Yikes... Blizzard made a big stinky pay to win pile of garbage. Avoid so they can finally learn their lesson. i watched a direct comparison video showing dungeon loot with and without paying, dozens of legendaries with a $20 payment vs only small amount of epic loot if you play for free.

This is just a greedy mistake of a game and the best word to describe it is "Disgusting".

Taking the micro out of micro transactions. They’re fishing for whales and ruining the game which WOULD be a very decent game without it. I would rather pay say $30 (or less, probably much less) upfront and strip all pay to win out of the game but that’s not why they made it.

So, making a video game for the pure sake of reusing assets and make money, is against that intention, someone can make a decent game with that philosophy, but no great game would ever be created with that intention.

It's a huge boring grind... It's a game for fun for a few days, until you hit the pay wall. You have two options, PAY to progress or make another character rinse repeat.

Some other bad things about the game:

Cosmetics are not account bound, they're character bound. One cosmetic PER character. Also they have a subscription fee, 5.00... Cheap right? DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, its a GATCHA scheme. You will be like I already spent five bucks what's another ten dollars going to hurt. It's going to hurt after you realize in 24hrs to spent 100 bucks.

So Blizzard had a choice: do we change a small thing so our game can be enjoyed by our fans (who can still buy cosmetics etc.)...OR do we just give them the middlefinger with a complementary "sucks to be you" and just not bother, at all. They had the choice. They chose.

The irony is that in a franchise that deals with devils, sins and corruption, that this is where Blizzard gave in to greed.

They chose money over fans. I know this may sound like entitlement, but they chose "if we have to do a small thing for you to enjoy our game, well **** you". The cynic in me finds it hard to shed the idea that somewhere, at some point, they decided "we can't make as much money of em as we want, so let's just ignore them."

It's a true, full diablo game with everything I've love about it for decades. I'm level 30 and could wish for more. It's deep, engaging, great looking, huge and the rest of what I wanted. It does have a push to paid content, but I'm ready to put up with this to see new regular content coming out for the next 5-10 years, it's just the rules of the business.

Optimization to play on PC is also terrible and design choices are illogical/counter intuitive. Together with pay to win model and artificial road blocks made me drop the game after 5h.

I can't tell if they wanted the classic WASD movement or drag the mouse to move, but with both in the game it screwed me over on the positioning.

The map design is definitely on Diablo 3 side, where it's less open field and more tight corridors. You have to follow that designated path.

The gameplay.... sigh, the gameplay.... It's an insult to even call this a Diablo game. It plays like every other generic mobile RPGs on the market.

Also, this game is always online (At least I think it is?), so you are forced to see other players running around, ruining the immersion of "you are the chose one!" theme. The chat is super toxic. Like, I saw racial slurs, death threats, anger, all because someone had a legit complaint for the game

I feel the worst part is there is a solid lore with interesting NPCs to meet, both new and familiar, but the gameplay has made me not wanna go through the trouble.

Really hope this game dies soon.

    Played two hours.

Gameplay is super easy - casual. Just run around press attack and you will win each battle. No need to think at all. No hardcore mode of course. Gameplay is a 2/10. Microtransactions are everywhere. Someone on reddit & various YouTubers made videos about it. Apparantly it costs 100.000 $ to level a single gem to max level or you need to play for 42 years.

Microtransactions are everywhere. Someone on reddit & various YouTubers made videos about it. Apparantly it costs 100.000 $ to level a single gem to max level or you need to play for 42 years. Ridiculous. They also have a endgame tier hero level called Immortal which you can basically only achieve if you pump thousands of dollars into this "game". So basically this game is a max level on predatory "microtransactions" or should we rather say "macrotransactions". Blizzard promised to have only cosmetic items and no p2w in this game and blatantly lied to us. 0/10.

Graphics. Used a lot of assets and monsters from Diablo III. Feels sloppy and cheap. Many people say this is great, but I do not see it. The template for controller and hero actions has been copied from another of their games and also the menu layout. Outsourcing the game was the worst idea Blizzard has done in a while. They should have designed the whole flow of the game - UI, battle system, but instead chose to be lazy. 2/10.

Overall thanks to predatory tactics and lies to the community when they said "only cosmetic" and no p2w I gladly rank this "game" a 0 out of 10.

