Apr 21, 2015A stripped down stealth offering that reinvigorates Assassin's Creed by putting attention back on the sneaky stuff.
-
Apr 21, 2015This spinoff doesn't need to hide in the shadows of the other titles of the series. This stealth 2D platformer is very motivating with diverse gameplay.
-
Apr 23, 2015It's nice to take a break from the increasingly convoluted plot of the main storyline with a straightforward tale of revenge set in a historic corner of the world that often doesn't get a lot of attention in Western video games.
-
May 1, 2015Although Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China doesn’t have the same feel to it as recent Assassin’s Creed titles, it does perform well as a platformer.
-
Apr 22, 2015It’s clear that China took the best bits of its larger siblings and added its own flavor – I feel the big budget work of Ubisoft Montpelier would be served well by returning the gesture.
-
Apr 21, 2015Chronicles might be a little tame in places and lack enough variety to keep you interested for long, but it has a charm I feel the other Assassin’s Creed games now lack.
-
Apr 23, 2015Inexplicably not created in UbiArt framework, China offers a quality stealth platforming experience that Assassin's Creed fans will enjoy, but will ultimately remain in the genre's high water mark's (Mark of the Ninja) shadow.
-
PC PowerPlayMay 30, 2015An interesting game, despite its hangups and frustrating difficulty. [June 2015, p.64]
-
Apr 27, 2015Do you want to know what happened to Ezio's last apprentice? Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China is answer for this question. It's a clone of Mark of Ninja. It's still fun but it should release for mobile devices. It gives a new lore for Assassin's Creed fans.
-
May 14, 2015To boil it down to the very basics: Chronicles is a platformer, a reincarnation of old Prince of Persia. There are no famous landmark, no intricate story involving multitude of historical personages. Even the weapons selection is very barebone. [June 2015, p.80]
-
May 20, 2015There’s definite worth in this spin-off, and ample evidence that Climax can deliver, but a greater sense of adventure is needed if Chronicles is to truly soar.
-
Apr 29, 2015Assassins Creed Chronicles: China sees a massive departure from the core gameplay of the franchise, and while it is refreshing to see the game take some risks it never really finds its own identity.
-
Apr 25, 2015Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China is a wonderful setting for a competent, but fairly unimaginative, 2.5D stealth title. Hopefully this won’t be Shao Jun’s final appearance.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jul 8, 2015Using assassin’s stealth techniques in a 2D environment didn't really succeed. It looks nice, and it even entertains for a moment. But do not expect anything more. [Issue#253]
-
May 18, 2015Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China makes an attempt to renew the franchise, unfortunately it fails. Neither the stealth- or action sequences are particularly well-made and neither is the level design. To appreciate this you need to be a huge fan of the series.
