If you like just having fun and realize this is a new venture of online service type game from a Publisher(BioWare) which has not done before and can see the potential that a game could have then this is a game for you.

Yes there are a lot of reviews out there that have given this game a not so stellar review but as a consumer we have to become more critical of those reviewers which most of us have grown to love and that is to see if perhaps this game may not be for them or had to high of expectations.

The core aspect of the game is without a doubt entirely a fun ride all together though you have to ask yourself what you are looking for from Anthem. If you do not mind grinding endlessly with more of a focus on the abilities for loot then perhaps this game may be for you. People express that the grind is to much for less than stellar rewards well got a news article for you for pretty much every game like WoW, Destiny 2, Division to name a few all have grinding aspects to their game which at times to some people may not be as stellar as the next person.

Connection problems are a bane for most online games at their inception and some companies tend to have better luck in regards to expecting it. The whole aspect is that with a release there are multiple variations of computer equipment as well as programs running that may interfere with the service you are getting though last time I heard they are continuously releasing patches as well as addressing them with their best solution they can make. I at times get the sound bug but that does not halt my enjoyment of the game though yes it is a bit of a nuisance to me to have to restart but it is usually quick for me to get back into the swing of things. Sometimes when I go do something in particular I drop like in a mission but the good thing is that when I relaunch and as long as that mission is in progress I can rejoin or perhaps it is ended so I just have to launch another mission and all the loot I acquired is still there saved.

All in all I am having fun and I do recommend this game for to me I have gotten my money's worth out of the game and the good news is that if I need to take a break due to a new game coming out that I want to play I can always return and be able to be right next to my friends for the future DLCs are all free as they say but time will tell.

However, it's been a ton of fun to play. The actual gameplay mechanics are very well done and the world is bloody beautiful. Combat is pretty fun if a little simplistic. I think there's a solid foundation for a really fun game, provided EA keeps their promise of an evolving world & future content, Bioware works to improve the experience a bit, and we're a little patient.

In general I think we're so spoiled by mature games that have had years to iron things out that we forget that the launches are normally rocky and it takes time to get everything in shape. If the idea of a squad based shooter appeals to you, I'd say give it a try. If you come in with an open mind, you'll find it to be a fun experience.

    Hello,

Anthem is just the only video game that made me feel so thrilled with a gameplay that is really sublime, clearly if you are a fan of Iron Man and SF this game is for you.

The game puts us in control of a combat armor on vitamins in a hostile region your goal and reduce to crumbs threats that hover over your city "Fort Tarsis"
on the border of your civilization.

The universe is rich, you could discover it by are written in many codices or through various discussions with NPCs.
These discussions may be interesting but it tends to slow down the pace of your adventures to see if you want to know the last gossip of Fort Tarsis.

    CONS:
    - The game lacks optimization on the use of your PC's resources
    - Currently in exploration / Libre mode the content is somewhat boring but it should be improved through the different updates scheduled in ROAD MAP 2019
    - An improvement of the menu and various functionality of the multiplayer is necessary to make the game more fluid
    - A poor in-game store
    - More End game content through the dungeons (after I do not want to throw the stone on them because a majority comes to this contented with a destiny ...)

    PROS:
    - A huge graphic customization of the armor
    - A gameplay in the action phase very well thinking and really thrilling notice to the WARFRAME fan
    - An open world that holds the road (ff15 and warframe if you hear me)
    - A lore really very push and interesting to discover through anecdote and other history that make us discover a dangerous world
    - A roadmap that starts a week after the release of the game here looks really good, and it ensures content until the end of the year

The reviews are also negative I think because the bioware fan expects a massfect while bioware to announce a warframe in the open world.

It really meets the expectations of players who want a good action game sf.

It's rare that I'm happy with a day one game, but I was able to play all the armor and they all have their charm that allows you to have a really colorful fight.

I hope that my criticism will enlighten you on a game that deserves to be discovered.

    Sincerely,

    Wolf Hunt's

P.S: I wanted to put 10 but we can always improve and even if I fell in love with the game I'm not blind so far.

Let me start of by saying, this is not your typical BioWare game. The story is short and the characters (not main plot ones) are lackluster and the dialogue choices not that consequential. The facial animations are excellent and the gameplay is AWESOME! The customization of the javelins are excellent and I had a lot of fun with this game. The story leaves some to be desired and the missions are repetitive, but since they already have future updates planned (already late march) I don't worry about this. There are some bugs, but nothing out of the ordinary with a game like this within the first week of launch. We can all claim it shouldn't have any issues, but we need to be realistic about this.

This game is honestly worth a try and if BioWare is given useful feedback Anthem has the potential of being a great game!

The gameplay is fun, the graphics are awesome and when the bugs are fixed and they start realizing more content the game will be even better.

