Except the bugs and crashes that are all fixable, or will be fixed, the best mmo-RPG fantasy shooter i have ever played. The overall feeling when playing this game is a must.

First I will start by saying that I am a long time fan of Bioware, and love the MassEffect series as well as StarWars KOTR I&II, Jade Empire, etc. Great games, and great storytellers. There were issues with Andromeda in the beginning, and MassEffect 3 had terrible endings, but Anthem is different. At least to me, it is. I have tons of hours into the game, and still loving it as much as when I picked it up. Much like a lot of other Bioware fans I was eagerly awaiting this game. I was not disappointed with what I expected to be in the game vs. reality. I knew that this game was going to be very combat focused, and yet...it isn't. A lot of folks are saying that the characters and story are flat, and without giving spoilers or details, I disagree. The world that you live in outside of combat IS FULL of NPC characters to chat with between quests, and missions. These characters increase as you rank up and unlock things in the game.

I feel the game itself is well executed and despite some early beta/alpha bugs (all of which or most have been worked out now btw). I like the characters, I love the Javalins and piloting one is well done too. The guns feel responsive (and there are a ton of weapons), and the enemies DO NOT feel like bullet sponges. It's rewarding to hit an enemy and watch them react to the hit, or even knock them out of the air if they are flying.

A lot of others are comparing this to WarFrame and Destiny, I have played both and can say this game is different enough. WarFrame is very technical and requires a lot of hours and micro-transactions to "earn" all the frames etc. So far, I have spent 0 extra cash, and have been able to buy a totally new look for a few Javalins. WarFrame has a lot more customization and the number of "frames", but again the enemies are different, the world is different, WarFrame is full of micro-transactions, it's not the same game, though similar.

Destiny is an FPS and aside from that is VERY linear in nature, Anthem is more open as you can freely move and fly around the world, even go under water. Destiny is pretty much a set map for each zone or area/level (pretty sure if you fall into the water, you die). Both games are similar in play-style since they are both shooters, but that is really where I see any similarity stop. Destiny had very little character or relationship building (really none), it was pretty much go to the next level, and then a tiny bit of dialogue (which was all very cheeky and flat). With Anthem, I feel like you get full conversations, and later on you get more and more people to chat with. It has a lot more "character" not to be punny.

In closing, I would highly recommend Anthem to anyone who enjoys multiplayer PVE 3rd Person shooters, either with or without friends this game is a blast. The story elements are great, and the characters you will meet will keep you wanting to unlock new parts of the game to see what or who might be next.

This game to me has broken a funk that I had for the past few months and for the first time in a while I have really wanted to come home and plug into a game. Loving Anthem, every minute of it!

I've thoroughly enjoyed the game play. The story isn't the greatest in the world but I've seen worse. Bioware stories are always better in a vacuum. I believe the dissatisfaction stems from a lack of knowledge. Games of this type never start out fully fleshed out. Vanilla WoW had plenty of issues and that was a pay to play game after the initial purchase.

In all honesty I think the reviewers are likely not fans of this genre or have unrealistic expectations. Sure there are issues with the game. That being said it delivers in plenty of areas that result in fun gun play and a beautiful environment. I've encountered 2 game stopping glitches in 30 hours. Other than that pretty much a great time. Loading times aren't nearly as bad as all of you claim. I've timed them between 40 and 120 seconds. There have been games with worse that no one complained about. Likely it is due to the fast paced nature of cooperative MMORPG Looter shooter style games. You want to get in and out quickly and enjoy yourself. I get it we all have stuff to do. Understand the limits of the situation and you'll manage your expectations accordingly. The Frostbite engine is awesome and produces some nice environments with decent physics and fun gameplay. However, it is clearly a demanding engine. That knowledge alone should tell you the consoles will have some longer load times due to that demand. If you want shorter load times get a PC. I've watched a 360 take 4 minutes to load Skyrim, an amazing game. My PC could load that same main area within 20 seconds. I'm more impressed Bioware managed to optimize the console hardware as much as they did.

All you do is look for room to complain rather than marvel at some of the greatness a product has to offer. Ignorance breeds all kinds of dissatisfaction in a product. I believe there is a correlation to the growing gamer community in relation to these types of games and the amount of knowledge to contextualize what you're actually experiencing. Outside of the technical ignorance there is the financial ignorance. I want you all to think about the last time a standard launch version of a video game exceeded 60 dollars. Offhand it was more than a decade ago. Now think about the cost of designing a game this complex with servers and the support staff to run it around the clock. I don't even need to formally run the numbers to tell you the cost to produce these games has gone up, especially online based games that require dedicated servers. The simple conclusion is that if the cost to produce increases and the cost to sell doesn't they will need to find ways to generate revenue elsewhere through DLC, expansions, or cosmetic goods. This stuff isn't free and a billion dollar gaming company doesn't grow off of giving away their profit margin. All of this complaining won't force the gaming companies to adapt to your demands. It will make them realize they can't produce games of this complexity for a price you're willing to pay. All we will have left is trash like Fortnite.

