    The Best Solo Action Game 2014,
    I was never so scared
    it took me 34 hours on hard, it's amazing
    Mission 9 is such a cool change and flashback that I have to watch the films again
    I'm getting all the DLCs now and trying to unlock all the achievements =D GJ Creative Assembly

    It's a scary good game. I think everyone should play it at least once and finish it, even if some parts are too difficult and frustrating.

    It's a cool game, with very good graphics, good game-play and story. Only thing I didn't like was somewhere at the end where you had to attack it with the fire to further. I didn't really understand why and didn't really wanted to cuz the most time before I tried to not get in touch in any way with the alien.

    It is an excellent contribution to the Alien franchise.

    Pros.: - Story. - Homage of the first film. - Metroidvania style (slight). - Characters (surprise). - Many audio logs. You may feel the events of the game. - Graphical beauty - amazing effects. Amazing design. - Many levels of difficulty. Cons.: - Some lunacy with the Alien movement and his actions. - Long animations of    It is an excellent contribution to the Alien franchise.

    When the game came out i didn't get the hate. I still dont get the hate for it. I played it abit ago and enjoyed alot about it. The alien AI is phenominal, better than Colonial marines by a long shot.
    This game brings the same atmosphere as the movie does and that was the point of the original movie, Give a gripping story and a scary enemy. Well done creative assembly.

    Which is why I was shocked to find out that Alien Isolation is the pinnacle of it's genre. I've never played a spaceship mechanic stress simulator before, but this game made me want more.    I'm not a fan of horror games. Survival horror? Oh yea, give me more of that, but just horror on it's own? I'll pass. Straight horror is boring, and often gross. I don't like boring and gross things.

    Can't say it's a "10" because of bad AI & animations in stealth and combat. And because of the non-pickable weapons (it's a local shame, dear devs). Lost Contact - DLC with Axel!

    The presentation is amazing with just a few weird fast cuts when it comes to the cutscenes and sometimes the objectives are too obtuse and you have too look at the map all the time. So if you try to play as a murderous psychopath its when all its flaws slap you in the face, like how stiff and dumb the humans AI is, being unable to pick up a gun dropped by someone carrying before you find it in an specific location, the mediocre gunplay, the slow item selection, it just becomes more evident the further you go.
    I still think AVP 2 is the best Alien game but this is not bad at all.    … Expand

    As an alien series lover, I loved this game. It is a successful game. The design of the graphics, atmosphere, lighting and sounds in the game is perfect. This game manages to stretch you without jumpscare.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Intro:
    Alien Isolation is one of the best atmospheric games I've ever played. Each part feels good to play and heightens the experience even further.

    Main Enemies:
    The main antagonist The Alien does its part and does it well. The Alien will learn as to be expected as it's supposed to be the perfect organism. Each restart of an area greatly increases the Aliens awareness towards the player, it will scavenge areas that are potential targets and will most likely you will be caught in.

    Side Enemies:
    The Working Joes (the evil ones) also act as a threat you also shouldn't ignore. While they aren't a 1 hit KO like the alien is, they still pose as threat, and can and will hunt you down.

    Face Huggers, what more can I say. They are sneaky, they are what you need them to be, if you wanted the alien, in a smaller form factor, then you have it. They pop out when it's least expected, and that can be worrisome.

    The Music:
    The OST is top notch, it gives a feeling unlike any other. It perfectly screams "run" or "you need to hide and be careful". The background sounds encapsulate the feeling of "look over your shoulder".

    The Weaponry:
    Blast, Distract, & just a fun good time. While saving ammo can be better, when you are being hunted, there is no shame in nearly using it all if needed.

    I don't have anything negative to say about Alien Isolation. It hits all the right points, at the right times, in the right moments even if you've never seen the movies, (which you should!).

    If you enjoy/enjoyed Outlast, you'll enjoy Alien Isolation.

    Giving Alien Isolation 10/10

    10/10 does not mean "perfect", 10/10 means there are no traits that could be improved even if it tried.

