    I've played this game so many times. It defined 3d platformers and cemented mario as the gold standard for platformers.

    This game was a very good game for its time. Although the physics feel clunky with today's standards, it was and still is a wonderful mix of 3D Platforming with decent levels and storyline.

    This game is perfect and its the best 3D platformmer of all time. This is fact and anyone who says its bad are probably some stupid kids who are spoiled by today's games. This game is almost perfect, yeah the graphics haven't aged well but that can be said for any game from the 5th gen, there are bugs but thats with alot of games. The music is outstanding, most of the levels are so fun toThis game is perfect and its the best 3D platformmer of all time.     a beloved classic, nearly every mission is memorable and fun and most of the levels are unforgettable. every year the first thing i do is 100% this game and its always a blast. unfortunately where the game is bad it drops the ball HARD, dire dire docks and wet dry world are snooze fests and while i like the bowser levels, all the actual fights are very disappointing. despite all that ia beloved classic, nearly every mission is memorable and fun and most of the levels are unforgettable. every year the first thing i do is 100% this game and its always a blast. unfortunately where the game is bad it drops the ball HARD, dire dire docks and wet dry world are snooze fests and while i like the bowser levels, all the actual fights are very disappointing. despite all that i consider this game one of the best platformers on the n64 and definitely a template for anyone considering making a 3d platformer of their own.     Super Mario 64 is one of the most influential games of all time and my personal favorite. With a great soundtrack, fun level design, and movement that still holds up today, this game is still without a doubt worth playing. If you're into platformers and you haven't already, give this game a shot.

    I never grew up with this game. I grew up with Mario Sunshine and Mario Galaxy.

    So when it was cheap on the Wii U, i had to pick it up.

    An all time classic. The first mario 3d game really has it all. Fun and addictive gameplay. Smooth controls. Many different worlds you can play in and a soundtrack filled with classics. I always love revisiting this game.

Even to this day, the game stands far above anything that came after it - Sunshine, Galaxy and Odyssey all owe a great deal to what this game did for the genre of 3D platformers, and what it was able to do despite the technological limitations of the era it was released in.

    If one were to nitpick, the    A genre-defining masterpiece that deserves every single ounce of praise it has earned. Even to this day, the game stands far above anything that came after it - Sunshine, Galaxy and Odyssey all owe a great deal to what this game did for the genre of 3D platformers, and what it was able to do despite the technological limitations of the era it was released in.

    If one were to nitpick, the camera might be a bit finicky at times, and the controls might not feel absolutely perfect - however, such gripes feel minuscule and unwarranted when looking at how marvellous everything else is. The music and sound design are sublime and iconic; the environments are gorgeous; the gameplay and mechanics all feel timeless.

    Super Mario 64's legendary status among video games is deserved. While it may be showing some signs of age, I fully believe this is the best 3D Mario game ever, and managed to set an unreasonably high bar for all 3D platformers that came after, even among its direct sequels.    … Expand

    I think this game has aged very well. It's still fun to this day. The camera is 100% the worst part about it. It can be jank af sometimes, but this game is just so iconic. The levels are great, jumping through paintings is a cool idea, the music is good, it's just an amazing platformer game. Do wish the Bowser fights were a bit more challenging though, guess they wanted to test the N64 controller

    This is hands down the best of the best of 3D platformers. In my list of best game of all time, this one comes at a close #2, but #1 would have to go to Super Mario Bros. 3. Nevertheless, Super Mario 64 is a game every single person living and breathing on this planet should play, and this is no over exaggeration. Literally all this game is shining

FINE (I'm such a fanboy...), it's still so fun to just kill the baby penguin by dropping him off the cliff, throw Bowser into a spiky ball and give him paranoia for the rest of his sad life and to BLJ into Princess Peach's great grandfather's clock.     The absolute benchmark for not only 3d platformers, but 3d games in general. The movement is so good that you could have fun in an empty room, but it also helps that the levels are for the most part good. There's a variety of glitches that improve the gameplay, by adding extra spice to speedruns. Also, there is an extensive modding community. There is really no valid criticism for this game.

    One of the best games of all time. Excellent stages, a great ost, some of the best gameplay i've witnessed in a game and many other things. You might say that the graphics are not the best but i don't care that the graphics aren't 8K 120 fps.