So please continue to complain and watch every good developer disappear. You'll get F2P trash that was slapped together overnight with the depth and complexity of the play dough my grandmother used to make when I was a kid. I could ramble longer but I doubt many will read this and its just me ranting at the people ranting.

This is a clear case of "haters." I am sure that many of the critics have not even played the game.
Currently the game does not deserve a 10, it is a 7-8 game sincerely.
There are some technical errors, but I have not suffered any. I would rate as positive: -The gameplay is very very good. When you are flying or fighting is very frenzied while the game is very smooth. Gameplay of 10.

I think in a few months we will be facing a game that will mark a before and after.
It's a pity they did not wait to get it out when fully developed. When it came out it could have been a very developed beta. Right now the game sinks content endgame in addition to failures in the loot system that would have been solved if they had tested it before.

The most positive thing is that EA is listening attentively to the community and they are adding big patches every so often.
It is a very ambitious project to abandon it so I am sure that in a short time we will be facing a huge game.

People are able to reach max level with quality builds in a couple of weeks, but to get to true top tier still takes hundreds or thousands of hours. Biggest issue is lack of content, but the vitriol from the launch and the inability of some trolls to let it go has caused them to focus on a complete rework. In 2019 the game had a rough launch. You can educate yourself and learn about the hell the developers were forced to go through making this game, blame EA, if anybody. It had a lot of bugs and the developers were forced to rush a launch after months of crunch hours. It's not that they didn't care, they were burnt out against their will. Many had to take months of leave due to mental health issues.

Throughout 2019 many issues were addressed, but to many gamers, it was too late. Many Mass Effect fanboys were also butthurt that the development of this game "ruined" Andromeda. Gamers are some of the most entitled, spoiled people you will meet. Some even harass and make death threats towards developers over a video game(which are basically modern toys) not being to their liking. Absolutely pathetic.

2020 saw more bug fixes, QOL improvements, and a promise of a rework that wasn't necessary. Unfortunately, COVID-19 happened making game dev's jobs even harder and by 2021 EA saw the rework as too much of an investment.

As of right now, this game is a lot of fun. Most of the content planned for the game wasn't launched. A rework wasn't necessary, it just needed more content. There were a total of 9 strongholds planned and at least 3 cataclysms. Had these been released, the game would be significantly better. The player base isn't very large but there are a decent number of dedicated fans still playing and new players constantly checking it out thanks to being part of EA Play.

Bioware could easily breathe life into this game without a full rework. They would need to just launch the planned content. Add the additional strongholds and cataclysms. Add a few more story missions for the 3 factions. Add a few more varieties of scenarios for world events and contracts. A few more weapons(especially melee) would be appreciated and an increase in the level cap to 40 would also be welcomed(and maybe a GM4 difficulty to go with the power increase). It's not something they can fix overnight, but it doesn't require a full redesign of the game.

I'm not a veteran Anthem player, I've only got almost 200 hours invested, but I haven't completely given up hope on this game or IP. The gameplay is a lot of fun and the lore(if you dive deeper into it in game) is actually pretty interesting. Maybe as more people try it out, more people will realize that it's actually a fun game and EA/Bioware will see there is still something to salvage and money to be made(because we all know that's all they care about). If they roll out some more content, more people will come back.

If you haven't played it yet, don't be a sheep. Play it yourself and be the judge. Don't let other people do the thinking for you. If I hadn't tried it myself I would have missed out on what quickly became one of my favorite modern games.

