This competitive, card-based tower defense game crams a lot of depth and satisfying gameplay into small, bite-sized bursts of fun.

Clash Royale is one of those rare games that not only gets everything right, but does so while trailblazing a new formula for mobile games.

I encourage everyone to give this game a try, even if you're a vigilant hater of free to play. Monetization methods aside, you'll still be able to see what a clever formula Supercell has stumbled upon to here with this hybrid of card games, strategy games, and MOBAs.

A mobile game that thinks outside the box, and does it brilliantly. Expect to be hearing about Clash Royale clones in the not-too-distant future.

Clash Royale tweaks the formula of its predecessor and delivers an incredibly addictive and well-balance experience. Yes, there are in-app purchases, but even if you choose not to pay, you can still enjoy the latest game by Supercell.

Clash Royale is a nice, little MOBA that will keep you entertained for hours thanks to a solid online multiplayer and a well made progression system.

Clash Royale is actually a fun gun and really well designed version of MOBA genre for mobile. It isn’t just a cruel revenue model. [Feb 2016]

Royale’s latest update has now had a month to bed-in, and it’s a welcome change. The two-tier battle pass has been slimmed down to one – the free version now considerably more generous – and the shards needed to buy evolutions are easier to come by. A fix for the game’s creaking clan wars system is presumably in the works, but this already feels like a big step in the right direction.

Another fantastic new card action adventure game from the creators of Clash of Clans.

Buy card packs with your gold, or with real money. It’s made plenty of profit for Blizzard. But SuperCell weren’t satisfied with that. Instead, they chose the greedy path with Clash Royale and made what could have been a truly great game into merely a very good one.

If you can handle popping in and out just a few times a day to crack your chests, collect some crowns, and summon some archers, you’re in for a great time.

Despite simple rules Clash Royale has enough ingredients to stay enjoyable for a long time. [05/2016, p.74]

Clash Royale is an accessible strategy game with quick online duels that is worth picking up, but is a bit simple with a grinding free to play system over the long term.

This game I loved at first, till I hit the massive slap in the face that woke me up.

First lets get this out of the way, this game is pay-to-win,if you buy gems, like clash of clans, you can zoom to get maxed out.

    Here are the positive things
-It creates a RTS style game with cards, which I honestly haven't seen at all, although i'm sure some other game has done it
-The beginning is amazing! Its just nice and well presented
You can have friendly battles with your clan-mates,you essentially just play them without any risk, clash of clans NEEDS a system like this.
-The progression is done well.Leveling up definitely feels rewarding.
-Graphics are relatively nice for a mobile game
    Negatives
-Matchmaking is outright broken, for all intents and purposes,it is the clash of clans search finder, however in clash you can choose who you can battle, you can't here.Which means you get played against people that have FAR better cards then you do.
-Game is completely unbalanced with a lot of cards,if you don't have these specific cards you will simply lose when you face against someone who does, such as the skeleton army, which can wipe out 3-4 cards with little effort
-Game is pay to win,I already mentioned this so I won't go into detail
-You essentially can only play a worthwhile battle every 3 hours, maybe more, since chests take a long time to open
-There is no way to discard unwanted chests, lets say you only want to open gold chests, not silver ones.To bad,you can't get rid of the silver chests.
-Map are small, you get 8 maps, all are the same just re-textured,a river in the middle, with two bridges and the two players on both sides. That's all you get when you battle, make a variety with maps,to allow for different strategies!
-The card count is limited,it may seem extensive at first, but card game hearthstone has over 400 cards,Royale has 49,49!.

This game is really a four out of ten,but the fact that you can pay money and immediately become max level, along with they shove buying gems in your face with the chest timers just make me have to take off a point.Free-To-Play model problems

However, this game is one of the most overrated game I have ever encountered. First, it is extremely repetitive, with little variation to keep it interesting. Certain cards are too strong and too easily obtainable, which created a balance issue. Another issue is the positively absurd chest opening timers. 8 hours for one measly gold chest. This pay to win formula will not work this time. Full Review »
