An average arcade demolition game that does have a good range of features but suffers from game play that is basically the same thing over and over.
-
As deep at a kiddy pool.
-
With how quick the missions move, the whole thing gets glazed over. Having the graphics of the Xbox game could have really benefited this port. Multiplayer mode does not save the title, only hurts its image.
-
How on earth doesnt this game have a simple auto-save feature?
-
Frustration is high when playing Wreckless, time limits are short, and the arrow is useless when it points through a brick wall, controls can be awkward and traffic is dense and irritating, never feeling the need to move out of the way of the large truck heading down the wrong lane.
-
The fact is that there are games on both the PS2 and GameCube that easily outclass this one in everything it sets out to do.
-
Play MagazineWhile it doesn't look nearly as good as it did on Xbox, it plays a lot better on the 'Cube with added difficulty, all-new adventures (including Dragon romps) and rocket power! [Dec 2002, p.84]
-
Cheat Code CentralYou aren't going to get a lot of replay value out of it, but if you like things a little on the "quirky" side of gaming, at least give it a test drive.
-
The biggest gripe I have is that the game lacks analog control over acceleration and braking.
-
Without the gorgeous visuals to distract from its troublesome gameplay mechanics and simplistic mission objectives, Wreckless doesn't have much going for it.
