at what CDProject Red has accomplished and not try to copy the EA model.

Most of the names used - Markos, Nikolaos, even the protagonist's name Alexios if you can believe it, are Byzantine, Italian even Syrian names and they were certainly not used in the game's time period, but close to a millennium later.

Don't get me started about "malakas" which is just simply annoying that it is used in that time period. And it's used constantly nonetheless.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I usually dont review games but when i saw so much negativity i got the feeling this game doesn't deserve it. I will share with you my experience with this game from my point of view:
    pros:
-combat system (you can block, dodge and plan yor attacks when the time is right and it is far better then Assassin Creed Origins; if you apply block 1 millisecond before or after the npc attack you, you will be punished; if you are attacked by several NPC, they will try to flank you and strike not all in the same time so they can trick you to block first attack but you cannot avoid the other npc attack - i really enjoy combat mechanic) Combat with bosses is not annoying like in Origins where you have to kill some bosses only from distance. IMO is the best combat system by far in any Assassin Creed game and is better then The Witcher 3. I played on nightmare from start and i enjoy it.
-environment, the world is huge and very beautiful. Everywhere you go, you see temple and statues. I already achived max level by exploring 2-3 provinces and doing only side quests and rampage forts/camps in stealth or direct assault with apropriate builds (stealth builds or combat builds (melee or ranged) - you have plenty movies on youtube which explaines this builds in details) or recruting gold npc for the ship. It become very interesting when you enter in a fort on the main gate, npc's signal the braziers, reinforcements come, you have bounty on your head (and bouty hunters will search you there in a short time) and you keep killing npc's soldiers, archers, captains, fort commanders, bounty hunter (who tryes to burn/poison you) and kill all of them in melee fights (not
with the bow, only running unpredictive, killing npc in rooms of the forts to avoid arrows). You get the feeling you are a bad ass and nothing will stand in your way. I think the developers tried to capture this emotion. Avoid using bows becose it is too easy.
    -naval combat
-you dont have to spent any money on microtransactions - it help you little with your time, i have gold stuff only by doing the main story or exploring the map.
-you can recruit "a henchman" (you can tame an animal as a follower: wolf, linx, lion, bear)
-soundtrack of the game, it tries to capture the feeling of beeing in Ancient Greece
    cons:
-story, but is not a big deal becose cannot be masterpiece, a masterpiece cannot be a story for a game - you do a movie for this or you just publish it.
-quest are too repetitive and become boring after a while, but i doubt there is a solution for this. What you can do except go to a location kill/talk npc's? Read a little story or listen an npc? People will not enjoy this.

Lets be onest: you cannot create Assassin Creed II in 2018. You have to come with some new things which will change the game so much and it become something new. I tryed to play Assassin Creed II couple of months ago and after 40 min it become boring. English is not my native language and i am sorry for my language mistakes.