I don't know, but I have hardly any issues with the PC version as compared to the Xbox version. I've rolled this with my crew on Xbox, and ran into tons of server issues, game glitches, and several other issues. But all in all, the PC version has been a fun experience. AS for the game, the scenery is awesome, the story is interesting. The voice acting is pretty good, but I have heard worse. Not everyone has the power of Commander Shepherd, or Marcus Fenix. When you start to level up, you need to increase your threat level. After a certain point, Hard, is not really that hard at all. So you need to take it up a notch. That would be my only complaint. If you are playing this on normal, your're a newb, or don't like a challenge. Other than that, it's a really fun game to explore with your friends. I have my Setting at Ultra, with a solid 62fps. Running a GTX1060 6gig Over Clocked, and AMD Ryzen7 8 core 3.2. Currently only 16gigs of DDR4 3200, and a 1tb SSD. Very pleased with the game, and having fun. Oh, just a point of interest, you don't need to make micro-transactions. They are there if you would like, but I didn't do that. I just hold on to my money until I have what I want to get what I want. Nobody is putting a gun to your head to buy something. And if you are too impatient to wait, that sounds like another issue for your psychiatrist. I personally will not spend money on the transactions if I can just earn it. To complain about the micro-transactions is just childish. You do not have to pay to play, cause it isn't like those items make you stronger. Go earn some coin running contracts down. As a team with friends is the best way to earn tons of extra coin. I was only part of the way through the story when I bought a bunch of items for my Javelin. Also, just join Origin Access Premier, and pay that little monthly fee, and get the Legion of Dawn edition with the subscription. So you pay, like $12, for a month. If you don't like the game, all of the other Origin games are there for you. Or if you don't like any of it, cancel the subscription, and you lost only the $12. Didn't pay full price for the game, and then you can complain about that as well. But seriously, the game is fun, and I just shared a way for you to get access to the Legion of Dawn Edition, for less than the price of the full game. And an easy way to get out of it if you don't like it. Boom goes the dynamite. People are making life to be way more difficult than it really is. I hope this helps at least some of you. And to the people saying it is nothing new, well, is anything anymore? I have been playing video games since years before a lot of you were born. I have been through the, been there done that, years and years now. Absolutely nothing coming out is new. Except the graphics. They keep on getting better. You look for a game that is fun to play. Period. Nothing is new anymore. I think a lot of you are crying over the fact there is no PVP. Well, that is a good thing. The game was designed to teach you to help each other, and watch your teams backs. It is about friendship and redemption. I actually though the story was decent, but I oh well. To each their own. Many people give Anthem a low rating due to bugs. I don't take bugs into consideration when rating a game. The bugs will be fixed. Saying that, when you brush away the bugs, the game is amazing. If you don't want to deal with the bugs, I'd recommend waiting another month or so to play the game.

If you don't want to deal with the bugs, I'd recommend waiting another month or so to play the game.

The combat is fun and each javelin's way of fighting is unique. You can be an Interceptor fighting up in the face of your enemies in explosive and intense combat. You can be a Storm calmly floating 50 yards up while raining death and destruction down below you. You can be a Colossus lobbing bombs at the hordes or smashing through them with your shield. You can be a Ranger delivering tactical punishment or support from a range while remaining just agile enough to avoid the enemy attacks, but also agile enough to deliver the coup de grâce with your hidden sword.

The story is intriguing and I actually cared about the characters. There is the main story and 3 main agents stories. It takes about 40 hours to complete the main story and the agent stories if you are playing through at a casual pace. There are also a ton of side stories around the city (dialogue only).

Yes, the graphics are amazing.....but what really is important about the visuals is the design. The scenery is amazing. I commonly find myself wishing I could pause the game just to take in everything around me.

As for endgame, there are 3 daily legendary contracts (increased difficulty randomly generated missions with a better loot table), 3 strongholds (aka dungeon/raid), an unlimited supply of randomly generated freelancer contracts, and a free roam mode. What this game really needs, is an "endless mode". I would also like to see some things equivalent to Diablo's bounties, greater rifts, boss fights, etc... Maybe some PvP? It took a while for the other "looter shooters" to add all the endgame content that they wanted, so I'm going to sit back and be patient.

A lot of people complain about load times, and also complain about strange issues that are caused by playing this game with a hard disk drive. If you play this game with a hard disk drive, you WILL have problems. A game with textures and detail this extravagant is too much for a HDD. Play this game on a solid state drive. HDD is a dying technology. Frankly, I'm happy to see a game developer make a game that actually takes advantage of the power of a SSD. It's time we move out of the realm of old primitive HDDs. If you do not have a SSD, go get one, install Windows and your games on it. This will be the single biggest performance boost to you computer you have ever experienced.

For the record, I have 110 hours in the game. I beat all of the main story missions including the agent stories at about 40 hours of play-time. So, I've spent ~70 hours playing strongholds, repeatable missions, and playing the story missions with my friends. I have a ~500 gear score Storm and Interceptor, and ~470 gear score Colossus and Ranger. I think 506 is the current max possible gear score. I'm excited when I get home from work each day because I get to play some Anthem. As long as that excitement is still there, BioWare has done something right.

I give the game a 9/10. -1 point for little annoyances in the game: limited mobility in the city, lack of intelligent AI with NPCs in the city, lack of tactical AI with enemies, no in-game text chat system, and no endless game mode.

I love it and for a fresh, on release game, it's better than a lot at and does need some work look at something like Warframe when it first came out today. I would have gotten butchered in reviews . its like PC gamers are getting fed up but some are taken it 2 far. I like to see what they do with the game for game of life development before they cram an anthem 2 down our throats

After a while, suspicion sets in: perhaps EA doesn’t believe in BioWare anymore, and had them release not only unpolished, but basically unfinished product to cut losses and avoid another total rework. [Issue#237, p.44]

If you want to see Anthem’s lush jungle and glistening Javelins, do it right away — this game is losing audience fast, and there’s almost nothing to do after the campaign ends. Or check it out on YouTube to save yourself some nerves and money.

It's obvious that Anthem didn't have enough development time, but had some great potential. It's a real shame, that everything turned out this way. Even now, the game can bring out positive emotions. Hasty climbers have sudden falls. No matter how ironic this proverb may seem, it's incredibly relevant for Anthem.
