    The actual gameplay is not bad. The monetization is beyond disgusting with this game. The fact that you literally cannot compete with whales or upgrade your gear to the highest tiers without opening up your wallet is repulsive. Blizzard truly is dead and I’m not even sure Phil can save this absolute dumpster fire.

    Made an account just to rate this into the ground. The first insult to the community was the mobile game, but we eventually looked forward to it as a in between for D4. Most would've paid a small price just like we did to replay D2 remastered. This micro transaction fest blizz keeping slapping us with is getting old.

I did not, however, enjoy the fact that without spending large sums of money, my drops were basically non-existent compared to those who have willingly sunk real world money into this game. I usually avoid mobile games for this exact reason but as a fan of Diablo 3 and most of Blizzard'sThe gameplay of Diablo Immortal is fun and engaging and generally I enjoyed the time I put into it. I did not, however, enjoy the fact that without spending large sums of money, my drops were basically non-existent compared to those who have willingly sunk real world money into this game. I usually avoid mobile games for this exact reason but as a fan of Diablo 3 and most of Blizzard's other games I decided to check this out and needless to say I am disappointed that they've decided to go the mobile gaming route.     People say "nothing beats free", but I would much rather pay once and enjoy the full experience rather than pay forever and never own anything. You get constantly reminded that you have to buy stuff.

The endgame rewards one can buy aren't even guaranteed to be good, and make other Gacha games I have played look like they were spoiling me. The developers created a bunch of in-game currency that is barely explained and it makes it more difficult to calculate what you are buying is worth it or not, and then once people finally ran the numbers the results were insane on how hard it is to progress's at the end of the game. . I'd give the game a 1 instead of a 0 because the graphics are decent for a mobile phone game, but the developers really wasted my time and upset me to the point I am making a review. I like being competitive in a game mostly, but what fun is it when no matter what you accomplish you look at the scores ahead of you and just assume they are ahead of you because they spent money. Level up rewards feel predatory and insulting, the prompts to increase rewards tenfold at the end of every dungeon feels insulting, and the bang you get for your buck endgame, is a complete scam. The writing/lore is basically "rawr I'm evil and I'm going to do bad things," so you are there for the RNG drops but the developers made it so that drops are nearly non-existent so that you spend money and it just feels so predatory. I think what is most upsetting is that they made a game exactly like the other Diablo games and then deliberately trashed the good parts to make the player pay to have it barely trickled in to their mouth. The developers should have just made a very different game so that their fanbase wouldn't have been misled and then ultimately disappointed. Other Gacha games I can pay $100 for a completely new character, or an insane weapon, but in Diablo Immortal you just get things that are completely replaceable, maybe a fancy pair of gloves, and a small molecular chance at a good gem you can put on gear. You can buy the Battle pass where you have to work to get rewards you paid for, which I am surprised is legal you can buy things and then not have what you paid for rendered into you unless you log in daily... But the main thing to buy is skins which just makes the community angry if they see you wearing it because no one supports spending money on this product at this time. Download and you'll get a small high for free for a few hours, but then you won't feel anything but disgust as you navigate the rest of the game and witness the exploitation, belittlement of achievements, and no bang for your buck or time spent grinding to better your one character.    … Expand

    THE GOOD: The phone gameplay and feel of a Diablo game are very fun and well done. People will complain about boss mechanics or bugs here and there but they're probably playing on PC which is technically in the BETA stage. I like the amount of progression in the game and all the different systems give you a lot to work on.

    THE BAD: Actually progressing these systems properly will take forever to grind or spending a lot of money to progress normally. I knew ahead of time that the phone game MTXs would be ridiculous but the auction house tax is the cherry on top.
    -The story - I was very lucky and got a 5 star gem drop and I decided to sell the gem on the auction house instead of using it. There was gold "fee" just to post the item, this sucks but i was used to this fee while playing WoW, but then It sold and then i had to wait about 18 hours or so to get the in game currency. Why is there a wait?? THEN when the time was up (the next day) they charged another 15% of the price as a "transaction fee".
    SO....that's a day of waiting and 2 auction charges to use an in game system which uses in-game fake currency. Why is there a tax on this again?? And are they saving up this fake currency themselves. It's not like they're actually losing anything. It's just another way to ruin another system in a game that should be fun. This was only one issue i had with the monetization in the game but it really hit home when it wasn't about me spending my money, IT WAS THEM TAKING MONEY!    … Expand

This project must have been greenlit by a multitude of people prior to release- it’s not like you weren’t aware the $40-100,000 paywall wouldn’t incite rage- what this tells me is that there’s a small demographic somewhere (presumably China) that serves to generate suchUnacceptable.     Sadly, Blizzard has a reputation already tarnished by games like Warcraft III: Reforged, where we can see how they rarely fix their games, and they are plagued by other problems and controversies that affected the development of the game. Even if it was highly controversial even since its announcement and it can be seen as part of a bad trend at Activision-Blizzard, I wanted to give it a chance. My expectations weren't that high (obviously) but the game managed to be a huge disappointment anyway.

