The most important thing about this game is that it's realistic, which means that the immersion value is definitely higher than in a fantasy game like "TimeSplitters 2."
-
Game InformerYou've got agood story, great graphics, solid gameplay, an interesting assortment of weapons, and cinema-quality music... what's not to like? [Dec 2002, p.126]
-
While not quite as polished as the mighty "TimeSplitters 2" from EIDOS, Frontline offers a great deal of FPS entertainment with an atmosphere that simply can't be beaten.
-
It would be easy to dismiss it as a PlayStation port but it's a top game in it's own right, if you're prepared to look beyond the occasionally ropey visuals.
-
Nintendo PowerThe D-Day mission is one of the most intense and awesome levels I've played in a long time. [Jan 2003, p.171]
-
With good gameplay, amazing sound and absorbing atmosphere, Frontline is a great title not to be missed.
-
The game's level and mission design are extremely well done and provide an ample amount of different activities, keeping the gameplay fresh from start to finish.
-
The production values for Frontline are way up there, and with great voice acting, cool FMV cutscenes, and more atmosphere than most other FPS titles, the game is a winner for WWII action fans and newbies alike.
-
netjakGamers hoping for the next GoldenEye will be dissapointed with Frontline's mediocre multiplayer, but will have no trouble falling in love with the solid one player campaign mode. As far as first person shooters on the GameCube go, Medal of Honor: Frontline is pretty dang good.
-
Cheat Code CentralFrontline isn't quite as action intensive as "TimeSplitters 2," but it's head and shoulders above "Turok Evolution."
-
The sense of atmosphere in MOH is magnificent. It really immerses you in the environment and makes you feel as if you're really starring on the front line of a massive war.
-
Multiplayer is less fun than trading dead bugs, and the one player game is about as linear as a novel.
-
World War II buffs will certainly enjoy this game, but if you're looking for a great GameCube shooter, you'll probably want to look elsewhere.
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyThe game's family-friendly, white-washed Teen rating siphons out a lot of the potentially gritty realism. [Dec 2002, p.236]
-
When enemies appear in the same place and use the same simple attack patterns, the game becomes more monotonous than fun.
-
Of greater concern are the problems with the hit detection -- far too frequently, an enemy soldier is only stunned by a bullet through the head. Predicting how many body shots an enemy can absorb before death is nearly impossible.