    The best 3D platformer. I'm a little biased, as this is the firs tone I ever played back around age 8-10, but it really is excellent. The gameplay is great. Only downside is the camera, but to me it's not that big of a deal.

Super Mario 64 brought Mario into 3D for the first time, and did it masterfully as still easily one of the greatest and most influential games in history. While Super Mario 64 did not necessarily create everything it did, its package set the blueprint for future platforming games, and still is fun to play over a quarter of a century since it first came out.

    This game starts legendarily showing a 3D Peach's Castle with a 3D Mario coming out of the green pipe, and into the castle to Bowser's iconic "Bwa Ha Ha!" laugh. This castle serves as the hub for the game, and you are taken to diverse landscapes of 15 courses and 15 secret field areas of fields, ice, caves, lava, sand, water, a haunted mansion, the sky, and even inside a clock. Bowser is fought in 3D 3 times in this game. The first two times you get a key that unlocks a major part of the castle. The third and final time is as the final boss of game.

    The soundtrack for this game debuted many of the most iconic themes in the Mario series and some cases gaming in general, and if you collect all 120 stars, you are in for a special treat.

    There is a special joy while playing this game. You get the feeling that Nintendo wanted to make a historic statement with Mario going 3D, and you feel it every second you play it. You haven't seen all of gaming, never mind platformers, Nintendo, and Mario until you play Super Mario 64.    … Expand

    The game is simply fun just to move around in. It is an overall great experience, and I highly recommend if you want to play any game that has had a significant impact on the medium.

    This is a truly classic game. The gameplay saves 3D games as we know them. This was just Mario's first jump to 3D. But the only gripe I have is the camera it aged very badly. Although it is very awkward to play after 20 years still this is a wonderful game and one of the greatest Nintendo launch titles.

    This is the first video game I've ever played, and I'm glad it was. It is simply fun to move around, so it makes the whole game really enjoyable. The puzzle mechanics are fun, the boss fights are great, and the level design is top notch. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone.

    I could go very in depth about all the things that mario 64 dos well but it's easier to list the negatives. 1: there is none, this game has no negatives in my opinion. graphics are fine and everything else is perfect. I played this game for the first time last year on switch with mario 3d all-stars and got hooked. now i have completed he game 12 times and 100% it once.

I never really got the game until it's DS remake came out and the game was amazing at the time, I can see that but now, it isn't as much of a masterpiece as it once was. The camera isn't the best but it can be excused since it was the first of it's kind. The controls are alittle slippery too and that can make the levels harder to beat. However it's not as bad as sunshine's issues with the camera and controls but looking at recent reviews, it's more the rushed game design than the controls or camera. Lastly the story is too basic. I felt like even 3d land had a better story. It should've gone for the super mario bros 3 route rather than the super mario world route.… Expand

The controls are very solid and still hold up well to this day. There were some creative ideas for power ups in this game. Instead of the old mushroom and fire flower, they added the Wing, Invisibility and Metal caps which all worked out so well and you even had to enter secret levels to be able to access them which made it more fun. The Boss fights were easy but fun, and who could forget “So Long Gay Bowser”! I guess if I had to say one bad thing about this game, it would have to be the camera, which can be annoying to deal with.     The controls in this game have a lot of variety and all can be used in there own way and became very useful for tech and you can just mess around with the controls in one area and can have fun just by doing that, in terms for different controls like the flying and swimming controls give me very mixed feelings, the swimming controls are very mediocre a lot of people complained about the swimming as well I didn't find it unbearable but it definitely wasn't the best, the wing cap can get hard to master as you can't get anymore vertical height but flying around after blasting with a cannon can be fun and finally for camera controls are god awful they don't move in 360 degrees and you can only zoom it out and zoom it back in.

    for the soundtrack, it is very good, the Mario 64 main theme which is the one that plays in bob-omb battlefield is super classic and upbeat, the dire dire docks theme is relaxing except no one likes the level it plays in, it was cool they made a track that fits for a lava themed level and a sand themed level which is super cool no other video game has done that and the most over used theme slider and the slider Christmas remix track, snow mountain. The problem is that they reuse a lot of these songs in different levels.

    in terms of difficulty you can definitely feel progression from playing in bob-omb battlefield and then playing in another stage I wont spoil which tests your platforming by a lot and can take long on stars as bob omb battlefield is more peaceful and open-world where you can get stars fairly easy, and the good thing about this game your not forced to play any of the hard levels at all if your not going to 100% the game.

