Perhaps the most stinging criticism we could hurl at Ridge Racer DS is that it makes Need for Speed Underground 2 look half-decent - and that is just plain wrong. [GamesMaster]
-
It's a missed opportunity weighed down by cumbersome and lacklustre design. The multiplayer provides some fun, but with Mario Kart on it's way, it's worth neither the hassle or expense.
-
Pelaaja (Finland)Ridge Racer’s touch screen debut ain't what it’s cranked up to be. It could have been much better. As it’s now, it doesn’t utilize the DS’s capabilities in any useful or fun kinda way. [July 2005, p.77]
-
The visuals have now lost much of their shine, which isn't helped by poor collision detection. Wireless multiplayer racing can be enjoyed by up to six DS owners in some events with just one copy of the game.
-
It fails at presenting a compelling racing game, and more to the point, it fails at presenting a compelling Ridge Racer game, with backward graphics and bollixed controls.