Save yourself some time and install a good game like stardew valley or some other game where you pay once and the developer actually is not about preying on problem gamblers. The gaming companies lie to you when they say "whales" are rich people. In fact research shows the most spending in these games comes from people with low education that are actually not rich at all. It is the same as with problem gamblers in casinos. You see rich people gamble all their money away not very often do you? There needs to be regulation on these games so these gaming companies can not get away with this bs. Max spending per game per month is a simple solution Apple and Google could easily implement to stop this bs once and for all in no time. Regulation on lootboxes also needs to happen. Lootboxes against real money must be for 18+ at all times.

Immortal is a good Diablo game. Kill monsters, get loot, kill more monsters get more loot. Gear your toon up, kill all the monsters. The gameplay is smooth and the characters and monsters are crisp and clear. Want to use your phone as a display? Connect a controller. Want to play on PC? You can do that too. If you want to upgrade items quickly, you can buy crafting materials and gems, but can be found normally during the game by completing specific dungeons. After completing the story dungeon, you can also buy a one-time chest with additional rewards. You can purchase a Battle Pass to get more rewards for progressing through the season, but there is also a free version. That's all.

Other things: although the successive locations you visit during the campaign require a specific character level, it is very rare that you need to catch up with a level (usually you already have a sufficiently powerful character). Even so, there are a lot of things to gain in the game: daily quests, journal goals, random dungeons, dungeon challenges. Only once did I have to do a classic monster grind. I wasn't a fan of Diablo, but I have a lot of fun playing it. I have been playing for about 10 hours since yesterday. A friend of mine said this game was basically simplified Diablo 3, but I didn't play it so I don't have a comparison. The PC port is lazy at best, but playable. You just have to get used to clicking the mouse on a typical mobile interface, which at first seems strange and unintuitive, but you can get used to it. There is also full gamepad support. I am not a fan of mobile games or Diablo series or hack&slash in general, but I was really hooked by the game and I will definitely finish the story but I don't know if I will be playing endgame

Doesn't feel like a diablo game at all

Diablo Immortal is just horrendous predatory garbage that absolutely ruins the good name of the franchise in order to make some quick cash from whales. Everything about this game isn't really true to the style of Diablo at all, if anything its like a mixture of LOL and Lost Ark had a hybrid baby together that wants to charge you money for even looking at it, also once again clearly shows the disparity between critics and user reviews, stick to the user reviews on this one.

Lets literally start with the very large elephant in the room, the massive amounts of MTX - literally they want to charge you for everything, and even has a monthly subscription fee too if you really want to throw money at the game. Now, when MTX is done right and doesn't effect the game such as pure cosmetics then people can argue and debate how this doesn't really affect the game, unfortunately like with most mobile based games, Diablo Immortal does not and is exceptionally pay to win especially so in PVP and basically any competitive modes, sure you 'can' grind and grind and maybe get some legendary gems but the people who pay will always have a far superior advantage over free players and honestly, did anyone expect otherwise?

Graphics, on PC they are utter garbage with huge HDR issues and the brightness dialed up to 9000 with limited options to change resolution or really anything, basically it's near broken so I cannot honestly give a true review without playing it on a significantly powerful phone to compare graphics so for now, I'm just going to say for high end PCs is that the graphics and settings are broken. The same can be said for controls, the PC controls are also pretty broken with controller issues and let me tell you, this game needs a controller - even using mouse/keyboard it wasn't nearly as fluid or easy as the 'real' Diablo games and I'll explain why in the next paragraph.

The game is needlessly difficult, and gets more and more difficult as you progress through the story. Bosses are absolutely horrendously designed, often you are fighting in a small, confined areas akin to Duriel in Diablo 2, except add in poor controls and really easy to misclick, get stuck in scenary will quickly lead to you dying, oh and did I mention each and every boss....every boss has multiple lives? Simply taking a boss down to 0HP isn't enough, no no no - every boss must be killed usually 3+ times, each time you take its health bar down it'll give you a few health orbs and you gotta start the process all over again and considering that many bosses are either broken or OP - it gets annoying and frustrating FAST, add into the mix no life leech abilities and you get just 3 health potions that slowly regenerate over time....general health orbs outside of boss fights are also extremely rare too which feels like the player is needlessly gated constantly and you don't naturally regen HP over time so you must wait for health potions to regenerate or hope for a HP orb to drop.

