Game InformerThe shooter is a dying breed, but Namco has found a way to revitalize it and make it contagious for both hardcore role-players who seek something fresh and twitchy fingered gamers who have long waited to see this genre evolve. [Aug 2005, p.109]
-
Nintendo PowerSSS has great characters, a smart story and good-humored sensuality (but no belly dancing.) [Sept 2005, p.83]
-
Play MagazineThe best thing to happen to shooters in a long time. [Aug 2005, p.54]
-
Obviously an effort that the developers poured their heart and soul into, and it shows. Everything about it is high quality and imbued with skill and care.
-
It's difficult to recommend this game, because it is aimed at a very specific niche. But I will say that if you dislike shooters or aren't very skilled at them, definitely try before you buy.
-
If you're going into Sigma Star Saga looking for the next R-Type or Thunder Force, you'll be sorely disappointed. But if you want a good, solid GBA game that brings something new to the table, it's a shoo-in.
-
An absolutely beautiful game with great artwork, graphics and sound. If given a bit more time SSS could have been one of the GBA's premiere RPGs with its strong story and wonderful production.
-
This is a tale of two definitely enjoyable but average games melded in a compelling, yet innovative manner. It comes with a reasonably interesting plot, moderate replay value with its four endings and bonuses on replays.
-
Is the game perfect? No, it has some problems, but if you are willing to look past the little qualms, you will be surprised at what a remarkable game Sigma Star Saga really is.
-
Nintendo GamerIf you fancy saving the world from aliens on your DS, this is worth having a spin on. [Oct 2006, p.70]
-
Though it strives to be something more significant, Sigma Star is basically a perfectly decent RPG cross-bred with the most uninspired shoot-em-up to be seen in ages.
