    They did a pretty good job at hitbox / bug fixing, and the speedrun is still kinda interesting, in my opinion I just think that they made the game a bit to easy. But it can be good in a certain way cause that means that more players can give it a try.

    From a personal perspective, this is the best Zelda game in the series. It has great amount of content, a deep and dark lore, great dungeon design and overall great world design & the soundtrack is absolutely fantastic

    My first experience with Majoras Mask.

    It was very good and is a 10/10 but after I got to play the original, I completely fell in love with the controls, Graphics and overall feel. Thats why I‘m rating the 3D version: 9/10

    This is a great game that gives a challenging, speedrun-esque vibe. The aspect of three days to do anything you need to do in that run is an amazing feature that, although frustrating at some times, brings some personality to the game itself. With gyroscopic controls you can perform shooting challenges, shoot down enemies, and the like. I would highly recommend this game. 10/10

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. majoras mask was always amazing, but the 3ds version changes minor things that can change the game by quite a bit, for example, the deku's mask still allows you to jump on water, but your speed is reset with every jump that you do. there are other minor bad changes but the game is still great like it was 20 years ago on the n64… Expand

    Siendo una secuela continuista, el sistema de tiempo a la hora de hacer las mazmorras es un lastre importante. Obligar a hacerla en 2 o 3 tandas, repitiendo durante casi horas a hacer lo mismo una y otra vez no es divertido, lo siento.

    One of the best games in history of gaming. Better than OoT by my opinion. Dark story and creepy vibe is what makes this game so unique than the other games from the series. As for the dungeons and every other aspect is just amazing like every other Zelda game.

    The 3 day time limit is insanely fun. it forces you to plan ahead, and the only time i ever needed to reset in a dungeon was right before twinmold. other than snowpeak, the dungeons were all incredibly fun, but the bosses weren't great.
    The kicker is the story and sidequests, these just plain perfect.     This game is one of the best games I have ever played. It may have nerfed the zora and deku mechanics but it overall the same game that came out on the N64 but with a new coat of paint. This game still to this day is one of my favorite games.

    Majora's Mask 3D is a great remake, remaining faithful to the original in most ways. Link's Zora swimming is much worse in this version though. One of the darkest and most creative stories in the Zelda franchise, and definitely a must-play. This is my preferred version of the game.

    Overall, the game is masterfully well-done. This is a must play for anyone that grew up with the game, or is barely playing it for the first time. the dark tone is a departure for most Zelda games, making this one a different experience.

    I will just write a short and provisional review as I feel like Majora's Mask deserves a second chance. The concept is so unique and there is high replay value so I will rewrite this review one day if I change my mind about it.

    I did enjoy the story a lot but there were problems. The game became very repetitive and some puzzles were very frustrating but overall still a very good play.

    The Legend of Zelda: May the Majora's Mask 3D be released as a Nintendo Switch, too. That's how fun and well-made the game is.
    It is also a very dark and scary game.

While the original game is of course a whole lot better and more played than this remake, This 3D remake does improve a lot of visuals, as you may expect from this remake, especially since this came out 15 years after it's predecessor.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. i recently got back into the legend of Zelda series through the glory that is emulation, my most recent one was Majora's Mask for the N64 but i ran into issues with the pictobox and decided to just buy the remake instead and so far i am in love with the 3ds variant more, there was so many quality of life changes i just adore like how you can just get the bombers notebook from the mask salesman and you can get the song of soaring from the swamp almost instantly from finishing the tutorial. the sing of double time allows you to pick specific points of time so it's a lot more user friendly and results in less waiting in place. my only issue I've encountered so far is the Deku scrub ,movement. i enjoyed being able to YEET myself at the speed of light and it feels very stilted, but other than that i'm glad i finally bought this game and can't wait to 100% it.… Expand

People complain about the time restraints, but as long as you play the inverted song of time you should have plenty of time to complete a dungeon or side quest. My only real gripe is I was a little turned off by having all the dungeon bosses have a giant eye to hit, which wasn’t in the N64 version - just thought that was unnecessary, but no game breaker at all. Out of all the 3D Zelda games this is definitely my third favorite behind Twilight Princess and OOT. If you have a 3ds this is worth every penny, such a great game!… Expand

    It took me some time to get used to the 3 days system but once I got used to it I learned how to appreciate every interactions even more. in this game you absolutely need to talk to people because what they say and how they act changes depending on how much time there's left in Termina.

Zora swimming has been all but ruined, movement over water with the Deku Scrub Mask on has been changed so you no longer carry momentum between leafs. The new save mechanic undermines the core gameplay mechanic of a 3 day cycle. Zora swimming has been all but ruined, movement over water with the Deku Scrub Mask on has been changed so you no longer carry momentum between leafs. The new save mechanic undermines the core gameplay mechanic of a 3 day cycle. Most of the bosses have been nerfed and are now almost insultingly easy to beat.

