The game is fast and smooth, with colourful graphics and easy to control characters. The action is non-stop and there are loads of missions, requiring your expert skills.
-
The pixelated graphics wont immediately rock your world, but the more you play the more youll marvel at the smooth animation, cleverly designed levels, and awesome infrared effects.
-
Pocket GamesExtremely polished from start to finish, and a worthy addition to any FPS fan's game library. [Spring 2002, p.38]
-
But what really sets Ecks vs. Sever apart is its emphasis on story, and the way its missions consist of more than just straightforward running and shooting.
-
The Ecks vs. Sever FPS engine is the best we've seen on the GBA so far, but it's still firmly rooted in the pre-Quake era of shooters. Arguably it's more advanced than any games of that era, although it's not as long or as involved as say, "Duke Nukem 3D."
-
It is far from perfect, with the lack of battery saving, the lack of in game music and not being able to keep the weapons collected in a level. However, good graphics and well executed play mechanics keep it above mediocrity.
-
The GBA wasnt designed to handle this type of game, and trying to force the matter gets you a sub par game.

Apr 28, 2023A fair stab at an FPS that doesn't have much depth and is far too easy but is playable enough. The Doom games are far better though.