Boss mechanics are atrocious and broken, honestly it feels like someone tried to copy mechanics from World of Warcraft and apply them here, it just doesn't work. Some bosses are so overpowered that you can literally get stuck dead in your tracks, and some bosses are cheap - skeletal mage for instance, can cast homing energy bolts and a freeze ray attack that shoots through all solid objects and will fire off screen and can cause heavy damage to the player getting caught in it, it's so pathetic and I'd like to say that is just a rare broken boss? It isn't ~ as you play you'll quickly discover that any ranged/caster mobs and bosses in this game are truly broken and overpowered, especially ones that have a near 100% chance to hit you, because the Diablo series in general heavily relies on skills and abilities to regenerate life/mana be it via life/mana leech or regenerating life as you plow through hordes of monsters, this game has none of that....well I could imagine some very high end or legendary gems might.

I'd like to go on and on in detail explaining how truly awful this experience was, this is the game us Diablo fans never wanted and we deserve so much better.

Removing the excuse of "this is a mobile game" The Diablo developers have been stated of saying "We are putting as much development time into this as D4" just because this is on a mobile platform does not excuse this game for being terrible. In fact this game has SUCH good potential and ruined by sheer laziness and cash grab.

This is a D3 rip with all the fun aspects removed.

Skills - Skills are a complete disappointment. No talent trees, no specs, just a set list of skills (limited pool) that your build is based on the 4 you select. No rune modifications, no leveling builds, nothing. The skills are impacted by gear and gems (more on later)
Legendary gear - The vast majority of legendary gear is uninspiring. Basic stat increases, (deal 10% more damg etc) with very few that impact the actual skill and build of class. Most of the major changes happen from legendary gems, which... are the main cash grab here. What fun is the game when you have to literally buy (not find) the best part of ARPG/looters. Building your characters.
Story - Standard faire, they really push you into the cash shop at multiple points in story. Nothing promising here.
Gameplay - The game plays well, but is ruined by the crippled nature of what you are provided with. Nothing different than any other mobile ARPG.

This game is also 'easy', until you hit the end game grind, forced grouping.

    P2W

You may have fun for the first few hours then you'll hit the walls.

-Pay to upgrade your dungeon run for better loot. In a ARPG looter? SERIOUSLY? What should be the most fun aspect of these kind of games, you pay..to find better loot. Okay.
    -Pay to Upgrade your gear
-Pay Battle (monthly subscription) passes for materials to...upgrade your gear
    -Literally buy gear
Cosmetics, Different currencies, FOMO, there is every single aspect of a cash grab present in this game. Why should we accept these predatory practices and limit what makes these games fun. The "epic looking" armor is limited by the p2w system, so give up if you want your character to look cool without spending.

What saddens me the most of this game is they could have easily EASILY spent some time developing this into a nice game, where if the P2W was reduced/removed, I would have easily paid money to play it outright.

Do not play it. Just don't. You want an diablo game? Don't support whatever this is.

I'm bothered by the bland story of the world's destruction, which was vehemently influenced by the online nature and spirit of the game or the inability to change the camera. The game looks and runs very well, and you can also adjust the graphics settings on more powerful devices. I'd leave the disdain for the online elements of Diablo Immortal to the eternally doubting and overlooking, because just as you can recognize a good poem, you can recognize a fundamentally good game. To see it submit to mobile gaming's worst tendencies, rather than make any effort to be different, to be better, is galling. It may be flashy and efficient as both a Diablo game and a mobile game, but Immortal offers little that is bold, ambitious or innovative. Instead, its structure and pacing is designed with one goal in mind: to squeeze as much cash out of every player as it can. [Issue#374, p.110]

It is undeniable that Diablo Immortal's monetization system has problems and makes the more advanced stages of the adventure unpleasant, but the fact remains that the Blizzard title has brought one of the best experiences in the action RPG field to the mobile market, and it really is difficult to find on the App Store and Google Play Store another free to play with such high production values. Diablo Immortal is an excellent pastime for those who want to complete the long cooperative campaign and, above all, could represent the perfect entry point for those who have never approached the series: even without putting their wallet in, in fact, it remains a pleasant adventure to live while waiting for the fourth chapter to make its debut on the shelves.