    Great game but not as much as the original which is kind of disappointing. For example, It 'fixes' some of the 'issues' with the original which made it what it was, making it more in line with the main series and taking away from it feeling like a gem, and how it feels refreshing and different to play.

    I haven't played the N64 version but I have played this one. After looking at both of them I have come to the conclusion that the 3ds remake messed some things up. I don't hate this remake but it could've been a little better.

    The story is great leaving place for speculation and dark theories.
    You can sympathize with the characters.
    The world feels real because of the 3 day cicle.

    Majora's Mask has to be my favorite game to date, but I feel as though the remake could have been better. I feel that the remake is a bit too colorful considering the whole tone of the game. I personally feel that the colors take away from the gloomy vibe this game gives. I despise the changes they did to the Zora swimming for the Great Bay portion of the game. I do feel that the qualityMajora's Mask has to be my favorite game to date, but I feel as though the remake could have been better. Full of changes that make the game worse than the original... not only removing all it's character but breaking many gameplay mechanics. If you want to play the only good version of Majora's Mask you need to break out your 64.

    + Bosses: Eyes and only eyes. Shoot the eye. However, the ways to stun the bosses are completely different.

    Cons:
    - Fishing: While it does the fishing mechanic in a creative way, I personally didn't find any fun in fishing in MM3D.

    Overall, Majora's Mask 3D is a wonderful remake that fixed the issues I had with the N64 version and more. So, therefore, Majora's Mask 3D warrants a 10/10 from me.    … Expand

The dungeons feel fresh, however the puzzles felt easier. The 'time limit' mechanic lets you plan your actions which works really well, although I feel like they could've used that in more puzzles.     Personally, this is my favorite Zelda game, the story isn't the best but its sidequests are where the real meat of this game really is, I can easily get over 15 hours in this game and have replayed it several times without it losing any of the charms I experienced on my first playthrough.

Most people think that Ocarina of Time is better but i personally think that Majora's Mask Is a masterpiece, not that it doesn't share a few problems that OoT had, most noteably theres a lot of waiting in the game but it's still much better. 10/10 Nintendo keep it up!!!

    Then, as it always happens with hipsters and with the help of some manufactured hype after the Ocarina 3DS remake, somehow opinions that Majora's mask was an underrated gem surfaced. Counting on kids having never played the original back in the day, and adults having forgotten.

    And we got this, in the same way we got it on the N64: A recycled game from Ocarina of time 3DS. With some improvements to hide the fact that this game is a polished POS.

This could have been one of my favourite Zelda games of all time if they didn't try to do something different here with this useless stressful clock preventing any player from fulfilling their desire for exploration. Now Lets get the 8/10 rating out of the way first. The original N64 game is by far the best N64 game of all time in my opinion; let alone one of the greatest games of all time. ItMajora's Mask for the 3DS adds a lot of stuff that is both good and bad, and seeing how the original N64 games is one of my favorites of all time I thought I would give a review on my opinions on this newest one. Now Lets get the 8/10 rating out of the way first. The original N64 game is by far the best N64 game of all time in my opinion; let alone one of the greatest games of all time. It is definitely within my personal top 5 games of all time, it is a 10/10 masterpiece of a game. However the amount of things they've changed in this game has done enough to bump it down to an 8/10. This game is still a fantastic game but let's go over some of the changes I feel are either unnecessary or just bad in general. One of these such changes is butting the Clocktown bank in the clock tower. This change makes it so the banks usual position in west Clocktown and places it in the south Clocktown clock tower. This change is absolutely unnecessary as all it does is change the location, it makes it slightly easier for newer players to get to as well. The next change is having the double song of time transport you to any time of the day. This change doesn't bother me a lot but it does end up making things a lot easier for new players. Another change, which is by far the worst change. Is the fact that every single dungeon boss has an eye on them somewhere which is their weak point. This means that the bosses are painfully easy to a Zelda Veteran like me and makes it easier for new players. You see where I'm going with this? The game has been toned down an awful lot so that it is easier for people new to the series. Not only that but a lot of these changes wouldn't even help a new player that much. (well except for the eye on every boss thing.) One of the things that I've always loved about the Zelda franchise is that the games were never hard, but they were challenging. They force you to think outside the box and use items that seem pointless at first but turn out to be crucial. my other favorite thing is the adventure. The feeling that you are in a living breathing world that continues to go on even when you aren't in it. I feel very few games capture this feeling better then the Zelda games. And while the 3DS version of Majoras mask does screw up on some very minor things. It improves on all the major things. The graphics make the game look absolutely amazing compared to what it used to be. The game has remastered audio which sounds absolutely amazing. The Puzzles in the dungeons always seem fresh and new. The game which I grew up loving and cherishing is still very much there. This game is perfect if you want Majoras Mask on mobile and even better if you are new to Zelda and want to give the games a try. Overall I recommend it to everyone.… Expand

    So overall, It is a meaty game that does so much right, but the cumulated annoyances made the journey rather frustrating.