    The first 2 alien movies are among my favorite movies. I had the same feelings while playing this game. It is similar in many ways to the ship design in the movie. The atmosphere is great. The sounds used in the game are awesome. The game is as an alien game should be. Fear and tension are high. Surival horror elements are very good. The depiction and atmosphere of space is very good.     The game is on of the best horror games ive ever played. The enviroment, audio, every little attention to detail is amazing. The AI can be a bit frustrating sometimes but once you get past that you get a good but not perfect game. As for the dlc, its not good. I felt the dlcs were way to short and lack value.

    Last thing, is that the way your save your game is ABSOLUTELY unnecessary, which makes this game even more difficult and frustrating. Plus Horror games have essentially no value, gameplay is boring, story is average at best, mechanics are awful, graphics are ok to me. Thank god it was in the game pass.

    Give it a try for yourself, it's not garbage, just not my cup of tea.    … Expand

    The plot and lore is good although some events are quite forced and the end is anticlimactic.

    The game core mechanic is the Alien chasing you while you try to avoid it, hide or use something to scare him. The Alien is really smart and fast doing so, what makes you stay always stressed and feeling in danger.
    The game difficulty is quite high, specially at the beginning when you don't have any way to get rid of the Alien.

    There are several sections forcing you to go back and forth from long distance to switch some controls that feel a bit forced. Are just there to make the game longer and increase the difficulty.

    The most frustrating thing is when you expend 15-20min opening closed doors, accessing terminals, activating switches, ... while avoiding/fighting the Alien and suddenly you are killed by him. Then you need to start over again from the beginning as there are few save points and usually are in the beginning of the chapter.
    Anyway I need to say that without this mechanic the level of pressure and stress will not be the same so the game will feel more casual.    … Expand

    This is a one off experience of a game, its not perfect even thought I'm giving it a 10. Many of the comments and complaints here are more then valid, however it really is one of the very few games that can be called horror (just youtube Alien Isolation reactions). Sadly many games with the title are really more 3-d snuff games.

    That said it is brutally hard (even on normal) and does drag on a little too long for its own good. So much so I found myself hating the game in the end... Everything in this game is made to be perfect stealth game, no jumping option, slow movement and fast hideout. On top of that when you add amazing horror background music, environment audio, futuristic interior design with computers resembling late 70's etc. thats aThis is the most tense game I ever played in my life! Even tho it's 2014 game graphics are still great and gameplay smooth. Everything in this game is made to be perfect stealth game, no jumping option, slow movement and fast hideout. On top of that when you add amazing horror background music, environment audio, futuristic interior design with computers resembling late 70's etc. thats a one star extra.     Отличный симулятор электрика, пришел с завода, целый день провода крутил, рубильники поворачивал и такой кайф поиграть 15 часов, занимаясь тем же самым. Боже храни геймдева и дизайнера уровней, никогда еще не приходилось вглядываться в текстуры, чтобы найти кнопку. На Станции "Севастополь" царит запустение и безнадега - оборудование не работает, все искрит, часть коридоров в темноте, остатки персонала пытаются выжить, сбиваясь в агрессивные банды, и каждый сам за себя.. Все время игрок чувствует незащищенность,Очень атмосферная и страшная игра. Это именно survival horror. Атмосфера опасности и безнадежности первого Чужого передается прекрасно. На Станции "Севастополь" царит запустение и безнадега - оборудование не работает, все искрит, часть коридоров в темноте, остатки персонала пытаются выжить, сбиваясь в агрессивные банды, и каждый сам за себя.. Все время игрок чувствует незащищенность, понимает, что за ним всегда охотятся.. Все на станции враждебно - и агрессивный выживший персонал, и сошедшие с ума андроиды, и неработающая техника, и ползающая по вентиляции инопланетная тварь.. Всегда думаешь, откуда в следующий раз выпрыгнет Чужой? Из вентиляции наверху? На стене? Из двери? Или просто из темноты?..     Easy one of the best horror games ever. I'm the type of person that don't get scared of horror games at all but still, Alien Isolation is very good horror game, beautiful graphics but also very well optimized, the AI of the Xenomorph in this game is a next level. Highly recommended.

