Another Crab’s Treasure neatly combines soulslike basics with accessibility and friendliness towards novice players, including young ones. It offers a cheerful story in an interesting setting and deserves to at least be checked out.

Another Crab's Treasure is a nice soulslike game and its shell system makes us love the game, but its enemies have an absurd and horrible pathing attack that frustrates us a lot.

Despite a few downsides, I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing Another Crab's Treasure. The game's humor was a standout feature that had me laughing out loud on several occasions. As a fan of soulslike experiences, I can confidently say that it's one of the few AA games that's truly worth playing through. What's more, it's incredibly accessible to play, making it a great entry point for newcomers to the genre.

Encouraged by Aggro Crab to try the game out on Steam Deck, I was impressed with how well Another Crab’s Treasure performs on the handheld PC device. Its visuals popped on the smaller screen, and the performance rarely dipped below 30 FPS, often climbing higher, even to 60 FPS at some points. Locking the Steam Deck’s FPS to 40 ultimately made for the smoothest experience, and Steam’s cloud saving worked flawlessly, making Another Crab’s Treasure an easy game to play at a desktop or on the couch, Steam Deck in hand.

Another Crab’s Treasure is a balls-hard Soulslike that was one of the most frustrating experiences of my reviewing career until I gave in and used its game-saving accessibility options. Once the difficulty was better balanced the game’s humor and heart were able to shine through.

The game’s quirky sensibility lends amusing irony to its critique of modern industry’s environmental destruction.

Another Crab’s Treasure may not convince soulslike skeptics, but it's a lovingly executed underwater take on the challenging genre.

  1. Another Crab's Treasure may be one of the most cohesive Soulslikes out there, in how it's taken the hermit crab theme and actually turned it into a playful ARPG with interesting fights. And while it's challenging enough for Souls fans, I rate the plethora of options that let you turn it into a far easier time. This is, genuinely, a soulslike for everyone.

More than anything, Another Crab’s Treasure, is a timely reminder that, for all of their challenge, soulslikes can still be fun.
