Pelit (Finland)Technically neat and almost delivers the feeling of being part of a massive battle. The lack of strategy unfortunately turns the game into a mediocre hack and slash. [Mar 2009]
-
A handful of modes and some of these battles will take time and effort to beat.
-
Capture the flag with Lord of the Rings characters is a pretty good idea for a game, and there is fun to be had with Conquest. More polish and more satisfying controls would have made this title really stand out, but as it is it's a decent action game with a great license.
-
Even Fans of Middlearth will find it difficult to recognize famous locations in this Lord of the Rings game. The epic story and battles of the trilogy suffer further from bad graphics and inaccurate controls.
-
A2M has maintained the spirit of The Lord of the Rings: Conquest in the DS version of the game. Pandemic's game has been perfectly ported to this machine and we'll find a very similar gameplay. However, it has some technical problems like frame drops or pop-in affects and the AI don't help us at all, so we are alone against the world. But, if you are able to forget these issues, you may enjoy this title.
-
Nintendo PowerAs good as the DS may be, there are some things it just wasn't built for. [Feb 2009, p.89]
-
The license promises much but Lord of the Rings: Conquest is a cheap cash-in that should be avoided. Even Grima Wormtongue would have to agree