    Unlike OoT or ALBW, this is one game where I won't revisit. However, I am glad I got to experience this game, and I finally understand the love for it. Because if you don't let the above mentioned flaws frustrate you, you have a well crafted, massive and detailed Zelda game.    … Expand

I'm a long time Zelda fan, have played a majority of the series ever since childhood, starting with the original, love this series more than any other video game series (along with Final Fantasy), but as I played Majora's Mask, I just kept waiting for it to get good, and it didn't.

    I think this game relied too heavily on regurgitating content from Ocarina of Time. Character models, weapons and items, soundtrack, sound effects, so many things were exactly the same. It seems like they lazily slopped together something new from old content. Where the hell is Zelda? Isn't this the Legend of Zelda? She was shown in a flashback and I kept waiting to see her actually have a part in this plot, but she didn't. No explanation for why childhood link has ended up in "Termina", no longer in Hyrule, but all the same people he knew in Hyrule were there, some of them mortal enemies in Ocarina of Time, now just chums.

    The time mechanic was the most terrible annoyance and seemed pointless. Most of the "scheduled" events were sidequests that you had a one in a million-chance of being at the right place at the right time to encounter without using a walkthrough. I'm shocked to know that the Song of Double Time wasn't in the original because if I had had to wait for time to pass over and over I'd have wasted such a huge chunk of my life playing this game I'd have probably given up after the first temple (oh wait, that is exactly what happened when I played it on N64 long ago). Though my biggest annoyance was that even after slowing the flow of time there were times I ran out of time JUST as I was nearing the end of a dungeon. It's bad enough you have to be timed trying to solve the dungeons, but it's a slap in the face that there's a freaking collect quest in each one for great fairies, some of which are practically impossible to find without a walkthrough. Some dungeons I had to make a choice whether to finish it and fight the boss or take the fairies to the fountain b/c I wouldn't have time to do both before the world ends. So I had to do one and then start the days over and go through the temple from scratch. Who the hell thought that would be fun? It's not fun. It's a waste of time and utterly annoying.

    I think this game insults its players by making them repeat many tasks via the time mechanic, not just if you run out of time, but if you want to get alternate options on a quest, or if you have to go "correct" one of the four regions again by fighting its boss to start another quest in that area that is dependent on it being in its proper state.

    Honestly, the countdown timer in the game didn't make me feel a sense of impending doom since there is no real end to it and you can just start over. All it did was make me aware that hours of my life were trickling away as I played this. I am all for the designers of Zelda taking liberty with a game that strays from the traditions, but I just didn't like this game, and I played it all the way to the pointless, lackluster finale where nothing made sense and it got surprisingly even more gaudy than it already was. I feel like this game is a window into someone's acid trip... Rather than it having the poignant dream-like feel of Link's Awakening or the dark delusion and gloom of Twilight Princess, it all just seemed so tacky and unguided, so random. Links screams and animation every time he put on a mask were gag-inducing.

    There really wasn't much of a plot or any friends or emotional attachments for Link either, so storywise this game was really shallow. The only time I got a remotely emotional reaction was during an optional side quest about Anju and Kafei... and maybe for a split second over that Zora who dies on the beach, whose friends and girlfriend never find out he's dead... unsettlingly.

    I didn't actually enjoy playing as the various species except maybe the Goron. The various controls and attacks seemed to make Link's set of equipment fairly useless and it didn't feel like a Zelda game much. Imagine playing Twilight Princess as a wolf for 3/4 of the game and how awful that would have made it. That's how I felt here. There were also many, many times where this game just had awful controls and physics, especially when controlling the alternate forms, and it would punish you with constantly having to redo or retry something to get it right when the problem isn't that the player isn't skilled. It's that the controls are clumsy and unresponsive and often do the opposite of what you tell them to.

    The music in this game was mostly not memorable, and the new ocarina and instrument "songs" were terrible. Most sounded like random notes and not songs, unlike the very memorable tunes in Ocarina of Time.

    I feel really disappointed and surprised at how bad this game is, so much that I'm struggling to feel this was a Zelda game and wondering how it earns its praises. It's gotta be nostalgia or people who love side-quest games.    … Expand

    This game is a must play! The re-master is completely perfect!!! The graphics are amazing and the visuals are beautiful! The storyline is unique to the Zelda franchise with the new land of Termina. Although is has not a whole lot to do with Zelda or Hyrule, it definitely feels like a Zelda game. Overall, the storyline is FANTASTIC. The gameplay fits the 3DS perfectly. The music isThis game is a must play! The re-master is completely perfect!!!     I have a love-hate relationship with Majora's Mask.