    I'm going to talk about the levels some of them are great with cool mechanics but a lot of them aren't so great and are just poorly designed it'll take to long if I went into detail into every stage and this is spoiler free so ill just talk about some dire dire docks is easily the worst course its so bland you mostly swim and literally everything looks the same and there's no level design, its split into 2 parts the worst thing is, this is the only stage your forced to do 1 star to progress to the end. the best course is bob omb battlefield the first course just because of how free you are and there is so much to explore and you can just fly around freely to.

    now here's the worst part of the game, its the "bosses" the reason i put these "" on bosses is because they don't even feel like bosses you kind of just get them done and move on and you can literally just leave the boss arena any moment you want and some of them you don't even get any backstory on before you fight, there just there and you get rid of them and then grab the star.

    so there's my opinion on Mario 64, it has a lot of fun challenges, while its a platforming game there's so many unique mechanics to give the game so much more variety than it has although the swimming downgrades your controls a lot. this game is very appreciated but it is to me kind of overrated as people don't look into other details.

    This is a good, though flawed and overrated game. The camera is a just bad; gameplay is dated, based on the 2D '1 wrong move and you die!' style of play. Hazy Maze Cave is an awful level and Dire Dire Docks is dull as dishwater. Mario is unnecessarily slippy and slidy, a poor decision for a platform heavy platformer. Most of the rest kf the game is excellent.

    To further demonstrate how this is not the traditional game, Mario has been given different jumps and moves, while also having the ability to punch enemies.
    After entering Peach castle, the player can choose which level he wants to play, in which order, and how many of them; as Mario 64 does not need you to complete all the levels in an area to advance to the next one.
    Every level is unique and fun in its own way. When you think that the game can't possibly get better it strikes you with a new idea and it does get better.
    I will talk about the music very briefly: it's just great! every single track fits perfectly, sounds great, and gives you different feels that go toe to toe with the level vibe.
    The amount of work to make this game is huge and you can really see it when you finally complete it, understanding how this gem shaped the way for all other 3D games to come

    The perfect mario game! the one that redefined gaming as a whole! Mario games are not very good at telling stories, but damn they're fun! the gameplay is amazing and still the best mario game ever! you can jump, crawl, slide, jump from wall to wall, stomp enemies with his butt, punch, kick and even hang out from ledges. Love this game even to this day!

    - rotating the camera in fixed lengths messes up with the movement

    This is the third-best Mario game ever it's an amazing classic with nonstop fun and amazing levels I love all of the places you can explore it's almost as perfect as you can get for a game. 10/10 would game again

    This game rules. Like one of my favorites ever. Sure, there are some areas that have aged REALLY poorly, but its still freaking rules. It's Super Mario 64 and I wouldn't have it any other way. A must play for basically anyone.

Besides the camera controls and the graphics not aging well, with 15 iconic levels & fun, challenging gameplay, I still consider this one of the greatest video games ever made! I will say, after replaying Super Mario Odyssey and realizing that it wasn't as great as I thought it was, when I replayed this I really appreciated the varied moveset,What can I say that hasn't been said already? Besides the camera controls and the graphics not aging well, with 15 iconic levels & fun, challenging gameplay, I still consider this one of the greatest video games ever made!     Set a standard for 3D Open-world games. The soundtrack is beautiful, but the graphics didn't age well, maybe the gameplay was a bit bad as well. It can get confusing sometimes, especially in Wet-Dry World, and sometimes it's way too easy (e.g. Bob-Omb Battlefield/Dire, Dire Docks). Gets a 8.9 out of 10.

    While it has aged poorly in many aspects such as the camera control, it is impossible to ignore how much of a positive impact this game has had on gaming from 1996 onwards, and is definitely worth going back to today.

    LA historia stiene algunos huecos argumentativos. Ese es el único defecto. La música es genial, a la altura de la de Mario Sunshine. LA jugabilidad es de las mejores. La batalla final no es tan buena como la de Galaxy o Mario 3dLand, pero es aceptable.     The distribution of power stars in the levels is horrendous. I think 7 stars in one level is more than enough, don't you think? I understand that there are memory constraints, but there either could have been less stars overall, or 1 (maybe 2) more level(s). Definately a problem.