    While the gameplay isn't exceptionally bad for predatory, abusive mobile games, there is no real reason why to choose it over the many much better options, and as the issues, focus on predatory practices, etc. further tarnish the reputation of Blizzard, it is easy to say: It would be better if this title wouldn't happen.

    If it is "just a bit worse" than "some predator any abusive mobile games with misleading crap" and a "valid option if you want something slightly worse than Raid: Shadow Legends" that is still a 0 value. Even if Blizzard knows that the beginning of predatory game should be enjoyable, and some people can enjoy that part.    … Expand

    I'm of two minds when it comes to Diablo Immortal -- initially I was thinking this released confirmed my suspicions that NetEase developed 100% of the game with consultant art direction flown in from Blizzard, and maybe Blizzard-blessed storywriters to nestle the game properly between D2 and D3. All of the monetization and mechanics screams east-Asian gambling, and as such it targets aI'm of two minds when it comes to Diablo Immortal -- initially I was thinking this released confirmed my suspicions that NetEase developed 100% of the game with consultant art direction flown in from Blizzard, and maybe Blizzard-blessed storywriters to nestle the game properly between D2 and D3. All of the monetization and mechanics screams east-Asian gambling, and as such it targets a non-Western demographic. That would have been fine for me, I'm patient and I'll wait for D4, the game's not for me -- that would have been my response. I called this when they announced it at BlizzCon, and that was their biggest mistake: announcing this to the West, instead of keeping it wholly eastern-centric.

    However, by announcing in the West at BlizzCon it set expectations that it will be adapted for both eastern and western players, unduly setting the bar as high as a regular Diablo release, i.e. hotly anticipated, 10mil+ downloads, must try...which is what we got. But then we all play it, get to the L45+ exp grind, finally hit Paragon levels, attempt to keep up with Battle Passes, rift rifts rifts and more rifts, and collect those sweet legendary gems only to realize that's all the game is.

    Yet after grinding a week in the end-game, I am starting to think that Diablo devs may have had a larger role in this fiasco. This may be purposely designed to be as blatant a cash grab as possible as a retaliatory "fk u" to the fanbois, partially because it can't hurt the company (ATVI is being bought by MSFT anyways), and partially from the perceived abuse they've taken over the years. "Don't you guys have phones" memes have been itching the backs of their brains for half a decade, and some of those guys snapped. This made them want to prove they could make a good game and hide it behind multiple abusive paywalls and 23! dang currencies.

    The final icing on the cake was when I was trying to figure out how to sell 3 on my legendary gems to try to purchase a better LGem only to discover they were bound to me. Doing a deep dive into the fine print, the creme de la creme is that the Legendary Crests and Elder Legendary Crests are indistinguishably visually different yet the free ones that we can earn (super rare, like maybe 6 total in first month?) ONLY DROP BOUND L GEMS. Only the paid, ~$2.50 eternal legendary crests drop unbound gems that can be sold on the AH. So that means even the paying players that play the game, buy the extra dungeon chests they unlock (like Kikuras Rapids Trove for $9.99), buy Prodigy Passes for $19.99, buy daily login rewards from the Boon of Plenty for $9.99, buy the Battle Pass for $4.99 and play enough to unlock the R10 and R25 rewards -- all of those paid players are getting screwed over if they planned on trading/swapping those gems in the AH with other players to try to upgrade their gems. Because those paid options only give Legendary Crests, not Eternal Legendary Crests.

    Great gameplay but, the shameless microctransactions are just discusting. You have layers over layers over layers of things you get for free in the diablo games just by playing and progressing. Gave up after a few hours when i realised the depth of their greediness

    Game was fun until endgame, then it become the most insufferable, pay 2 win garbage.
    The monetization is most scummy, disgusting and anti-player I ever seen.

    I was little 'meh' on countries like Belgium banning lootbox games after Battlefront, but after playing this I'm convinced that government intervention is the only way to stop predatory monetization in games.

    Game could have been great, but the longer you play the more you realize it's main purpose is to make you pay as much as possible (especially noticeable after hitting level 45), not making you have fun.

    We need to stop this trend on Diablo games before it is too late for Diablo 4

    I'm bothered by the bland story of the world's destruction, which was vehemently influenced by the online nature and spirit of the game or the inability to change the camera. The game looks and runs very well, and you can also adjust the graphics settings on more powerful devices. I'd leave the disdain for the online elements of Diablo Immortal to the eternally doubting and overlooking, because just as you can recognize a good poem, you can recognize a fundamentally good game.     It is undeniable that Diablo Immortal's monetization system has problems and makes the more advanced stages of the adventure unpleasant, but the fact remains that the Blizzard title has brought one of the best experiences in the action RPG field to the mobile market, and it really is difficult to find on the App Store and Google Play Store another free to play with such high production values. Diablo Immortal is an excellent pastime for those who want to complete the long cooperative campaign and, above all, could represent the perfect entry point for those who have never approached the series: even without putting their wallet in, in fact, it remains a pleasant adventure to live while waiting for the fourth chapter to make its debut on the shelves.
