This game had potential to be a pretty fun experience but overall its really lame. Its ugly to look at, all the movements are really stiff, and if brake a limb you are screwed for a while apparently. Its really buggy and the combat feels god awful. This game is in 'early access' I guess but it looks like it's been that way for years now so I have to ask what are the devs even doing?

Many people write general about game, gamepIay etc. Because I have over 1000h on multiplayer PVP experience I will focus about multipalyer aspect ofthe game, staem forum moderators and, servers and theirs admins.
    1. Because "every fish breaks down from the head" I will start from steam moderators. If you will try to write something bad about the game, servers, you will try to warn other players to aviod some admins and theirs servers, your psot will be delated and you banned.
    2. Game mechanism: SUCKS COMPLETLY!!! You need looooooong time to skill up, earn exp, buy perks to unlock recipes or what will allow you to make better tools, bows and other equipment. To reach lvl 50 which will allow you to to start PVP you need about 100-150h of playing time. If you will discover **** on the server or you will be baned your skills, exp, level is lost, It is not moved from one server to another. Therefore now what about servers.
    3. SERVERS: there are no any dedicated servers, players own servers, so admin pay for it and then he do what he want with other players who are tied to their server because as I wrote above, tehy spent teens of hours and now they do not want to start everything from the beginning. PVP is completly broken due to that. Powerfull admin tools, maps, etc. gives playing admin and his friends strong adventage over others. I heard some stories that for donation of server player could get exp/level or rare stuff as gift GOD ADMIN.
Everything is nice until you will kill or try to raid admin base. Then he will use all his power to destroy you like cockroach.
When you will break into theirs base fast you will see that they are cheating, duping items or taking them from cheat global inventory.
My last super embarrassing situatuin about PVP experience was that on PVP server I have been kicked because I killed admin, and he wrote that is toxic to rush 2vs1 and he will ban us if we will do the same again.
If you will try to warn other players to avoid some servers and admins on steam forum, you will get BAN!!! Reason? QUOTED "You need to stop this. Sure you have some personal vandetta with some server admin where you played and got boned. That's great. Don't poison our forum with the crap"

AVOID THIS GAME AND DAMMED STEAM FAR AWAY!!!!
Unless you want to play single player

    A 2020 Review - 7 Days to Die, Alpha v18

    Score: 8/10
    Mediocrity Score: Definitely Not Mediocre.
If it weren't for its unpolished nature - this game could easily be a 9/10 or dare I say - a 10/10. Survival thriller meets RPG-esque builds and progressions. Rough edges or not, this game is an absolute blast and I expect to see more and more content to be added over the foreseeable future. So incredibly close to being a top-tier game. I'd nickname this "The Rust Killer".

Tags: The few words that come to mind are: fun, potential, exploration, and engrossing.

Quick Take: My original review within the first 10 hours was scathing. I gave it an initial score of 4/10 because of how unpolished it is and because of that, I quickly wrote it off as a dismal attempt at a game in a very saturated genre. I was wrong. I found myself frequently recalling how much fun I had reviewing the game. Which led to me reinstalling and relaunching my little, hellish world. Since writing that negative review, I've managed to play 72 additional hours within 2 weeks. For me, that has NEVER happened. 7 Days to Die isn't a particularly pretty game. It has no plot or setting in a larger world. At a glance seems like a very average survival game. I personally made the mistake of jumping the gun and judging too harshly. But why should you play what still sounds like a pretty average game? Because it is fun. Spectacularly fun. That is the #1 reason why I've decided to grade it an 8/10.

    Pros:
    - Incredibly fun. An end-of-your-chair thriller. You'll shirk your real-life responsibilities to play more.
    - Every building is its own dungeon of sorts. Incredibly varied - full of secret rooms, traps, and sweet loot. Also Zombies.
    - Strong RPG qualities - leveling, unexpectedly large skill tree, character builds/classes, and a large variety of quests.
    - Challenging AI. Even at a high level, the game finds ways to bring about more difficulty and more scares.
    - Finally, a post-apocalyptic survival game that could entirely be played and thoroughly enjoyed in a singleplayer mode.
    - Robust crafting system providing an abundance of items, resources, and materials to create a vast amount of objects.
    - Super customizable server/world options. Admin/singleplayer cheats are really, really fleshed out.
    - Can dismember and decapitate zombies.

    Cons:
    - Graphics and physics are quite unpolished. The world is missing a lot of the "filler" objects that make a world look less bare and cookie-cutter. Appearances often look vague, blocky, and sometimes out of place.
    - Vehicle physics are laughably bad.
    - Difficulty scales with leveling, but rewards do not appropriately scale.
    - Only non-enemy NPCs are basic traders/merchants.
    - Many of the non-combat paths seem like an after-thought. Very shallow.
    - Base building is tedious and boring. It's more useful to re-purpose and fortify existing in-game structures. This is often blocked/forbidden on online servers.
    - Leveling becomes SUPER slow to progress.
    - Quests often feel like either a waste of time or overly difficult & resource expensive to complete.
    - Online servers are a dime a dozen. Most public servers are empty/low-population or entirely looted. PVP is awkward and very unbalanced.

Concept: Fully fleshed-out survival game. Strong RPG elements make for a more strategic and complex approach to gameplay. Survive and thrive in a world with zombies that are constantly evolving into stronger versions while also growing in numbers. Looters and dungeon explorers dreamland, which is incredibly important for keeping my attention and bringing back to find out "what's behind the next door".

Graphics: Weak, but not awful. Has continually improved over time, but still needs a lot of polishing. A lot of objects, structures, and foliage look unnaturally places and all very similar looking. Cities are designed in the squarest fashion looking very fake.