Its visually stunning, electric, fun, terrifying, so perfectly balanced - and held me perfectly in its grip of exhiliration and fright right to the end. At times I turned the volume right down, to prevent me from soiling my grungies. Im a fan of Alien(s) and the experience was everything I always wanted,If I had to pick a favourite game of all time, it may very well be Alien Isolation. For a horror game, it remains tense throughout as the Alien learns from your actions and adapts its behavior accordingly. My only gripe with the game is that besides the Alien itself, the other enemy types are predictable and easy to combat - it takes mostThe game is great, it creates a good foundation of dread and does an amazing job fleshing out the Aliens universe as seen in the films.     Finally a game of the Alien saga done as it should. A rather difficult survival horror with the xenomorph that is always ready to put real anxiety and tension. I think the only flaw of this game is the very poor interaction with the game environment but we are still at very high levels

    Truly a masterpiece. From storyline to fidelity to the first alien movie. I've never been a fan of stealth-type games, but this one blows me out of the water and made me play three times so far. Everything from audio to music, alien AI and mechanics feel really polished and triple-A.

    That feeling when you crouch-sneak through sevastopol halls with a fear in your bones, and then out of nowhere Alien pops up from the vents hole right in front of you! Excellent game with unique atmospheric gameplay which can rise your heart beat high.

    Amazing game. Isolation sits on the same high level as Survival horror greats such as Sillent Hill , Resident Evil and Fatal Frame..The Atmospere , progression, combat, everything is perfect as a modern survival horror. Even the highly sucsessful RE 7 and RE8 games borrowed heavily from the formula Alien Isolation invented.

Speaking of another bot (AI), I wouldn’t say the best unless the androids, and the worst were the people themselves because they sometimes felt very stupid. Now talking about the sound quality of the game which interested me a lot, but I don't know for me, it was the first game where I heard which side the enemy is coming from and where it is. The sound quality of the game is so great that you felt like in reality in that game, even the weapons themselves felt real. What I of course also liked was the guns they really didn’t feel so cardboard, of course there were few of them, but they were really enough. The very beginning of the game of course starts really boring especially as you are playing this game for the first time without knowing anything you can really get lost in this game and not understand what is going on here and what I do here (I really recommend watching this game practice on YouTube). In this game, I experienced a lot of pretty jump scare, maybe mostly because there was so much action going on that I wouldn’t even say counting. As a horror game it is definitely worth it. Now talking about the story itself is so simple for you in this game you don't see a lot of cutscenes and a lot of chatter. So speaking of the Cutscene itself, they felt a real cardboard about the voice of the character himself so pretty simple what was most expressed in the voice of the character was the feelings. So the game itself was inspired by the movie and really did quite well especially with the aliens and the whole technology just the story itself wasn’t very deep. The gameplay of the game itself was really fun because we were fighting, hiding from the alien, participating in most of the tense action. The design of the game itself is pretty perfect, everything feels great. Okay now speaking of the same flaws and downs according to me the most dislike of most map it was very complicated and the level design it was so very similar to that detail all sometimes very confusing as with the map. And the bombs themselves were jumping too much, and it was hard to hit the enemy because like a thrower, the bomb would bounce on it and fly somewhere.

    So in my opinion according to me the whole game is a perfect alien horror game as it incorporates into the action of the whole game so worth a lot of attention and worth buying, but the game itself is annoying that there is no practice and most things are very complicated. I think this game and RE 7 are the real games that saved the genre. The story is good, real good. The game doesn't have any bosses, the alien is an almighty being and helps to keep the afraid and tension fueled up on the entire game. The available weapons are perfectly usable for a survival horror game. Amanda is too weak, but all is about the genre issues.
    This is not an action game, it can't be compared with some of that.
    All i can say is this is an awesome horror game. A great one for the fans of the survival horror or the Alien franchise, not a deception like the Mikami's last adventure, The Evil Within, that is very cuestionable when we talk about that kind of game. I can compare this game with Silent Hill 3, and I assure this is in tie wih it. The advantage that this game takes with the Team Silent's game is graphic, almostly and playable obviously, . But Silent Hill 3 takes the WOW advantage. A great game that must to be played, and this is the best part, it is in the Xbox and PC gamepass.
    This game is real good, and doesn't have any defects, the nine grade is because simply and impossibly there are best games in the genre, the only one that it cames to my mind is, for sure, the crown's ultimate jewell, Silent Hill 2. But if you want to play something ike that, you can prove Alien Isolation, I'm not gonna tell that is the most creepy and scary game in the market, but is true, it's the survival horror of the decade. Broadly speaking it is in the style of the Amnesia games and Outlast, the former I have played before.