Third, I love the overall weirdness of this game. Everything is nonsense: the events, the characters ... It's like an Alice in Wonderland Zelda version. Fourth, I love playing with Deku Link. He's cute and lovely. If I could, I would play with him the whole game. And I love the bizarre statue of Link (dubbed by fans as "Ben", due to creepypasta). It's a pity that we can't really make "him" appears in all regions of the game. It would be funny.

    Compared to the new generation of games, Majora's Mask is very difficult and very confusing. Very much. If you're playing it in the dark for the first time, it's humanly impossible for you to finish this game without the help of a detonated, unless you are a genius prodigy in puzzles, or has an infinite time at their disposal (the which is not my case). And this is the version for 3DS: I've never played for Nintendo 64, but say that's 10 times worse. Jesus Christ.

    But now, the parties I really hate about Majora's Mask:
    First, the controls of Zora Link in underwater sucks. It took me almost two hours just to find out how Zora Link can break boxes in the water, and another half hour to hit the move. I love Zora Link, but... Sorry. This controls are little sucks.

    Second, I don't like the fact this game is timed. This is not a problem when you are making side missions or playing at random, but it is a big problem when you need to complete Dungeons. In Dungeons you can't stop for admiring the scenery (which can be done in Ocarina of Time), because you will be more concerned looking all the time on the clock to see how long still missing. In short: pressure. And I hate feeling pressure while I'm playing. And what is most terrible is that you can not afford to be dying all the time in the mini-bosses and end Boss (which seem easy, but they are not), because there will not be time. And to make the most desperate situation, the puzzels, mainly in the Water Temple and the last Temple also isn't easy. So, will be normal you get lost a few times and see precious time going down the drain. The icing on the cake doom is to collect the Stray Fairies at the same time. Only Ninjas can. To be clear: This difficulty in puzzels and bosses isn't bad, the bad thing is you being timed. If not for the annoying finite time, Majora's Mask would be a much more fun game, in my humble opnion.

    But before you curse me, I want tell that Majora's Mask is a really great game, and easily my second favorite game of Legend of Zelda series.    … Expand

The graphics are probably the best in the game along with the gameplay. The story is about the Moon Crashing down to a Alternate Version of Hyrule, Termina. However, some parts of the game felt poorly executed, with some graphical glitches and even going outbounds - without even forcing to it. The game looks fantastic and it’s one of the best looking 3DS games i’ve ever played, though the look comes at a cost, I noticed the frame rate drop below thirty at several points, but it was only for a few seconds at most and the game was still playable. In this game you aren’t in hyrule anymore, instead you are in Termina, a place twice as interesting as Hyrule ever was, the world has so much character, instead of just being salesmen and encyclopedias the characters are actual characters, almost everyone has a personality and so does the world. The dungeons are fun and interesting, a huge improvement of Ocarina of Time. The puzzles are still kinda lame though. The three day mechanic adds a feeling of urgenecy to the situation that no other game has had and the game has a ton of fun side content to complete.… Expand

    Nostalgia... same game as N64 tittle...but the 3D effect just look beautiful! If you have a 3DS and love the Zelda franchise this game has to be on your library. Great adventure that uses time a lot, but don't worry, for thius portable edition you can save the game so you don't loose the progress.

This game is the most challenging and deviates in style greatly from the rest of the Zelda series. The remastering is stunning and really makes the atmosphere of this game come to life even more so than it did on the N64. If you've never played Majora's Mask, you're missing out on somethingI loved this game on the N64, and now I can replay the wonder and joy this game provided on the 3DS.     I'm giving it a 9 because of the relocation and re scripting of a few things that were unnecessary, such as the bank and the saving scheme of the owl statues. The owl statues on the N64 gave saving a sense of urgency, and made you think twice before simply shutting the console off. Even if it was a result of hardware limitations, it still would be nice to use the original method of saving. The only thing that would have made this game perfect would be an option to revert to the original N64 version, perhaps after beating the game the first time. Now THAT would be something. :)

    Otherwise, the 3D is fantastic, the storyline is absolutely amazing, and difficulty of the time limitations and three day system are just as vigorous. This game expands upon the Zelda series with flying colors. Kudos Nintendo, there is nothing wrong with remakes, especially when they're this good.    … Expand

    To my immense surprise, I haven’t fallen for a Zelda game like this since I played the The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (1991). Evidence of master craftsmanship is everywhere in this game. By the time you’re flipping a temple upside down then right side up, you may discover that your imagination has been enlarged.
