  1. For a licensed game, I think they've done a very good job of creating a unique game experience that stays in step with the source material while creating a new enough experience to make the game fun. Plus the Allspark Wars function is awesome!
  2. Obviously, this is a game targeted to a specific audience, and while non-Transformers fans will find plenty to like it might be best as a rental. But for those who thrive in the world of high-tech morphing robots, the Battle for the AllSpark is a most tempting gameplay feature that will have thousands of gamers making daily contributions to the ongoing war.
  3. Transformers on DS is a good if unremarkable robot game. The gameplay is enjoyable though a touch too repetitive, but the game does have likeable characters and solid production values.
  4. In the end, loyalty to the movie plot is what weighs Transformers: Autobots down. Still, Autobots is the version to buy for REAL Transformers fans.
  5. All in all, this game may not be a pillar of innovation or creativity, but it is fun. The combat is straightforward and the single player campaign is short, but fans will definitely have a good time here.
  6. Whereas the console versions faltered with a repetitive experience, the DS version fares much better with competent online gameplay.
  7. This game has so many features. It gives you over 30 vehicles to unlock, sub-missions, the Allspark Wars on Wi-Fi, and a solid multiplayer mode. However, the game is extremely short, seemingly rushed, not that nice to look at, and finding a glitch or five is not hard in the least.

Now, I did play it a lot when I was a kid, but even without the nostalgia goggles, it is a very fun game. The missions are fun and have great replayability, the combat system is fairly good, and I probably spent quite a bit of time customizing my character. Not to mention it had a freeplay mode that I probably spent hours on. The only real downside in my opinion is the graphics, which aren't the most detailed in the world. Overall, I would definitely recommend this game. Full Review »

Decent stab at a GTA style open environment, but given the choice between this and the real deal it's absolutely no contest.

If you at least liked the first Transformers film from Micheal Bay, I think you'll find some serious fun out of this one. While this game follows the movie’s plot, it actually alters to accommodate the inclusion of your own Autobot character, who is not within the movie.

You can choose from many different vehicle forms upon scanning them AND change up their color palette, and free to roam open worlds for you to do as you see fit including fight random Decepticons.
There were a few challlenges and hard missions within the game, but it was overall very fun and I would recommend this game, Decepticon version included. (Matter of fact, out of this game, Revenge of the Fallen, and Dark of the Moon, I'd put this game at the top of the list.)
The only real downsides I see are the graphics aren't great, and post-game there isn't all that much to do.