Anthem is so much more than a Loot grabbing Shooter but not quite a full fledged RPG. But that's Ok. Bugs aside, this game is really fun and engrossing if You as a gamer dont making a very fundamental mistake of comparing it to either a traditional online shooter or an Epic Bioware RPG masterpiece like Mass effect. Why? Because it is in a sub genre of its own. Being from Bioware, Everyone expects it to have a really deep and enriching story with branching dialogue and character decision Consequences that affect each and every aspect of the game. But doing that would not be sustainable or realistically possible for an online multiplayer co-op shooter as the game would have to track each and every branching decision You make and try to matchmake with people who have made the exact decisions or at-least decisions that, for the moment at-least, are aligned with your story line. And if You keep in mind that traditional branching story lines have thousands of possibilities and combinations, It would only add more load on the server, more work for the Ai, more load times(Yes, I know the current load times are also just a bit long). Not to mention the game size would also increase, there would have to be more updates to accommodate the continuing branching story if You are looking at it from an RPG perspective.
If You look at it unbiased, as what it is, An Online shooter with basic level rpg elements to give the story a sense of direction and continuity, You will have fun and really appreciate the game.
The Story, while not an Epic like Mass effect, is just interesting enough to keep You going. It makes more sense if You pay attention to and read up on the Lore, the tit bits of information You get from NPC's and the world itself.
The gameplay is fun, People have compared it to flying around like Iron man and It is. The shooter mechanics are also fun and really well made. Some people have called it repetitive but guess what all shooters are. Infact every game You take, whether shooter or Hack and slash, Especially an MMO, at the end of the day, You are running around either shooting or hacking and collecting loot. There's no different way to shoot but with Anthem Atleast, You can hover in the air and shoot, Play as storm and unleash Awesome Lightning strikes and do so much more.
Visually, this is stunning and plays so smooth. You need to experience this first hand to know how visually exciting the game world is.
Another Good thing is that Bioware have not been greedy like other devs who try to charge for everything. Note I have Not mentioned EA here as EA traditionally try to squeeze every penny from players. IN ANthem, surprisingly EA have acted a bit Civilized . In Anthem, All guns and essential items can be unlocked through progression. The only micro-transactions are focused on cosmetics like buy exotic paints or skins for your javelin. And buying exotic crafting materials.
Now coming to the Issues, Bugs, This is something that Bioware need to address. The HDR on pc looks dull and washed out. Switching HDR off really makes the game look beautiful. So if Bioware fix the HDR, just imagine how much better the game would look.
Reduced Load screens, Voice chat and server stability are other things that need to be addressed. The game however is just launched and future patches should address this.
If You decide to give this a try, go into the game free from anybody's opinions and specially free from your own bias, then You will have fun. Remember, this is not an RPG but it is definitely better than an MMO

Sure, they've got some kinks to work out: load times need to be fixed, and can we PLEASE get something other than that one picture of the scar to look at? But this game has huge potential.

If you're coming in to Anthem for a fully complete, comprehensive story, then you'll be disappointed. There are threads of a story here, and it's very much like the first episode or two of a television series. You get just enough to make you curious, but not enough to satisfy.

If you're coming into Anthem for a third-person shooter with some pretty decent mechanics, then you'll have fun. In this case it's like Destiny, where you could blast through the story, then not have much to do until the next set of content came out. You would still run through the EDZ, or the old Cosmodrome, gathering materials to make yourself stronger. End game Anthem is much the same way.

Many reviews that i have read on this title mention the beautiful environment, but dont give it much more credit than that.

See Bioware have gone out in a completely different direction with this game way out of their comfort zone and have and gone for a loot shooter with a twist. this is not their usual format and i think that should count for something. Sure the game has a few issues (none of which i would consider to be deal breakers) such as the loot requiring tweaks (now patched), one or two balance issues, and widening the mission variety a little more.

After around 20 hours play, i have found the following.

Characters are well designed and movement is fluid, battle mechanics are done well with no awkward judder or restrictive movement. however weapons sometimes feel a little under powered compared to the enemies that i am facing,
Flight mechanics work well and are responsive, and the customization options add a nice touch to your character.

The main story in the game is interesting and provides the immersion that i am used to receiving from Bioware titles, and plenty of spin off story arcs as well as in game lore exist which is another staple of Bioware Games.

from a performance perspective this game appears to be well optimized, i obtain 70-80fps consistently on ultra quality at 4k which given the levels of detail in the game is outstanding.

Finishing up, i see real promise in this title, if you have not yet played the game due to launch day reviews, i urge you to give it a try, it really is not as bad as the launch day reviews would have you believe, it does have a few niggles, but certainly no more than any other AAA game that releases these days and i would add that the niggles are far fewer than most titles that have launched in the last 12 months.

if you try it and like it, come back here and leave your own thoughts for others to read, and lets make sure that BioWare are given the credit that they deserve so that they can continue to make great games for years to come.

To be honest there is some server problems now end then but the same thing with other online game as well right? All the issues and glitches have been fixed with patches and I've never seen them. People have misused the game true the glitches and then show others how to do on YouTube. That have spoiled the game a million! They have been banned and then scammed the game and produced "feel-sorry-for-me" videos. Take the punishment and shut the *** up b***s!!
I've met no other problems what so ever and just had fun man.

