While the finale answered some “how is this gonna go?” moments…it felt as if the writers just gave up and gave the laziest effort ever. The wedding, the kid storyline is terrible, they treat him horribly and beths reaction to him calling her mama was so stupid - could have been such a “moment” but it was just annoying. Jamie’s story and especially Beth’s acting and scenes were just blah. They are overdoing it with Beth’s constant cunning and cold responses. That special thing that made her edgy and quite likable is now just getting cringy. 4 seasons of buildup for a huge moment of secrets to come to light was such a huge disappointment. Expand

A preposterous right-wing fantasy, where the men are either righteous and accomplished murderers or craven cowards, environmentalists are ignorant rich kids and the hero, who wears a cowboy hat in the governor's office, brands his ranch handsA preposterous right-wing fantasy, where the men are either righteous and accomplished murderers or craven cowards, environmentalists are ignorant rich kids and the hero, who wears a cowboy hat in the governor's office, brands his ranch hands and murders any who dare to quit or have the misfortune to get fired.

Other than that, Kevin Costner is so decent and reasonable! And he wears the cowboy clothes so well! So what if he owns a ranch the size of Rhode Island, which his family got for nothing, pays next to no taxes on it and enjoys a multitude of unmentioned federal subsidies and supports? This is America and that's what we're fighting for is ... manhood, cowboy hats, the freedom to shoot bad guys with impunity and private ranches the size of Rhode Island subsidized by the state and federal government.

You can admit that you like watching this series without trying to convince me that it’s good. It’s embarrassingly ridiculous and gets more and more more ludicrous as it goes. Best part is 2 minutes of the brilliant Dabney Coleman. Seriously.

Especially nothing that justified the insane levels of hype surrounding this pseudo-neo-western. Performances were lackluster, with English actors trying to hide their accents, attempts a masculine posturing, and of course some good old fashioned subtle racism. There's obviously a target audience given this shows popularity, I'm not just a part of it... 2 points for some of the cinematography though. Expand