    The player takes the role of Amanda Ripley, daughter of Sigourny Weaver's character Ellen and only mentioned in passing in the films. It was made clear in the director's cut of Aliens that Amanda never saw her mother again. But did she ever even get to know what happened? Isolation seeks to answer that question. Amanda, a Wayland-Yutani employee like her mother, has received word that the flight recorder from the Nostromo, the ship her mother was aboard, has been found and brought to a far-flung space station called Sevastopol. Together with two WY reps, Amanda sets out for the station aboard the freelance ship Torrens.

    Before Amanda can even set foot on the station things go awry, and as soon as she is aboard, she enters a nightmare on a scale unrivaled by the films. Not only is there a Xenomorph on the loose, the station, having been decommissioned by its failing company Seegson, is already in a steadily declining state of disrepair, and surviving personnel have given to lawlessness and disorder. Critical systems are down, supplies are scarce, people are panicking and shooting anything that moves, outside communication is all but impossible, and the stations creepy, rubber-forehead androids are not doing anything to help, slaved as they are to an unresponsive AI called APOLLO.

    Using engineering tools, scant weaponry and improvised explosives of various types, Amanda must make her way through the station, engaging or preferably evading threats, in an attempt to reestablish communications, find out what happened to her mother, and maybe get off the station alive.

    Of any newer adaptations of the Alien franchise, Isolation is far and away the the highest achievement in capturing the zeerust of the original film. This is a future where the internet and the ipod never existed, a future of mechanical keyboards, toggle switches, cathode ray monitors, wired phones, tape deck servers, cassette boomboxes and radio communications, not to mention synthetic jackets and white high-top sneakers. Sevastopol is not only a flying relic of the late 1970s, it's considered a piece of **** in-universe besides, a truck stop at the ass end of known space left behind by a now-long-past boom of interstellar exploration.

    The primary threat to you in this game, the Xenomorph, cannot be defeated or even effectively combatted. The most you can hope for is to drive it away with flame, and your best option is simply to evade it at all costs- taking alternate routes, using distractions, or even just hiding in lockers and cabinets. A two tiered adaptive AI ensures that the alien "learns" as you progress, making it harder to avoid as the game goes on.

    And the game does go on, perhaps a bit longer then it needs to. A number of reviews for Isolation complain of padding- the game is tense and thrilling sometimes, but between major events are many moments of slowly creeping through corridors and rooms, using the motion tracker and audio cues to avoid the alien, the androids and the trigger-happy survivors, and sometimes shooting it out with them when no other option presents itself. These encounters are interesting at first, but there end up being a few too many of them.

    The tension extends itself into places it probably shouldn't. You are almost never safe in Isolation, even while saving your game. There is nothing stopping the alien from dropping down right next to you and eating your face while you're saving, cutting a panel with your torch, hacking a console or keypad or just walking down the stairs to the transit station. It might make you jump out of your pants the first time or the first dozen times, but as you play, die and reload your save for the nth time you will notice an element of randomness to the game- contents of item boxes, enemy placement and movement and so on. The game is deliberately designed to prevent you from getting trapped in an unwinnable scenario, but you're going to die a hell of a lot anyway. Eventually you might turn the difficulty down out of boredom rather then frustration. Where Alien: Isolation succeeds brilliantly in presentation, visual and audio design and film accuracy, it suffers a bit in actual gameplay.

    It is far from a terrible title, and I suppose it is inherently better then Colonial Marines, through in spite of that game's problems and shady development history I found it a little more entertaining to actually play. It has more in common with Aliens: Infestation on the DS, however, such as finding engineering tools to access new areas. For its flaws however, Isolation was tense and compelling.     Alien: Isolation plays like Amnesia so at its core it’s a hide and seek game. However, it is at least 10 hours too long and it starts feeling extremely repetitive after a while. The level design doesn’t change, you are expected to do the same things over and over in prolonged corridors, plenty of backtracking and unfair difficulty. I liked it the first few hours, but it did not hold my attention for long to the point I have decided to call it quits.