Sound: Appropriate for a survival horror genre. Mostly ambient sounds like crickets and the wind. It really makes for a more bleak, lonely feeling within this existence.

Gameplay: Roller-coaster of intensity, energy, and noise. Sometimes the game is calm, peaceful, and quiet - and in a flash can quickly become loud, violent chaos that has erupted out of nowhere (see Blood Moons). It makes for a thrilling, at-the-edge-of-your-seat experience.

Entertainment: Singleplayer brings a more paranoid, thriller of an experience. It's challenging, but also at your own pace. There is an incredible number of places to explore and secret, hidden-away places to find extraordinarily powerful loot. Playing with a few friends makes it even more compelling and entertaining of an experience. Very fun. Very rewarding.

Replayability: The addition of leveling, skill tree, randomly generated worlds, and an ever-increasing difficulty of enemies and points of interest - there is much to come back to. Online, multiplayer servers are a big value-add for replay value.

But half of the fun is just testing what does and does not work against the zombie’s erratic AI. With that being said, this game has it all... survival, crafting, brain smashing and terrifying greatness. The custom game settings allow a great range of replay-ability and variety in each new game. Think you finally have a solid grasp on combat? Think the game got too easy? Well... try to play with a horde every night. Do you just want to build things? There’s a creative mode with the option to turn off zombies. If you want to build hardcore zombie smashers and then test them on ridiculous hordes, well... you’re free to simply change your settings at any time.

Each new release offers new things. Alpha 16 to 17 was almost a completely new game. New POIs were introduced and nearly every house now has a unique dungeon layout.

I got this game during the Halloween sale on steam (2017) for $7.50. I recommend you do the same. The $30 asking price is worth it, if you simply can’t wait to delve into this game.

Blood Moon Nights (you can set as often as you like and even make it random with a lot or a little warning, it is up to you).

    Lot’s of zombies.

Because fun pimps made this game in such a way that people could make mods (free) for it, I do not think this game will ever die because there is a large community of people that make create their own version with special features some can even change the game so much that it feels like your not even playing 7 days to die.

As for Young Kids: This game has a lot of jump scare for new players. We have even seen some more advanced players scream like little girls at times.

Now I am extremely annoyed on behalf of everyone that has paid for this steaming pile of **** over the years. At one point it looked like it was guna be good. Then greed stepped in. The Dev's and Madmole got money hungry, and ultimately through their actions 'took our money and ran'.

There is a catalogue of errors now, from glitches and bugs (STILL), to the more obvious changes. The initial Early Game Stage is now a difficult slog as opposed to a fun experience. Just take a look around at the reviews and you'll see people all saying the same thing. Early game has become a GRIND. 7000 exp for level 2 and a single axe swing is 1 or 2 xp. Zeds are 600 to 800 xp so capping 10 or 12 of them would mean a big fight to get to just level 2. So for players that are huge fans of PvE factors then I hope you like the ASCII image above. Now any decent progress is either grind out 3000 Axe swings or try fight through 10-12 Zeds without a nearby Horde noticing.

This one example is a single wave in a tsunami of changes that went live with A17. No of which were asked for by the majority of players, and none were needed. The Dev's literally wanted to make the Stags a$$hole look prettier rather than balance the game. If you do not believe me read some of the other reviews from all over the internet regarding the A17 release. NO OTHER 7DTD RELEASE HAS BEEN SLAMMED MORE.

So The Fun Pimps. I think I speak for myself, but suspect there are other countless ex-players I speak for when I say,

Go to the end of the trailer. What does it say? "SURVIVAL HOARD CRAFTING" not "zombie harvesting/zombie killing grind".

The Devs need to realize they currently have two games: Alpha 16.4 which will end up being a classic and eveything else that comes after Alpha 16.4.

Maybe they'll update Alpha 16.4 to include the latest graphics, vehicles and POIs for the players who stood by them all these years and to honor the vision they originally held, but I highly doubt it. They seem to be content in getting a 50% thumbs down rating for Alpha 17 on Steam

It bills itself as zombie survival but zombies are perhaps the least threatening thing in the game. It bills itself as survival in general but the actual means of survival are contrived, unintuitive and nonsensical, for example requiring you to possess glass bottles or tin cans to hydrate yourself properly, or needing a cast iron pot to cook food. It bills itself as multiplayer but the community is peopled with loners that you will only rarely see on public servers. The game claims to be many things but will never be good at any of them. Read the 5 most helpful reviews. They are all negative. As of the end of 2018, they all also happen to be true, even the ones from 2015. The developers like to brag about their 5+ million copies sold. That's $100 million, of which the developers saw at least 25%, or $25 million. The company has 14 employees. That means over the past 5 years, the Fun Pimps were paid an average of $356,000 per year to license Unity - a free engine - fill it with prefab assets, basically kick the can making a poor man's Minecraft, and they still insult their customers. After whopping 10 years spent in Steam’s Early Access, 7 Days to Die still feels unfinished, which makes it quite difficult to evaluate. My reason tells me to tear this game apart for tons of bugs and pretty much non-existent optimization, but my heart wants to give it a high rating. After all, I spent over a hundred hours in it and had fun for most of that time.

7 Days to Die, in my opinion, is dated in a lot of ways. Some of the mechanics feel unnecessarily tedious, the game doesn’t look incredible, and the engine is undoubtedly on its last legs. In other ways, however, the game is revolutionary, featuring a core mechanic loop that I am shocked no other games have replicated and a surprising amount of player freedom in its gameplay. If nothing else, 7 Days to Die will quickly become the next Stardew Valley or Rogue, inspiring a variety of new games and becoming the forefather of its own genre.
