Wipeout 64 has everything a futuristic racer needs: A healthy variety of tracks, slickly designed craft, weapons, numerous game modes, hidden goodies, and speed, speed, SPEED! This is a must-have for every N64 gamer's library!

Wipeout 64, Psygnosis first N64 effort, is one hell of a ride that is all about new additions, better control, more speed and enhanced graphics. And guess what? Even the music rocks. We think Nintendo 64 owners are in for a real surprise with this one.
  3. Wipeout 64 isn't a bad game by any means. It just doesn't have the same level of adrenaline pumping action and playability that Miyamoto's racer has.
  4. Compared to other racing games on the market, Wipeout 64 has one tremendous advantage: its graphics are absolutely gorgeous. However, a racer lives and dies by its gameplay, and Wipeout 64 has that locked up pretty well too. The control is dead-on and the courses are well designed.
  5. Sure F-Zero X has 30 tracks and a random track generator, but it is lacking one thing that Wipeout has: variation. Wipeout has more variety and in some cases, better track design. All in all, Wipeout 64 offers a good balance of racing and action.
  6. Doesn't really add a whole bunch of new twists to the WipeOut-elegance we've known and loved since 1995 but you can't deny that the game is an extremely fast-paced, action-stuffed, super slick interpretation of the experience we found on the seminal PlayStation discs.
  7. WipeOut 64 isn't horrible, it just feels like the developer's first effort for the system at times - which it is. The one- and two-player modes are worth exploring, but the game will still likely be disappointing for hard-core fans of the series who expected more improvements after the two-year wait.

The only problem is the astonishing absence of a league mode, meaning that you can only play challenges - which are a little too difficult for the casual gamer - one race at a time which is just plain weird for a racing game. Otherwise, it's a top notch futuristic racer which I personally prefer to F-Zero. Expand

Loved the techno soundtrack at the time, it was the incentive to race around in these cool vehicles.

Cool tracks filled with power-ups (Mario Kart style) that allow you to chase and destroy your enemies. One of the best futuristic racers ever made. The only downside is about the graphics, they are a direct port from PS which is an inferior hardware. Still, this is a very good game. Expand