    I can’t really recommend Alien: Isolation. And I believe the best alien game award still belongs to Aliens vs Predator 2.

    PS: The game recommends you to play in hard difficulty. Don’t do it. It is already an unfairly difficult game and hard difficulty will make your experience unnecessarily more frustrating.    … Expand

    i personally think this game is ok i havent completed it because its not a hard game to say but the checkpoints are way to spread out which makes it annoying when you do a good 40 mins worth of progress but get killed by the alien which was hiding in a vent what you could not see it seems fun but the checkpoints are a major problem in the game.which makes the game pretty boring.

    I also really enjoyed the gameplay and pacing during the first half of the game. The hiding mechanics are nice, AI of the Alien is really nice, tension and horror does not just consist of jump scares in a row

    The Only thing that bothered me quite a bit is that after the first half of the game, the climax of the story was reached and waited to be resolved, but the game actually went on for several hours longer without adding much of gameplay elements or story bits. The pressure of unpredictable Alien (thanks to top notch AI) looking for you is really giving a lot of adrenaline. Maybe sometimes games is too hard and frustrating, but the overall experience is stillI've played a lot of games (since 90s) and this one is one of the best I've ever played.     I stopped playing Cyberbug 2077 and started playing Alien Isolation when i got it for free from Epic Games Store and i haven't stopped playing till now. This is how games should be, sega should give lessons to neoobs of how game making works. And I'm not even an Alien movies fan.

    For me, definitely the best horror game I've ever played. It has a beautiful and long story. Jump scares that can not be easily predicted. And totally nice graphic. You really feel like you were in the alien movie. But you are creating the film and it is many times more extensive. It is connected by various trains, lifts, shafts, stairs. Really everything you imagine. There is also a lot of equipment and weapons in the game. Like a shotgun, a revolver, a flamethrower on an alien and many more. Then grenades, flares, jammers and again many more. Then equipment for opening doors like blowtorch, hacking machine, hammer. And finally, a motion tracker to track the alien's location like in movie. You use all this for survival on the ship. Because there are many enemies on the station: Alien, androids, crazy people. But the game enriches you even with parts of the original film like finding the first alien nest. And it will also get you into the universe a few times. The game really really excited me, and I can not find a thing I'd
    say against it. You will go through so many environments, you will die so many times and you will be afraid of every corner. Story and perfect processing will simply swallow you like alien.

    bad game. it is not scary and only creates frustration, uninstalled after about 3 hours of play. where at least 2 are of sections replayed after death.

True, we've got Aliens vs predator games, as well as Aliens: Colonial Marines, but none of them captured the atmosphere of the first Alien movie from 1979, and made you afraid of the xenomorph. Is Alien: Isolation that game?

    The story follows Amanda, the daughter of Ripley, as she tries to find out what happened to her mother. The game takes place on a station in space, called Sevastopol, located in relative proximity to where Ripley disappeared. Prior to Amanda coming to Sevastopol, a xenomorph is brought to the station by another ship, and starts killing people. The station looks great, shading, textures, art direction, it's all there, and it sounds great too, very faithful to the original movie. As Amanda, you need to survive, as well as to find any clues about Ripley, and the Nostromo ship. The main gameplay mechanic is avoiding, hiding, or running from the xenomorph. This is done well for the most part, the xenomorph is not constantly present, but when it is, it really puts you under pressure. In addition to the xenomorph, there are humans, as well as androids, in your way. Androids are slow, but strong, and humans are weak, but carry guns. If you make too much noise while dealing with those, the xenomorph will appear from the vents. You can use this as an advantage, to get rid of your opposition, or it can turn against you. You may also craft and use certain gadgets, as well as weapons, to help with such encounters, although the xenomorph can not be killed, just repelled. It's a good balance of stealth and occasional action, and if the difficulty is set right, the game won't be unfair, or frustrating.