Now to some pros and cons:

+ Graphic is excellent but you have to have a potent PC
+ The sound really good and add to the story
    + The Music is OK
+ The story line is a little bit confusing first but give it some time just like The Elder Scroll
+ The combat system is very good
+ Easy to handle the gear
+ Very easy to "get started"
+ The environment - how cool isn't the environment
+ Choose between missions and free-play
+ Go by your self or with others which are more rewarding

    - Some server error problems now and then
    - Sometimes repetitive missions
    - Enemies AI in the beginning are to easy but not later

The story is weak I have to admit, missions are repetitive (I still enjoy it after 20 hours in game), the dialogues are somewhat weird, the plot is not really there. But I wouldn't say it is such a bad thing, it's just a minor - for me because in this game gameplay is more important to me. It's not a witcher or MassEffect storywise.
Loading screens are reasonable now after the patches I think, it's not too long although I'm using a fast SSD (which everyone should in 2019).
I've encountered almost no bugs at all so it seems to be better as well in this department.
To wrap it up, I think it is a great game for the price you can have it right now, not for the original price. It isn't perfect but it definitely is FUN and gorgeous to look at!

I do understand that it could really do with some more development and it's a bit jarring that you need to explore it in single-player mode, but the combat is much better played with others so it's an odd combination. This has come to game pass now so there's probably a lot of people playing it, without buying it. A very good game, that never quite reached it's potential. Time for a sequel!

That isn't to say that there isn't anything wrong about the game. EA once again has ruined Anthem's chances of becoming something great by pulling of developers from the game and giving them an unjust deadline to submit to, meaning that when Anthem released, there was a lot missing. That being the case, I don't blame Bioware for this, but EA, so that is why anything EA related I am not going to impact my review. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I heard the story EA & Bioware Exposed By Kotaku On Anthem, my heart goes out to the common employees who worked on Anthem, the stress that upper management of Bioware and Ea caused!

I would have rated this a lower score, but flying around covers a lot more area than if you are just walking or running on a map. The game-play of Anthem is sort of based on Iron Man flight power. If you are looking single-player game where you join action random people while playing the game this would be a good game to get especially since you can buy this game for $5.00. This is not co-op friendly game; gameplay is co-op but the other part is you have to go to Fort Tarsis to get a mission and advance your character abilities and that is only in a single player. I did try to play it co-op with my friends but when we were playing Finding Old Friends mission it would crash each time. After I did some investigating, my friends didn’t talk to the right people in Fort Tarsis because of that, their game character abilities didn’t advance correctly. This was the last straw for them, even though they thought this is the best EA co-op adventure game they still thought it pathetic because other gaming companies get their co-op adventure games correct. That being said, Ea should have delayed the game 3 years to get all the bugs worked out of the game.

The Pros. The graphics in Anthem is amazing. Games coming out now the graphics look better, but back in 2019, I thought graphics is the best I have seen in a game like this. They nailed the feeling of flying a Javelin and each one feels very unique. The game is stable as long you play it alone or playing with a random player in the game. Playing in co-op mode with friends doesn’t work because of the single-player-only mode in Fort Tarsis.

Negatives about the game. To start with, the game is in the third person, I wish it had a first-person option. In Fort Tarsis town you can explore it by yourself only, every other co-op game except for a few you can be in the same town as your friends. The jungle gameplay experience is cool, but almost every mission is jungle the gameplay gets boring really quick, it does have some cave missions but it's part of the jungle mission. It would have been cool to have missions on different themes like one in caves, volcano, structures in the middle of a lake, a large alien city floating in the middle of the ocean, swamp, desert, winter area, mountain area, Mission lasting too short in-game some only lasting 12 minutes, it should be more like 50 minutes. It has no cross-play. Once you played a mission you should have the option to select that campaign mission and chapter in that mission. Strongholds are cool, there are 4 Strongholds each of them does look unique in the game but they only last 25 minutes each. No real need for Strongholds because mission replay should be enough.

Final thought. Even though I don’t play it that often anymore when I do, I still see random people joining my game most of the time. if you are looking at the E3 2017 video of Anthem then you will be disappointed, because the game doesn’t look like this. I do think their way too much hate out there for this game, constructive criticism is way more helpful. If you want a single-player game with some multiplayer then that is what Mass Effect is for. After Anthem was out only a short time after release, I heard it made over 100 million dollars and it was the second-best-selling game for Bioware. It was on Xbox Gameplay Chart for some time, which told me that a lot of people liked the game. I think what killed the reboot was all hate out there and they did that to satisfy them. Congratulation because of that, I heard that the new Dragon Age game will no longer have co-op in it.

After a while, suspicion sets in: perhaps EA doesn’t believe in BioWare anymore, and had them release not only unpolished, but basically unfinished product to cut losses and avoid another total rework. [Issue#237, p.44]

If you want to see Anthem’s lush jungle and glistening Javelins, do it right away — this game is losing audience fast, and there’s almost nothing to do after the campaign ends. Or check it out on YouTube to save yourself some nerves and money.

It's obvious that Anthem didn't have enough development time, but had some great potential. It's a real shame, that everything turned out this way. Even now, the game can bring out positive emotions. Hasty climbers have sudden falls. No matter how ironic this proverb may seem, it's incredibly relevant for Anthem.
