This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The storyline went from 10/10 (exciting and smart) to 2/10 (unbelievable and boring) in just three seasons.
Why? Just take a look at season 3 episode 1. In this episode, we see Bernard being recognized by co-workers, but Dolores, who was even part of the Westworld advertisement video likely shown worldwide, does not get recognized. here it is important to notice that Bernard actually made some changes to his appearance and Dolores just looks the same. That is just outright stupid!
Another example, is Dolores "killing" a CEO for money. We have disappearing guards, no cameras and the CEO killing himself wearing AR glasses. Come on! That episode is a 0/10 in my book. The wife even sees Dolores, but apparently doesn't report her even though she must have been bombarded with questions (Why was the alarm off? Where is the camera footage? Where did the guards go?, etc.) Why would she help Dolores? I mean she would be "free" either way. It just makes no sense!
Then it continues on with Conells uncovering and disabling Dolores. However, she is then driven around town until she wakes up and kills all her guards. That makes no sense doesn't it? Apparently, we are heading into a world filled with stupid in the future. Along the way, Conells is being killed and replaced with a host. Ridiculous. He could have called for backup while driving away. He could have alerted others that the Dolores host is running around in the real world. I am not even asking the obvious question: Why would he leave his employer to escort Dolores? Terrible story writing at its finest.
I have little hope for season 4 at this time. In my opinion, the only option to save the show is to quickly kill of the remaining characters and do a soft reboot in a different world. Dolores should have been killed for good at the end of season 2. Then season 3 should have focused on the free hosts having difficulties integrating into the real world. That would have continued a smart storyline!

The first season showed great promise and asked a lot of interesting questions about what it means to be human and what would you do in a consequence free environment. The characters were interesting and showed development as the season progressed. Unfortunately the wheels started coming off the train in season 2 and were completely gone in season 3. The writing became increasingly lazy with deus ex machinas appearing everywhere, cartoonish villains and mcguffins aplenty, all the while becoming overly self reverential with themselves and trying to shock and awe the audience with plot twist after plot twist. Unfortunately they were all incredibly contrived. While the writers are going to great lengths to illustrate how clever they are with painful exposition finally revealing their latest twist, which will undoubtedly be undone by some other twist in a few episodes, audiences have been aware this was coming for ages and just want it to be over. At a certain point, when they have deconstructed everything they created through these turns you realize that you don’t care about any of the protagonists or antagonists any more. Season 3 was actually painful to get through. Watching Aaron Paul, an actor I have liked in other work, trying to emote episode to episode was cringeworthy. Thandie Newton and Tessa Thompson, who were formidable characters in the first and second season respectively, were tragically underused. At the end of season 3 I felt increasing sympathy for the “hosts” who had to live through endless cycles through their “loops” that have been written by a hack writer overly impressed with himself, story patches applied with haphazard care, where nothing matters and there are no consequences to what has happened because I had now lived through that experience as well. The first season based on Crichton's work is perfect. Then, in the following seasons, the political agenda took precedence over the script and casting. HBO is in the process of netflixatization since 2020.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just finished the finale. Maybe one of the worst season finales I've ever watched (never saw GOT). When the season started, I had my reservations. I just thought it would be Dolores killing everybody again and manipulating Caleb into being her pawn. Then the season progressed, and I had hope. Episodes 2-7 are genuinely great. They set up each character and their motivations so well here. The episode centered on Serac is especially great IMO, and provided much needed explanation for what was going on. Then the season finale came. Holy **** what terrible writing. Every character's motivations are altered drastically. I still don't understand Caleb's character, who's probably the most important of the series. Is he supposed to be some injured soul who has been beaten down his whole life? Is he supposed to be a vicious killer? Is he supposed to be a sweet kid at heart? I don't know, because the show doesn't stop changing his motivations every damn episode. Serac suddenly has his brother's voice in his ear as a god? And this isn't mentioned once before the finale? Then there's the hosts. Since Season 1, the hosts' "powers" have been clearly specified. In Season 3, they're only strong when the writers want them to be, and weak when the writers want them to lose. How does Maeve just blow up Serac's button that literally controls her? She didn't obtain the key. What's Bernard motivation? I understand that he has more empathy for humans than any other host, but what's his purpose? He didn't do a single thing all season until he had the key. Then we don't even know what the **** the key does. Then there's Hale. Hale's storyline got good once her family was involved. Watching whatever version of Dolores that was become more empathetic to Hale's family than she ever was was honestly interesting and well written. But then they kill off the family, and just decide to make her an even more evil version of Dolores. Oh, and then they ****ing kill off William. William was the most human, relatable character in the show. But then they just say "lol **** it let's replace him with a host in post credits I'm sure some people are gonna miss it anyways lol" LIKE COME THE **** ON. Also, why the **** is everything just normal when William walks into the Delos office? There's a difference between subtlety, and straight up plot holes. This show did a great job of being subtle in season 1, slightly worse in season 2, then just said "yeah ummmm let's not let the viewer understand anything unless it's explicitly spoken... oh also make sure we add more fighting scenes between Dolores and Maeve because the incels on reddit love beating off to that." This series should have ended with this season. This series cares more about asking questions that can't be answered by the viewer than it is concerned about giving the viewer a gratifying experience. I can't believe this show. Expand

