For a movie tie-in, this game is actually really good. Now, I did play it a lot when I was a kid, but even without the nostalgia goggles, it is a very fun game. The missions are fun and have great replayability, the combat system is fairly good, and I probably spent quite a bit of time customizing my character. Not to mention it had a freeplay mode that I probably spent hours on. The onlyFor a movie tie-in, this game is actually really good. Overall, I would definitely recommend this game. Expand

Unlike the engaging DS version of "Transformers: Decepticons", "Transformers: Autobots" is a crappy game that does nothing but protecting cars and civilians. Clearly Activision tried to make more money outta this trash.

overall, good game, (I have decepticons) graphics are medeocir, storyline is obviuse, but note this is the only transformers game for the ds that has a) freeplay, b) jets and helicopters! (yeah, for those who play war for cybertron, no choppers, right?) and c) a changible vehicale form! this deserves a 10 out of 10 just because it's the best transformers game around. should i go onoverall, good game, (I have decepticons) graphics are medeocir, storyline is obviuse, but note this is the only transformers game for the ds that has a) freeplay, b) jets and helicopters! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved this game as a kid and recently finished it much later, I do recommend using an AR Cheat code to get all the cheats and all the vehicles because you will need to have plenty of options with the occasional super jump turned on and ALWAYS have unlimited energy turned on! You will thank me later if you are trying to finish the story mode and earn the characters to play in free-play mode. I am taking one point off because this game has quite a few glitches and the story mode is unnecessarily tricky for a DS game if you are playing it without cheats. It took me almost a decade to get the courage to sit down and play through the whole story mode. Also DO NOT use the cheat for all locations or all levels because it will freeze your progress at a certain percentage and you won't be able to unlock the characters. This means you have to start the whole thing over again! Heed my warning, play the right way, but do it with some intelligence! Use infinite energy, all vehicles (so scanning them isn't a distraction), and (sometimes) super jump (especially for "Know Thy Enemy"). Do this and you might have a better chance than if you didn't do what I am telling you to do. One more thing, I also played/finished the game on my 2ds XL which helped because I liked having a different control scheme with the circle pad rather than the D-pad. I recommend playing on a 3ds system if you can afford one or already have one, it just feels nicer on the hands than rocking back and forth on the D-pad. You will need a regular DS to use the Action Replay, but that is all you should need it for. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION!! PLEASE DON'T BASH ME FOR SAYING THE 3DS CONTROLS ARE BETTER!!

    I hope this helps!

I think this is a SERIOUSLY good game. If you at least liked the first Transformers film from Micheal Bay, I think you'll find some serious fun out of this one. While this game follows the movie’s plot, it actually alters to accommodate the inclusion of your own Autobot character, who is not within the movie.

You can choose from many different vehicle forms upon scanning them AND change up their color palette, and free to roam open worlds for you to do as you see fit including fight random Decepticons.
There were a few challlenges and hard missions within the game, but it was overall very fun and I would recommend this game, Decepticon version included. (Matter of fact, out of this game, Revenge of the Fallen, and Dark of the Moon, I'd put this game at the top of the list.)
The only real downsides I see are the graphics aren't great, and post-game there isn't all that much to do.

To my memory, this is the very first video game I have ever played so it has a lot of value to me. With that aside, this is actually a very great game. With that aside, this is actually a very great game. While this game follows the movie’s plot, it has been altered to accommodate the inclusion of the protagonist who was not present in the actual movie. It is pretty compelling and the protagonist has an actual arc. He was a show off and wanted to prove his worth to the other Autobots. By the end of the game, he learns to not behave in such a way. This was due to him causing Bumblebee to be captured by Sector 7. The gameplay is identical to the Decepticons version. Same vehicles, same combat and almost the same locations except the Arctic which is exclusive to the Autobots version. The game has phenomenal voice acting unlike any other DS game. Despite the nostalgia I have for this game, I’ve come to realize that this game is slightly lesser to the Decepticons since this game follows the movie more closely rather than the Decepticons which has its own unique story. Even with that in mind, it’s still a great game any Transformers fan should check out even 15 years later. A solid 9/10 Expand

Decent stab at a GTA style open environment, but given the choice between this and the real deal it's absolutely no contest.

  1. All in all, this game may not be a pillar of innovation or creativity, but it is fun. The combat is straightforward and the single player campaign is short, but fans will definitely have a good time here.
  2. Obviously, this is a game targeted to a specific audience, and while non-Transformers fans will find plenty to like it might be best as a rental. But for those who thrive in the world of high-tech morphing robots, the Battle for the AllSpark is a most tempting gameplay feature that will have thousands of gamers making daily contributions to the ongoing war.

When it comes to fighting as the robot or the vehicle, Transformers DS falls flat. The action and its technique really needs a bit of a tune-up, especially in the "defense" department, and the glitches that pop up from time to time are really hard to ignore.