    The game isn't perfect, though. Menus are a bit clunky, there is a small number of occasions set up so that the stacks are really against you. The game falls apart a little bit in the last third, as the encounters start to drag on, and there's a lot of backtracking. There are some questionable story decisions towards the end as well, and the ending isn't satisfying.

    To sum it up, Alien: Isolation is the game we've been waiting for, a true Alien themed survival horror, that does its best to recreate the feel of the first movie. It's not perfect, but it's a must play for every Alien fan.    … Expand

    The game has many embarrassing glitches especially with alien encounters. it becomes hard to know why something worked and now it isn't. The Xenomorph might be very close and looking at you but not see you, then later he can see you through smoke and fire way in the distance. Your weapons become invisible, and will float in the air.

    Opening doors and turning on generators etc, are tedious. You have to hold three buttons to open a door. then overly simple puzzles are used in other areas.    … Expand

Had tried sometimes in the past but the slow pace and not being able to kill the creature (Dead Space fan here...lol) kept me away, I regret that now. But in 2020 with the all "lockdown thing" I decided to give it a try again end was not dissapointed. Being SO MUCH fan of 1978 movie I'm so glad aboutAfter several years in my library, I was brave enough to finished this game... lol. The alien AI is absolutely mind blowing abeit unsettling. Being a fan of alien franchise it is such a joy to see how impeccably this game manages to capture the whole aesthetics of it. So far I am really enjoying it and I like the fact that my anxiety is pretty much sky-rocketing during my first play-through. The ambiance feels very authentic and stays true to alien universe from the first two movies. The story and dialogue is rather scripted, the underlying gameplay is repetitive, the aliensA relatively solid space horror game that does not bring shame to the original movie franchise. The story and dialogue is rather scripted, the underlying gameplay is repetitive, the aliens aren't all that scary, and you never once feel an emotional attachment with the protagonist. However...

    Don't let the first paragraph dissuade you from playing. The AI is good enough to provide a challenge that you cannot Rambo through, although it is a bit primitive and possible to cheat once you understand how it works. The game forces you to be patient and play smart in order to avoid detection, and there is a lot of freedom for you to choose how you want to approach the game with many tools at your disposal. This game is focused on stealth, so if you were expecting an FPS, you're looking in the wrong place.

    The save points could have been placed more reasonably, since there are lengthy sections in the game where it is easy to get cornered and then have to reload your save, losing every bit of progress up until that point. The rubber band AI of the alien also makes it difficult to achieve meaningful progress at times, since it constantly spawns near you. Plus, the alien seems to have a hard lock on you, seemingly disregarding any other people in the game just to hunt you down. Shooting itself is pretty pointless as well since the moment you fire a single shot, the alien will hear and kill you instantly.

    I think, above all else, the biggest peeve I have about this game is that the core gameplay boils down to sneaking your way to one end of a map to fetch or activate something, and then often times having to backtrack to where you came from. The bulk of the game recycles this over and over, and what would theoretically be a quick game ends up being slowed by necessity due to the presence of an alien that forces you to be stealthy.

    Overall, I'm not sure what magic the devs used, but this game never bored me even though there wasn't much in the way of story or gameplay. I feel that a score of 7 is fair due to having missed opportunities in an otherwise promising game. The game is optimized and runs great on modern PCs (although anti-aliasing is non-existent), and it has never crashed on me once. I'd say that it's worth a play if you can get it for cheap ($10-15 or less would be reasonable now).    … Expand

    A great survival horror. The atmosphere of the game is outstanding, and game play is challenging yet fun. Well worth playing for fans of atmospheric and haunting games. Only frustrating at times was the save system but you can get past that.

    The Creative Assembly’s game, however, is cooked; left to boil so long it loses all flavor and texture. For 10 hours, Isolation is one of the best horror games ever made, until a second, poorly made game bursts out of its heart.

    Alien Isolation can be frustratingly difficult at times, but nevertheless it’s easily the best game in the Alien franchise since the original Aliens vs Predator. The fact that the game mimics perfectly the 1970s look and sci fi stylings of Ridley Scott’s Alien film makes the experience even more endearing. By featuring absurd number of “surprise” twists, Alien Isolation’s final act could’ve used some trimming. [Nov 2014]