I rate the series from season to season.
Season 1: Absolutely brilliant season with a first-class story and convincing actors and screenplay.
Season 2: unbearable snot. Unfortunately, a short and weak story is spread over 10 episodes. That is also the reason why the actors walk forever from A to B and talk senseless stuff for hours. In addition, practically nothing happens in the individual episodes and nothing progresses. If that weren't enough, you would have packed in dozens of new areas like samurais that were never known before. Who came up with this garbage?
Season 3: Just watched episode 1 of season three and even Aaron Paul can't save this snot. The formerly sympathetic main actors are only annoying. How could this series develop so ****

The second season takes the exciting premise updated with so much depravity but also high production value and added philosophical depth of the first season and trashes it with ridiculous overkill profanity which debases the language and culture, and worse sadistic hyper violence and gruesomeness which likely may cause real violence in society (though conveniently there is no way to prove, and the creators here would argue they are merely commenting on the nature of violence while of course are really sickeningly glorifying it)! It's a bore too because the narrative is so damn out there convoluted and confounded nobody of any intellect could follow it except its narcissistic pseudo intellectual makers: Jonah Nolan, Lisa Joy, and maybe JJ Abrams. It's clear from behind the scenes content the pretenders including the cattle (cast), shill writers, stooge directors, other crew, and phony producers sure couldn't, and no doubt nor could the hypocrites at WB and HBO who continue to pollute minds on a massive scale with their wickedness for profit while at the same time have the gall to preach their two faced silly secular morality down to the masses. But I'm on Season 2 Episode 5 now and have been for months. I'm now trying to watch 10 min a day just to move forward and hope it goes somewhere more interesting. The androids are dull and have no personality and the humans while more colorful are all unlikable. Its a soap opera that even as a "guilty pleasure" does not hook me at all. I'm sorry, but I don't care who created this show. It is simply boring on all levels. I loved the original movie. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wish I could give Westworld a higher rating. Season 1 was 9/10; Season 2 was 8/10; Season 3 was 6/10; and Season 4 was 3/10. What a mixed bag of potential slowly rotting away. This review, consequently, focuses on Season 4.

They need to reclaim what made Westworld good. In the beginning, it was aware of major issues in our world and had intriguing ways to help us reflect on those issues without cramming down our throats a simplified narrative full of bludgeoning symbolism. Season 4? Narrative symbolism now equates to: woman in red is fierce and villainous, with guards in apparent white bleeding bright red (to signify their humanity and to highlight the violence that results in her dream). A woman in black is the ultimate anti-hero. They kill each other and cancel each other out. Two strong black women leading the way, ultimate power symbols, unstoppably smart, strong, capable, etc. Counter that against: white abused woman with the power to change it all, trying to get over the pain this world has caused her (read: all the men that abused her), including the men that lord over her in her workplace and put up a literal glass ceiling, including the fiction of true love in her white male dreamboat. She gets advice from her black friend ally. The second antagonist - a white man. A man bent on destroying everything because he can't have it. There is some tiny reprieve for white men in the copy of a man father figure, but he can't join the new world because he doesn't belong. He's a (copy of) a white man. The future belongs to a mixed race lesbian couple as the writers would like us to celebrate. And the thing is, it's not that it would be bad to champion gender equality, sexual equality, or racial equality. It's that it's done so simplistically. The only character worth watching in this show is Bernard. He's the only one that doesn't stand for a simplified social justice identity meme. Maeve has been great up until Season 4, but now she's been simplified and discarded. I don't care what Dolores does or William or Hale. May the writers remember that first they're telling a story - a story full of rich, sometimes deeply flawed, sometimes simultaneously beautiful, people. Three dimensional people. We're not watching a prosaic essay on identity - or at least, not if we are choosing our viewing diet with some sense of care.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wife and I were liking it until season 1 got close to the end and we both couldn’t handle how dumb and unbelievably RETARDED the characters acted..
Like The Oriental Tech giving ten murderous AI robot whatever she wants knowing she is gonna kill more people and he makes her. Rainiac anyways...he coulda just ran and called security..
Also, where is security????? The blind spots in this uber elite,,worlds most advanced tech facility and there’s no security anywhere inside the firm. Umm!!!

TWO STARS FOR BERNARD ACTOR!!! He was awesome an I am a fan...

-RETARDED HOW NOBODY NOTICED HE LOOKS IDENTICAL TO DECEASED COMPANY FOUNDER..(he is after all a AI and nobody knew) umm...

~~ the girl who was killed goes into the park alone to investigate something g sinister.. yeah ok...

The show was exciting but goes downhill FAST after episode 3...
This was 100% the mediocre writing,,to focused on political correctness being added that they ignored making the plot elements make any kind of sense...
Stick to the original if you like the story....

They shoulda focused on the guest acting out inside the park and the aaI acting out inside the park..not apocalypse by robot ai..ugh Trust when I tell you that you are better off saving ur time watching anyth8ng else.....
