The story is good and Aveline is charming; I enjoyed playing another AC game just after finishing AC4. The trade minigame was interesting, but If I spent too much time on it, the game freeze or crash; I've lost a hour of work. Sometimes, the mouse clicks didn't register so I had to click around until it finally accepted the click on the buy goods button. From gameplay mechanics perspective, it has the usual overwhelming tailing and instant-failing missions, and lacks instant replayability in case I didn't succeed with the optional objectives: had to wait 15 minutes of credits to go back and try some of the final and toughest fights. I was curious about how Gérard and Aveline's relationship evolves, but the game didn't elaborate on them further on, sadly. Expand

A decent game with an interesting protagonist. However, the side characters were extremely thin, and the overall plot barely had anything to do with the series. Aside from a 3 sentence projection at the end the plot really had little to do with Assassins Creed's P.O.E plot.

I liked the environment, and the protagonist was a strong character, but this could've really been developed more as a full game rather than just DLC.

Very little explanation to the character or her place in the dna plot was given, and her growing up was rushed too much, if more time was given (more like conner's growing up from AC3) then people would've cared more about the character.

The gameplay was good, similar to AC3 obviously, the HD version's graphics were decent and any changes/improvements to gameplay were enjoyable yet underdeveloped. (I think i only needed to use Aveline's unique tool 10 times in the game.

Lackluster, hard to follow story that jumps around too much. Persona system is interesting, but falls flat when you are forced to adopt one persona 90% of the time.

Also, buggy as hell with some of the worst climbing controls and detection of the series.

    Analysis: Assassin's Creed Liberation

AC Liberation is a port made of PS Vita for the consoles and PC. It is visible that the game is a size, and a lot of the evil done.

Gameplay: The game has the same gameplay as its predecessor, AC 3, continues with the same climbing problems, jumping in the moments and direction that the player does not want. The battles are repetitive, exhausting, with the same movements as Connor, of AC 3, causing the main character to lose his combat personality. An implementation in the gameplay that I liked the idea enough, but was poorly implemented, was the fact that the character has 3 types of disguises, one for each occasion.

    Note: 5/10

Graphics: I do not know if it was due to the size, but the game, which was to maintain the same graphic quality of AC 3, can not provide that. On the loading screen, the graphics are gorgeous, however when the game starts the quality of everything drops. One problem that irritated me a lot was the fact that the game was constantly stalled, regardless of what was happening on the screen, confirming that the game is not optimized for the PC.

    Note: 5/10

History: VERY LOW! The central idea is excellent, the fact that the main character is a black woman fighting for the freedom of the slaves is too much! But it's only 5 minutes from the first kinematics and 10 minutes from the last one to understand the game. The only point that saves the narrative is the plot twist that occurs at the end and [spoiler] that Aveline meets Connor in the story, working together on a mission.

    Note: 7/10

Music: Interesting soundtrack, varies in each scenario frequented using the characteristics of them. However, due to the few scenarios available, the soundtrack is becoming repetitive and nauseating.

    Note: 7/10

    Final Note: 6/10

Summary: For that fan of the AC saga who wants to fully understand every detail of the game, it's worth it; but for those who only want a title to play, pass well.

Before you read forward I want you to know that I prefer that one over this one, for a number of reasons, and I suggest you play that one instead. There is literally no reason why I would rather play the original.

The one DLC this game had, available for free through the Ubisoft Connect software: "A Different Point of View" is no longer playable because Ubisoft has removed the servers behind the DLC. Funny how one can lose access to singleplayer content for a singleplayer game because the developer decides to take some servers down. Shameful and disrespectful to the playerbase, even though the DLC was free.

Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD is a remaster-port of the original PS Vita game, and it draws parallels with Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines in terms of being shorter and serving as an expansion of the existing storyline. The game's transition from handheld to PC has been handled decently, though it falls short when compared to other AC titles available on PC.

One of the standout aspects of the game is its protagonist, Aveline de Grandpré, who is the series' first playable female character. Her likable voice, appearance, and well-developed personality make her a great lead. However, the supporting characters don't match her level of depth, with only a couple of them being genuinely interesting. The overall story is above mediocre, enough to maintain interest but lacking the same intrigue as some other AC games.

The gameplay and graphics are downgraded compared to Assassin's Creed III, and there are noticeable glitches throughout the playthrough, making the experience less smooth than desired. One unique gameplay feature is the "persona" mechanic, allowing players to dress as an assassin, lady, or slave. While this idea holds potential, its implementation falls short as players are often forced into specific personas for missions. Nonetheless, it remains an interesting addition to the game.

Another new gameplay element is the "chain-kill" feature, which lets players press a button to select up to four enemies for Aveline to eliminate automatically. Unfortunately, this feature feels out of place, lacking any logical context or purpose and making combat less engaging.

The game takes place in two main maps, with New Orleans being a satisfactory, familiar AC setting, and Bayou being the weakest location in the series so far, causing frustration being hard hard to parkour or run on this map. On top of it, the canoe in Bayou has tanky controls, adding to the annoyance of navigating the area.

All in all, Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD is the most forgettable title in the series for PC. While it can slightly enhance the Assassin's Creed III experience, it does not significantly impact the overall storyline. Nevertheless, playing as Aveline is enjoyable, and she deserves a proper standalone game.

One disappointing aspect is the list of achievements, which is not implemented on Steam. This omission robs players of the satisfaction of showcasing their accomplishments, as achievements can only be viewed on Ubisoft Connect, which lacks a feature to share them with others. One can only see my achievements progress as screenshots[imgur.com], on Backloggery[www.backloggery.com], and written by myself on my Steam profile) Additionally, in-game notifications for unlocking achievements are also missing, making the achievement system feel incomplete.

In conclusion, Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD has its moments but remains an average addition to the series. The game's strong points lie in its protagonist, Aveline, and the persona mechanic, but it falls short in comparison to other PC versions of the franchise. Despite its flaws, the game can offer a worthwhile experience to fans of the series, even though it may not leave a lasting impression.
