There are plenty of nitpicks that can be made about Mega Man Legacy Collection, but at its core, the title is a compilation of some of the best games of the 8-bit era.

Brilliant package of classic Mega Man games that deserves a place in your collection whether you're just starting with platform games or you know each of the Mega Man's adventures by heart.

Those who already own the release on consoles have no reason to double dip unless they want to play it on the go, but for those who prefer the portable experience, Mega Man Legacy Collection is a winner on 3DS.

Mega Man Legacy Collection is a great package with a lot of content and stuff to do - for newcomers it's worth acknowledging that each game is very challenging, and could be too much for someone who isn't used to the steep learning curve.

The definitive edition of the first six Mega Man games, the Legacy Collection is perfectly suited for the 3DS control and display. Better than its PC and console counterparts.

Mega Man has never been known as a walk in the park when it came to difficulty and this port tries its best to stay true to the original feel. Fans new and old should most certainly check out this collection. I highly recommend it.

If you haven’t dipped into Mega Man games on portables yet, Mega Man Legacy Collection is a no-brainer if you’re ever hankering for some classic Capcom action going forward.

Sure, Mega Man Legacy Collection could've added more games, or had an option to expand the screen to full size (and what's with the full price tag?). That said, it's still a rich package filled with gaming history, between the six original games, the museum, the music player and the NES Remix mode. If you're even slightly devoted to the Blue Bomber, you owe it to yourself to pick this up.

It’s difficult and unforgiving, but reaping the rewards at the end of each level is satisfying, making this one retro collection you’ll want to get stuck in to.

As a compilation, Legacy Collection thankfully makes an effort to be more than a sloppy pile of regurgitated code from decades ago.

Although there isn’t much more to the 3DS version than there was to the original releases six months ago, Mega Man Legacy Collection nevertheless remains the definitive compilation of the NES originals, bolstered by wonderfully accurate emulation and a nifty host of nostalgic extras—not to mention a great value.

It showcases how seemingly minor tweaks to a series can have significant effects on its kinetic potential.

To date, the Megaman Legacy Collection is the definitive way of playing the first six Megaman games. Loving attention to detail, collection of additional resources, and a challenge mode that should keep longtime players and new fans engaged for a long time.

Mega Man for new and old gamers, with a slice of uninspired bonus content on the side.

It's a shame that Digital Eclipse couldn't iron out all the wrinkles, but despite all that, Mega Man Legacy Collection is a decent little package. [Issue #20 – March/April 2016, p.71]

It's a piece of history, but nothing surprising or a complete collection. Still, very enjoyable if you want to relieve these classics.

Let me explain why I think this particular collection deserves a ten. Having played many different ports/roms/compilations of the Mega ManLet me explain why I think this particular collection deserves a ten. Having played many different ports/roms/compilations of the Mega Man series, this version wins out for a number of reasons.

    1. The roms used are near perfect, if not perfect copies of the originals. Many people remember the Mega Man Anniversary Collection for PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube. Even though those had Mega Man 7 and 8 available (which this version does not) , the collections were plagued with a variety of issues (including lack of controller mapping and overall inaccuracies), which this version remedies.

    2. The extras. Oh man the extras. This version (along with the other versions) has a museum mode, which documents concept art, music, and box designs from all the different versions. There is also the option to switch between which version of the games you play: you can pick either the American Mega Man or the Japanese Rockman roms. That, coupled with the extra challenges that you get only with this version (provided you have the Mega Man Amiibo/paywall) gives this version a slight lead over the others. It is also important to mention that the 3DS versions also get two backgrounds for free with codes provided in the box as well.

    3. Portability. This is the only collection that is currently portable. Of course, there are alternatives (like the PSN versions of the Rockman games on PSP, or the 3DS E-shop versions) but this collection has them all, with extras, for thirty bucks.

Considering how many versions of these games I have played, I was skeptical that this collection would be as good as it is. I was wrong. This is the best collection to date. The roms look better than the E-shop versions, and considering the price tag, you would be hard pressed to buy a better version. Do yourself a favor and pick this up immediately.
