Believe it or not, if you have both a Wii and a DS and you're not really bothered about multiplayer action, we'd recommend you pick up the DS version of this instead of the Wii one. [Nov 2009, p.70]
-
SEGA and Nintendo work together again to offer us the Olympic Games values in an adventure game full of snow. Its smasher button style is very funny but not so good for your little DS.
-
At the end of the day, SEGA have created a very fun and entertaining Nintendo DS game that contains a wide range of fun games from snowboarding (tricks included) to the fast experience of the downhill Luge.
-
The new olympic entry of our favourite heroes has resulted in one of the best sport titles to date in Nintendo DS.
-
Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games is a fun, enjoyable, and approachable experience that improves upon last year's Summer Games outing.
-
SEGA shows that Mario and Sonic are always reliable. The game includes nice graphics and an innovative controlling system. So what are you waiting for?
-
Nintendo PowerMario and Sonic's second portable outing together is a good time. [Nov 2009, p.88]
-
Small control and connection issues aside, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games for the DS is the superior version.
-
The fully realized Adventure Tours makes a great introduction for players picking the title up for the very first time, and the breadth of modes and extras should extend the life of the game for a good, long while.
-
On the whole, you’re well advised to get Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games if you’re after a fun and accessible single-player adventure. The sports are hit and miss, but the Sonic Rush-like Supersonic Downhill and Fever Hockey are addictive events you’ll go back to time and time again.
-
Games Master UKWas never going to challenge for the top, but a good effort. [Dec 2009, p.82]
-
The DS-version of the return of Mario & Sonic is a great product. The nice story mode, enjoyable gameplay and online options make it a top choice for Nintendo DS-owners. All these aspects make it a better game than the Wii-version.
-
While the action in the DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is far smaller in scope than the Wii version, the addition of the Adventure mode and wireless multiplayer helps to up the ante.
-
It's rare that a handheld game surpasses it's console cousin, but this is definitely the case here. The inclusion of the adventure mode is really quite different to anything you'll find in any sports game anywhere.
-
A very nice and funny game, suited more for kids and families than hardcore players, but enjoyable for fast matches with the famous and lovely characters.
-
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games still has a bit of a “farmed out” feel to it.
-
Offers a fun and lasting experience, though will appeal more to fans of Mario and Sonic.
-
In short, fans of casual sports games will find plenty to love about this title, which manages to be just as good as the home console version.
-
For people who haven't played an Olympic Mario & Sonic, this might bring several hours of entertainment, even though some disciplines get boring too quickly. However, if you've played the previous version, a "been there, done that" feeling will soon pass over you.
-
Nintendo GamerSolid if unspectacular. [Winter 2009, p.64]
-
A decent-but-lacking adventure mode mixes some great and lackluster events, while multiplayer is a blast to play.
-
It's got a lot of star power, but this collection of sports-themed minigames isn't Mario and Sonic's finest hour.
-
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games should be a very solid package. Unfortunately, the mini-games on offer simply aren't all that exciting.
-
AceGamezMario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics isn't a bad game, it's just not a particularly good one either.
-
A collection of party and mini games that works when you have friends over but isn’t a lot of fun on your own.
