It’s not always as shocking or electric as the first season, but it’s more thoughtful and more twisted. On first watch I missed the pure seduction of the first season, but ultimately the new batch of episodes sat with me particularly well.

It’s good news for those who turned “You” into a Netflix smash — and bad news for skeptics — that the show, in its second outing, is itself but more so.

The new season is a lukewarm extension of the first — redundant and not as engrossing as it used to be.

4/10 as a crime drama, but as a trashy romantic dark fantasy, it is 10/10. You might have trouble with suspension of disbelief if you're4/10 as a crime drama, but as a trashy romantic dark fantasy, it is 10/10. You might have trouble with suspension of disbelief if you're intelligent enough to balk at every single crime-scene and mcguffin because they're so far removed from the real world. I suggest just dumbing yourself down and enjoy this psychological porn. If you do, then you can better enjoy what this season excels over the first. Saucy exposition, out-of-control passion, eccentrically egocentric character tropes, compromising humor, improbable love and twists that day time soap would be proud of. Full Review »

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. Still remains a pretty good show although I'm not sure how much of a fan I am of what feels like an increased level of melodrama in this season. Penn Badgley remains a standout performer in this his crazy eyes and forehead vein popping are ridiculous. It really gives the sense of the unhingeness of Joe. Love being equally as psychotic as Joe does kinda detract from his character a bit but I guess they have done it now so will be interetsing to see what they build from here.

I will say that if this show doesn't end up with Joe and Love being caught I will be v. annoyed. Delilah and Candace deserve that retribution as I am lowkey mad about how their character arcs ended although I concede that that is kinda the point lol
