Alien Breed: Impact is an nice action-packed Arcade game. 15 Euros is more than "ok" for eight to nine hours exciting gameplay.
-
The brisk single-player campaign is reason enough to overlook the boring cooperative multiplayer. Unfortunately, the lack of blood, same-looking environments, and cheap-looking comic strips let it down.
-
Perhaps more significant are the advantages of mouse-based control, which offer not only more precision but a far better camera system to boot. But while no one will have any complaints about the quality of the port, charging almost twice as much for the privilege is a little optimistic.
-
With a price tag of 11 Euros and some spare change, Alien Breed: Impact should have been a pretty easy to recommend title, but the recent release of the free remake of Alien Swarm has further thrown a wrench in the works, besides the above-mentioned issues.

PC Gamer UKIrritating level design and a poor story are somewhat redeemed by explosive action and a challenging co-op mode. [Sept 2010, p.82]
-
PC Zone UKAt its best, Impact is an exhilarating, old school blaster that's very easy to dip in and out of. But at its worst, it's simplistic, repetitive fare with not enough to it. [Sept 2010, p.88]

After 19 years Team 17 excavated its classic Amiga game and it still has some charm today. But it's a game to play for half an hour a day at most due to its lack of variation.
-
Alien Breed: Impact is a nice game, which could be overworked at some points. But if you are not sure if it's worth € 14.99, you still can download the demo on steam and take a look first.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Technically brilliant "update" of the famous arcade shooter ruins its image with crappy controls and too much roaming through the confusing corridors. [July 2010]
-
PC GamerBut repetitious single-player, frustrating co-op and a laughable narrative reduce it to a mess that's fun only as long as it takes you to realize nothing interesting is ever going to happen. [Oct 2010, p.81]
-
PC FormatIn spite of the suitably grubby atmosphere, you always feel as if you're being kept at arm's length from the slimeys. [Aug 2010, p.101]
