The game is fast and smooth, with colourful graphics and easy to control characters. The action is non-stop and there are loads of missions, requiring your expert skills.
-
The game's huge selling point is it's absolutely awesome attention to multiplayer gaming.
-
Pocket GamesExtremely polished from start to finish, and a worthy addition to any FPS fan's game library. [Spring 2002, p.38]
-
It does not have the extensive room-searching and switch setting that "Doom" has, but it also is a little easier on the eyes and infinitely more intuitive -- it's pick-up-and-play first-person shooting at it's most entertaining and visceral level.
-
The pixelated graphics wont immediately rock your world, but the more you play the more youll marvel at the smooth animation, cleverly designed levels, and awesome infrared effects.
-
It's a short but wholly entertaining first person shooter, made more so by its intriguing setting and plot.
-
Definitely recommended for the experienced gamer due to its difficulty; it would have been a wise move by Crawfish to include a setting in options.
-
Nintendo PowerAs far as handheld first-person shooters go, Ecks vs. Sever deserves to be number one with a bullet. [Mar 2002, p.136]
-
The only complaint I have about EvS is that your health, armor, and arsenal don't carry over into the next mission.
-
The visual design is the best part of the game.
-
The Ecks vs. Sever FPS engine is the best we've seen on the GBA so far, but it's still firmly rooted in the pre-Quake era of shooters. Arguably it's more advanced than any games of that era, although it's not as long or as involved as say, "Duke Nukem 3D."
-
If you feel a sense of purpose, then its only natural that suspense will follow. Ecks vs. Severs creators understand that and have offered a fun, if sometimes confusing, story.
-
But what really sets Ecks vs. Sever apart is its emphasis on story, and the way its missions consist of more than just straightforward running and shooting.

Apr 28, 2023A fair stab at an FPS that doesn't have much depth and is far too easy but is playable enough. The Doom games are far better though.
