Improvements and additions over time – including the Raid-style events for catching legendary Pokémon, as teased in the original trailer – as well as ongoing tweaks to fundamental systems stand to improve Pokémon Go as a game, but the quality (and novelty) of the experience of playing, particularly as part of a group, is already there. Go could still one day be the legendary game its immense potential hints at.

Using intelligent AR, straightforward controls and that uncontrollable itch to “Catch ’em all”, Niantic have got the building blocks to something really special. To keep this momentum going fresh updates and major improvements to servers are crucial.

This game is a worldwide phenomenon, which says a great deal about how much the fans love Pokémon. The technical issues and the shallow gameplay should have already killed the app, but instead the geocaching and AR make this a social adventure that we will definitely be playing for a long time to come.

It’s exciting to think of what Pokémon GO could become and if you haven’t downloaded it already, do it. It’s free, there are no ads and even people who don’t know what Pokémon are have been having a good time with it.

Pokémon GO is a dream come true for generations of players, but something is still missing. You can't exchange pokémon or challenge your friends and there are a lot of technical issues. However, Pokémon GO is an enjoyable social experience and it would become a must have with the right improvements.

Ingress’ creators have mixed their geolocation concept with the Pokemon franchise that has been the social revolution of this summer. However, it still has a lot of technical issues that hide its great potential.

It's not perfect, but it is special. Pokémon Go uses a set of simple but functional mechanics to encourage social play and actual exercise. You won't love it purely for the game (if battling with friends is introduced that may well change) but what the game inspires is absolutely part of its success. I've gone on walks with friends purely to catch Pokémon in the real world. My eight-year-old self would have exploded if you told him that would one day be a reality.

Pokemon Go’s strengths can’t hide the fact that its initial iteration is a buggy mess on all levels, from server and potential security issues to invisible trainers.

Right now, Pokemon Go is an incredible, can’t-miss social experience — like Pokemon is actually real and everyone is on board — but its RPG mechanics and combat don’t have nearly enough depth to support itself in the long term.

Features can be added, bugs can be squashed, and eventually, everyone is going to be able to play Pokemon GO without any trouble. The things it already does well, like mashing up the world of pocket monsters with the more mundane reality we occupy, and not so subtly telling us to get out there and walk around, it already has down pat.

As a game, Pokémon GO is weak at it's best. But as a social phenomenon, it knows no limits. They make us believe that we must catch them all... But it is they who've captured us.

I'm a hardcore pokemon fan and it pains me to admit that Pokemon GO is an unfinished product that still requires some work. It's hard to fairly grade such a social phenomenon so soon, especially when it can provide real fun. Walking around your own city, meeting other players and pokemon is really cool but right now Pokemon GO is just a good idea that has not reached its full potential.

Pokémon GO isn't really good in communication with players, does not run smoothly and an additional content is necessary. It's a mix of augmented reality and the desire to catch all the popular Pokémon, however, provides a pleasant feeling of discovery, you hardly get anywhere else.

Pokémon Go is slim on the gameplay and the app itself has severe issues that need to be fixed, but the experience of getting out there and playing the game is great. Pokémon Go and the general love of Pokémon is giving people a chance to connect with each other and have fun. It has issues, but Pokémon Go is still worth the hunt.

Pokémon Go is a surreal experience, and you wonder when the coolness of all this will wear off. But it’s a decidedly Nintendo experience too, steeped in solid gaming fundamentals that should help it maintain a hold on a vast part of its currently massive audience.

An innovative formula can't save the new Pokémon craze from inherently shallow gameplay

Despite technical faults and chronically strained servers, Pokémon Go managed not only to spark my initial curiosity but kept me motivated – in its weird, strange way that defies all gaming definitions.

Despite being a pedestrian and uninspiring experience, it’s still conquered the hearts and minds of millions, and while I don’t know why, I’m still firing the thing up every time my dog goes out to take a shit, because there could be an Ekans out there.

This location-based Pokémon game does the bare minimum in the Pokémon and game departments, but somehow creates some appeal nonetheless.

Their answer is to ban first, questions later no matter what. There is absolutely no balance to the game, especially true for rural or suburban players who live far from any pokestops or gyms. Niantic is not addressing this at all, they are sweeping this problem under the proverbial rugs, so unless you live in a large city like NYC, you will have an extremely hard time playing PoGo.

To prove how severely unbalanced and unfair the game is, I did a comparison ""test"", using a GPS spoof on an emulator (yes cheating) playing in New York's central park, and travelling at walking/running and bike speed only, it took just over a day playing for about 4 - 5 hours in two sessions to reach trainer level 20, and capture around 95% of all the current pokemon in the G1 pokedex, and without warping around to capture rare pokemon.

Compared to my 'legitimate' account in my area, that took just over a month to reach trainer level 20, and only only fill a small % of the pokedex, often I had to travel more than 5+ miles just to find any amount of pokestops to fill up on pokeballs, now tell me - where is the balance? Perhaps, NYC should have 900 of its 1000s of pokestops, gyms and massive spawn points removed?

Players complaining because of cheaters should be forced to play the game with little to no ability to play before judging- I call out players living in areas with large amounts of stops/spawns/gyms cheaters in that respect, but ultimately it doesn't really matter who uses IV checkers/PokeVision/GPS Spoofers, eventually they'll ban everyone, heck even people who haven't been cheating are getting banned so..

To avoid alot of this mess to begin with, Niantic should have balanced the game so much better and cater to every player no matter the location but they didn't so any really its their fault there are so many issues, unfortunately the games popularity surge clouded their judgement, and corporate greed took over any common sense, and as such - this game is doomed to fail hard sooner or later and so it should, this could have been something special if more time and care was taken - but in the end, proved to by an over-hyped cash grab by a pitiful company, and has alot of fanboys defending it.