I liked it and didn’t at the same time... I liked: (1)Excellent graphics of the World, nice music and, as always, colossal work on the details of the ancient World and visual. (2)Side quests(half are very boring and flat, but the other half - interesting, and some can be called "strong"). Quests for time and for choice(I rarely took them, but I liked the idea)... Now, what I didn’t like:I liked it and didn’t at the same time... Now, what I didn’t like: (1)A lot of small bugs(getting stuck in rocks and textures for example), a lot of loot, which is impossible to take. (2)Almost all the tombs are almost completely similar. (3)The hero sticks to curbs and other objects as if on glue(sometimes because of this you can't escape or normally fight). (4)Too slooo horse when you exit the city(I hate this horse and because of every call, it starts winding circles around you instead of just stopping nearby). (5)Russian localization, a man often called as a woman, both in voice and subtitles. (6)Once Again, there is a huge difference of power in LVL numbers. And in general, all game progress here is insolently focused on looting(or donation). (6)"I can't help" = "I don't know about the disease"(the choice in dialogues often different from what the hero says). (7)A.I. of enemies and characters is quite dumb even at almost maximum difficulty(they are completely deaf, even when you dance over their heads until they see you - they are blind). (8)The dumbest idea with legendary animals: Absolutely clean swamp, beyond which the boar cannot go, resetting his health is only necessary to take a step beyond the invisible wall and the immortality of the beast even two steps away from that wall - this is visually stupidity. (9)Fights are a bit arcade and chaotic (Sometimes you hits in all directions, neighbors, anyone but not the targeted enemy). However, in fairness, you get used to it after some time. But the whole game does not leave the impression that the word assassin is superfluous in the game, because this Spartan is forced to swing a sword almost all the time, in a small cases - a bow. And the hidden-blade is used insofar as, in contrast to the early games of the series. Oh, Speaking about weapons... (10)No matter how much I leveled-up, how much I overtake the game in levels, after a certain moment, I never felt POWER over the enemy. For example, I almost always needed to use a strong hidden blade skill to KILL an enemy rather than cripple them. And periodically, even this was not enough to the enemies of the same level with me. WTF!? And also, the bonuses of armor and weapons are poorly felt in practice. From the middle of the game, I started to use only one set and to upgrade it, because I simply lost interest in all these pseudo-bonuses(except some unique ones). (11) After Desmond's death in the old game, exits from the "Animus" into reality are fierce crap. What for? For whom? No plot advancements, no key events. In the Odyssey, this, in general, reached its climax: Run a couple of corridors, listen to a couple of dialogues. That's it, damn it. Only in Atlantis DLC it gave us some interesting story scenes. (12) The ship is OK, but it's completely useless against shore. This is surrealistically stupid, when a rain of arrows simply knocks down a soldier without armor by only scratching him a little! And also, in the whole game I have not met a single interesting enemy at sea. Even in story missions(remember the legendary ships in "Black Flag"). (13)It is necessary to give a very strong hit to hands of a man who wrote the riddle "field of centaurs". The third centaur points in a completely wrong!!! direction. (14)I did not notice this, but I agree with whoever said it in another reviews - the bad thing is that the player can climb anywhere and in any way. The charm of parkour and climbing is lost, as it was in the old games. And the terrible skill of immortality when jumping(This is some kind of surrealism, jumping off the mountain!!! and taking no damage, LOL). (15)And the last thing: Too flat and simple ending of the main game's story. What the hell was this?! A huge game with such an ending? "Origins" was good, DLCs were good... Odyssey's main game - sucks. No, I agree that it was interesting ideologically and plot to make alternative endings, but it was NOT supposed to be the final of the whole story, the last mission. "Wasted".
First DLC: I liked the story of the game. The game-play and other details are the same as in the main game. I didn’t like only two things: (1)The stupidest decision of the game to force the hero to leave the beach for battle, contrary to the general decision. Heroic stupidity = movie cliché. (2)When the hero and the old man are talking in a barn at the shipyard, in the dialogue you say "while we are doing this, I am ready to put up with you". This is just illogical wild nonsense. "Atlantis" DLC: A large, varied, extremely beautiful DLC. Many interesting moments and strong interesting enemies. Especially bosses.
I will put the minimum green rating.

If Ubisoft released a reskin of AC 2 every year you'd be complaining. Following the footsteps of Origins, Odyssey is a full blown RPG game. Many people compare it to Witcher 3. How far can you go gameplay wise in a stealth game without introducing some other elements to the game? If Ubisoft released a reskin of AC 2 every year you'd be complaining. Following the footsteps of Origins, Odyssey is a full blown RPG game. Many people compare it to Witcher 3. I'd say it's a child of the two as stealth is still highly encouraged. RPG elements sure had positive and negative effects on the game but I think it's not the elements' fault but rather Ubisoft's implication. Lets get my frustrations out of the way as there is but one. You have 3 damage types. Hunter for the bow and it's skills, warrior for melee combat and skills, assassin for assassinations and its skills. Because I prefer stealth, I opted to max my assassin damage as I had trouble with my assassin damage not being enough. So I only put on gear that increased my assassin damage and also warrior damage in case I screw up and have to go into the combat. This made my hunter damage so low that past a certain point, I didn't fire a single arrow. People also mention that you have to grind for levels If you want to progress in the story. This didn't affect me beacuse I already willingly try to do all side missions. They didn't feel like a chore at all.
Now, this game's not all negative. You get a huge world albeit a bit empty. Graphics are top notch albeit poorly optimized for pc but you can take care of that with a quick google search. The story really grabbed my attention. Combat had some welcome changes. Microtransactions didn't bother me at all. What can I say it's overall a good time. Buy if you can and want.

So yeah, this game is definietly better than origins, and for me no, not the best assassin's creed I've played, but it has so much fun this is certain.

If you love ancient greece it could be even a 9 (although the social aspect is anachronic at best, the documentation work regarding the design of cities and buildings is almost perfect), but if not... a 7 maybe? it's fun and has outstanding visuals, but the story is simply stupid and silly.

The latest addition to the Assassin's Creed franchise is truly a wonder and a fresh take on a stale idea. The excellent execution, gameplay and story is only overshadowed by greedy micro transactions, paid XP and awful optimization.

An excellent and beautiful game from ancient Greece. Maybe it’s very different from the first game, however this evolution benefits the brand. [Issue#290]

While AC: Origins was packed with interesting stories, Odyssey is a generic ’Ubisoft sandbox’ in the worst sense, with hundreds of the same-looking places, dozens of ”kill-fetch” quests and almost zero motivation to grind further.
