Like your standard Soulslike, AI Limit is set in a dying world that is on the cusp of being snuffed out altogether. Though, at least it's somewhat original in how this miserable state of affairs came to pass.

AI Limit doesn’t have the strongest setting or presentation, but its gameplay blew me away. It surprised me that small yet impactful changes to the Soulslike mechanics create a unique and fun take on the genre. This shorter title is a blast for one to two playthroughs, which is more than fair for the price.

AI LIMIT does an excellent job when it comes to focusing on exploration and exhilarating, visually appealing battles. Its game world is excellently made, and the story, while not incredible, is serviceable. Throughout playing AI LIMIT, I always felt a part of this post-apocalyptic world and found myself in Arrisa’s shoes, trying to survive. If you like soulslike games, you’ll find this one to be very interesting, especially since it offers a fresh take on the genre with its sync rate and innovative bosses. You can’t go wrong with it, even if the game isn’t as long as others in the genre, as you’ll find mostly everything in roughly 30 hours. It has a great art style, and it comes with some explosives battles that make it well worth a shot!

AI Limit is a good game — I love futuristic post-apocalypse settings, I love the aesthetic of the game, and I love how it feels in both navigation and combat. But it is a safe game — it paints very cleanly and neatly within the Dark Souls lines, and it does not try anything new or attempt to separate from the crowd at all. For some, like myself, that's perfectly fine, but for others, it's nothing you haven't seen before. Whether that's worth the price of admission (admittedly, pretty good at $35 USD as of this writing) is up to you, but just don't go in expecting to have your mind blown.

With its immersive visuals, fantastic audio, and surprisingly low price, AI LIMIT is an easy recommendation despite a few rough spots. It throws you into a bleak, tragic world where the struggles of its inhabitants take center stage long before your own story unfolds. Its stamina-free combat adds a fresh twist to the souls-like formula, though some mechanics—stealth in particular—could use serious improvement.

AI LIMIT is well-designed and has interesting lore and characters. However, the slow beginning and bland early levels take away from the experience.

For all its minor shortcomings, like limited build diversity and underwhelming gear customization, AI Limit is still a game that knows what it wants to be and largely succeeds in being exactly that. It offers just enough challenge to satisfy Soulslike veterans while remaining accessible enough to bring new players into the fray. Most importantly, it carves out its own voice in a genre that is chock-full of imitators, and that's no small feat. For anyone looking for a Soulslike experience that balances narrative depth with mechanical experimentation, AI Limit is absolutely worth the journey.

Despite my gripes with the game, AI LIMIT ultimately was an enjoyable experience. Its faults only peeved me as much as they did because I was having a genuinely good time for most of my 20-hour playthrough. However, the cracks in its gameplay run deep, with aspects like encounter design being persistent issues to the very end. If these aren’t dealbreakers for you, AI LIMIT is a worthwhile time sink; otherwise, it remains a cautious recommendation for anyone else.

AI Limit doesn't excel at anything, it doesn't show the world its charms, but if you look at the game as a set of ingredients, you won't have a bad word to say about it. Because it plays pleasantly, dying isn't unnecessarily frustrating, but every undetected attack hurts you and you know exactly where you made a mistake.

AI LIMIT is a soulslike with a strong action imprint and plenty of character. It won’t surprise you with innovative graphics or an out-of-the-box gameplay experience, but rather with how extraordinarily well it accomplishes its goal of delivering emotions to fans of the genre. The progression, upgrades, and weapons are excellent, making it a must-have for your library.

AI Limit is a game best suited for dedicated Souls-like enthusiasts. It delivers a strong sense of exploration, offering fresh ideas and clever nods to classic genre staples, even for those well-versed in similar titles.

AI Limit is a fun game when you're not tangling with the camera. The combat is slick and fast and the gear and skill systems work well enough, but it can't quite stand alongside the best in the genre.

AI Limit doesn't revolutionize the genre, but it brings some interesting ideas that Souls-like fans might enjoy. Its combat has potential, though it's held back by technical issues, outdated design, and inconsistent worldbuilding.

Its budget-friendly price tag, paired with the wealth of content within the world of AI Limit, makes it a no-brainer for fans of this frantic type of combat experience. Even if you’ve never played a game like this before, this is the perfect stepping stone toward “getting gud”, even if the punishment isn’t as harsh as some other games. [Recommended]
