Jan 2, 2019Starts out promisingly but quickly descends into an absurd mess. This is not a stalker thriller. It might seem like one in the first few episodes, but then it becomes an addiction drama while also trying to be a soap and then a rom-com all the while offering nothing to help the viewer understand Penn Badgley's Joe, a completely baffling character.

Dec 31, 2018Very much a sub-Dexter, but without the good bits. Watchable but far from essential

Feb 5, 2019It's good to where it's average, but YOU doesn't bring anything new to the table. From what was seen in the last two decades, I can assure that it doesn't in anyway stand out much.

Mar 5, 2019Good for wasting time with something that won't feel to 'heavy', maybe if you're in between 'heavy' shows. Otherwise skip it - you won't be missing anything. It's like an almost decent imitation of Dexter. Almost.

Dec 19, 2021A creepy relevant metoo era appropriate stalker thriller. It's a very unique take despite being very reminiscent of "Dexter" it's incredibly self aware of its protagonist pitfalls and plays to them. It does ask you to suspend your disbelief more than it should.

Mar 28, 2020You Season 1 Review: 4.5/10
I didn't enjoy this show, not even a little bit. Very unrealistic, predictable and boring. Characters are just uninspired and the story doesn't make any sense at all.

A comedy-thriller with a serrated edge, You is a scary, delicious snack of a show, a bit like “Dexter” crossed with “Younger.”
-
Joe's warped wit, honed by Badgley's sensitive-guy panache, sets You apart from Lifetime's woman-in-peril formula. [17-30 Sep 2018, p.25]

Once you get deep into the premiere, which with its incessant voiceovers plays more like a talking Viewmaster reel than an hour of television, you may find yourself hooked--and recognize some wry observations about human behavior at the root of this thriller.
